Hotel is tired and in need of big investment. The downstairs bar and reception area is good and has been renovated. Restaurant room is only open Fri/Sat/Sun so other days any food is only served in bar area. Breakfast is served in restaurant and is good. The first floor hallway was being painted so dust sheets etc around. Our room Number 12 was a Superior class which had recently been redecorated and re upholstered. New curtains and large lamps. Nice layout with double aspect, large sleigh style bed, an ottoman, two seat sofa and large arm chair, also desk and chair. Kettle etc provided but no biscuits or hot chocolate. Sachets of milk and minimum amount of beverages. Bathroom was large with P shaped bath and shower, newly tiled walls. Basic hand and shower products. The plumbing was difficult! toilet flush difficult to press buttons in and flush not strong. Warnings on taps saying water may be hot. That actually means sometimes it will be hot, other times lukewarm or cold. Water temperature flowed in waves with separate delivery of cold warm and yes, hot but didn’t mix properly. The shower was better at mixing. We used the bath but only got low temp warm water. Next morning housekeeping did not clean it. Shower head needed descaling too. Chrome in bathroom had not been replaced and now didn’t shine or was rusting. All windows were old wooden sash style which were draughty and let in noise from road outside. Music from bar could be heard until about 11 pm

Parking was onsite and free. Staff were friendly and pleasant. Location was ideal on the seafront and access to the town was easy.
