Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas - All Inclusive

Wonderful staff, clean property, not crowded. Some disrepair. Would recommend if you’re looking for a resort to stay at, as you can also enjoy the amenities at the sister Riu resorts. If you’re wanting to explore outside of the resort, stay closer to the marina.

The location , the beach , the pool , perfect view of The arch from the beach , however the elevator is too old , sometimes was out of order.

Nice attractive property. Food was good, plenty of choices, and adequate seating room. Service was good and staff more friendly than I’ve seen in PV resorts. Great to have access to the Santa Fe and Baja hotels right next door to the RIU Palace. Pools were good. But, don’t think about swimming in the ocean in front of the hotels, the surf has quite a rip to it and it’s red-flagged year-round. No issue, there’s plenty of scuba excursions available from the downtown Marina. We did a sunset cruise from there… food wasn’t much to write home about, although the excursion and sights more than made up for it. Would we go back to the RIU? Already thinking about it… our new favourite destination.

I like how they had an adults only pool. I also enjoyed that they had walk in dining and not reservations.

Staying at this property is great because you can access the Riu Santa Fe next door if you’re looking for a more party vibe. Or hang out at the Palace for a more relaxed vibe.

Entertainment staff and wait staff are phenomenal.

There were so many pools we didn’t get to swim in all. We were able to walk on the beach with family which was so beautiful this time around. The buffet food was excellent except the Japanese restaurant. My favorite buffet time was dinner. The swim up bar was friendly. 10/10 recommend. We were able to go to their sister hotel to party which was fun and come to our calm and quiet hotel to relax. I would come back again!

Would like to see pool towel stations on both sides, BBQ grilling on both sides of pools , more drink servers in pool area, more of a variety of alcohol beverages example Modelo , Pacifico , I would really like to see tv’s in the lobby bar area for games

Great for the price you pay. - Rooms are nice, but they need a little bit of renovation. - Food is Ok/Good. - Pools and swim up bars are nice. - Night shows and music is fun too. - Staff is very nice! Be Aware, if you are picking the facility for the 730$ resort credit, know that you can only use parts of it for leisure activities. For example, if a massage costs 700$, you can only use 30$ out of that credit for one thing, the rest will need to be spend onto something else such as boat activity, photos etc... The resort credits are distributed in coupons, a bit of a problem because the activities are somewhat overpriced.

We had the best time. We were on a family trip and were able to enjoy good food, shows, and music. The pools were well kept and we really liked that there were wait staff to take your drink order at the pool.

Había cucharachas en todo el hotel y en la habitación encontramos todos los días más de una! Le informamos a recepción y nos trajeron un raid mata bichos. La comida no fue de lo mejor, la animación tampoco, lo único rescatable es el servicio de casi todos, excepto de las chicas que atienden la cafetería! Muy mala actitud! Lo mejor de este hotel es la vista al mar en la temporada de avistamiento de ballenas, ya que las ves desde la alberca.

Very spotless room, staff are very kind, very fun resort

On the first night, my daughter saw a huge roach mixed with moths and mosquitoes in our room. They moved us to another room whuch was much better. There are a lot of random cats that wonder throughout the property. Supposedly they're there to manage the rats. Another, uncleanliness incident was when, upon closing, buffet is there was a trail of roaches, all different sizes, that around the desert area.

Overall the hotel, employees and food options were very good. My only complaint is there were to many flies at all the restaurants and the lack of urgency by the management to control them was unacceptable therefore I would rate this resort overall 8 out of 10

Rooms look very old and dirty! Which we didn’t like to touch anything! Bathroom was dirty which had strong smell!!! Trash bins are without plastic inside of it which looks and feels very dirty and disgusting!

The amount of flies on the property, in the food, the halls and other insects was unacceptable. Uncomfortable in the dining hall and restaurants. The property is dated and dirty. The halls are full of moths. The walls in the rooms are stained. The food quality is horrible. Worst experience ever in All of my trips to resorts around the world. Never again

The rooms were great! Very clean, and the staff was so kind and thoughtful. Absolutely a beautiful resort!

