Hotel is great, staff are always super friendly! Food is always good and there is a lovely Italian linked to the hotel. Stay here regularly for work, would highly recommend.

Great hotel, friendly staff and the deluxe room I stayed in was very comfortable with a great shower. Two restaurants to choose from, I went with the British and had a perfectly cooked steak in a lovely environment, breakfast was also good. The bar attached to the hotel is also a nice cosy place to spend time in. Highly recommended!

Staying at the Royal toby hotel in Rochdale is smashing. I really love it here. Its warm and cosy and everything you need is either on site or very nearby. The 2 onsite restaurants are excellent as is room service and i enjoy eating here in the evening. The staff cant do enough to help and are so pleasant, i cant praise them highly enough. I have been coming to Rochdale regularly this year and have enjoyed every one of my stays at the Royal Toby.

The room was clean and quiet. Comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Breakfast was good and the staff were all friendly and helpful.

The hotel is lovely in the communal areas and the rooms are nice too but unfortunately the room was dark and dingey. The window is very small and in the top corner of a wall so the little light that gets through doesnt fill the room. To make this worse the electric lighting in the room is insufficient, there is no main light, instead there are targeted wall lights that only light the wall/item they target. It was very difficult to apply my make up due to the inadequate lighting. The bathroom was too humid to do make up/hair. The extractor in the bathroom switches on with the light and produces eccessive noise so when getting up for the toilet during the night ig had to be in darkness so not to wake my partner. The bathroom was found with a disgusting amount of hair in the bath drain and what looked like beard shavings on the sink and the bath. The mirror/TV and other furniture was excessively dusty also. The bed/ mattress was overworn, I found myself in the middle of the bed ravine during the night. I paid £90 room only for 1 night and for that I don't expect the Ritz but i absolutely expect adequate lighting and cleanliness. I was dissapointed because the hotel rooms look lovely online. Additionally, we went in to the bar for a drink, i ordered a pint of draft lager and a spirit with cranberry mixer which was out of a carton and definitely on the turn. The price was £12.70 which I think is expensive. The staff could be nicer. I would not stay at this hotel again.

The rooms were clean warm and i liked the fact that the shower was strong and the water got into a hot temperature quicker unlike other small hotels ive stayed in,the breakfast choice was good with several options not just english breakfast, i would definitely stay in this hotel again.

It seems like they are half way through a modernisation. Room was warm in the winter, and some parts were new. But working the shower was hard, and the carpets are in an absolute state, dusty all along the edges. Not what it used to be.

Everything was great except it was a warm day and the room and corridors were like a sauna, for the price I expected air conditioning.

They need to upgrade their internet

Good check in to room 304, though soon discovered the air on was not working (very hot room). Tried to call reception from the room phone and that was not working either! Walked to reception to report fault and said there was an issue with air on and I was given a fan and had to open the velux full tilt. Later realised the room did not lock and did not need a key to enter as could push open from the outside and lock did not turn inside. Walked back to reception who immediately found me another room, though a downgrade with no offer of any form of small compensation. Awoken in the night by loud sounds which I think was a shower in another room, but who knows!

there were no AC or fan. there was no proper ventilation. it was like a steam room and toilet was equally hot. it was a terrible two nights. We mostly had to stay in the car.

Water pressure in bathroom was shocking. Took well over an hour to fill bath. Tv slow to use. Difficult to load room service menus

Very comfortable. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming. Room was very clean and quiet and had a massive bed. Only gripes were that the iron was broken and leaked water over my clothes, and the TV remote didn’t work…but if nobody had reported that before, they can’t be fixed! Excellent breakfast with an omelette cooked to order. Would stay again.

Breakfast is good. Nice and friendly staff. Unfortunately there is/was an issue with the plumbing. Whenever the adjacent room flushed the loo the most unpleasant sound (akin to someone playing a trumpet badly or someone drilling). Advised reception but as it was a Sunday morning it’s probably not surprising it wasn’t repaired). However, the problem meant a very disturbed couple of nights sleep.

This was my second time at the hotel. The staff are friendly and the rooms are excellent. If I was to make one complaint, it would be that doors into the rooms are very heavy and are extremely loud when the close. I was woken twice by neighbouring rooms returning. Breakfast is excellent and good service.

Fantastic stay. Alwasy is. We use this hotel when we visit family that way. Kerry in reception is such a warm, helpful and friendly lady. Looking forward to returning in Dec.

