Quality Inn Downtown Helen

Only problem is that the pool was not open. Kind of sucked as hot as it was

We had a nice stay here however we did not like getting charged $5 a day for parking. The point of staying at a hotel in the downtown area is so you don't have to pay for parking. I could have reserved a room at a cheaper hotel on the other side of town and paid for parking on my own.

First room was not ready... Changed rooms..the front desk staff person was awesome... Very kind gentleman!! The pool area looks like it hasn't been touched in weeks and is in total shambles. Need to finish that because it makes the morel look really bad

Pool was not available, room we had assigned first we could open without a key. Staff was friendly location was good, but wouldn’t recommend unless they do a better job at cleaning and updating their rooms

Ah, the joys of staying at an "historic" hotel! If you enjoy living in a time capsule from the last century, this place is a must-see. The property boasts charmingly dingy carpets that could double as a crime scene, and our bathroom featured a paint job so half-hearted, it might have been done by a toddler with a grudge. The exterior\'s artistic "weathered look" comes courtesy of stains and grime—truly a masterpiece of neglect. As for the pool, don\'t get your hopes up. It\'s out of commission, because who would want to swim in the summer, right? A real head-scratcher there. For the price, I wasn\'t expecting the Ritz Carlton, but I also wasn\'t expecting a time-travel experience to the dark ages of hotel maintenance. Renovation? More like a resurrection is needed here.

The pool was nice with the colored lights and the string lights around the pool and rooms.

Was disappointed when i got there and discovered pool was not in use since that was one of the main reasons i booked there since it was in the 90s

Because it had a pool I booked this hotel. The pool was closed. It did not say that on the the website. I had two very disappointed children.

Location could not have been better. Within walking distance of almost everything. Parking felt safe and convenient. The staff was very pleasant and welcoming.

This property was a completely disaster. First en we arrive to the room the sink was stuck,the water doesn’t go thru,we report this ando nobody come until 3 hours ago .and the maintenance guy didn’t know how yo fix it.The room was extremely dirty.But the worst part was the night .When we where ready to sleep insects star to come out from the sheets and mattress,it was horrible .We travel in a family with to kids and there where full of bedbugs.My husband have his left hand full of bights and like a rashes.We go to the reception and requested a refund at 12 am with two kids we left this hotel .That was the worse night of Christmas Eve .DON’T GO THERE.

The beds were clean at least. The walls and floors were very grungy and sticky. The whole place is outdated. There was a large crack above our door, which made it very loud at night so we woke up multiple times. The cleaners left used towels in the bathroom along with hair ties. Do not recommend this place if you can afford elsewhere.

Unfortunately the property was terribly unattended and our room was kind of dirty but the worst thing that happened was that our beds were filled of bugs, yes like a said those typical bed bugs, i don't know if I'm getting a refund after reporting this to the hotel manager, shame of hotel cause the area around it was incredible

The floor in our room was filthy. Our socks were black .

We had Bed Bugs when we woke up from our overnight stay! It bit my boyfriend but we killed before it got back to its home. And not a few moments after that, there was a spider crawling on my bed! our whole morning was ruined. We stayed in room 108. We also figured why not go to breakfast since we got awoken earlier. They said they were serving warm hot breakfast. all they served was cereal, apples, yogurt, and waffles. We also checked a couple times just in case if they added more breakfast items but they didn’t. The breakfast on the website should be taken down if it’s not the breakfast that’s going to be served. regardless if it’s under new management or not. And if that breakfast is only for certain days it should be listed as well. If we come back to Helen we will never be staying here ever again. Make sure to check your beds before you sleep.

