Avalon Hotel

One of the many charming Art Deco hotels on Ocean Drive. The restaurant was superb and the service excellent.

Great property just disappointed that there were no microwaves available. It’s best to eat all your food but sometimes that’s hard to do.

Staff were very nice, helpful, polite and efficient. Room was super clean. Restaurant was very good. We reserved a room with a beach view which was lovely. Bar has a cozy atmosphere. Missed not having a pool and a seating or lounge area especially that there is such a perfect beach and promenade view.

With no warning, when we arrived the elevator WAS NOT WORKING. The room assigned was on the THIRD FLOOR. I am 74 and my companion is 70. NO alternatives or compensation were offered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This hotel was wonderful. Great location, beach access with beach chairs and towels available. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were cozy and clean. Breakfast was exceptional and well priced for hotel guests. Really loved the water refill station on the floors to reuse the aluminum bottles provided in the room. Wish we could've stayed longer!

We arrived early due to an overnight international flight, and the hotel was great at providing us with a room for us to catch up on some sleep. Breakfast was great. They are right opposite the beach, and they even provide beach chairs and towels.

Great friendly place , charged an extra $44 when got there , saying it was a resort fee without the resort. ???!!!! Everyone was really nice great experience.

Good location, friendly and service minded staff, clean and comfortable rooms, would stay here again if at the South beach. If looking for beach comfort pick an hotel with service (chairs) at he beach, if you donät mind bring a chair provided by the hotel then Avalon is a good choice to stay.

The elevator is an issue

Iconic hotel on South Beach! Front desk is very helpful! The Valet for my car was amazing also. Great views and quick walk to the beach. They provide towels and chairs!

I was cautiously optimistic when we booked here. We stayed 4 nights and we loved it. The rooms are older and smaller, but the cleanliness and service well made up for that. I thought the small bathroom would be an issue. Not at all. It was actually very comfortable, shower head and water pressure were great, and the shower was cleaner than most newer hotels I’ve stayed in. Couple other highlights for us were the fabulous (and affordable) breakfast downstairs, including the servers. And walking convenience to everything we needed. The space was somewhat limited and their were the quirks of older buildings, While we likely won’t stay that long in SoBe again, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at Avalon again for a short beach trip. They did a great job at making us feel comfortable and well taken care of.

Excellent stay! Everything was perfect. Only complaint would be our towels for the bathroom had stains on them. Throw out stained towels.

Dear Hotel Avalon South Beach Team, I’m writing about my recent stay (July 8th-12th) to share some feedback. Your housekeeping team was excellent – please give them my thanks! However, we experienced several maintenance issues. Our room had a worsening sink leak that created puddles requiring towels to manage. I spoke with Camilo and Salomon about switching rooms on day three, but understand you were fully booked. The bathroom had mold, rust, and musty odors, with no exhaust fan to help with humidity. On our final night, we lost power in 90-degree heat. When my teenager developed a fever, we had to find other accommodations at 2 AM, ending up at the Bentley on 5th Street. Given these inconveniences during our 4-day stay, I’d appreciate discussing compensation or a future discount. Thanks for considering my feedback.

Great location, convenient to the nightlife, but quiet enough to rest. Rooms are a little old fashioned but suitable. The single problem I saw was one afternoon of what appeared to be termites in the window and ceil, and a couple without wings in the bathroom. It was only one day and killed about 8 during that one time but didn't see another.

Great location on the strip and close to the beach. I was a bit nervous that it would be loud, but this was not a problem. Nice to have beach chairs and towels provided. The room was comfortable and impeccably clean - there was a strong smell of bleach in the corridors when the rooms were being serviced, but it was never an issue in the room. Had breakfast in the restaurant and it was very good, did not have dinner. Staff were always warm and welcoming. On the downside, I was a bit taken aback that we did not receive a statement at the end of our stay and I have a question about charges that was not fully answered.

Our room was a bit dated with old ac machine (very loud). The on site restaurant was excellent. The staff very friendly.

Rooms are small. Hotel is a bit older so it does not have a new, contemporary feel if that’s what you’re looking for. I did not like that there were no drawers or dressers to unpack clothes for the duration of our stay. Living out of a suitcase for the week was the only option. Lastly, the restaurant and bar closed down at 10pm, even on Friday & Saturday nights. I am not a late night partier, by any means, but on vacation, in South Beach, Miami, it would have been nice to have a nightcap later than 10pm at the hotel bar. I, personally, will not stay here again, and would certainly not recommend it.

The hotel is old but clean. You can hear your neighbor rooms. The bathroom is very small no room for personal stuff. Do NOT spend money on partial ocean view, it is not at all worth it.

As the other reviews have indicated, this property is very old. Therefore, you can hear absolutely everything. And I mean everything. A normal conversation comes through the wall walls. It’s not worth the money. The location is spectacular. It was clean. No roaches. You’re in the heart of South Beach.