Very good hotel and stay generally however reception is not the best

The hospitality from all the staff is first class. They are friendly and want to help. Nothing is too much trouble. A very enjoyable stay 😊

All the staff at this hotel were brilliant, friendly and always helpful. It made the stay a pleasure. Everyone on the team at a hotel is a salesperson to make it an easy decision to return.

We held our wedding reception here, they could not have made things run any better. Very organised and smooth service during the meal. Nothing we asked for was any trouble to the staff they just got on with it. I would recommend this venue , it was brilliant. Thank you to all at the Royal Toby

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights over my daughters wedding what an amazing stay we had the staff couldn’t do enough for us and my granddaughter, who decided she was hingrey at 6.30 in the morning the guy on reception brought out a box of biscuits for her to help herself they just couldn’t do enough amazing

Checked into this hotel on 25th November around 9:00 PM. Having eaten on our way to Rochdale, we went straight to the room, which turned out to have a delightful view of... the hotel’s stinking bins. At checkout the next morning, we were asked to pay £18 for breakfast, which was supposedly included in the room rate. Despite pointing this out, the reception staff insisted on the payment. Pressed for time due to a business meeting, we reluctantly paid, though in hindsight, not receiving a receipt was a mistake. Imagine our shock when we later discovered a £48 charge on the credit card. After numerous frustrating phone calls, during which the person handling the case was apparently never available, we were told the charge was for a dinner we never had. The restaurant had closed before we even arrived! It took weeks of chasing and multiple threats to involve the bank before the hotel admitted they had charged us for someone else’s dinner. The incompetence and dishonesty of this establishment are staggering. How could this error happen in the first place, especially when we were made to pay for breakfast separately? This is either sheer negligence or outright scamming. This experience was compounded by the room’s unpleasant outlook and the general lack of professionalism from staff. Save yourself the stress and avoid this hotel entirely. An absolute disgrace. For well over £100 a night, I would rather sleep in my car.

Fantastic hotel and not too expensive. Visited family. In my opinion this is the best hotel in the area. 2 very good restaurants to choose from. Cozy pub at the hotel. All staff extremely helpful and friendly. Bus stops right outside hotel going directly to Manchester city centre. Rooms spotless and cleaned every day. Complimentary water every day. Couldn't ask for more. Will definitely choose this hotel next visit.

I loved the bar lounge and restaurant....construction all day and night on the main road entering the hotel for the entire 12 days I was there. Rooms on first floor are awful. They either fave the garbage bins, the truck loading area, or the main road which includes neighbors. Lovely each morning to watch the home owners in their pjs sitting on the garden 😑

Visited on Sunday mothers day with twelve of the family all of whom really enjoyed the experience. The three course menue gave you plenty of options too choose from. I had the beef roast it was excellent all of our party really enjoyed their meals. The staff deserve a special mention they were brilliant very efficient, helpful and friendly. To round off the day we decided to book a room and a good nights sleep was had, comfortable and clean room. We have stayed and dined here on a number of occasions and enjoyed every visit. Will undoubtedly visit again soon.

Stay was pleasant , food was bland . I had the ‘steak burger’ and it was mushy , wet and processed and no flavour. Full English was decent Kofte starter was dry and burnt Staff were great and it’s a nice building and clean Room was nice , bathroom needed a refresh but clean

We found the room Comfortable, however we chose this hotel for the advertised dining experience. Our experience was extremely disappointing. We went to the attached Italian restaurant where we found the staff to be more interested in having a good time themselves rather than focusing on their customers. Ordered rare rump of lamb, only to get three small backheated dry peices of meat served with one potato and a slice of prosciutto which was like cardboard. All on a bed of peas and some type of gravy, not jus. Staff said that's what it was meant to be like! My wifes pizza was wrong also. We left immediately after this very disappointing experience. The management didn't appear to even care. Very poor.

The hotel was warm, clean and extremely efficiently run. The breakfast was well cooked and very well presented. My only criticism was that the service was over-controlled. When shown to my table, I was advised that the waitress would come and explain how things worked. but unfortunately, she did not but I overheard another guest being advised not to help himself from the buffet since the waitress had to serve the food. I was actually served by someone else - I asked for fried eggs, tomatoes and hash browns - I got 1 fried egg, half a tomato and 2 hash browns - a bit meagre when everyone else had high piled plates. But maybe I should have been more insistent? The food was good and the coffee excellent. Overall, a satisfying breakfast and stay.
