Lovely hotel & staff. Room service food was delicious. Fun extras for the children. Only downside was while in the pool we were told to get out, due to both lanes being booked by individuals. The day before, one lane was for bookings, the other for everyone to use. Nice facilities but don’t expect the pool to be available.

Hotel Realm was mostly nice. The staff were friendly, everything was easy to get to... From gym, pool, sauna and spa. To the roof top bar of Leyla which had solid cocktails. All restaurants were roughly a 5-10 min drive. I thinks a few small things would make Hotel Realm the perfect 5 star: 1. Ensuring to have a blackout blind in the bedroom, as the main reception lobby lights beamed through the entire night which made for a sleepless night. 2. Allow visitors to turn the room temperature below 19.9 degrees, as even though I put temperature to 19.9 the thermometer showed that the room was still 24.6 degrees. 3. Either have a plug in the bathroom so people can use hair dryer provided or have a mirror so people can use hair dryer in the lounge area. 4. Have "Way Out" signs in the carpark, it's not difficult to get out of. I just saw a basic needs for it. 5. A better selection of condiments, it would have been great if I could put Hollandaise on my poached egg. The only condiments the had were tomato sauce, BBQ sauce and Tabasco. It would have been perfect at the buffet breakfast to have other options. 6. Price list for room snacks 7. And have access to Netflix and Disney, as the hotel TV and movies were subpar. Most definitely a 4 and a half star hotel though.

We stayed at a 1-bedroom room. The reason we booked this hotel as opposed to others was because of undercover EV charging facilities. There are two Tesla chargers and one of them was out of commission. The other one was hogged by a car for more than 8hrs. The restaurant options are quite limited as there are two, not four, restaurants on site. One of them was closed for renovations. There is no ‘pool’ in fact there is a pool in the health club that: - Closes at 5:30pm on Saturday; and - Requires a booking to be made. Went at 7 on Sat, the lady on the reception saw us going there but couldn’t be bothered to say the pool is closed. When we asked her she said it’s closed. Next day went at 10 in the morning and was told you need a booking. Would’ve been nice if the lady told us about it the day before. No one mentioned it at the check-in. Checked in around 11pm (hotel claims 24/7 check in) but the Parking doors were closed. Called up and no one picked up the phone for 10 minutes so had to walk up only to be told no calls came through. Overall, not value for money. I’d spend the same somewhere else.

We had an okay stay at the Realm - the room was clean, the look was modern and our room seemed fresh, neat and appealing. The hotel has great restaurants and bars surrounding and in it (Just make sure you book!) and is in a great location. It’s only a short walk to the Kingston waterfront. Two things that were a big turn-off for us though, included the so-called pool (it was closed at 5pm on a hot-as-hell Saturday) and the smell in the foyer area. Now, the fragrance itself is very pleasant but it is so strong it is overpowering. I noticed the same issue when I previously stayed at the Little National across the road, and we could smell the same smell as we walked by the Burbury. Clearly it’s a Domo hotels signature scent but it just needs to be dialled down a little. Or maybe a lot. And re the pool, it’s clearly an issue, as when we read reviews (after our stay) other people had complained too. The copy on the website and in the foyer ads invites you to relax and unwind in the pool after a long day. It says nothing about it being part of the gym, or that a surly gym worker will get p’d off when you try and enter after hours (not that we knew it was), or that you actually had to book to use it. No one at reception tells you about it until you go to complain. And it’s fair to say that none of this is conducive to being fun, relaxing or enjoyable. So that gets a gigantic thumbs down from us.

Our room was leaking from the roof, and mouldy. The leaking water was dripping straight into the jug in the kitchenette. Toilet was also leaking. Window didn’t open, so we were stuck with 1 night smelling mouldy water. Also the hallways smelt of mould, we heard numberois guests complaining about the smell in the elevator. Couldn’t stay any longer, checked out of our 6 night stay after 1 night.

Really disappointed that the bad reviews were all true. The room was large which was great; but not overly clean - spiderwebs, Bobby pins from past guests in carpet, marks and scuffs on all walls and all the furniture was dinted and in need of some basic maintenance. Bathroom flooded after every shower as the door didn’t close properly. Housekeeping seem disorganised - I never saw a hallway without a pile of dirty linens waiting to be removed in the entire two days, when our room was made up we were left with no towels at all and our rollaway bed took a good 3 hours and multiple calls to appear. We also had a staff member enter our room without knocking - he clearly thought the room was empty as quickly shut the door and then knocked but we were pretty shocked that knocking isn’t basic protocol for staff when entering a room. I think the biggest issue is realm position themselves as a five star hotel, which therefore leads to some expectations that they just do not deliver on. Never found the QR code for the mini bar or room service so can’t comment on those. I did give feedback to reception on checking out and I cannot fault the staff members response he wrote it down, promised follow up and comped our parking and I felt like he acknowledged our issues very well. The public areas of the hotel are lovely, but the rooms need a good deep clean and repair, and unless the service and offering can be lifted the hotel should only be positioning themselves as a 3.5 star hotel.

Customer service was non existent. There was poo on the toilet upon arrival so we had to clean it. I was also woken at night with the sound of someone throwing up constantly it was awful. There was also a glitch and we couldn’t order room service easily. Housekeeping didn’t refresh our room until I called at 4pm and they did it (I’d put the make up my room light on). Pool was small and crowded and as the room service staff were so understaffed I doubted their ability to clean the pool if they are too overwhelmed to clean the rooms. I was promised some butter that would be sent to my room but it never arrived then I called again they told me they’d follow it up, never arrived and they never answered the phone again and I certainly tried many times and at different hours of the day. Just so very disappointed that we couldn’t even spend the second night we’d paid for. We just left as we couldn’t get out of there quickly enough. It’s gone downhill since it first opened years ago. We won’t be back.

