Hotel Chelsea

In the booking it doesn’t say that there’s no swimming pool on site you have to walk seven blocks or eight blocks to go to the swimming pool and then they give you a free voucher for drinks and that’s eight blocks in the opposite direction. Crazy they don’t have that on site.

When I first arrived at the property, I was informed that I needed to pay an additional $102 in order to access my room. The staff called this fee a resort fee, but I was very confused and was not expecting to pay any additional fees because I booked a package deal through Expedia. I ended up having to pay the fee, or I would have been stranded without a place to sleep for the night. I am not sure who to blame for this, either Exedia didn't communicate to me this valuable information or the hotel made it up. Nevertheless, I am not sure why the hotel would be charging a resort fee when its location is far from a resort. They do not include breakfast, they do not have a gym, and they do not have a pool. They only offer a bed to sleep in and a shower to wash off.

This is a great place to stay to be near the action, without breaking the budget. The rooms are adequate and the bathrooms are clean. We like the older buildings which have more character than today's stale and typical environment. The parking is the toughest part to deal with. If you are coming in on the weekends, the best option we found was the Bank of America building next door. They accept cash payment only, $50 for 24 hours. Its well lit and attended until late in the night. Aside from this you are street parking and can only pay for 8 hours max. The Cuban restaurant at this hotel is a good place as well. The water pressure was decent, but not amazing. Beds were comfortable ACs blew nice and cold free Ice available

Had to unplug one lamp to plug in phone. Only 3 plugs in entire bedroom area plus one in bathroom Bathroom is , maybe 20 square feet but that includes the door that opens into the sink & cabinet. The toilet is crammed between sink and shower. Shower is spacious. Probably nicest thing in the room but it definitely could be cleaner. I scraped off mildew with my fingernail. Used a washcloth and hand soap to clean the rest of the walls. Desk is 18” deep and 36” wide. First floor sounds like it is over the kitchen Loud until at least midnight Construction on a building next door is VERY loud A loud bird outside our window TV had no main channel. Had to sign into my own account to watch something Lost OEM TV remote left our room with a terrible RCA replacement Small fridge packed with hotel stuff ( expensive ), no room for your own. Had to take their stuff out. Flight bottles of tequila and other liquor sitting in desk. If you have kids, put them in the safe in the closet. $34 a day resort fee and there is nothing here. The fee is usable at a Sister property 2 or 3 blocks away. I don’t remember seeing the resort fee online. There is nothing at this location. No gym, pool, parking, drink machine. I went to 7-11 a block away for drinks and a few snacks. It sucked, too.

No kettle for hot water. The swimming pool is tricky, they borrow from another hotel. You should walk 15' :(. The smell is bad, especially in the corridor.

It was just ok. Tiny elevator and outdated lobby, halls, carpets, etc. my room was nicely sized I suspect only because it was handicap accessible. There were no real amenities besides a bed to sleep in. Ok for the cost I guess. Pool located at another hotel. No parking so I spent a ton parking on the street and had to keep updating the meter.

My room was big, spacious and beautiful. Property is close to everything and 5 minute walk from the beach. Only downside is parking not included and it costs a ton to park on the street close to the hotel

The key cards never work to get in the room. The water doesn’t really get hot. The room was not really clean. There were lashes and hair on the floor from the previous people who stayed. There were bugs in the bathroom. There was a slow drain in the sink. There was no microwave in the entire hotel. You have to pay a hidden fee when you arrive. The location was convenient and everyone who worked there was really nice. I wouldn’t recommend anyone stay here. It’s old and the lobby smells good but the room kind of smelled like mildew. You get what you pay for though.

A very very great deal. Good location with a bar and covered outdoor restaurant located in the lobby area. There are some street "meters" parking right there and a cheaper parking lot on 7th and Washington, maybe 5 blocks away. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance and a short uber ride to anywhere in South Beach. I had the best Mohito I ever had at the bar. No kidding. So much fresh mint. It is an old building so it has a slight musty quality but the AC in the room kept it cool and even on the first floor my room was quiet. Though it's an old building with character, my room and bathroom were modern and spotless. It was a five star experience for the money, but it's not a five star hotel. I'll stay there again.

