Carcavelos Beach Hotel

Dated property in disrepair but clean and great location across the road to the best beach in the area and walkable to many dining options and grocery, pharmacy, etc. Great breakfast buffet with spectacular view but restaurant closed the rest of the day. No bar or lounge option on top floor or lobby. No snack bar or bar at pool, shade available around pool. Two of the front doors broken and One elevator down for 1 of the 2 week stay. Property is in serious need of upgrades

This hotel is undergoing upgrade and the completed areas look great. E. G. Breakfast room on 8th floor with great views of the beach. Reception and lobby bar all look good and nice new furniture. Disappointed that the bar wasn’t open so apart from breakfast there was no access to refreshments while sitting at the nice clean and comfortable pool area. Supermarket is a short walk to the riviera hotel centre to stock up on snacks and refreshments. The square behind the hotel has a lovely selection of cafes and the locals are there too. The underpass makes beach access easy as it’s opposite the hotel to the right. Beach is fabulous. Check which room you are allocated as the end rooms do not have a sea view. All had comfortable bed and plenty of storage. Super clean bathroom. We changed after one night and had to pay an extra 10euros per night. Definitely a convenient hotel for Lisbon, airport, Cascais and sintra. Local Ubers were great and train station was a short walk.

The hotel was a short walk from the beach, and has a lot of nearby restaurants to chose from. The room was clean and tidy. The breakfast was good. The swimming pool was great! I had a lovely relaxing time staying here.

Un hotel propre, avec du mobilier un peu vieu, mais géneralement il est bien, avec un petit dejeuner en buffet d'une bonne qualité, une bonne piscine pour les petits comme pour les grands, un personnel trés sympa et tres gentil et ne te prends jamais la tête, un parking gratuit mais petit ( en meme temps on y etait au mois d aout) mais vous pouvez garer votre voiture la nuit dehors et la rentrer au parking le matin car les pnaces se liberent, sans oublier la plage qui est a deux pas de l hotel.

Rigtig god morgenmad. Personalet meget venligt. Parkering var forvirrende, meget lidt plads. Det er ikke givet der er en p plads.

Bra rum med riktigt bra sängar. Lite dåligt städat men ok. Problem med hissarna men det löste personalen med att låta oss använda servicehusen. Bra och hjälpsam personal.

O hotel precisa de cuidados e reforma. Durante toda estadia os elevadores não funcionaram. Algumas vezes tive que subir e descer de escada.

Después del cambio de nombre, esperaba una mejora de las instalaciones, pero siguen tan viejas como antes, o más. El sistema de luces es inoperativo, no permite utilizar los enchufes junto a la cama con la luz encendida... El arreglo de las habitaciones se retrasa mucho y no ha terminado incluso después de la hora de comer, fastidiando el descanso. El desayuno, como siempre, estupendo. Y se aprecia la cercanía a la playa y a su paseo. La piscina sólo dispone de 2 sombrillas y no hay más sombra para las tumbonas.

A Disappointing Stay in a Severely Outdated Hotel I typically try to find the positives in any place I stay, but unfortunately, my experience at this hotel was overwhelmingly negative. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that this building—while historic at 108 years old—has not been maintained properly or updated in what feels like decades. The room had a strong, musty odor that never went away. The carpet was stained and reeked of mildew, and there was visible mold growing on the ceiling—a serious health concern. The air conditioning didn’t work, and with no proper ventilation, the room felt stuffy and uncomfortable at all times. Basic amenities were either broken or missing: the hairdryer was non-functional, the door lock was damaged, making it hard to feel safe, and the elevator was out of order, which meant lugging bags up several flights of stairs. The bathroom was rusty, outdated, and honestly felt unhygienic. The pool was dirty and uninviting, and clearly not maintained. Common areas felt neglected, and the entire building shows its age—badly. Old can be charming, but this place is simply falling apart. It needs a major, major renovation from top to bottom. Sadly, the photos online were misleading, and this was not the relaxing or comfortable stay I had hoped for. I would not recommend this hotel until significant improvements are made.

