Great location, 5 minute walk along the canal to town. Hotel is opposite the train station, fire station & a supermarket. Room was nice & mostly clean although a desk lamp had quite a thick coat of dust on the base. Our room overlooked the road at the front which is busy - noise didn’t really bother us but would probably ask for a canal side room next time. Nice bar area. Had dinner in the restaurant & it was good, but small portions. Salmon came with 3 very small 1/4 roast potatoes. Black olive & feta salad had no olives! There is a supermarket over the road… Breakfast was good, although the beans were cold. Staff were great, especially the lovely lady who served breakfast.

Very comfortable room with a superb shower located in Herriot House. Food was excellent for both breakfast and dinner and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Free parking was very convenient. Would definitely use again.

Comfortable family hotel on the edge of the dales. We were given rooms in the annex where the lift was out of order the whole stay and the roof was leaking on the stairwell will white mould on the carpet. The room was comfortable enough and the breakfast was very good.

Rooms were above function room. Both nights there was a function on until 12pm which we werent made aware of until checking in. On speaking to a manager she laughed and thought it was funny we were inconvenienced!! We spent alot of money at this hotel and feel very let down

A pleasant hotel with nice location by the canal with easy access and short walk into town. Pleasant, helpful staff and a good restaurant on site but also many food choices nearby. Only problem is no proper lift and the lift for disabled access / luggage is in need of some maintenance with only one person at a time allowed and rather slow, noisy and creaky

Poor management, tried to blame Hotels.com for not pre advising of two functions taking place below our three rooms which would be located above. Checked with hotels.com and they have never been advised from the hotel. When we brought up the noise from the function room upon departure the manager just laughed. Even if we did know we were booked on a non refundable rate so would have been unable to get a refund.

The hotel was clean and well furnished . Not so easy for people with mobility issues as steps to rhubarb restaurant and we also had stairs to our room - no lift on our side of the hotel . Also a step into the room . Fine for us but not for all guests . Room very very warm , although had 2 fans just circulated the warm air . We were at the front of the hotel so the traffic disturbed you too . Poor service for breakfast on the Sunday morning - think they were short staffed .!!

We expected someone on reception but had to go in to the bar. Staff were nice enough. The room was tiny but ok I suppose. One on the hand towels had makeup stains on it, we shared 1 so it was fine. The bedding had a brown mark on it and the pillows far to hard for me but my husband liked them. Breakfast was ok but we wont be rushing back

Stay was good. Food good! Cleanliness let it down abit. Few hairs on bathroom floor and a couple on toilet. Came down to breskfast and dog hair on stairs and on the floor in the bar area alot of dog hairs. I understand they let pets stay which i dont mind but the hair needs to be removed

Staff excellent, room clean and comfortable, great breakfast, only couple of negatives; bathroom door was sliding and had no lock so not very private, and radiator knocked all night no matter what setting we tried, as no staff on duty at night we had to grin and bare it, other than that would definitely recommend the Herriot.

We were in room 10, up 4 flights of filthy stairs, carpet looked as it it hadn't been cleaned this year and some stairs had no lighting. Evening meal was a disaster everything we chose they didn't have staff said it was because of a busy bank holiday but the had a whole day to restock we only wanted steaks!! Cooked breakfast was served cold and the bacon was like cardboard I was asked if i would like sauce asked for brown but it never materialised. It's been quite a while since we stayed here but from this experience we won't be coming back.

Easy check in , safe & easy & free self park, nice building lots of character & fantastic canal side location, easy walk to town & local attractions, plenty of bars/restaurants nearby, Morrisons supermarket very close & across the road from railway station… comfortable bed good nights sleep, minimal noise, good breakfast included… only slight negatives were …. Our room was quite hot despite being early autumn but the windows did open & wifi in our room was unusable due to slow lagging speeds & constantly dropping out but maybe better in other rooms… overall a great choice for staying in the lovely town of Skipton

One night stay. Modern updated room with great bathroom and bath. The taps were a concern since the water could shoot out the sink! Bed comfortable but didn’t like the pine posts made to resemble four poster bed. They detracted from the room making it appear smaller and one post was in the way of the tv. Room hot but there was an air conditioning unit that could be used.

Our bedroom, whilst one of the dearer ones, was incredibly noisy from the traffic outside. Think the room could have benefited from triple glazed windows. Also would have liked some cold meats and cheese on the breakfast buffet.

Our room was modern & overlooking the picturesque canal boat mooring area. Bathroom was small & the shower door was a tight squeeze for anyone above average girth. Also there was little space for storage in both shower-room or bedroom. The bedroom was very warm but there was an electric fan, which helped.The on-site restaurant [Rhubarb's] was comfortable and the food was good. Parking on site and an easy walk into town.

