Highly recommend Mercure Bilbao to fellow travelers. The property is clean, good size rooms, friendly staff. On the night we checked in the reception person came out to help us park as we were struggling with small parking spaces. They also suggest to take their umbrellas when going out for walk as it does rain off and on. Breakfast buffet is the highlight with an impressive menu options with lot of choices - one suggestion is to add allergy alert info beside each dish name. One has to ask the server or chefs for allergy info on each dish. Secondly, at omelet station, the chef was using gloved hand to add all condiments (vegetables and/or bacon) they should use spoons to accommodate guests who are vegetarian. Parking is very convenient and even though included - one has to pay separately, this should be made more explicit.

Das Hotel ist super in ausgezeichneter Lage, tolle Bar und megafreundliche Servicekräfte. Schlecht ist der Spa-Bereich, wo schlechtgelauntes, gelangweiltes Personal den Zutritt verwehrt, wenn man nur den Whirlpool benutzen möchte.

Ok stay, the room was quite nice although not 'properly' clean in the corners and behind the bathroom door etc. The staff at the reception desk were very friendly, at the bar a bit less so. The gym was awful, only one multi-gym type cable machine and most of the attachments were missing so I skipped my workout. Ok if all you want to do is cardio but that is it. Some homeless people by the side entrance but area in general ok. I wouldn't choose to stay again.

This was a very nice place to stay, I especially liked the sustainability. Bamboo room keys! I will have to agree with the other reviews about parking. It was tight, very tight and nerve wracking and I'm an excellent driver. I survived the garage shaking but without a scratch. Otherwise the hotel is conveniently located, although I only stayed one night and made the mistake of not checking the Guggenheim hours - closed on the day I were planned to go (Monday), I knew this but forgot - probably due to the parking garage. Also to note, your vehicle must be moved on the day of check out, so you must find another place to park if you wish to spend the day still exploring Bilbao.

The hotel is very rundown. Not even close to a 4 star hotel. Towels were old, tubs dirty. We complained and received absolutely no solution to our requests. Location is really good but definitely not worth over 200 euros per night.

El hotel tiene buena ubicación pero lo que no nos gustó fue que no funcionaba el aire acondicionado. Lo reportamos y no lo solucionaron. La regadera estaba demasiado sucia. Y no se podía dormir bien porque en frente hay un bar y el ruido fue muy fuerte.

La cama muy incomoda, el colchon undido en una parte, 1 de las sabanas y 1 de las toallas rota. La habitacion demasiado caliente, no pudimos dormir por el calor y no hubo ninguna solucion, la primera noche la camarera de piso nos coloco el aire acondicionado en 5 porque asi supuestamente se enfriaria la habitacion y como no fue asi, la segunta noche en la recepcion nos recomendaron apagar del todo el aire acondicionado para que dejara de funcionar la calefaccion y tampoco se refresco, abrimos lo poco que se podia la ventana y tampoco funciono, en resumen era un horno, apenas saliamos de la habitacion habia buen clima y el clima de la ciudad tambien era muy agradable, en resumen el problema era la elevada temperatura que tenia la habitacion, fue un desastre esas dos noches;no me volveria a alojar en este hotel ni que me lo regalen, llevo 10 dias viajando por el norte de España y todos los hoteles han sido magnificos menos este.

Good location and excellent breakfast. However, the mattress was sunken and too hard - I didn't sleep well. The bathroom needs a thorough scrub to remove the mould (no air extraction in bathroom???). And all the tiles should really be wiped down between guests - There was a hand print high up on the wall in the shower. It was there when we arrived and still there when we left. Was not asked on check-out if we enjoyed our stay, so we didn't say. It didn't quite feel like a 4 star hotel.

De kamer was erg warm. De airco was buiten gebruik gesteld in het hele hotel, was de mededeling. Daardoor moesten we een raam openzetten maar er was elke nacht erg veel lawaai van van het uitgaansleven tot 05.30 uur. Alle dagen slecht geslapen. Voor de rest een prima hotel met een boven gemiddeld ontbijt.

First the bad, very loud street noise late at night from club goers outside of hotel. AC turns of late at night, you go to bed cold and wake up sweeting. We had 2 rooms and same issue. Rooms are confi, big bathroom. Parking is good as well. Plenty of dining options at walking distance.

Great hotel that is very well located at walking distance from the city centre, including the Guggenheim museum. Spacious room, clean, good bathroom. The only objection is that our room was a bit dark, it had little natural light. It is expensive, but it is a good one.

Expensive, but the room we had was large and beautiful. We slept really well. Also, well located near the Guggenheim, the casco viejo and all the fun, you can do everything on foot, everything is really close. Perfect stay (the only thing missing is a pleasant view- our room was facing an entire building/no view whatsoever on the sky whereas i had specifically asked for a room on the upper floors...- other than that it was just perfect).

The room was spacious and clean. A little tired but not overly so. It was noisy though, you can hear chairs being moved over head very clearly. The breakfast was good quality and served to 11am which is great for a little lie in. The location is perfect, it’s in the middle of everything. We walked everywhere within 10/15 mins of leaving.

The hotel is very conveniently located in a quiet corner of central Bilbao, within short walking distance to most attractions/landmarks as well as numerous restaurants, cafes and bars. It’s also great if you’re traveling with young children, as there are a number of playgrounds by the river near the hotel. I love that the hotel provides a cute Little Prince toiletry set for their little guests - a very thought touch.

We stayed here some years ago when we visited Bilbao. Now we wanted to stay at the same hotel! We were not disappointed, a nice 4 star hotel and the location is perfect. Close to Pintxo bars, shopping and not far to walk to the Guggenheim museum.

The location was great, close to the museum and old town. Even close to the metro if you wanted to visit other town. I recommend adding breakfast to your booking, as the food was very good, and you can ask the chef to make you a fresh omelette with everything in it. The fresh orange juice is heavenly. You’ll need an SD card with movies on it, because the only English Channels you get is the news.

Spotlessly clean nice area, but noisy from a nearby nightclub on a Saturday night, okay with window closed. Bar and restaurant small, for the size of the hotel, plenty of choice nearby. Walking distance to Guggenheim and riverside walks. Area felt safe. Hotel car park isn’t easy to find and very tight to navigate, but is safe and secure.
