We had an extremely pleasant stay at this property. Convenient to all locations. It was a 10-15 minute walk to Central Park, Bryant Park, Times Square and GCS. Five minutes to 5th Ave and Rockefeller. Upon our arrival, we pre-checked in because we were early and stowed our bags which was no cost day of arrival. We didn’t need access to our room and left for the day. On departure day we also stowed our bags for 5$/bag. Every employee we interacted with was pleasant and helpful. We were upgraded for free to a corner room with a view of 6th and fridge without request. It was also quiet. Of note, some rooms do not have refrigerators. Excellent stay and I was compelled to write a review after reading some of the negative reviews I read immediately after booking which made me nervous.

The Hilton is doing major elevator repairs and maintenance. So you have to wait awhile for an elevator. The new upgrade has you select your floor and room number and then tells you which elevator to wait for. Check to make sure your floor is showing up on the panel because once inside the elevator there are no buttons to push.

They were doing some sort of service on the elevators, so there were 1-2 available for our floors (usually 3). I think even if that were not the case the wait for elevators would be very long. The beds were not comfortable. We stayed in a presidential suite, and my 14yo daughter slept on a pull out sofa. That mattress was the worst ever. No coffee/tea maker in the room, no usb plugs for charging. It felt like a dated 2-3 star hotel.

Rooms had no air conditioning. We stayed three nights and never got a good night’s rest it was so hot. They sent an $10 box fan that was so loud we just laughed. It was impossible to keep the fan on and sleep at the same time. Elevators were undergoing maintenance so wait times for elevators were high. Lobby restaurant kitchen closed abnormally early so don’t count on a late night NYC snack at the hotel bar you’re staying at.

I been staying at this hotel since the 90s because my parents used to stay here. There are a couple of charges that they did not have before. There is a fee for checking earlier, there is a fee for leaving luggage individually, and there is a charge to be used at the hotel that if you don't use it you lose it. I have traveled to other areas and I never experience such extra charges.

This is the mass market hotel option. It’s like a subway station in the lobby tons of people and long lines. Check in wait as 30 minutes. Elevators wait was 10-15 min. Staff is clearly tired. It is fine for a bed and great location. Impersonal efficient lobby.

The Lobby was very nice, then you get to the elevator which their working on a new system which wasn't at full capacity. The wait time for an elevator was about five minutes sometimes depending on the time of day you were going up. There was one morning we had to wait 10 to 15 minutes for an elevator to go down. Five times the elevator came it was packed so we finally decided to go up six floors and then come back down and sure enough we would have not made that elevator if we would have waited. I was in Florida early this summer at a Hilton hotel I believe they have the same system and we had no issues there so I hope its just because its new to that hotel In New York. The rooms are very outdated I don't think I'd stay there again. In the washroom the toilet was loose from the floor so they did send a plumber to come and tighten the bolts.The tub had stains around it the light switch in washroom was also dirty. I took a washcloth to it just to make sure it wasn't some kind of grayish color paint. A little dirt came off onto rag but I think that it needs to be scrubbed. The floor in the room was a little uneven in some spots. Lighting was bad. The one side table light would go out every time something was put down near it or if you opened or close the drawer. I saved the best for last. The best part of room which I guess matters most is I did get quality sleep from the comfort of their beds but their pillows were a little on the thin side. The Refrigerator worked very well.

Luxury brand, luxury price, but it left so much to be desired. Not only was the hotel outdated and worn, but it was also filthy! I tried to ignore the salt packet on the floor under the desk that a previous guest had left, but it got worse by the second! Trash was even underneath the telephone! I didn't even want to imagine the filth I couldn't see. I couldn't wait to get out of there. Hilton sure has changed! (The bellmen were great!)

We stayed in an Urban King room. The leather headboard was all scratched up, and there was black mold in the shower. I have stayed at this hotel in the past and had wonderful experiences, but this room fell short.

This hotel is in an absolutely fabulous location. It seemed like it was about a 5-10 minute to virtually everywhere we wanted to go. I am very picky regarding cleanliness and I was extremely pleased with the condition of the room and, most importantly, the bathroom. The bathroom was small, but very functional and a good use of space. We got in late so didn’t check in until about 11:00 at night. There was a little bit of a wait at the desk for that, but nothing to complain about in my opinion. The only real complaint I have is that the rooms don’t have coffeemakers. I didn’t check for this when booking because I can’t remember the last time I stayed in a hotel that didn’t have one. They should really add these. Especially in a city where you have to get out of the hotel and walk somewhere to find a good cup. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay here!

The location of this hotel is great. The staff were courteous and efficient, however the condition of the room was so-so. The shower grout and caulk was moldy, the drain was slow, and there was no bath mat. The headboard was dirty and scratched.

This was the worst hotel I have been in for a while. The carpet was very dirty, so much so my socks changed colors. The chair arms were ripped and black. The bed was beyond worn out and caused extreme back pain. We were left a note that the hot water would be off. No alternative, no compensation. The mold was dangerous. Not to mention that Im allergic to it. No refrigerator. İ usually just put up with things and not complain but this was really bad. The maid/cleaning staff was very nice and helpful whenever they could be under the circumstances. Our plan was 8hrs late and I tried several times to contact the hotel that has 24/7 desk staff. Not once did I get a person. I had to go through Expedia several times to “leave messages “. When I finally arrived at hotel at 2am I told them this and they didnt care and charged me $670 for incidentals to be refunded if room ok at end. Not disclosed when booking. Which I dont mind if prior disclosure. I still havent been sent a detailed receipt as promised.

