The main building is old. The elevator design of going from parking lot to the room is not a smooth connection. You need to change an elevator at second floor from one side through a great hall to the other side. The staff at reception desk is not friendly/ helpful. She did not give any directions. We ended up having to pull our luggages up a stair of several steps to the right elevator to the room. The hallway and our room have bad smells. The room is small. It’s definitely not worth $515/night!

Our 3 night 4 day stay, only 1 day did we receive fresh towels or was the bed made. The 2 dinners we had , the chicken n steak dinners were sent back and ate elsewhere . They need a new chef or change the menu. Otherwise the rest was well, but for a Hilton disappointed.

Hotel Saranac is a first class beautiful Historic gem hidden in the Adirondacks. Check-in was easy, girl at the front desk was lovely and kind, room was charming. Unfortunately, the chemical smell as you entered was overwhelming. I imagined it equaled 100 glade plug ins. At first I thought it was a chemical cleaning supply in the bucket the staff was mopping with, but it was an industrial scent diffuser that unleashed a barrage of "pine" scent that was so overwhelming I instantly got a headache. Later, I called and asked to have it unplugged and the man said No, he would not because no other customer had complained. He also stated that the chemicals were "natural" which is certainly not true. They are a patented chemical concoction that poisons people's endocrine systems. I certainly believe that high end people coming to an Adirondack historical hotel want some real pine tree branches and fresh air, not industrial chemicals.

I have stayed at Hot Sara before and enjoyed it. This time, however, we were placed in the "annex" section. The room was terrible - we nicknamed it "the dungeon". Little tiny windows, bare bulb overhead lighting, inadequate bulb-type bedside lighting. We had a suite and it was the least luxurious thing I have ever stayed in. The shelf under the bathroom sink fell to the floor every time you tried to take a towel of the shelf! Add to that the fact that a wedding party booked the ballroom bar so we could not use one of our favorite parts of Hot Sara and the whole weekend was just a disaster. To add insult to injury, we paid over $400 a night for sad, dingy accommodations. Hot Sara - we loved you before, we love you a lot less now. You really need to re-evaluate the annex section of the hotel, decorate the rooms more effectively and charge a lot less until you do!
