DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Wilmington

The hotel was clean. The staff was pleasant except the ones smoking in the back lobby. However, only one elevator worked. After waiting an extended amount of time, the working elevator was full. As a result, my daughter and I had to take the steps with our luggage from the fourth floor. I took a tumble down the concrete stairs. Not seriously hurt but for the amount I paid, this is not acceptable.

The walkway leading to the front door needs to be power washed and swept routinely. Have ice makers working on all floors--7th floor was not operational. The complimentary coffee and cookies were excellent and if there was a restaurant, we did not see it.

One elevator not working again. Staff said they were waiting on a “part”. The elevator has not been working for a while. Last year or the year before the elevator was not working. Staff are always friendly and personable. Elevator needs fixed. Could be seen as a sign that property not being properly developed.

Bathroom felt dirty and was very worn. No clock in rooms, too few towels. Fitness facility had too much broken equipment.

All was fine except one of two elevators serving the hotel was out for service. Long waits to go up and down.

The cost is actually more than advertised because there is a boutique fee. The internet is basically unusable. There is no business center at all.

I'll start with the good. The front desk staff was great, very friendly, gave us a warm cookie upon check in, very helpful. The entry was clean and welcoming. The food in the restaurant was good enough. However the hotel was under renovations that weren't listed when I made the reservation. The restaurant has a bar but no drink menus. There was duct tape on the carpet in the hall to guest rooms. They forgot trash bags for the room so I requested some at the front desk, the gentleman was happy to help, but when housekeeping showed up with them and I thanked them I got an unenthusiastic 'Yup' and they looked right at their phone. Granted some tasks are assigned via device these days but as far as customer service goes that was lackluster. The elevator sounded like it was struggling and in the gym the elliptical and treadmill both sounded like something was broken on it, and one of the bikes didn't even turn on. I was also disappointed to see that for a room for 4 guests there were only 3 body towels, I stayed at another place and they had the same towel count so I'm guessing this is a new norm, but I reserved for 4 people, 3 of which are women, 1 who could use a hand towel for their hair one of which has waist length hair that a hand towel won't cover. There were also only 2 wash cloths which if you're washing the things you should be that's something you don't wanna share with someone else. I would not choose to stay there again. It was cheap and I got what I paid for I guess

The Hotel was was clean and the room already cool when we arrived after 10pm. The bed was very comfortable. My husband and I both slept well. My only negatives were the halls aren't air conditioned and the ice maker was not working. All of the staff I met were very nice and welcoming.

The hotel overall was good. For some reason the first floor by the elevator had a very nasty and weird smell like a sewer leak.

Don't stay here. You will be severely disappointed. This hotel is filthy, and the customer service is terrible. My family attended an event that was being hosted at the hotel. Our room was filthy! There was black mold in the sink drain (which I tried to clean before taking a picture), the dust on the vent in the bathroom had so much dust it look like it wasn't cleaned in months, there were food wrappers on the side of the bed, and food crumbs in the closet, and everything was really dusty. We complained and they offered to have housekeeping come the next day. Their excuse was that they are renovating the hotel. I was appalled by this response. My husband took pictures to show the manager and to ensure they cleaned the room properly. We went out (we have two small children that were in the room) and came back to see if the room was cleaned. They made the bed and vacuumed the floor and put fresh towels in the room. The sink was still dirty, the closet still had crumbs, the vent was untouched, and the washcloths had black pubic hair stuck in them. My husband called to complain explaining again that we have small children and that his immune system is compromised due to illness. The hotel did not care and said they would just comp a night and give us free breakfast (which is also terrible). This was still unacceptable we wanted our room clean. We shared our experience with the conference host, and she did she didn't have a great experience either. Find another hotel.

We were shocked to find the bedsheets and pillow cases had not been changed.

This was our second time at this Hotel, rooms are are well, but not properly cleaned. Shower needs new caulk was full of mold. Floor wasn’t properly cleaned. FULL hotel with 1 working Elevator wasn’t ideal for the amount of guest there.

The front desk was efficient and friendly. However, the room was not super clean. There were hairs in the tub, bed and carpet. The TV didn’t work and even after asking 3 times, no one came to fix it or offer another solution. This was an average 3 star experience and I felt let down with my t being a Hilton property.

The bed was comfortabe, the room was quiet, the TV was large, the lamps had plugs that made charging devices easier. However the carpeting was old,the bathtub drain was rusty, the marble on the night table was stained.

First room I went to had hair in bathtub a bunch of different spots. Came to front desk and second room also had hair on floor of bathroom and bathtub .

