We stayed at the Hyatt Regency for 4 nights and mostly enjoyed the hotel. We were a family of 4 (kids 14, 11). The hotel didn’t seem “full”, even with it being our March Break. We were always able to get 4 pool loungers (before 7am). We would suggest booking your reservations for onsite dinners as soon as possible. However there are amazing restaurants which you can walk to along the beach toward/ at Whalers Village. Nice shops, shaved ice, and service at the hotel. Our Expedia booking included buffet breakfast (highly recommend). We also paid for access to Regency Club which offers extra snacks, drinks, meals at different times throughout the day. We didn’t feel this extra cost was worth it. At other hotels there was ample availability throughout the day. Here, only certain hours. We often still had to buy snacks from the pool restaurant and convenience store between meal times. The gym was one of the best we’ve used. We ate at the steakhouse; “Son’z” (our only reso onsite) and although good, we didn’t think it was amazing. The penguin area is under repair so the penguins were only there for our last morning. We were also incorrectly charged for towels on our last day so be sure to check for that when checking out. They removed the charge without issue. We didn’t have hot water for showers 1 morning, and our curtains couldn’t be closed but overall, we really liked the property, beach and stay.

When I was there the pool was closed for 2 days. They were also doing some other construction. That is fine,but they should have offered a small discount for the inconvenience of being at a resort with no pool. The staff was great. Friendly. The resort was clean and well maintained.

Beautiful property and great location. Rooms were modern and comfortable. We ate at Japengo’s which is an excellent Asian restaurant! Staff was courteous, personable, friendly and helpful. Self parking was easy as well. Pools were top notch and towel caddy was genius!

We had an amazing time at this resort! Service was phenomenal; the front desk, the valet, all the restaurants provided a top notch experience for us. Highlights were the lava tube slide, virgin drinks at Umalu, the penguins, the bracelet and lei making activities, and the Swan Court breakfast. Having Whaler’s Village so close for some food/drink and shipping variety was really nice too. We ended up going to the Hyatt next door for their pool and hot tub (the ones at the Regency felt more mediocre, but I’m sure the littles really enjoyed the Napili pool). The water machines were a little outdated, as well. And they did put a huge hold on my credit card upon arrival that I wasn’t exactly expecting, but I ended up spending all of that (and then some) anyway. Overall, we had the experience of a lifetime, and I would highly recommend the Hyatt Regency Maui to anyone… especially families!

Room seemed newly renovated and had automatic lights come on in bathroom and by beds at night, but not very soundproof. Restaurant food and drinks good, but expensive. $25 for burger & fries, pina colada $20. Fast check in and arm bands act as your room key. Pool area nice, but beach sidewalk and beach area nearby being renovated, so loud heavy machinery was using the sidewalk right next to the pool. Room 1602 was noisy due to being right above valet parking area and next to access road that has early morning truck traffic. 20 minute walk from Whaler's shops, ABC store and restaurants.

Had an amazing time at this resort. The staff was amazing, from front desk, restaurants, and valet. Beautiful, well manicured grounds and 24 hour pool. Appreciated that we could use the Hyatt Vacation Club next door as they too had an amazing pool and hot tubs. The towel distribution and return machines were very handy, wish all resorts had this system. While the beach right in front of the property is quite narrow, you can walk in either direction and the beach widens out. Great snorkeling right there, saw plenty of beautiful fish and turtles. Nice to have the laundry facilities on site. And lasty, the Swan breakfast buffet was delicious and a welcome addition!

This was a great resort. If construction on the pool wasn't going on during our stay, it wouldve been better. This resort is at the end of Kaanapali area so we walked about 20min to Whalers Village. The rooms looked great and upscale. Having two mugs or glasses in the room for reuse would've been helpful. The pools were warm so can dip in right away. The kids did prefer to use the pools nextdoor at the Hyatt condos, the pool food and drinks were much cheaper there as well.

The Hyatt is so beautiful and peaceful. We loved seeing the penguins. The pool is opened 24 hours which is nice. Access to clean pool towels 24 hours a day. Steps away from the beach is nice. The breakfast buffet was 5 stars. All the staff were kind and helpful. We are definitely going back..