I would start by saying buyer beware! The ad is very misleading. There is no "deposit." There are however, daily resort fees that are NOT listed in the ad. So, if you do book, even though the receipt and the ad shows you that all taxes and fees are included, you'll be paying $35 per day once you get there. And you won't find that out until you show up and don't have a choice. While it's a common practice, it is NOT common to mislead customers and make it sound like a deal that isn't really a deal and is about the same as every other place once you factor in the extra charges. It's called false advertising. While the hotel itself isn't terrible, there isn't anything that stands out. The ONLY reason I booked is because they didn't include the extra fees so it sounded like I was getting a deal that I wasn't because I had to pay extra when I got there. It's a "boutique" hotel which really means it needs renovating. They offer a free happy hour at a sister property...a mile away...with a sad swimming pool at the same property a mile away. There is a restaurant onsite and it's good Cuban food, but VERY expensive. The only real plus is the location and they give you beach towels, umbrella and chair to use. Again I could have (and should have) paid virtually the same price at most any other place in the area. At least those ads had a clear listing of extra charges to expect. And many of them were a cut above Hotel Chelsea.

Cleanliness definitely a 1 star, we called down to the front desk to tell them our sheets were dirty and they told us they would deal with it in the morning. The floors were so sticky our shoes were sticking to the floors. Beds were hard as a rock I’ll never recommend this place to my clients.

Staff was professional, respectful and very helpful .. I will definitely stay again . Room and bathroom was clean .. everything was in good condition. Bed was very comfortable.. everything was perfect .. will stay again .

The loading zone- non existent. No one site parking, hotel, spa- even though it is advertised it is 20 minutes away at their sister hotel. Absolutely horrible. We tried to venture over to the other hotel to use the pool but we were told the wrong times of operation and couldn’t even use it. The staff has no clue what is going on. They just sit around and talk to each other and play on their phones. My family booked two rooms and one had air conditioning issues and no hot water. The other room had only hot water. Not acceptable. Will never stay here again. Not a safe neighborhood at night.

I stayed in this hotel over night and let me tell you. This hotel was really nasty. The hotel hallway was really dark and it smell bad, like mold. The bedroom was small very small. The bathroom OMG!! The bathroom I took a shower and felt like a need it to take another shower, just to wash the shower/bathroom of me! It was very durty and molding And last I left a towel of mines in the bathroom and they didn't even bother to call me to let me know. First time ever staying there and i promise you wont ever, ever, ever stay there again. Oh they have a restaurant in the main entrance like who does that. You have to walk with all your bags through a bunch of people having dinner. Like why not have another entrance for your hotel guests?! Very disappointed!!

The hot water barely worked the entire stay. Room door hard to open. Some employees were not very welcoming.

ROACHES! broken windos, ripped sheets, noisy, and management doesnt care. I was given a generic buianess card when i complianed. AND was sent to 711 for coffee in the morning. Just poor in every way. Cant find a way to upload pucs of the RIACHES! Just stay away!

Hotel was in a great location. Friendly staff. Beds were comfortable and clean. Rooms were a tad bit small and there was no hot water. Other than that it was a good hotel to stay at.

Room does not look like the picture displayed. Had to ask for extra towels. NO HOT WATER! Was told to start the shower at the 7’oclock position and gradually turn and wait for the water to heat up at 3 am. It took 45 minutes from there to get room temp water. By that time it was almost 4 am then. Mind you we let the water run 30 min before calling to the front. Upon check out the guy at the desk said that’s how the water is in that area… really… Sir I am from the area and this is not normal and then was asked why did I shower so late…. Moral of the story … I will be contacting the manager Maria and going up the chain because this has been one of the worst hotels and customer service experience I have yet to encounter!

This is a lovely hotel in a fantastic location! My room was clean and the staff members were very friendly and helpful. Check-in and check-out were seamless. I would definitely stay here again and I highly recommend this hotel.

Check in greeter not friendly, property is located right off south beach. Room was noisy all night into morning from the front lobby bar and restaurant area. While trying to sleep room back up to an alley where people were talking below you all night.

Hotel Chelsea is a nice place to stay in South Beach. The only thing they could improve on are more accessible outlets or usb connections and a mirror in the bedroom. The outlets are really lacking.

Very outdated. Rooms way too small. Will not stay here again. Not what it showed when I booked it. False advertising.

Nice hotel overall, good location. Didn’t offer as much as other hotels. For example limited plugs for chargers, only 3 channels on tv, not rude but not friendly staff. Good location, room was cleanish. Overall not bad, but not terrible.

The property was outdated but it was conveniently located and that was the main reason I chose this hotel. It definitely needs some makeover!

The bed was very hard and the pillows were very flat. There was music blasting directly across the street until 3am. We got little sleep at all.

The staff were friendly and accommodating and the property was very clean. The elevator wasn't working the first two days, but the staff brought our my luggage to our 3rd floor room. The restaurant associated with the hotel - was charming, the food was delicious, and the wait staff was wonderful. I'd return to stay here again!

