The bed was very comfortable. I could adjust the CAC to my personal comfort. Good choice of channels on the TV. No problem getting my laptop online. Gym is small but has a decent selection of cardio and weight equipment. Good array of food at the breakfast buffet. There is street noise in the morning if your room is on the Hampton Blvd. side.

We were in Norfolk for an event at the Ted. This hotel’s proximity was ideal! The Ted is directly across the street. Everything felt safe, clean and convenient. Also, the parking garage is directly next to the hotel which was also convenient however there is a $10 per night parking charge. Will book here again.

Very little water pressure in the showerhead because the spout mechanism would not seal. The icemaker on the second floor did not work. And one of the elevators was out of order. Not great, not terrible.

This is a nice property walking distance to ODU. There is a parking garage conveniently located but be aware there is a $10 charge per car per day for that convenient parking. I was not happy to discover that charge upon check in as I missed it in the fine print There is a free breakfast but it isn't worth mentioning. The restaurant in the building is a nice sports bar with pretty good food. Overall, I would stay there again.

The hotel room had a musty smell and felt very old. The room was so oddly shaped that it was difficult to see the tv from the beds. The water pressure in the shower was horrible. Pictures on the website show a hot tub, but there isn’t one.

Some items in the room did not work like light bulbs had not been changed. Also, the pool was closed for repairs. But otherwise, it was a good place to stay and very clean and service was good.

Only negative was online photo showed a hot tub and pool. Apparently the hot tub has been paved over. Misleading.

Location is great by the university, hotel on average is ok, very limited breakfast and parking is not free.

The hotels business center is 2 outdated computers in the corner of the dining room. This is not a convenient way to conduct business. The computer has Windows 8 as an operating system. Upgrades and updates to the computers are needed. I was surprised that a hotel that is located in the midst of a college campus, has outdated computers.

Hotel party for my 11 year old birthday party. It was cool, the pool is renovated and has salt water.

I cannot believe this property was $370 for one night. This place is GROSS! Hair all over the sink, tub and towels, hard bed, poor insulation (it's loud), outdated, stained and tattered wallpaper, patchwork on doors, grime and mildew in tub, rusty shower rod, broken ice machine, disgusting and stained sofa-- I feel taken advantage of as this property was not advertised this way. The front desk team was amazing but the hotel was one of the worse I've ever stayed in. If I wasn't exhausted when I arrived alone, close to midnight, I would have left.

my family and I for almost a week. Housekeeping is suppose to clean every other day. I had to get my own towel from the front desk everyday. Shower was falling apart. Room smelled like smoke and its a none smoking hotel. TV remote barely worked. I was very displeased with the room. Staff at the front was nice. Not sure if I would come back.

The sofa had stains/spills all over the cushions. No bedding was in the room for the sofa bed. The sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable. One of the pillowcases on the queen bed had a black spot on it.

Dirty room. Booger left on wall next to bed from previous guest. Pubic hairs on body wash, conditioner and shampoo bottles(provided by hotel) in shower. Old nasty blanket in closet used for pull out sofa rust on fixtures in bathroom shower curtain stains

Housekeeping failed to clean room. Upon reporting this finding, we were told they don't preform housekeeping for 2 day stays. This was not disclosed at reservation time or check-in. Has this been disclosed, we would not have stayed at this hotel.

The hotel itself is a bit dated, not the cleanest, but perfect for my purpose of being close to ODU campus. Staff was VERY polite and accommodating.

Took one to front desk and staff at desk acknowledged what it was and moved us to another room. Was told manager would call us in morning. Never got call. Sent another message to them and got a email stating that they take these seriously and will investigate. Never asking about us! We were worried entire trip that we had bugs in our luggage or clothes. No compassion by front desk leader about our stuff or our worries.

Room was clean but saw a cockroach

Aerial photo is nice but street view is not. Our room was dated for what I expected. No daily room cleaning; had one day of a “refresh” (for a 3 night stay) for which we got clean towels but no cleaning of sink, toilet, tub etc & no change of sheets, gross!!

The staff were great and the ladies at the desk were super accommodating. The room was dated, but it was nice that it had a somewhat separate seating area with a little couch, desk, along with a little sink and mini fridge. The beds were tucked behind a half wall which i liked. The shampoo and conditioner actually left my hair looking really nice, so that was cool. They dont really seem to actually clean the rooms though-more just like a quick wipe-down and surface clean. I dropped something on the carpet so wiped it up and the wipe picked up quite a bit of dirt from the rug along with crumbs and hair. There was a hair on the conditioner pump in the shower when I went to take my first shower. The phone on the nightstand had a blinking red button that said press for messages, but when i pressed it nothing happened and the red light kept blinking. It was annoying so i opened the nightstand to put the bible over it to block it out, but it was super sticky and disgusting so i threw that back in the drawer and washed my hands immediately. There was a throwup stain right next to one of the beds, but i could tell it was old. You can easily walk right to Kornblau Field and the campus, as well as a bunch of restaurants. There were a few stores you could easily walk to to grab beer/seltzers. The breakfast at the hotel was decent and there was something for everyone. All-in-all this place is good if you can look past the lack of cleanliness. Great for a cheap short stay

This hotel is dated. The furniture and bathrooms need work. I could have used a handicapped toilet with my bad knees. One of your pictures showed a refrigerator and two glasses, and champagne. I guess our room didn't cut it..