Julio rectified a pest problem and provided excellent customer service. Richard was witty, charming, and engaging. Overnight staff were rude, sleeping, and surly (0230 - 0530).

The Avalon Hotel was a good choice for our 3 night warm getaway from the winter. Comparing similar options, this was likely a great option. There was self-serve coffee in the mornings which we appreciated. A few things I noticed that I wish were different: sound - In the mornings and evenings we could hear every door on our floor shut (the door closing sound is loud). This is not make/break on its own, of course. Second, with check in at 4 and check out at 11, you might expect your room to be serviced sometime between 11-3, right? On our first full day, I called the front desk because our room was not serviced until after 4PM. By this time, we were back in the room getting ready for dinner so when the attendants knocked on the door, we asked them for clean towels. They proceeded to clean around me while I sat on the bed. I'm a down to earth person so I could deal with that. It is a little odd when they do this without asking or speaking to me at all. On our second full day, after being out all day and hoping to return to a refreshed room, our room was not visited at all. The room itself didn't really need much attention but the towels do need to be replaced daily. The rooms/climate are humid enough that they don't dry quickly so this part of the service. On our way out, I spoke to the front desk and requested a visit. They did not have an explanation and offered to give me towels themselves. On our way back from dinner, I collected them. Overall, we may or may not stay again.

During my stay, the front desk gave my room key to another person without my permission. That person opened my door while I was coming out of the elevator i saw him close the door. I asked him for that key and tried out to see if it was working in my door and it DID. This was an extremely unsafe and unsettling experience. It showed a serious lack of security and concern for guest safety. I would not recommend staying here until the hotel addresses this issue.

One of the thoughtful touches we really appreciated was the **reusable aluminum water bottles** provided in the room, which we could refill as many times as we wanted—eco-friendly and convenient! The **staff were all very polite and helpful**, and we especially enjoyed the **complimentary coffee each morning**—a perfect way to start the day. The only downside during our stay was our experience with the **night hostess at the hotel’s restaurant** (we didn’t catch her name, possibly Destina or something similar). She had **short black hair usually tied in a ponytail**, and unfortunately her attitude and approach were quite rude and unwelcoming. It was disappointing considering the rest of the staff were so professional. That said, the **restaurant manager kindly made up for it by offering us a complimentary cake**, which was a lovely gesture and much appreciated. The **guitar music at night was okay**, adding a nice touch to the ambiance, though **we found the restaurant prices to be a bit overrated** compared to other spots we dined at nearby which offered better value. Overall, the Avalon Hotel was a great place to stay, We would definitely consider coming back!

This property is well placed for Miami Beach and has that iconic art-deco look. Unfortunately it suffered from a long power outage during our stay which made for an uncomfortable night. The room is nicely appointed and I’m sure under other circumstances we would have had a great stay. The staff were very apologetic and helpful and we received a full refund. The problem was fixed next morning by the power company, the hotel was not at fault. We would stay here again.

I had request additional towels since there were 3 of us and they only gave 2 towels They said they would leave them in the room 8-9 hours later I come back no towels. I go to the desk they say they will send them now Wait 15 minutes Still no one We have dinner reservations and all need to shower after the ocean- they just made excuses. I expect additional comps when this gross neglect of something so easy isn’t addressed in a whole working day

Hôtel really well located and the staff is friendly. The beach right in front of the Hôtel is perfect. A lot of good restaurants nearby so you don't have to take any transportation.

Loved everything about Avalon! The location is perfect directly across from Miami public beach, and right on Ocean Drive where you can walk for blocks and blocks for dining, drinks, music. A mile and a half away is Lincoln Road with tons of shopping and more restaurants. Collins and Washington Avenues also provide more shops, restaurants and places to grab delicious cocktails. There’s no parking on site but there is a very reasonably priced parking garage a block and a half away. There’s a lovely restaurant and a cute bar area on site. I would definitely stay there again.

We were staying at Avalon for a couple days after a cruise. It's a great location right on the ocean. Staff are great. Room was nice with a partial ocean view. We did have breakfast which wasn't the best but the staff were good. It was soooo hot we decided to leave a day early. They refunded the day which was very nice being they didn't have too. Would stay again (just not in September).

This was a huge relief, as it allowed us to park conveniently without worrying about additional costs. The process was seamless, and the staff made sure we were taken care of. The customer service was amazing and accommodating! We stayed for 5 nights and every time we had a need or a question, the staff was eager to help - from the front desk to housekeeping to the breakfast staff. The only downside is that the wait staff at the on-site restaurant, which I understand has not much to do with the hotel, was a bit rude. We only ate there once, found other options after that.

Fish called Avalon is a must do when staying in Miami. Breakfast outside was always a fantastic way to start the day. Service is top notch whether at the bar, restaurant or front desk
