Krafft Basel

We truly enjoyed our stay. The Krafft was conveniently located near Old Town, shops and restaurants. It’s was right on the beautiful Rhine River. We loved getting easy dinners or lunches at the Coop close by. We also loved the charcuterie at the sister wine bar across the street. The hotel restaurant was superb.

I'm not one to leave reviews, but our stay at the Krafft Basel was so exceptional, I needed to give them some kudos! The location us perfect, right on the Rhine and easy to reach from the train station via Basel's tram system. The hotel is right next to the Mittlere Brücke bridge, so it was an easy walk to the old town and to museums or Basel Catherdral. If you can, book a balcony room with a river view. One of our favorite activites was sitting and watching people float the Rhine (and we had our chance to float a few times as well. They even supply a float bag in each room). We were with a group of our family and the balcony was large enough to fit 5 or six or us at a time. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. We had booked a suite figuring our adult son could stay with us on a cot or sofa bed. But we found out upon check-in that the room we had booked could not accommodate a cot (it was up a winding set of stairs). The receptionist quickly switched our room with another room booked by our group and all was well. This was my fault for not contacting the hotel before booking a room to confirm accomodation for the extra person. If we hadn't had a group of rooms, this could have been a disaster! The 3 days we were there were so hot I also can't express how wonderful it was to have easy and free access to water, cold drinks, cold towels in each floor. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent. We had a wonderful time and I would not hesitate to book Krafft Basel again.

Floor was warped and could be a trip hazard.

Says ac but there was no way it was working. Little to no air flow in the rooms and very very small rooms at that.