Good visit. Clean facility and quiet Bed and pullows could be a little more comfortable.

There were visible stains and wear and tare on all the funiture. The couch looks as old as the hotel. The only "soft lighting" was in the living area. The bedside lights were bright as daylight. There was an unusual appendix at the end of the bed that I had to cautiously navigate around bc the end of the bed was about a foot from the wall on one side and the dresser was at the foot of the bed on the same side AND in the path to the bathroom. The fan didn't work in the bathroom so the room was stuffy for hours after showering. I have photos but this sote/app wont let me upload them.

Bathroom or neighboring bathroom had a moaning groaning pipe sound that was almost constant, made sleeping soundly very difficult. I stayed in room 513

The TV never worked right in my room (#224). A technician spent some time with it but apparently gave up because he never came back. The remote didn't work well and the TV was missing a bunch of channels. I'm sure the next person (or persons) who stay in the room will also complain about it because it certainly is not fixed.

We enjoyed our stay here, the view looking at Old Dominion University was nice. Very large room! Clean and quiet, except for some road noise. We had no hand soap in the bathroom or kitchen area. No paper towels for cleaning messes. Otherwise we had plenty of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. We would stay again.

Ac unit was very noisy and cycled on and off constantly. Woke us up at every cycle and clunked and clanged all night. Street noise was horrendous. Very hard beds

TV would pause very frequently when trying to stream a movie in our room. Made it unwatchable.

Great location, nice property, great rate. The staff was really nice and very helpful. The only challenge was the layout of the room - the tv straddled both rooms so was hard to see well from either. And the baseboards in the bathroom were pretty dirty.

The staff was AMAZING! The front desk staff was friendly, helpful and made our stay so much more enjoyable. They also helped us out with adding a second night to our stay when we arrived and that made our stay so easy not having to stress finding another place to stay even though they were almost at capacity.

I have stayed here before, and been fine with the place, but on this most recent occasion, it was a mess. To begin with, it took about 25 minutes to check in, due to the power being interrupted at the front desk twice. Each time it happened, as the hard-working front desk attendant had to explain to us, due to nearby construction, the entire system had to reboot, which took a long while. Even after it rebooted, everything was running painfully slow. As for the room itself, it was also pretty beat up, including tears in the carpet, and a large crack in the shower, which also had a very loose faucet fixture. Additionally, almost nothing in the room worked properly: The wall-mounted thermostat didn’t affect the room temperature, which was too cool for a late November day; the TV remote didn’t work, which meant I had to try and manually work the television, which also failed. I tried to phone the front desk about it, but the phone was also not working properly. Eventually, I just walked to the front desk in-person, and the attendant brought around a new remote, but that, too, didn’t work, and worse, the TV kept suddenly turning itself on, over and over into the night, until I finally unplugged it out of total exasperation. Not sure what has happened there, but despite the apologetic staff working hard to overcome all these issues, my stay was pretty unsatisfactory. The place needs some serious attention paid to basic upkeep.

We were surprised to come back at the end of a long day to find the coffee service in the room hadn’t been replaced nor several towels left out for replacement taken care of. Too late to ask about it then, but as we checked out the next morning we were told the maid staff only comes in every other day. When it was clear that this hadn’t been communicated when we checked in, the kind attendant at front desk offered to “comp” our 2 nights of parking. This was the correct gesture (although I did have to call back several days later when it hadn’t been refunded to our charge card). Nice place to stay, just needs a bit of work on communication without and within.

We have stayed at this property several times over the years. Easy parking, nice free breakfast, and reliably comfortable rooms. We like the location as well. Also the restaurant is handy after a long drive

Clean property, with friendly staff, located in a safe area close to ODU and Chartway Arena.

My husband and I stayed on this property to see a comedy show at the Chartway Arena, which is across the street from the property. Excellent location,great parking, love the local restaurants nearby, and the front desk staff was friendly, professional and accommodating. This is our go to each time we visit the area, especially when we attend events at the Chartway Arena. Our luck at the restaurant usually isn't that great, HOWEVER, the walkable restaurants are pretty decent.

The staff was excellent in a respects. The rooms were clean and adequate for our purposes. The location, next to ODU, was good for us as our daughter was in grad school there. The restaurant come in handy for good, quick meals.

The breakfast at the hotel ends at 9:30am. This is very early for someone who is traveling. I think that a more reasonable and realistic time is 10:30am. I heard some of the others at the hotel complaining about this as well. If you don’t want to serve breakfast don’t. This type of behavior leads me to believe that you really do not want to serve breakfast.

Very convenient location. Parking costs extra, but is very very handy. One of the best motel breakfasts we've had. Coffee not quite so good.

I booked a suite for 4 people, requiring the use of the sleeper sofa. Why can’t they be made with softer mattresses? Using the sleeper sofa made for very tight quarters. Only one set of towels were provided for 4 people. At breakfast, the coffee ran out fast without someone checking on it.

Great breakfast options. Monday to Thursday daily food specials. Bartenders at Monarch bar are amazing.

Breakfast not good(eggs tasted funny); Trashcans overflowing in breakfast area; AC in room quite noisy; On our second night there was some type of generator noise(outside our room) that was extremely loud going most the night.