Property and room were clean, but felt 'tired'. Staff couldn't be nicer. Area is a shopper's paradise, if you like that sort of thing. Lovely countryside is very close, and the price was a very good value. The cookies are delicious.

My view from the 7th floor was amazing;

We got in very late around 8pm. The tv was not working and i called downstairs tonhave sone one come upntonf9x the tv connection. No one came up. The was a wedding at the site, and the party and thenpeople were incredibly loud till late.

Extremely comfortable rooms and bed. Check in and check out quick and easy. Clean and quiet. Plenty of things to do and places to shop and eat.

Friendly staff, clean room, very good wifi connection, easy commute to S NJ and Philly.

The front desk staff was nice but the Room servicing was poor. Forgot to give toilet paper The shower gel was empty. The toilet clogged. And the WiFi didn’t work so I had to get help from the front desk to connect.

Our stay at Doubletree by Hilton was excellent. The room was spacious, the staff friendly and professional, the bed was comfortable and clean towels every day were appreciated. The restaurant’s breakfast buffet was a little pricey, but varied, convenient and the food was good.

The room was spacious and clean. One lamp was missing a bulb, and the engineer rectified that promptly. This was a quick overnight stay.

Twice someone knocked on my door and yelled “is everything okay” very loud then entered before I had the chance to say anything. One time was at 10pm, woke me up in a panic before getting up for a 5am flight. I was staying 2 nights and after night one they came in while I was at work and threw away all of my leftovers in the fridge.

Check in slow. My room was above the bar and loud. Phone in the room did not work, I called front desk from my cell phone asking for another room, was put on hold 10 minutes. Hung up. Bad service.

Customer service was amazing

Someone opened my room door just before 12 am. I had on the deadbolt so they were not able to enter all the way. I did not request any room service so there was no reason to enter. I let front desk and customer service know but no one was seen. It was very unnerving.

The staff were wonderful; friendly, professional, knowledgable.

Great place to stay. Had a horrible experience due to Orbitz only requesting one room where my reservation was of two rooms, which ensued on a check I process if almost 3 hours long with Orbitz and the front staff being defensive and not really helpful to me.

Very easy check in. Peter at the front desk is kind and efficient. The hotel’s been around for a while, but the updates are modern and comfortable. The rooms are average-sized and the bed is very comfortable.

A pleasant, comfortable, clean hotel. Staff were very pleasant. The hotel is a bit remote from downtown and situated on a busy highway. There isn't much of interest in the immediate vicinity so you'll need to drive a ways to most places you may want to go to. Otherwise, a good spot to stay, and reasonably good value.

Great area to stay due to all the shopping centers around.

Very convenient to PA to visit Longwood or West Chester or downtown Wilmington. 25 minutes from Philadelphia airport. More parking needed on weekends. One entrance in to lot. If you miss it (which is easy to do) you end up at the mall. There is no access from the mall lot.

Great check in and check out process. They had room service available that was delicious.

Dinner is consistently very good

We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. I probably would not have eaten dinner in the restaurant, but the freed drink tipped the scales. The pork chop dinner was excellent. The buffet breakfast was good. Our room (420) was excellent and provided just what we needed. A microwave might have been nice for a longer stay, but we did not need one. We had a late breakfast. At that time it looked like the carpet needed to be vacuumed. The workout room was clean and well equiped.

The room was great!! The staff was awesome!!! The accommodations were very clean and spacious!! The only “complaint” I have is that the bar and restaurant were only open for breakfast early and dinner after 5 o’clock! I feel like you should have an opportunity to go in and visit a bar in a restaurant hotel whatever time of day you happen to come in the door! If I want to have a cocktail at 3 or 4 in the afternoon - it is disappointing that the facilities are not open to guests!!

The stay was good but the free breakfast that's offered on the there site is a lie they charge for it

Your bartender (older gentleman with a slight limp) is extremely RUDE! He did not greet us, did not ask what we wanted to drink and did not even say thank you! My husband and I flew all that way for a funeral so we stopped in just to take a load off and ended up leaving worse than when we walked in. Completely unacceptable

It was ok. Breakfast was not worth it though; too expensive and needs more variety. Also need to put the garbage bag in the bins properly and not expect the guests to do it themselves. Customer service was just ok.

Close to restaurants. Plus we had breakfast in the hotel restaurant the next morning. The buffet was good. Hot and clean. They also had menu option. Close to Winterhur. I would stay here again. We were two ladies traveling alone. I felt safe. I would recommend.