Staff that checked us in were amazing and friendly! However, as soon as you walk into the room, it’s a stale clammy room that smells very strong of mop solution. Then as you walk into the bathroom, the tiles on the roof have mold spots. Once you walk out of the bathroom, you could smell a smell that took our breath away, just trying to cover it up with strong smelling cleaning products. There is no LOCK on our door, broken off. You can see the sunlight coming through the door as well. Now you can step outside the front door to weed and cigarette smoke, people yelling at the people In the pool from the 2nd floor as they do shot guns of beer and throw the empty bottles behind the building. AC was not working, it was hot and moist. We stayed a total of 5 mins and I had to get my baby and my mother out of there. I returned my key, I was asked if I wanted another room or to have them ask the people to leave. I kindly declined as I’m not feeling safe and he just told me that he has to ask those questions. They declined my refund, going to the bank tomorrow to see what I can do since I was scared for my safety and my family’s safety. Expedia also did nothing and did not try to help. I went across the street to a beautiful clean hotel and they told me how this property is filled with the wrong crowd. Be careful booking with Expedia, they do not care about you and your safety. Staff is great but owners should be down right ashamed!!!!

Unfortunately we could not stay here, I had to take my family down the street to a different hotel. The room was damp feeling, mildew smell and stains all over the e bed and couch. I walked in the room and turned around and walked right back out. Couldn’t do it. I do not recommend, I was not eligible for a refund so I paid for two rooms that night. If your staying in Helen, GA just book a room at the Holiday Inn Express.

Was a terrible experience at quality in hotel in helen ga .me and my wife, My wife was talking shower and the slower tub and was clog right after starting sewer smells coming from the toilet we can stand up inside the smell was so strong. So they changed us room for another everything was fine but in the morning my wife woke me up she filled something in her arm and terrible surprise it was our nightmare a bedbug. I wen to check out i talk to the manager and he apologized so please they need to do something .

Shockingly, they simply responded with "okay" and did nothing to address the issue or offer a solution. There was no apology, no offer to change rooms, and no attempt to rectify the situation. This level of service is completely unacceptable. I will never stay here again and wouldn\'t recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room had a musky smell in the bathroom, smell like sewer and had some mold besides that it was fine. It was quiet, excellent location and safe.

Undergoing a makeover on some parts of the hotel but my room was very nice and well appointed.

I enjoyed the size of the room. It was reasonably clean, the location was amazing. My only issue with this room was the bathroom was tiny compared to the size of people it’s supposed to accommodate, and there was no where to store clothing. No racks, hooks, drawers.

The hotel is basic budget hotel. Recently renovated but the workmanship was shoddy...i.e. paint drips on the floor, single coat not hiding the color underneath, peeling walls, etc. The hot breakfast consisted of waffle or oatmeal. Single ply toilet paper and tissue. The bed was comfortable and staff friendly.

We always enjoy our stay here. Clean and quiet. Comfortable beds. Close to everything.

Great space-lots of parking and beds. I like the outdoor pool. One side of curtain was 6 inches shorter than the window, so the light shone through and offered little privacy. The doors and light switches were dirty. Great location. It looks like they are in the process of upgrading which is nice.

While overall our bedroom area was very comfortable and clean, there were many little things about our stay that were annoying when added together. We initially had no soap, towels, or a bath mat, and the main lamp's lightbulb was missing; all quickly fixed. The most disconcerting thing about our room was that the smoke detector had been pulled from the ceiling, wires and all, and stuffed and a dresser drawer. It was not repaired during our entire stay, despite the manager telling us that he'd get maintenance right on it. Also, it was obvious that the bathroom wall had been repaired and repainted in a hurry, as it was already peeling, and there was mildew around the tub's rim. Breakfast was tasty, and the staff very friendly and helpful. However, the tables were never cleaned between guests. We were forced to sit at tables covered in crumbs and food remnants. Also, it became a running joke of ours about what items like coffee, butter, or waffle mix we or other guests would have to ask to be refilled because the staff didn't monitor the status. This could be a great place if the staff took care of all of the little things.