I gave 4 stars because there was a mildew smell in the room. I assume it was coming from the air conditioner running all the time. I've experienced this at other Riu resorts. But other then that. The Riu Resort in los cabo was the best. Drinks good, food good, The staff was great.

Beautiful, safe and clean resort with friendly, hard-working employees.

Staff is exceptional, the views exceptional, the “all you can eat buffet” (which we normally do NOT care for) was exceptional! The only real complaint would be the older, musty smelling rooms, which are in dire need of an update.

The pool area was great. We had 3 rooms and 1 room was cool and comfortable the other 2 rooms were way to hot.

The grounds were nice and clean, the staff were very pleasant. Easy access to the beach. The food was ok. Everything else was quite disappointing. Immediately when we checked in we noticed right away the fridge was making a terribly loud buzzing sound. But ok fine, they replaced it pretty quickly. Overall I don't think the rooms are well maintained. The rooms themselves have absolutely 0 sound proofing. If you are at all sensitive to noise, do not expect to get a good night's rest here. The doors of the suites are facing each other (??? why???) so every time your neighbor comes or goes, you get to hear the SLAM of the door. Staff rolling their carts down the hallway will absolutely echo in to your room and wake you up at any time of the day or night. At one point we tried to rest during the day but an actual jackhammer was being used directly outside of our room and was very disturbing. Room service was basically non existent. The menu is laughably small. You can just go up to the lounge to get anything off the small menu (sandwiches or nachos). There is one small store with overpriced snacks and sunscreen. I can't believe how hard it was to try and find a snorkel at this place - not available from the hotel or in the store. Overall, I have too many complaints and did not have a great experience here. I will book elsewhere for my next stay.

Rio place has been our go to place for the past 8 years, we go there every year. This time things were different. Hotel needs major face lift and upgrade, everything is old, somewhat out of shape. Food is still decent but nothing close to what it used to be and more importantly variety doesnt change like it used to, you keep seeing the same foods. Somewhat boring now. So i hope they do something about it otherwise even their loyal customers might consider trying other places.

When they say either a king size bed, or two double beds, you think the two double beds are separate, but they are side-by-side, so there’s a crack to sleep on in the middle of the bed. The walls don’t stop the noise from the neighbors. When we complained to the front desk staff about it, they refuse to do anything. When we are on vacation, we would like to sleep in. Not be woken up by screaming kids at 7:30 AM. The restaurants were average. Italian restaurant turned out to be the best one. Steak restaurant was OK, but the fusion restaurant got our meal all wrong, and had no apologies for it. We waited so long for a dessert, but we just decided to leave.

It was definitely a clean room, but it smelt really really weird and made all of our clothes. Have a really weird smell for a while after we got home.

Room was clean but bathroom looked old, pillows were not comfortable. Compared to RIU Riu Palace Pacifico Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico, this Riu felt substandard in regards to food and overall experience. Thanks

Property always clean and well maintained, as was the pool and surrounding area. The room was just ok, we woke up to a water leak from the ceiling - dripping from the recessed light. This had obviously happened before due to the maintenance tech stopping the leak with in a couple minutes of seeing the problem. The housing to the light was also rusted. They did not however clean up the water, that was left to us. Also, the portion sizes at for dinners were very small (3 total raviolis at the Italian spot)and unlike other resorts you were limited to 1 entree, which meant there was no way to try other options at each restaurant, even if you didn’t like what was brought. Big bright spot was the wedding coordinator for the wedding we were at the resort for, I think her name was Daniella, personable and made sure everything was great! Server Raul was also incredible, he remembered many of the people in our party from a previous visit and made sure we sat in his section.

Was disappointed we booked an ocean view room and it was a partial view at best. We tried to switch rooms but they said they couldn't.

My room never really got cold, staff came and checked the air conditioner threw time and they never fixed it.