The promotional photography on the website and marketing saying this is the premier 5 star hotel in canberra sets a very high expectation expecting a W hotel/ shangrila or intercontinental but not up to that standard My room had no shower gel, air vents are full of dust, and no tv remote. Air con is old, cannot set temp lower than 22. Reception / service from bibi and kuldi were warm and efficient resolved most issues. Renovated 7-8 yrs ago based on an old hostel Breakfast is in their main high end restaurant. Excellent decor and selection Gym is nice but open only until 8pm Would stay again but would not pay premium prices.

If this hotel was marketed as a 4 star, I would have been a bit more legient but as a 5 star property, I felt it lacked in a few areas. The bathroom in particular felt grimy and there was visible dust in this space. We had requested twin beds but received a king. The food at the restaurant was basic pub fare at higher prices. Bed was incredibly comfortable though!

The hotel was very clean. Bed was comfortable. Food was great but definitely on the more expensive side. The only thing I will say is as we were staying 2 nights we did ask the housekeeping person outside our room when we were leaving for the day to make up our room. She replaced towels, however our sheets had coffee on them. The bed didn't get fresh sheets. She also never replaced tissues or a toilet roll. Should we travel to Canberra again I would still stay here.
The hotel was very clean. Bed was comfortable. Food was great but definitely on the more expensive side. The only thing I will say is as we were staying 2 nights we did ask the housekeeping person outside our room when we were leaving for the day to make up our room. Should we travel to Canberra again I would still stay here.

Good value but need to update rooms. No USB capabilty in this day and age. Room phone didnt work. Room ipad not very intutive. No tea making facilities in room. Unable to turn hesting/aircon which was on 23.5 down.

Hotel Realm was mostly nice. The staff were friendly, everything was easy to get to... From gym, pool, sauna and spa. To the roof top bar of Leyla which had solid cocktails. All restaurants were roughly a 5-10 min drive. I thinks a few small things would make Hotel Realm the perfect 5 star: 1. Ensuring to have a blackout blind in the bedroom, as the main reception lobby lights beamed through the entire night which made for a sleepless night. 2. Allow visitors to turn the room temperature below 19.9 degrees, as even though I put temperature to 19.9 the thermometer showed that the room was still 24.6 degrees. 3. Either have a plug in the bathroom so people can use hair dryer provided or have a mirror so people can use hair dryer in the lounge area. 4. Wow. What a beautiful place. I booked a room with King bed and was on Level 3, and while my balcony overlooked a construction site, I could still catch a glimpse of the back of Parliament House. My whole stay was easy and magnificent. Free (secure) parking, easy walking distance to the lake, old (and new) Kingston and Manuka and close to eateries. My room had a bathtub (luxe!) and ample space for just me. There was a full-sized fridge which was super handy for leftover storage, and a coffeepod machine. The whole room was super well appointed and I can't wait to come back to stay. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Everything about Hotel Realm was exceptional! The reception staff were friendly, welcoming, courteous, professional, and extremely helpful. The room was spacious, modern, clean and comfortable. Bathroom was very user friendly with excellent water pressure in the shower! The best equipped gym of any hotel i have ever stayed in with the bonus of a 25m lap pool, spa, sauna and steam room facilities attached. We had dinner at Ostani restaraunt/bar, which had a great atmosphere and fantastic staff. Good variety on the menu, well priced, and DELICIOUS!! (Moroccon Lamb backstrap was outstanding!!!!!!!) Breakfast from Maple & Clove was also super tasty, with a good selection of fresh juices and smooties to complement the meals. (Great coffee too)

Check in was easy, even though we were likely given some erroneous information on timings of complimentary cocktail and canapés. We were, however, accommodated with a drink and nibbles at the bar. The hotel restaurant did not have any available reservations for this hotel guest. The blanket on the bed had excrement stains (picture available) and smelled like someone had slept in the bed previously, but the sheets werent changed. The hotel itself is very beautiful and the facilities are genuinely excellent. Unfortunately, the internal communication between staff significantly let down what could have been a great stay. Prior to arrival, I booked and then called to request a cot and a late checkout due to travelling with a baby. I was told both were noted, with a confirmed checkout time of 12pm. When we arrived at the room, there was no cot provided. Between 11am and 12pm, three separate staff members knocked on our door asking if we were checking out. Each time I explained that we had a baby and had arranged a late checkout. The lack of communication between staff was obvious and disruptive. Due to the repeated interruptions, our baby was woken up, and we ultimately decided to leave earlier than planned. Additionally, we used a few minibar items that later appeared as additional charges, however this was not clearly explained to us at any point. We also requested an emailed receipt for these charges, which we never received. While the hotel itself is lovely, the experience overall was frustrating and disappointing. For these reasons, I would be hesitant to stay here again, particularly when travelling with a young family.

The Realm is a good hotel over on the Parliament side of Canberra, close to the Foreign Affairs offices. They have larger rooms and suites that make it great for longer stays. There are also good restaurants, bars and cafes nearby. Not a lot of them but good quality in the small neighbourhood.

Faded glory I think. For what we paid I was disappointed with the condition of the room, the bathroom mirror was dirty and the shower hinge was broken. Of significant issue, the QR code with all of the room information was missing and the staff had no system in place to resolve the issue outside of the IT department’s office hours, so we had no access to room service, could not see the mini bar prices etc. By way of compensation the duty manager gave us the bottled water that we had used from the mini bar free of charge, and offered two coffee vouchers which we had no way to use. I did not feel terribly happy about this offer. The onsite restaurants were booked out for functions so we ended up having to eat off site. The dining options were one reason why we chose this venue. I think had I not paid for 5 star, I might not have been so disappointed, but for the price I would not choose this hotel again.
