Super 8 by Wyndham Clayton

The town was desolate and a true ghost town. So many buildings shuttered up and falling down - left to rot. Not much left. Whoever lives there must not be able to afford to get out of there - sad. The front desk girl was nice enough. The breakfast area was basically in the main lobby - no chairs to sit and eat. Had to bring food back to room. When we got there late afternoon, there was still cereal spilled out under the cereal dispenser from that morning? Floors in the room were sticky so I did not walk around without shoes. Wiped up a water spill on floor and lots of dirt came up with it. The bathroom had hair and dust bunnies in the corners as did the areas behind the night stand. A decent vacuum hose and swiffer mop would go a long way. Beds were comfortable although I wondered if they were as "clean" as the floors were. No sign of bed bugs. Pillows were very soft and comfortable as was the bottom sheet. Top sheet was kind of stiff. The door to the outside was just outside our room and slightly ajar. Not sure it could be closed all the way. Strange thing I noticed - a latch lock was installed on the OUTSIDE of that door. Not good if someone locked it and there was a fire??!! We had a gun so I felt safer than not having one:) Taco place next door was open so that was good there was a place to eat - we had already eaten, so I cannot attest to the food quality. Breakfast was limited, but at least it was something and they had the waffle maker working.

Bagged breakfast of package of oatmeal, nutrigrain bar and 3 powdered or chocolate donuts was okay if you only eat carbs. Rooms were small but comfortable enough. Beds are pretty high and hard for little kids to get on. No elevator, so ask for bottom floor if needed. We like the non-carpeted floors, as they seem so much cleaner than hotel carpets! It was over-priced for what it is, but so few choices. The bw says pool but not open. The other place was super rude when i called. So this was best option, imo.

Liked the check in process and Kelly was great. After that I went down to the desk three times. Once at 11 p.m., no one there. Once each at 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. and no one could be found. No security on exterior doors, they were unlocked the entire stay.

The door to the outside had a string tied from a door handle to a pole on the outside of the door. The bathtub was dripping. It smelled of smoke!!

My room was clean and it was very quiet at night. I slept great. Two things did bother me: 1) the side door right next to my room did not require a room key, so anyone could walk in off the street and be in the hallway 2) there wasn’t a front desk worker the next morning. I walked out and forgot my key and no one was around. I had to call a number and wait for someone to come let me in. I really did have a good stay and slept comfortable and was happy, but those two concerns were a lot.

Toilet lid was broken. Bullet hole in window. No ice in ice maker. This was the absolute worst place I've ever stayed in.

The room was filthy. The floor was unswept in our room and the hall carpet was disgustingly and unvacuumed. There was an old burrito in the microwave and the blankets had cigarette burns and the sheets were stained. It was gross actually.

Staff was very friendly, room was clean, and it was a very peaceful stay

I've stayed at a lot of Super 8's over the years. I've always enjoyed Super 8. But this place is the nastiest dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed at. It was well over a 100 bucks a night. I will never stay at this place again and seriously suggest you don't either. Just pay the extra money and stay at the Best Western or the Quality Inn right down the street. I swear on everything this is the nastiest place I have ever stayed. I got bit by something while I was asleep. It caused a large red bump on my arm. I have been treating it with cortisone and 91% rubbing alcohol. It has been leaking fluid out of it for the last 24 hours. Seriously stay away from the disgusting hotel. I guarantee they don't wash anything. The beds and rooms are disgusting. If you don't believe me ask to see a room. They simply just move a piece of furniture and look behind it. The hotel is disgusting and the health department should step in. This place is absolutely ridiculously filthy.

There was bed bugs they moved me to a difference room. I still cleaned it because it was not too clean. Towels were dirty and stained. The female at the desk was very kind. 2nd room was better and clean .

Very simple and basic hotel but that’s expected with the price. Beds were comfortable and clean. Breakfast is very basic with cereal and waffles but no where to sit. Completely satisfied.

Do not stay here. It’s really gone down hill in the last 10 years. We often travel from Canada to Texas and have stayed here a few times. This place used to be good. I cannot express how dirty this place is. The halls have never been vacuumed, the floors inside the room are not swept, the tub was disgusting, super run down facility. Rust in the bathroom, tap broken, shower is from 1984, smelled horrible. Nothing nice to say. Sleep in your car!

Place is pretty run-down, but not a huge deal. The dealbreaker was literal feces on the walls of bathroom and the tub. Our best guess was that a toddler had a dirty rear end and backed up against the wall and the tub. Only problem there is that we shouldn't have been able to even guess - it was pretty disgusting.

The lower rating is due to the tub not draining well and the bullet hole in the window.

Room was nice and clean but you can hear everything; people in the hallway and in connecting room, also a lot of road noise from outside including the train which goes by several time. Breakfast items are very minimal and you have to bring back to room to eat. Good for one night option.

No hot water. Room not cleaned

Most of the stay was pleasant. However, while I went out to dinner, it rained, and the window was not sealed, so it rained all inside the room. I had kenneled my dog inside the room and she was frightened. The staff gave me another room but did not offer a refund or discount.

This is ok for a quick stay tiny rooms, short sink. Brink earplugs for a good night's rest, it is along a main, heavily traveled U.S. highway.