Pros: Hotel was centrally located. Cabs were readily available. Lots of people coming/going. Elevators were quick. Cons: heater in room didn't work, pillows are too soft, windows need to be double or tripple pane (noisy on 20th floor) and hallway walls were falling drywall dust in several places.

The room we stayed in was severely outdated. Dirty old carpet and the headboards on the beds were made of fake leather. The headboards are so old that they were peeling and cracking. We would wake up in the morning and flakes of fake leather was in our hair and bed. The tub was old and stained. I’ve stayed in the updated rooms and they are so much better. Be sure to ask for an updated room.

NO FRIDGE and NO COFFEE MACHINE! Called HOTELS.COM customer service, which by the way they did everything they could, and they called the hotel and also checked the hotel site and they told me the Hilton site never guarantees the fridge and coffee machine will be in every room. Why would I call and ask to make sure the room will have something even the cheapest hotels offer, when the photos on HOTELS.COM showed the room had a fridge and a coffee machine? We were not completely sure if they had removed them from the room before we got there. The place where the fridge goes was empty, same as the shelf where the coffee machine usually goes We were almost sure that since we got the booking with HOTELS.COM and not a directly with Hilton, they just remove the fridge and the coffee machine from the room. Well, sadly, we confirmed that the day we checked out when we saw the fridge at the door and ready to be place back in the room. Not only that, but also, if you do the booking directly with Hilton you don't pay extra for checking in earlier. We were at the line and most of people checked in with us at no charge (Around 1PM) when the check in should have been at 3PM but they did ask us a payment as a charge for early check in. That disgusting difference they make between their clients and HOTELS.COM clients won't make us stop using HOTELS.COM to book a hotel. It will just make us never choose a Hilton again!

Like: location especially if there is a conference there Dislike: Elevators take forever. No A/C during winter and early spring months even on warm spring days. It is an old building and so it is one or the other. Only solution offered was to open a window a crack (limited how much you can open one). Not the best city for leaving it open at night given the NYC noise.

This property has a tendency to switch guests out of the rooms they originally booked. More than once, we’ve reserved and prepaid for a specific room, only to arrive in the evening and be told that the only rooms available are different from what we selected. It’s disappointing to plan ahead and pay in advance, only to find at check-in that the hotel cannot honor the reservation.

We arrived at check in time and there were a hundred people in line to check in. We left and came back at 10 pm and there were 20 people in line to check in. It took over an hour of waiting in line to check in. They did not have the room I booked ready so we had to use a pull out bed. Not comfortable. The bellhop brought our bags up and said he would ring to have water brought to our room because there weren’t even any cups to drink from. The water never arrived. The toilet handle is almost broken off. It’s really bad.

Was given a room that was not even cleaned up. The bed was slept in and bathroom was dirty. So I call the front desk to rectify the situation and they told me they will call me back. That never happened! I now go down to the front desk and get a different room. Go all the way back upstairs to find out the keys won’t let me into the room. There was also so much garbage on the floor in the hallway. Just not a great experience all around . Not for the price I paid for the room

Location was perfect to walk to all the sights. However, check in was deplorable. Waiting for nearly an hour, 10 minutes spent on each guest, computer issues. More staff at the.Concierge then at check in despite no line there. Room didn’t have enough towels for two people which is annoying given booking.

I booked the room for sleeping 4, there was only one bed in the room and no sofa bed. I complained at front desk, they said someone will come and assist, but despite calling several times nobody came, I requested extra blanket but they didn’t provide. The staff was rude. We waited till 3 am but nobody showed up. In morning at 8 am a housekeeping staffed knocked the door and ask if I’m early checking out.. it’s an horrible experience overall.

The Hilton Midtown is an old classic hotel that has held up nicely due to the care of their people. Perfectly located half way between Central Park and Times Square, near Theater District and many amazing restaurant choices, including their own. Breakfast at hotel was awesome with maybe the best omelet I’ve ever had and amazing service from dining room staff. Also dog friendly which makes it a perfect choice for me in NYC.

The elevators were being refurbished so only 2 out of 3 worked for our elevator bay. One also did not have lights one day which made for an interesting ride. The tables in the Lobby Bar were all banged up, the fabric on the booth seats was dirty and worn. My drink was very underwhelming. Donut from cafe was overcooked and the bagel was mediocre. The staff was okay they will want you to pay $100 for early check in. Also the luggage storage is $5 per piece.

Everything well kept. Resort fees toward food, drink, and laundry are mandatory. If I wanted your $12 bag of pop corn, I would buy it own my own. But you take the money and make your guest use your services. Total lack of belief and offerings of your own food and beverage that you have to force participation. Don’t get me started on laundry….$13 for a shirt? Really?

Fantastic stay with smooth check-in. Elevator system was great, and we even received a $35 credit per day for food. Rooms were spacious and clean as well . Outstanding experience all around.

I did not like having to wait 35 minutes to check my luggage in, and then having to pay for it. I also did not like how expensive the convenience store was -- I paid over $20 for a prepackaged sandwich. Otherwise, it was solid.