It was very noisy we couldn’t open the wi Dow as the heavy traffic continued all night. The Dan in the room was noisy too. Dangerous step n the bathroom caused my husband and I to trip over several times. We upgraded expecting g a quiet room with a view how wrong we were!!! Wharfe Room

I was not impressed being ‘ejected’ , as a resident at the hotel, at 11pm on a Saturday night. As a hotel resident, every where else I have stayed I could get a drink. On this occasion there were probably 15 hotel guests in the bar but we were all evicted. I will not be staying there again.

Very comfortable 2 night stay. Cleanliness of room was good and bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was good. We ate in the hotel restaurant on one evening and the only negative comment was that they forgot to bring our drinks initially and the food service was slow. The meal was excellent when we got it.

In general ok but tbh for the money paid i expected a far better level of customer service . Asked to check in early ( around 2pm ) and was promptly met with check in is 3pm no earlier.. breakfast service was good on Sunday but really slow on Monday around a 30 min wait and then hard poached eggs, black puddungs and hash browns rock hard

We had a 3-night stay to attend a wedding locally. All went well until Sunday morning when the breakfast was so slow in our order being taken and its non-delivery before we had to leave. Our complaint was met with courtesy "the kitchen is very busy and every one came in at once". Apologies hardly compensated for no cooked breakfast which we were depending upon. Check in was easy, with a pleasant lady telling us what to do. Our bedroom was small but adequate overlooking the main road. The train station is across the road. It's about a ten minute walk to Skipton town centre, and you can walk along the canal side, which we did and was pleasant. The breakfast was good, either cooked or continental. The bad bit! The extractor fan in the bathroom would not go off. We turned the light off and there is usually a delay before they go off, but this one stayed on....all night! Room was nice & mostly clean although a desk lamp had quite a thick coat of dust on the base. Our room overlooked the road at the front which is busy - noise didn’t really bother us but would probably ask for a canal side room next time. Nice bar area. Had dinner in the restaurant & it was good, but small portions. Salmon came with 3 very small 1/4 roast potatoes. Black olive & feta salad had no olives! There is a supermarket over the road… Breakfast was good, although the beans were cold. Staff were great, especially the lovely lady who served breakfast.

Really enjoyed our stay ..easy to find..off road private parking..the hotel is very welcoming nicely decorated and clean...the bar is a good size and well stocked..the room was large with plenty of storage and room to sit and read or study..the bathroom had a bath with shower and toilet.. plenty of hot water..the bed was very comfy and sheets were fresh and clean..The breakfast was amazing with everything you could want and plenty of it.Only 10 mins walk into town along the canal which runs directly behind the hotel...All in all a great hotel

Excellent hotel and the staff were all lovely and pleasant. convenient for public transport and easy to access other towns by car. Leeds and Liverpool canal running along the back of the hotel with a large park on the other side. It was very pleasant to take short walk along the canal to the town with plenty of dog walkers on the way

A most enjoyable stay. We would have preferred a more varied dinner menu. We were a bit irritated about having to pay for everything as we ordered it rather than charging items to our room and settling up when we checked out which is the norm for other hotels. We thought the whole breakfast event was first class. All of the staff were outstanding.

Very comfortable 2 night stay. Cleanliness of room was good and bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was good. We ate in the hotel restaurant on one evening and the only negative comment was that they forgot to bring our drinks initially and the food service was slow. The meal was excellent when we got it.

Herriots is in a great location to be able to walk into Skipton, we chose to walk via the canal which was lovely. Our room was comfortable with a very small en suite. We ate in their Rhubarb restaurant, portions weren’t large but very tasty, the lady who was front of the house was excellent. Breakfast was good although very busy. Altogether a good stay.

We stayed in the house next door rather than the hotel itself. The room was large and had good en-suite facilities. Although a couple in a double room, we couldn't get two keys to the room and had to use the key-safe on the side of the house. So whoever arrives first has to extract the keys, open the main door to the house, open the bedroom door, return to the key-safe and re-deposit the keys, hoping that another guest hasn't closed the door to the house or gone wandering into the bedroom in the meantime. When the second guest arrives, the same procedure has to be gone through or you have to bang on the window in the hope that your wife has arrived and isn't sleeping heavily. Here's an idea - have another set of keys cut to avoid all this. Breakfast was good. What wasn't so good was the easy-listening music that was piped through to you while having breakfast. Perhaps the owners think they are running a supermarket.

this is the second time i have stayed at the hotel, which has a car park i was unsure what happens when car park is full, i was informed from management that they would refund any car park tickets which is very reassuring and take the stress out of finding a place to park. there is a nice walk along the canal to all the shops