Staff are wonderful and kind. Property is beautiful and clean. Family friendly but not loud or obnoxious. There was construction happening while I was there but it was not an issue. Breakfast buffet probably the best I have ever had. I will be back.

My husband, daughter and I stayed for one week, this was our first family vacation so we were looking for an amazing experience. The staff was very helpful and nice when we had questions or just passing by. The facilities were clean and inviting. We requested a full turndown service on day four, it was completed within the hour. Our room was very clean and the views were spectacular! The pool was very clean, plenty of shade throughout the deck area and close beach access. The food was delicious at all the restaurants within the grounds. The staff waiting the pool area were so nice and quick with orders and attending every 30 minutes to ensure we were happy. The customer service is phenomenal! The Hyatt is outstanding and our go to for the future!

I use to stay at this property every year for about a decade when I lived in Seattle. The Hawaii vibe is not there anymore outside the Luau which was great. Got VIP tickets for my wife’s Birthday! Had to wait in line despite the VIP status. Wasn’t expecting that! Show was amazing. Love the penguins and the assorted exotic birds. Mold on the ceiling of our oceanfront room was not acceptable but couldn’t change rooms. Took pictures of it for proof to who it may concern. My wife had to take a pill each night so it was not going to bother her too bad but not great customer service! This should never be the experience for someone who is spending this kind of money in Hawaii! Probably will never get her back to the island that I grew to love so much in the pass! Even throwing a country concert on the property while there with no proceeds to help La Haina Strong didn’t make sense to us. We bought a lot of local made pieces to help out the local artists and a large cooperation can’t do it as well? That’s not very charitable for its own islands sake!

The ocean front location of the hotel on Kaanapali is amazing!! The hotel is older but the rooms have been extensively remodeled. The woodwork in the inner courtyard shows some age and water damage. Beyond that, this hotel is outstanding!

Excellent hotel. Very nice rooms, excellent ocean views from your balcony. They have a lot of amenities on property, a beautiful, large garden with various animals to walk through (including penguins!), great pool and pool area. The lobby level has a nice open feel, with basically a small shopping center inside the hotel to include 2 excellent restaurants and a coffee shop. The only issue I could conceive of bringing up is the location on the beach- the beach directly in front of the hotel isn't that great so we did walk 5 minutes away to get to a nicer section of beach but that was no show stopper, given its location on Kaanapali its also in walking distance from a lot of other shops, restaurants, whalers village and a 2-3 minute uber to Lahaina for more options.

Liked to proximity to beach! Lots of pool options! Staff was very courteous. Downfalls, had a room next to elevators, they are not very quiet! Our room also was above valet parking, loud, constant traffic, lots of beeping day and night! Restaurants were always full, not able to get reservations. Had to go elsewhere for meals.

Beautiful beachfront property. We stayed here for 7 nights and had an overall positive experience. Kids loved the pool and easy beach access. Staff were all so courteous and professional. Our only gripe is that wiFi/Internet connection in the room and inside the property was very slow, if at all existent.

A lot of construction going on that we weren’t informed about. Checkin process was rushed and I had to keep asking what benefits and amenities came with club access and if there was any entertainment happening. I was told to scan the QR code on a paper and she called for the next person in line. Bathrooms are old and hallways are unappealing with empty dirt pits on the 14th floor. Breakfast buffet didn’t have an omelette station. The club lounge was average and usually crowded. Pool chairs are all taken by 7am. The pool cabanas are over $300 and all you get is a pitcher of water and cup of pineapples. Not much of a beach at this location. There was usually only one concierge that was always busy so you’re standing in line or walking away to give up. The beds were comfortable and the swans and birds were a nice touch but that’s about it. I would not recommend it.

