Arrived at one of the 2 roons we had booked but TV wasn't working so we were moved no hassle. 2nd Room had an item from a previous guest flung behind a chair. One room had too few tea bags to allow an evening and morning drink. Ordered evening meals and breakfasts arrived promptly were cold. One small pot of tea for 2 was inadequate. Long and loud disturbance at 130am which was eventually dealt with after a lot of shouting, and foul language but not before all 4 of us were fully awake and the 2 children thorougly frightened. No apologies or explanations offered. Taking the children for an early swim was a disappointment with the floor of the pool decidedly grubby with all angles brown with muck or discolouration.

The hotel is good value. The facilities (pool) needs a good refurb. The staff were excellent. The parking is a bit strange I understand it is owned by a third party.

Fabulous hotel with friendly and efficient staff. In the middle St Helens so well placed with ample parking (lots of signs telling you to book your car in!). Used the leisure facilities and they were great again with friendly and efficient staff and very clean. Restaurant staff great and the food was excellent. Can’t praise the hotel highly enough so won’t deduct any stars for the only bugbear from the stay. We booked half board but no details on Hotels.com and no details on reception apart from it was dinner and breakfast. The cost was £80 so seemed reasonable but the additional cost for breakfast on the booking page was £11 ( full cost £25). So even at full cost the “Dinner allowance should have been £55 but we were told in the restaurant to order as normal they would deduct £40 from the bill. Clearly not an economic option so will not book this type of stay in the future. Hotel might say they are deducting vat from the fee but that does not make sense either as vat is included in the prices paid. Drinks were extra which we expected and the cost in comparison to other places was reasonable. Will use Mercure again but not on a half board basis.

Great location, short walk to the train station. Plenty of food options in the surrounding area. Hotel is lovely, room was spacious and clean. Staff friendly. The pool/steam/sauna were great aswell. You need to book a slot to swim, the staff were really helpful so just pop in to ask for times.

Handily located for St Helens town centre. The room was clean, the bed was at least King size. Breakfast was really nice, we only did continental but there were some hot options too. I used the swimming pool and steam room one morning (towels are provided).

Very convenient in proximity to station. Good for business location. 28 dgr !!! In room and unable to change the temperature despite the very noisy AC. Very humid and difficult to sleep. Had a room with a connecting door (room 322). Could hear occupants in adjoining room talking into early hours of the morning. Otherwise we had a good stay and good food in the restaurant. Restaurant menu is quite comprehensive I might add.

Air conditioning wasn’t working for the first 3 nights and it was baking at night! The windows will not open either which exaggerates the situations and gives the room a stall smell! The air con issue was resolved by the last night however.

Clearly had been a great hotel but somewhat needs a refurb. Room was well appointed, fridge was a nice surprise. However, one towel was full of holes, and the beds were VERY uncomfortable due to the mattresses being well past their best. We requested, and we're promised that the mattresses would be changed while we were out for the day, however on our late return if it had been changed then only worth another past-it mattress.

Arrived just as a coach full of Spanish travellers arrived so we headed to the bar to wait to check in. After checking in and reaching our room were dismayed to see bathroom had a leak and the floor was covered in water. We were told hotel was fully booked (a wedding party was taking place) but the lovely receptionist managed to swap rooms for us but unfortunately this was on a lower floor above the party. The new room was very clean and warm- too warm with the temperature measuring 26.7degrees so we needed the air conditioning on- very noisy and hot! A lot of noise from the wedding music too! Just unfortunate!

Whilst I understand different hotels have different levels of accommodation and services depending on price but staff be courteous should be a given but at this hotel it was just short of terrible. So obvious the staff didn’t want to be there and guests were an inconvenience.

We were not initially happy with our room as a lot of the light was blocked by the building. We spoke to Raj the manager at reception and he was extremely helpful and we couldn’t fault the customer service. He immediately offered us another room and in fact went above and beyond and offered a suite which was on the 3rd highest floor so view/light was not blocked. Overall, had a nice spacious room, decent breakfast and enjoyable stay.

It’s a place to shower and sleep. Pretty clean room but there aren’t any amenities and the staff aren’t real friendly…..would not let us check in early. Check in is 3pm and we were told that we wouldn’t be able to check in early even though we’d just flown all night from the US and took four trains to get to St Helen’s to come to a funeral. Don’t expect much

Had called the hotel last week to arrange an early check in for one of our 2 rooms as we were attending a wedding. Was told it would be £20 additional charge. Arrived at 12, gave our names and said we were checking in only to be told quite clearly that check in was 3pm. I explained we had booked an early check in and was told no record of it instead of perhaps saying ‘let me look into that for you’. Eventually got a room but was certainly left feeling that the customer service could be improved to ensure customers are left feeling welcomed rather than not.

I cannot express enough how helpful the staff were, i missed my gig due to horrendous rail services, but the staff went above and beyond to assist me. I'm out of pocket by a huge amount of money due to the late trains

Nice hotel , 2 mins from town centre, 10 min walk to rugby ground. Staff very helpful and checked to see if our room was ready so we could check in early. Room was decent, comfy bed, tea coffee in the room. Car park free just had to input car details on tablet. There is a £50 surcharge at checkin for any breakages but that was regunded about 3 hours after check out. I would stay again

Good location for the centre of the town and parking on site. Not a picturesque site but the hotel is of a good standard. The breakfast was not good the self service offering was not hot and had been in the warming containers for some time. Drop a star for a poor breakfast but I would stay again.

Great location to leave Liverpool from back to the midlands the next day. Hard work getting back into Liverpool city centre because of copious amount t of traffic lights. Would stay there again that said!

Fabulous hotel with friendly and efficient staff. In the middle St Helens so well placed with ample parking (lots of signs telling you to book your car in!). Used the leisure facilities and they were great again with friendly and efficient staff and very clean. Restaurant staff great and the food was excellent. Can’t praise the hotel highly enough so won’t deduct any stars for the only bugbear from the stay. We booked half board but no details on Hotels.com and no details on reception apart from it was dinner and breakfast. The cost was £80 so seemed reasonable but the additional cost for breakfast on the booking page was £11 ( full cost £25). So even at full cost the “Dinner allowance should have been £55 but we were told in the restaurant to order as normal they would deduct £40 from the bill. Clearly not an economic option so will not book this type of stay in the future. Hotel might say they are deducting vat from the fee but that does not make sense either as vat is included in the prices paid. Drinks were extra which we expected and the cost in comparison to other places was reasonable. Will use Mercure again but not on a half board basis.

Great location, short walk to the train station. Plenty of food options in the surrounding area. Hotel is lovely, room was spacious and clean. Staff friendly. The pool/steam/sauna were great aswell. You need to book a slot to swim, the staff were really helpful so just pop in to ask for times.

Handily located for St Helens town centre. The room was clean, the bed was at least King size. Breakfast was really nice, we only did continental but there were some hot options too. I used the swimming pool and steam room one morning (towels are provided).

We generally stay in this hotel when we visit family in St. Helens. It’s always very clean and comfortable but can be quite pricey. This weekend however the breakfast was very disappointing. It was mostly cold as was the tea and coffee and the coffee machine wasn’t working either.

One of the nicest hotels we have stayed in. The staff were all friendly, welcoming and efficient. The facilities were excellent, and parking was very easy. All round, the hotel was nice and clean. Food was very good, especially the breakfast, tasty, hot and plenty. It was an easy walk into the town. All round, a great experience for us, highly recommended.

Had a room with a connecting door (room 322). Could hear occupants in adjoining room talking into early hours of the morning. Otherwise we had a good stay and good food in the restaurant. Restaurant menu is quite comprehensive I might add.