Horrible Management. When it comes to needing assistance, the manager just said that they weren’t responsible for anything. Will never book RIU again

Almost everything was perfect. Our room was really nice, the staff friendly and very helpful, food was incredible. The only 2 items that weren't to our liking were the bed and Destination Services. Our room had 2 standard sized beds pushed together instead of the king sized bed we thought we had requested. What 5 star resort does that? One of us was forced to sleep on the seam where the 2 mattresses came together.This was unacceptable and very uncomfortable like staying at a 1 star motel. One of our cell phones fell between the mattresses and was nearly lost until we pulled the beds apart and it fell to the floor.The bus to the airport for our return trip home was over half an hour late and the driver forgot to load all the luggage and had to return to the Palace after picking up people at the Santa Fe. We were almost late for our flight. These were the only 2 things that were negative during our trip.

Took forever to even be greeted let alone get the drinks we ordered. The dinner buffet was virtually unchanged even though it was themed differently. Not much variety from one night to the next. We have been visiting the Riu for almost 20 years and the last few years (varying resorts) have been slowly getting worse. This trip was our final trip as we are going to a different hotel next time we travel.

Every time we had an issue, ie safe did not work, hair dryer did not work, they sent staff right away and fixed the issue and did a follow up call to make sure it was done to our satisfaction. Our Son got married here and this resort did an amazing job of setting it up and made many small things happen to enhance the wedding

Stayed here for our 25th anniversary. Over the last 25 years we have averaged 2 all inclusive vacations a year including palace, sandals, couples, iberostar. This hotel was our best. The food, service, grounds, room, all five star. This had to be the best all inclusive food and drinks we have had. Beef filet, caribbean lobster, shrimp tacos every day and cooked perfectly. Its hard to find a beef filet cooked medium rare at an AI, but RIU did it perfectly. Love it!

Staff was not friendly. One of staff name was cruze? Pool Photographer staff. She was very rude.

The transportation is included but DO NOT FALL for their scam lol , they’ll invite you to go tour a hotel(is really nice) and try to convince to get a timeshare haha, we were supposed to get a activity for $100 ended up paying all of it lol, still enjoyed it but they wasted 4 HRS of our vacation. DESTINATION SERVICES BTW

The staff was super friendly. The property was super clean. There was always a staff member cleaning the floors and windows. They also made sure the mini bar was always stocked with beer and water. I thought the food was very good especially the Italian restaurant and the Steak restaurant(get the filet mignon) Buffets were fine for breakfast and lunch. Entertainment was ok. For younger people, the RIU santa fe next door had pool parties and dj. There were several people on the first floor that you could book excursions with. We used Oscar. He always wore a dark red shirt. Very helpful. We booked snorkeling, parasailing, camel rides. About the only thing I didn't like was that the beach was closed because of undertow. There were beaches you could get a water taxi to take you there. We didn't go there however. I would definitely recommend this resort.

Couldn’t go in water on beach ! Dangerous

All-inclusive resort. They had one restaurant with breakfast and dinner buffets that had the most variety of any buffet we have eaten at. They also had 5 specialty restaurants and 2 swim up bars. They had two large pools besides the smaller swim-up bar pools and a sister hotel with water slides and pool parties 4 days of the week. The room and food were excellent. The only problem, although it was on a beautiful beach, it was unswimmable due to rip tides. Highly recommended.

We came with a large group and I would 100% do it again! The pools and swim up bars were always clean and refreshing! The staff was attentive, polite and fun to talk to! The rooms were a great size and clean. The property was beautiful, especially the ocean view from the pools. You can see the bay and lover's beach and at night the sunset was breath taking. The beach area in the resort was nice and had lots of shade. You couldn't really put your feet in the ocean unless you walked farther down toward the bay. (Waves too big) I didn't mind the walk, it was a good way to see the 3 resorts and the venders and their beautiful goods (they didn't cross the line from the beach to the resort beach). The poolside entertainment was super fun! The food was fantastic! The restaurants were all amazing and top notch, my favourite was the Japanese restaurant! The buffet (breakfast, lunch and dinner) was very delicious and fresh with a different theme every night. (My favourite was Mexican) By the pool was a snack bar (Pepe's) which was very convenient, especially being poolside for hours at a time. They had a 24 hour lounge that was great for a midnight snack after dancing or catching up on emails. The morning coffee house had a great variety of coffee and it was a terrific place to meet up in the morning with our group before or after breakfast. We took advantage of the beautiful lounge for drinks at night for before and after dinner. Thanks for the amazing memories, we will be back!