Old outdate property - My last visit with this property was 15 years ago and the property hadn’t changed much. Unfortunately, they’ve done nothing to keep the property updated and the level of customer service was poor. Definitely won’t go back

I recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa and overall had a great experience. It was our 40th anniversary and we had a perfect stay. We felt welcomed from the moment we checked in. Amazing front desk staff! They went over and above. Entering our room we were wowed by the ocean view. Housekeeping left us a congratulation card and plumeria flowers around the room, which was a VERY nice and appreciated touch. The breakfast staff at the Swan Court were amazing. We enjoyed talking to them every morning - Flo and Elena took great care of us. Breakfast every morning was our favorite. Nice way to start the day with the staff's smiles and cheerful greetings. It has a nice happy bustling vibe. The resort location is good and the Hyatt has a lot of amenities. You can also use the pool next door at Hyatt vacation club (we actually liked this pool the best). We tried the resort restaurants: Umalu had a really good chicken and risotto dish and our waitress was so nice. Japengo has a good sunset view, and Sonz has a nice nighttime ambiance, but be prepared as both of these restaurants are pricey. This was a 10 out of 10 vacation.

Excellent hotel. Very nice rooms, excellent ocean views from your balcony. We had a wonderful stay at the Hyatt Maui! It is so conveniently located to some of our favorite beaches and it’s walking distance to Whaler’s Village where you’ll find great dining and shopping. If you don’t want to walk, the resort also has a great little coffee shop and some delicious dining options as well. The highlight for my kids was definitely the water slides and resident penguins. They gave such a great presentation on the penguins every morning, the kids absolutely loved it! Rooms were spacious and clean, no complains.

This was a great location for our 1st trip to Maui. The property was beautiful!! The staff so welcoming & friendly. I would recommend renting a car as the resort is about 40 minutes from the airport. Also so you can get around the island. Whalers village was also very nice & convenient with shopping and food options. The only issue was the trolly did not come on schedule & walking at night is not ideal on the main road, there’s no walking through the beach to Whalers, the path takes you to the main street so if you’re dressed for a night dinner it’s kind of a pain to walk back to the resort. Not a deal breaker though.

We upgraded to ocean front and it was the best decision made!! Ocean is literally at the front of the property and easy to access. Little bit of construction but was no big deal. Amazing pools, great access to restaurants at the hotel amd close (i.e. walkable) to shopping and other restaurants. Perfect location. We will ne back!

The property was great. The beach was nice. Due to erosion the beach path was washed out between the hotel and Whalers Village, which made us walk on the street because we had a stroller. Parking was a pain.

The hotel was very clear with various restaurants on-site. There was plenty of parking as well as the option to use valet. There is a nice walking pathway along the beach that leads you to a nearby shopping center. You also have the option to use a trolley, which is free to resort guests.

Nice place, try it out if you don’t mind okay. The grounds and rooms are nice, but the pool is over crowded. Try the Hyatt Club next door! Less crowded and everything is cheaper. We tried the restaurants on grounds and weren’t impressed, at all. The steak house is very low quality and very pricy. The “sushi” restaurant has poor service and the food was just okay…. If you know sushi then don’t even bother. Anyway, we went back to our room where I ordered room service. My food was brought, which was good. The server even brought us a gift bag once he learned it was our second meal of the night. Overall I was hoping for more here. I wanted to love it. They greeted us with flowers and great service. Rooms were kept clean. The service and crowded pool (which should be cleaned daily) along with the price really shut me down. I won’t be back. We will Air BnB next time. No point in this. I hope Hyatt reads this and fixes some things. When I asked staff about the restaurants I was told they were independent. If so, they are dragging you down Hyatt.

Overall, a wonderful stay. I recommend this resort, especially for the people who work there. They really seem to care about people enjoying their stay. Another highlight is the room! Standard room is quite big with a ton of storage. That really helped keep things neat and orderly for my stay. Bed was super comfy. Dinner at Japengo was delicious. Recommended!! Only quibble is that I would like more dining options for longer hours. Outside of that, it was pretty awesome!

The included breakfast was spectacular. Best breakfast anywhere. The other restaurants on the property are ok. There is a resort fee daily and a parking fee daily and those ads up quick. The beds are extremely comfortable. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. They remembered me and called me by name at the breakfast place after day 3.