It was our first visit at the Chelsea Hotel at South Beach Miami. We have stayed many times at various hotels before and after joining cruise ships. This hotel was located right in the heart of South Beach and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Special mention of the wonderful front desk lady Isabella and manager Maurizio who are both passionate to please their guests. Will definitely stay there every time we visit Miami South Beach. Great Service

They cancelled our room even though we informed them that we would be arriving late. He argued with me about the problem rather than trying to fix the issue. The room was still unoccupied. Old hotel. No happy faces. Would not go back. Was not a good start to our vacation.

I found the cleaning staff very friendly, smiling and greeting me in the hallways. Different experience with staff at front desk. In every instance during my stay I had to verbally get the attention of the staff person to be noticed, TWICE when I was standing right in front of them. (One finally looked up from his phone and asked how long I had been standing there.)

Stay away from this property! My flight to Miami was delayed and before my departure I tried to contact them several times, none of my 50 calls were answered. A friend of mine whose lived nearby was there in person, talked to the clerk and asked if they could and would make a late checkout. The clerk gave his word that he would be there all night until our arrival and that we didn't need to worry about it. We decided to maintaing our trip and reservations ONLY because the hotel were going to accept our late checkin (around 2h30am). When we got there, there was NO ONE to check us in. We had no place to stay! In the next day I contacted expedia and asked for a full refund because the company didn't commited to what they promised, and still I haven't heard back from them. So if you can, stay away from expedia, and stay away from this "hotel". I have pictures of the counter at 2am showing no one there to check us in. Also the lobby had cockroachs wondering around. Dirty place, horrible experience.

Check in took 3 hours. I booked through Expedia on AMEX. Expedia charged deposits. Upon arrival, I was asked to show evidence of AMEX. Then was told hotel does not accept AMEX for payment. Had to be one phone with Expedia at front desk for them to speak with the hotel accounting departments about this. Expedia said that the hotel had nothing on their website about not accepting Amex. After 3 hours of being on hold and multiple department transfers, Expedia accepted full payment for the hotel. But 3 hours standing up on the hotel phone at the front desk at the start of a milestone birthday vacation is horrible. Finally, hotel looks aged - run down.

Hotel Chelsea is the cutest little hotel I’ve stayed at in a long time. You can’t beat the location - I walked everywhere or took the free trolley to all the places I wanted to see, and I was a solo traveller. I felt safe as I walked. The staff is honestly the reason that I will return and the reason that I will tell everyone I know about this quaint little spot. Maria, the general manager, leads the team. She is kind, personable, and super helpful. Her employees generally seem happy to work for her! I will definitely return, and can’t wait to do so!

Would not let us check in because we arrived too late and had tried calling the hotel since 8:00 PM that evening

Close to beach

This hotel is in such an amazing location. There is a Cuban restaurant directly underneath it and it’s literally a block from the beach. There’re 2 bus stops less than 5 mins away and it’s in a walkable area.

My family and I (4 children, 4 adults) felt right at home here. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. Everything you could need or want is all around the area and Miami Beach is just a few blocks away. We definitely will be back!

Excellent for the price. Clean rooms, helpful staff and amazing location. CVS right across the street, tons of shops and restaurants and a hop skip and jump away from beach. Convenient parking garage two blocks away. Thank you for a great stay!

Great location!

Very convenient to nightlife, restaurants and beaches. As long as you have a room in the back of the property then there will be no street noise.

The hotel was decent and convenient. The staff at the hotel itself were all wonderful. This hotel boast a hosted happy hour with a sister property down the road. The bartender there must really hate his job. He was grumpy and short with all the customers. The drink was house tequila and water (maybe flat soda water?) and we were told no limes would be given when we asked for one. We would have stayed to purchase another beverage had he not been rude.

Location, location, location. Hotel had an excellent cuban restaurant on premises, easy walk to the main South Beach area, and room was fairly clean. Some sticky shelves and spaces. I would stay there again to be in the tick of it

Loved the restaurant and bar in the front and lobby. Convenient place to stay. Staff were great and the rooms were clean and stylish. The bathroom mirror was quite sexy.

The hotel was great to stay at before a cruise. Restaurant at the hotel was very good.

Loved the decor in the room. Very unique, modern with an industrial twist. The restaurant was great. Amazing food and service. Try the empanadas, you won’t be disappointed.

Great experience there for the weekend staff very friendly was nice and clean.. people friendly. Also, it’s near everything restaurants beach.. my next visit to Miami I’ll definitely stay there again . Also, the restaurant there the Cuban Havana amazing food and great staff..

Service at the restaurant is not great but then again that’s Miami for ya. Hotel front desk was great. Overall the room is nice and clean. For the price I’m actually blown away.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Chelsea! It's really cute, clean, aesthetically pleasing, the beds are extremely comfortable, and the staff are all very warm. We would definitely stay here again! The location is super convenient too, and the Cuban restaurant on the first floor is delicious.