No hot water not hot breakfast as advertised

It is what you would expect out of any hotel in the middle of nowhere. But using direct tv was truly bad. I had a long drive, wanted to wind down and watch some tv. It froze more than it actually played anything. Truly awful tv service.

The room and building definitely need some overall care and maintenance. Great little Mexican restaurant next door.

Its in need of a facelift! The bathroom is very dated! Remodelling would be worth it!

Rock hard pillows that are too thick.

I called the office around 11 AM asking if a room is available and the person who answered said they won’t have rooms until about 2 PM is the earliest. When we arrived at 2 PM the young lady who got there to check in guests rudely said that she just got there and that the rooms were dirty and check in is at 3pm. There was a small picnic table in the back with trash in one of the planters. The breakfast was dirty for hours until the next day when we got breakfast it was cleaned. The room was clean thankfully but probably wouldn’t stay there again.

It was clean, parking lot is good, plenty of space. Only issue was the female at the front desk couldn’t provide me with a receipt. She told me I had to get in touch with Expedia in order to get it, first time I heard of this. She wasn’t willing to help AND there was 4 of us with the same issue, she admitted this a common issue so maybe have a better solution for future guests.

They took a card for incidentals and charged me for a room TWO more times. They only refunded me once. The desk staff couldn’t remedy the problem and was relying on someone she was texting on WhatsApp. I couldn’t reach anyone else by phone and neither could Expedia. They have a sign posted at the front desk that they are only open from 2 to 4 PM. No coffee at the Continental breakfast.

The staff wqs good. But they can only do so much. Understaffed.

The staff was great and very helpful. They need to vacuum pretty bad. Also, I’ve been trying to contact the property at least three times as we think we forgot something. I cannot reach anyone as no one will answer. I left a voicemail and no response.

The woman who braved the blizzard to come to work that day saved so many of us who were stranded in the parking lot during said horrible blizzard. She quickly checked us in and was so kind and accommodating. It was a very harrowing day and she made all the difference.

The clerk at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming! She helped me right away when my key didn’t work. Only here for the night but it was just what I needed for our long road trip. Clean, easy, affordable and kind staff :)

The breakfast was mid, and staff are only on-site for the afternoon, but the property felt safe. There's a Mexican restaurant directly next door and a subway across the street.

This is an older property in the middle of nowhere. Great staff

Convenient for us passing thru town on way to Colorado. Clean and suitable room for my group of 4, and pet friendly for our 2 dogs.

Fairly comfortable hotel, other choices were more expensive. Clayton is a VERY place so not much to choose from for accommodations or dining. We got in after 9pm and the only food choices were Love's and another truck stop. Love's had a decent little food area with three or four different mini restaurants.

There is not much around the hotel as it is on the way out of town, but the Mexican place across the parking lot serves up good food (more than I could eat). It is a place to get a shower & bed before moving on.

Easy access and quick check in.clean comfortable rooms quiet, only noise was the typical a/c unit like all motels, but not distracting. Asked for a room on sude away from highway and never heard a truck or the trains that pass through town several times a night

The hotel is a budget hotel which was perfect for our long trip. The lady at checkin was nice and offered a bag breakfast for the morning but declined. Only problem was the luke warm water for a shower. Would stay here again. Not much food after 9pm in the area besides gas stations.

This is a very convenient location when traveling from Colorado to Texas

Breakfast was supposed to be included. There was one waffle maker and cereal. No coffee or anything else in the breakfast area. We chose to eat breakfast somewhere else. Very disappointed. No staff anywhere in sight.

The continental breakfast was a brown paper bag that contained an instant oatmeal packet, a Nutrigrain bar and a bowl & spoon. Advertised with room service, so I'm not sure what that was. The bed was comfortable.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My stay at the Super 8 was about what I expected for the price. The room was clean and comfortable, which made it a decent value. The water pressure was good and there was plenty of hot water for showers, which I appreciated. Breakfast was simple—just waffles—but they were tasty and satisfying enough to start the day. Overall, nothing fancy but a solid, budget-friendly stay.

Probably the worst Super 8 I've stay in and I've stayed in dozens. Room was dirty with dog hair everywhere....looks like it was never cleaned beyond changing the sheets. Breakfast was available but there was no area in which to eat it...you had to take it back to your room. In addition, the breakfast was very limited....waffles, 2 cereals, juice, milk, and NOTHING else. Most Super 8's have a lot more to choose from.

No coffee with the meager breakfast. Had to go back to the room to make your own coffee. No one at front desk. Just a sign that the office is manned from 2:00pm to 11:30pm. Do not recommend this place.

Staff at check in was not super friendly. The breakfast was limited as it was waffles and cereal. No place to sit so needed to take it back to your room. But the price for the room was good for what we needed.

Not worth the price, staff did not have enough experience. Breakfast was a joke. Cereal all over the floor, no place to seat down. Had to go back to the room. No one there in the morning to check you out.

Breakfast was included in the hotel charge, but was not available. A brown bag with an energy bar and some other small item is not breakfast! Very disappointing!

Although the operator said something about a "breakfast bag" at check in, there was none. A juice dispenser. No coffee, no nothing else.