Beach view was wonderful. Breakfast hadca nice variety and coffee was excellent. Staff was courteous and helpful. Rooms are not fancy but are nice and clean.

Great breakfast selection (sausages, eggs, croissants, veggies, pancakes, fruits) Super close to the beach, pharmacy, grocery stores, mini shops and restaurants. The lobby is the only nice part of the hotel the rooms are deceiving. Mold on the ceiling, AC not working, musty smell in the room and on beds. The bathroom doors are dysfunctional cannot be closed without slamming it. That being said, it would get noisy on the floors due to clients opening and closing the bathroom doors. The overall condition of the hotel is quite archaic and it needs some major renovations to be able to compete with the other hotels in the area (ex. Hotel Riviera). Balcony at the end of the hallway on each floor was a cute and aesthetically pleasing feature. There is a lovely view from the 9th floor so I highly suggest people to go up there and see the ocean/buildings from that angle. Staff was lovely, helpful and informative Pool was clean with sun chairs to lounge and tan. Bonus is that the staff will provide clients w pool towels that you will have to return by the end of your stay. Overall I would not go back to that hotel because of the lack of cleanliness, and would rate it a solid 2.5 because of the amazing breakfast selection, the close proximity to the beach, shops and restaurants, and the lovely staff! 🌟🌟

La bañera estaba oxidada..

A melhor coisa deste hotel é o pequeno almoço que é variado e com uma vista bastante agradável. Está localizado a uma curta caminhada da praia e a piscina também é uma boa opção. O rececionista fez o seu trabalho mas faltou-lhe alguma simpatia. Relativamente ao quarto deixou a desejar pois logo nos primeiros minutos encontramos uma barata gigante e depois disso nunca mais ficamos sossegadas com medo que houvessem mais por ali escondidas. Uma sugestão que ajudaria a melhorar a experiência dos hospedes era possuírem serviço de bar.

Teilweise dreckige Handtücher und auch nach Nachfrage nur eins pro Person. Keine Nicht-Stören-Schilder, nach mehrmaliger Störung wurde uns doch ein Schild gegeben, welches am nächsten Morgen direkt wieder weggenommen wurde und das Zimmer wurde erneut betreten, obwohl es nicht gewünscht war. Die Handtücher wurden mehrmals getauscht und hatten ab und zu kleine Flecken. Flecken auf der Bettwäsche. Die Türen wurden von der Zimmerreinigung nur zugezogen, nicht abgeschlossen. Balkontür wurde regelmäßig nach der Reinigung offen gelassen. Die Lage, die Entfernung zum Strand (ca 5 min) und zum Bahnhof (ca 15 min) war super. Die Umgebung kann ich nur empfehlen.

O cardapio era okay, varias opções mas senti falta de mais variedade de frutas. Meu quarto não funcionava o ar condicionado e não tinha a vista que o quarto dos meus amigos tinham. Pedi para trocar de quarto e eles foram solicitos. As pessoas são bem simpáticas e solicitas. Fica bem próximo a orla e a praia. O quarto possui armario. O banheiro era pequeno mas o chuveiro e cama bons. Tinha uma agua que acredito que era de cortesia.

This is a slightly dated hotel however the location is very good and is only a 5 minute walk to the beach. The entrance and main reception areas have been modernised but we had a room overlooking the rear of the hotel and it was in need of renovation and quite basic - definitely not a 4* hotel.

Slitet hotell med 80-talskänsla. Rummet var slitet och gammalt. Förstår inte att de kan ha 4 stjärnor. Bra läge dock och säkert potential om omfattande renoveringar görs

The staff at the hotel welcomed us warmly and cheerfully, but the old hotel had a musty smell, weak wifi. The air conditioner kept making noise all night and we couldn't sleep so we asked to change rooms and they changed us to another room with better air conditioning.