Nice older hotel walkable for town good parking. No cable tv Wi-Fi only unusable for me ( 70 not high tech ), shower curtain rod was almost off the wall breakfast and coffee nothing special and a parking charge I don’t understand at all ? Plenty of hotels in town I don’t think I would stay there again

We very much enjoyed our stay. They have new flooring in the rooms as well as new beds.

The staff was nice to upgrade my room. The new room was large and clean. But, the shower curtain was little bit too short. The water leaked to the floor.

Pros: location was convenient to the main areas of Helen. Main part of our room was nice- new carpet, nice large TV and stand. Three beds and a sofa which gave my family plenty if room for sleeping and the room was large so we could spread out. Cons: bathroom was tiny, shower was tiny (maybe 32” x 32”), large gaps around the door so you could see through them, paint was all over things that shouldn’t be painted (I’d hire a new painter), no place to hang clothes, breakfast was very limited with the only thing hot being waffles or pre-packed oatmeal (by adding hot water). Overall, the stay was ok but definitely not exceptional.

Disappointing from the very start. The lack of service from the staff made everything worse. If they would’ve showed any sincerity or gave an honest apology, it would’ve completely turned things around.

Look, the shower head leaked and the room could use a DEEP clean. The real issue was the day manager, he was WONDERFUL. HIS NAME IS JIM. Professional,knowledgeable, charming.because of Jim we will be back.

I booked a two night stay at this hotel and I was not impressed. There was rust in the bathroom tub, some white stuff all of the chair, curtains, carpet. There was no cover on the outlets. The lights didn’t work, refrigerator had an awful smell. We stayed 1 night and my husband woke up unable to move due to the bed being terrible. We went to the front desk and advised that we would not be staying for another night and asked for a refund. The manager Nikki told us that since we booked it through a 3rd party we had to contact them. We contacted our 3rd party who advised that the hotel had to be reached to notify of the refund request and approve it. They tried multiple times to reach the hotel and every time she would answer and hang up. They even asked us to go to the front desk and let them know about the call. While standing there she answered the call, said that she had to place them on hold and hung up on them. We checked out that morning and the company advised that they would escalate the matter and try to contact them. 5 days later and they contacted me to say that unfortunately they couldn’t be reached and therefore no refund would be granted. Awful customer service, would not recommend this place to anyone. If you’re staying in Helen, stay somewhere else.

The location was great. I could not tell you where or when I have seen a friendlier, kinder or more helpful staff. Hats off to them and a big thank you.

Our stay was great and even the night concierge turned on the waffle maker for us eat since all the restaurants where closed.

Check in was at 3:00. We arrived at 4:00. Got into room at 7:54! Four hour wait. Door frame is missing chain lock. Part of Door frame appears to be a shoddy replacement. Different wood from rest of frame. Will not stop forced entry and is unsafe Shower curtain rod was torn from wall and improperly repaired. Afraid to take a shower since shower curtain is likely to fall down TV can not be used. It cannot be connected to cable. Manager tried to reboot TV with no success. Then Manager suggested we use our private phone to setup local WiFi hotspot and maybe the TV can connect to that. I declined. This is by far the most disappointing experience with a hotel recommendation by Expedia.

Everything was great. It was a smooth and nice to stay. The staff was friendly every time we had a question. Very nice rooms.

We stayed two nights on a vacation trip. Overall a good deal. The premises a bit rundown but the room was excellent, clean. The salt water outdoor pool was small but nice, the breakfast mediocre even for a continental one.

Hotel is walking distance to all the attractions, shops, etc. Staff was friendly. Was a little disappointed in the breakfast…was expecting a little more options. All in all a nice stay.

The staff was so helpful with our large group including my wheelchair-bound child. They made sure we had parking available to get him in and out of the car. The room was plenty big enough for all 6 of us and clean. Location of the hotel was so convenient for all of us to get around Helen without having to use the car at all. Breakfast options at the hotel are the main part of any of my negative review. But Betty’s is next door and has great options.