Loys of food options. Cant get into the ocean from the beach in front of the resort because of the undertow. Wish i had known that - would have preferred a resort where i could get into the water. Our stay was 'all inclusive" and the adult drinks werent very strong. But could always ask for another shot. Service was excellent.

The streets to get to the property are terrible

I fell in love with this place! The beachfront location is ideal, and the views are breathtaking. What really made our stay special, though, was the incredible staff - everyone was warm, welcoming, and made sure we had an amazing time!

Great location, best value in Cabo.

Rooms were cleaned well, mostly everyone on the staff was great! Food was amazing! View is amazing! Close to the marina 10 min uber/taxi.

Staff was wonderful great location.

The Riu is always clean, well kept and has good food with a variety of options. Shows and things to do most all hours of the day. The views from the pool are incredible. If downtown night life is what your into, you can be in downtown Cabo San Lucas in 10 minutes or less and have access to a ton of clubs and fun. Plenty to do for everyone.

I have been staying RIU for the last 10. Years Every time we stay the food has gotten worse They used to have a better cuts of meat different fish now they just recycle breakfast, lunch and dinner so same food different day and I raise the issue with the management at Cabo and Puerto Vallarta every Tim so sorry to say that I’m done staying with RIU

Staff was absolutely phenomenal. I was so impressed with every single person who worked there. Every single person went the extra mile. This was my first stay at an all inclusive and to be honest, I prefer smaller places but we were there for a wedding. Several people in our party got sick, including me and I know to be be very careful in Mexico. I know it's common to get some kind of GI bug in Mexico but I just wonder if producing so much food for so many people makes for a riskier environment. That being said, the food was generally pretty good. The separate restaurants were the best. Preferable over the buffet but hard to get into. The entertainment was really fun and the performers really gave it their all. I think, from what I was told, that for an AI, this one is one of the top ones.

During my stay, I opted for the all-inclusive package, which I expected would provide a range of high-quality dining options. Unfortunately, the food quality was subpar, with limited variety and taste that did not meet the standards I associate with the Riu brand. Additionally, I found that the dining areas often lacked availability unless you were on line to receive a buzzer at 6:00 PM. Then by 6:45 they close service. So your only option is the buffet. I would have never stayed here had I known RIU I restaurants are managed like this. Your on vacation, who leaves the beach and pool areas at 5:30 in order to get a table buzzer? Rui can't even give a time to return. Moreover, I observed serious management shortcomings throughout my visit. Staff members seemed overwhelmed and had zero accountability or common sense. Hotels.com also offered the return to airport voucher that never went through nobody can figure that one out either with the exception of my wallet for another $100 Moreover, It became evident that there was a lack of accountabilityand comment sense

Absolutely LOVED our stay at this hotel! We spent the majority of our time at the swim up bar enjoying the endless delicious drinks and beautiful views. The hotel staff was very friendly and they kept the entire hotel very clean. We read reviews knocking the food but we thought it was great! Our favorite restaurants were Krystal and the Steakhouse. The buffet was always fantastic with so many options to choose from. We also ate at the Mexican restaurant, which was our least favorite. We loved that we were able to also go to the Santa Fe next door for their parties ,which were a blast! I'm glad that we chose a room with partial oceanview as it still had great views of the ocean and was lovely to sit in the balcony to relax. Highly recommend!

Dear Resort Management, I am writing to express my serious concern regarding our recent stay. My partner and I became extremely unwell with food poisoning last day of our stay. The illness began the night before we checked out, causing intense vomiting, severe diarrhea, and debilitating body pain. These symptoms made our journey home very difficult and uncomfortable. My partner vomiting all the way in the flight! Due to the severity of the situation, even we called a doctor, who charged us $225 US. We are still not feeling well today, and because of my ongoing pain, we may need to seek further medical attention at the hospital. We kindly ask that you conduct an immediate and thorough investigation into your food preparation and hygiene standards to prevent this dangerous situation from happening to other guests. We are deeply disappointed that a vacation we looked forward to ended this way. Thank you
