The 4 stars hotel provides with the kettle in the room and 2 tea bags. Then asks for the money to refill tea bags when the first two were used. Coffee not provided. Water bottles provided only on the arrival. Somehow unfriendly way to let us in at the front door (though also depending on the door man). They QR code system with the menu and service by the pool. Though trying to get attention of the bartender using this system can take you for ever. After 3 attempts to call the waiter/bartender via QR code call system we gave up and left the pool area.

Great views from our suite on the top floor. Breakfast underwhelming. Scrambled eggs raw every day. Swimming pool empty and unusable - this was the main Eason we chose this hotel. Difficult parking situation outside for Uber pickup but this is not the fault of the hotel. Means walking a few blocks to get an Uber. Room very comfortable.

We enjoyed the Mercure Santiago Centro hotel. The hotel was very clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. My wife especially enjoyed using the pool all three afternoons during our stay. The hotel staff also helped us with our questions about where to eat and shop and finding the nearby Hop On Hop Off bus stop. We highly recommend the Mercure and would stay here again.

Hotel com péssimas instalações e muito aquém do padrão Mercure. Quarto extremamente sujo e empoeirado, colchões horríveis, afundava ao meio, toalhas péssimas, o telefone estava estragado, reclamamos no dia que chegamos e enviaram uma pessoa para consertar apenas 8 dias depois. O café da manhã, em tese até às 10 horas, tinha todos alimentos retirados pontualmente a esse horário. Portanto se o hóspede chegasse dentro da faixa estipulada, ele não conseguia tomar o café pois tudo era recolhido. Por outro lado, deveria abrir às 6:30, mas várias vezes fomos a esse horário, pois tínhamos passeio agendado às 7 horas e não estava aberto. Sem falar na reposição das coisas do banheiro, quase todos os dias tínhamos que reclamar pois colocavam o número errado de toalhas. O chuveiro é um capítulo à parte, volume de água extremamente baixo e à noite sempre não estava quente. Péssima experiência.

Mooie ruime en schone kamer. Super centraal gelegen. Gebruik van prima zwembad en terras. The property overall is well kept in the reception, hallway and other general areas. The room is spacious and comfortable except the bathroom where work definitely needs to be done. Air conditioning is quiet and efficient. The hotel is located next to the Santa Lucia subway station and a bus stop which makes getting around easy. However, the area outside the hotel is dirty and makes people uncomfortable.

Where do I start? Over the past 40 years I have stayed in numerous hotels, either for work or leisure, and this is the worst example of customer service I have experienced. I booked and prepaid a 4 night stay at the Mercury Centro Santiago in August 2024. After a 13 hour flight from Madrid, we were told that no rooms were available. There were at least 4 other groups of travellers who were given the same information. Initially, there were 2 staff on duty and they were then joined by a Supervisor (Cynthia). Nobody could give us an honest and clear explanation of the situation. One member of staff told us the rooms had been given to other people, then somebody else said it was a “system problem”. It was a scene of complete chaos and extremely poor customer service. After almost a 3 hour wait we ( and the other people affected) were transferred to another hotel (Novotel) for the first night, eventually getting to our room at 01:00, so we had limited sleep that night. We were also told that we would be picked up and returned to the Mercure at 10:00 the following morning. We waited until 10:15 in the hotel lobby and despite several calls to the Mercure (no answer) we made our own transport arrangements with an Uber. I want somebody from the hotel to provide me with a full and detailed explanation of what happened, as well as explain why the hotel does not have a “manual” system in place when the computer system is not working correctly.

Based on previos reviews we were expecting a very comfortable and welcoming stay at this property. The facilities were pretty good but the staff were overall unfriendly or unhelpful. The gentlemen at the front desk were dismissive and unhelpful in minor matters such as sorting out our inclusive breakfast. We would not recommend or stay here again.

The most outstanding part of the hotel was the staff. The front desk staff, particularly Ingebord, were amazing. The staff helped us book two tours on ChileTours and they were excellent. We visited Valparaiso on one tour and the Concha y Toro winery on the other. The only problem we had was that the area is dangerous. Thieves attempted to rob my husband and I just steps from the hotel’s front door. I would recommend that you stay in the hotel, eat there (they have a restaurant and a bar), and leave only when you need to go on a tour or to the airport. Also, I would recommend asking the wonderful people at the front desk to get a taxi to the airport rather than getting an Uber. Uber means waiting outside the hotel for the car and that gives thieves an opportunity. We met our taxi driver in the lobby and were escorted to the secure basement where the taxi was parked. I would not go outside the hotel at all at night. But it feels perfectly safe in the hotel. There was a Santiago police office in the hotel at all times. Other than the security outside the hotel, we really enjoyed our stay at the Mercure. The staff were incredible. A big thank you to Ingebord.

Not the best start to my stay - despite informing the hotel that my arrival would be from about 2pm, when I arrived at 2.15pm I was told that my room wouldn’t be available until exactly 3pm but this would give me time to buy lunch. Definitely not what I needed after almost 24 hours of travelling from the U.K. when all you want is a shower and a change of clothes. Just felt like I was being stalled so I’d buy lunch in the hotel whilst I waited. Whilst I was eventually able to get into my room just after 2.30pm it wasn’t the best start to my stay. Otherwise hotel is ok and right by a metro station. Though a walking tour guide said the area wasn’t that safe for tourists so wasn’t a relaxing stay.

I think for some from the US it could be a bit intimidating having to choose from a lot of local hotels not representing the chain brands where used to. Rest assured that this hotel is at least as good, if not better than in some ways, as any Hilton, Marriott, Windham, or Holiday Inn. Getting here from the airport was more expensive than it could have been. Had we contacted the hotel directly, we likely may have gotten the ride for 25k instead of the 40k our illegitimate "taxi charged us. The front desk was very helpful in arranging this for us when we checked out and headed to our next hotel. In general, hotel staff was very friendly and helpful with advice, almost always in fluent English, anytime we needed it. They provided local recommendations and even warnings about places to avoid when going out, especially at night. One staff member even called out to me as I walked out the door to let me know I'd forgotten my phone was in my back pocket. Further, he recommended places to go to get drinks in the area because those at the hotel were so expensive. Our room was perfectly positioned with a view of the National Library and the adjacent Santa Lucia Hill, both of which we easily reached from the hotel by walking. The room was clean and comfortable and included outlets that fit US style 110 volt plugs. There was a main light switch on the wall near the beds - I like this feature in hotels and it's becoming more common these days. Things were generally clean.

Hotel muito próxima à Estação Santa Lucía (linha vermelha), o que trouxe muita comodidade para nos locomover pela cidade. Localização boa por ser próximo a alguns pontos turísticos, porém o Centro não me pareceu uma localização indicada para famílias, especialmente se estiver com crianças (muita bagunça nos arredores com o comércio informal de rua). Mas andando por três quarteirões vc está em Lastarría, mudando totalmente o cenário. No mais, hotel com boa limpeza, funcionários prestativos, academia ok. Café da manhã sem muita variação no decorrer dos dias.

I had a good experience at the Mercure. I thought the location very convenient - on a busy main road, but I couldn’t hear any road noise from the bedroom. It’s next to a metro station, and very walkable to many of the attractions downtown, so it was great place from which to see Santiago. Breakfast was mostly continental (with eggs and sausages as hot) but plentiful and tasty. The Reception staff were lovely and friendly.