Mycket trångt rum, det var svårt att röra sig. Extrabädden gnisslade jättemycket. Jag bad receptionen att åtgärda men inget hände.

Staff were helpful and welcoming. We had a wonderful sea view on 7th floor. Everything in room worked (except for light bulb in standard light). Breakfast excellent and again wonderful view. Lots of restaurant around corner from hotel. Would definitely stay at hotel again.

We really enjoyed our stay. (Myself and two children, 14 & 19) We loved being able to walk to the beach or just lie out by the pool. The staff were super sweet and very friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

Our first room 101 was completely awful the ac kept beeping. Very old and outdated and uncomfortable, so we complained and they upgraded and gave us a room with an actually working ac. Much better

I arrived and was unwell. In the evening I asked for a kettle or a way of getting some hot water and was told I could not get any and restaurant was shut. I said I needed a hot drink as I was unwell and the man just said ' go to a pharmacy'. I asked for a blanket as my room was cold and was told there were none. I had to get angry and demand a blanket and was finally given one. It was still quite cold in the room because of wind. they were completely unhelpful.

Hotel muy bien situado, cerca de la playa y de un centro comercial. Desayuno muy bien, camas muy cómodas. Habitaciones amplias y armario grande, con aire acondicionado con split. El cuarto de baño un poco mal, parece sucio el suelo con manchas. Las partes comunes muy agradables.

Veldig fin plass og ha som base. Lett og ta tog inn til Lisboa og tog inn til Cacais. Bassengområdet var veldig fint.

This lovely hotel is just minutes away from the beach and boasts a lovely pool. While the rooms could use an upgrade, a seaview room offers a great view. There’s a service by the pool, but the restaurant is unfortunately closed due to refurbishment. However, there are plenty of other places to eat nearby.

A great location and only 200m from the beach and many good meal options only around the corner. Relaxing foyer and a small bar that was very quiet while we were there. The nearby beach is fabulous and again many meal options, wonderful to walk along and view the offers. Big pool but noone using it whlw we were there.

The hotel is outdated. The breakfast options are very limited. It is very close to the beach and a supermarket which is a plus.

The breakfast is great. Nice to start the day. View of the ocean and partial sunset is great. Would stay there again. Staff was very helpful and spoke English .

What we liked best -- bathtub -- powerful shower faucet (which I miss already) and soaker tub - used both daily. Also liked balcony view of beach. Great breakfast - eggs, breads/pastries, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, cheese, crepes, toppings of chia and seeds, etc. Helpful staff, especially front desk. 5 minutes walk to beach, restaurants, grocery shops, bank, pharmacy, etc. What I didn't like -- need to lobby vacuum carpet more frequently, doors jammed (bathroom and balcony) so we just left ajar all the time, tell smokers to stand far away from doors on the outside Overall, happy and safe experience.

De forma geral correu bem. Achei o pequeno almoço muito básico, nao gostei da fruta ser de conserva (lata) ao invés de natural Nao gostei de chegar ao pq.almoco meia hora antes de a sala fechar e o empregado olhar pro relogio. Nao gostei do atendimento na recepcao de um rapaz que estava com a cabeça enfiada no balcao e sempre a olhar para o chao em vez de olhar p nós enquanto falava connosco Nao gostei de perguntar se tinha estacionamento do hotel e nem sequer me explicarem que tinha trajecto pelo hotel e que nao precisava de ir pela estrada com as malas. Tambem nao gostei de ter pago a ecotaxa no check in e nao ficar registado e me voltarem a pedir no check out. Os quartos embora antigos eram razoaveis mas deviam de ter frigorifico. A vista da varanda era magnifica e da dala do pq.almoço tambem. Hotel muito bem situado junto à praia, pingo doce, restaurantes, estacionamentos (pagam-se todos os dias) e o do hotel nem sempre tem lugares.
