Ye Olde Talbot Hotel by Greene King Inns

The property is pretty old; so am I, in human terms. So inevitably no lift, but a solid staircase is fine; but there are steps in the corridor and even within the rooms (or my room, anyway) which need care. And I couldn't quite manage to open the window, even a little. The staff friendly and helpful; food fine, if fairly simply (which is OK for me); breakfast coffee not hot enough ... but it's a great place, full of character, and so near the cathedral I feared to be disturbed by bells; but I wasn't, and it was quiet at night. Well worth a visit! *****

Hotel is in an excellent location and close to multi storey carpark. Rooms are a good size and comfortable. Bar are is good with a good selection of food and drink. I would definitely recommend the breakfast

great location only downside was parking when the multi story was closed but worth the 5 minute walk

The staff were fabulous. My room was very quaint: beautiful 4 poster bed etc. Location was quite quiet & Worcester was lovely. Great stay thank you. Car parking a bit of a navigational issue but managed it!

Situated near the centre, parking is available free after 5.45pm and until 8 45 am. Staff were excellent, I had a large clean room with a sofa, whilst being slightly dated it was functional and fine for one night. I would stay again. Wi fi was very good and free. Excellent water pressure in the shower. On site bar served decent food.

You need to be agile and have a good sense of direction. Many stairs and corridors to my room. Very basic room, stairs to bathroom with wornout carpet and in need of up dating. Slippery bath and hard to use taps. Water following from tap as well as shower. Also not aware when booking of no car park.

it's an old, old building that has been changed and upgraded many times over the years. It is historic, close to the cathedral. Our room was clean and well kept, but some public areas were slightly tired (not surprising given its age). The pub itself was very good. We didn't eat this time but our experience of Greene King pubs means the food would be good value and well presented. We will stay again. There were signs that some rooms or areas are already being refurbished, which is probably an ongoing project for such an old building. Car parking: the St Martins Car Park (8 mins walk) has EV rapid and fast charge points, and costs £4 per 24 hours. Another closer council car park costs £6. An adjacent NCP car park probably costs more but is close by.

The room has seen much better days. Curtains hanging off the rail, threadbare carpet, dated furniture. Bathroom spacious but had an unclean feel to it. Woodwork faded and chipped. For £135, room only, for our one night stay, I was very disappointed. The advertising photos dont give you the true picture of this hotel. No lift so getting a heavy suitcase up the stairs was a challenge. I have stayed in a lot of hotel rooms. This one is memorable for all the wrong reasons. On the plus side, if you dont mind roughing it the hotel is central! Parking was a nightmare. The NCP car park entrance is blocked off on the hotel side, so navigating the one way system to get to the other side was another experience I wouldnt want to repeat. I will not be a returning guest. If you have standards this is NOT the hotel for you. If I had booked for any more than one night I would have checked out. The staff are lovely.

Perfect little place to stay with a pub directly downstairs. Our bin in the bathroom wasn't empty when we arrived, but this was likely just forgotten by housekeeping - not a big issue. Would stay again!

A fan was provided in my room, but this barely compensated for inability to open windows fully on hot evenings: the fan was laughably underpowered. Room service was cursory: my bed was remade once during a three night stay, but this consisted of straightening the duvet. Food is provided in the pub below: I did not try the food but the menu is extensive and typical of a chain pub. Reception is largely unstaffed. The hotel does not provide spare or additional keys, which is a resilience issue.

We didn’t enjoy our stay at the property. It was very tired looking. Small room, not well presented and the bathroom was grubby. The bed wasn’t comfortable and pushed against the wall, barely any space to walk round the bed, only one set of towels. Wouldn’t recommend, definitely not value for money. The pub itself is nice, enjoyed our drinks.

this review is not aimed at the staff but the owners.My room was not clean because it was uncleanable. Peeling wall paper threadbare and dirty carpets, mould in the bathroom, dirty and scuffed walls. The wifi couldn't connect, there were no USB ports, the tv didn't work and the remote control was so dirty is was a health hazard. th ebuilding looks like it hasn't had any investment for decades. Don't fall for the excuse from Greene King that it is a an old building and it is quirky. It is dilapidated.

Stayed here many times over the years. It needs a lick of paint and the carpets need clean. Its looking tired.

Great hotel attached to good pub. Room clean and comfortable. Check in a breeze. Loads of pubs and restaurants nearby in Worcester. Pretty quiet considering location. Breakfast was excellent. Will stay again

Room 19 is a bit noisy as it’s above the bar and the music can be heard through the floorboards

Check-in to the hotel was good. Quick service by reception. Got to the room and it was clean but very basic. I stayed in this hotel with work over 8 years ago & the carpet & furniture which looked dated then, have still not been replaced. The hotel is close to the cathedral & in the city centre. It could be a gem if the rooms had some money spent on them.

Comfortable room at very reasonable price including full breakfast, which was excellent. Convenient for city centre, cathedral and cricket (my reason for trip). I travelled by train so can't comment on parking. It's an old inn so rooms are not super-modern but have character. It was very warm until I had had the windows open overnight. A fan was provided but I was glad I missed the predicted heatwave a few days later. With windows open there was a degree of street noise, e.g. bin lorries early morning. I will return provided there's no heatwave forecast!

There was no heating in the room. Radiators we’re off.

It was fine for an over night stay, but rooms need updating. Beds were comfortable and good strong shower. Rooms at front of hotel if a warm night, are noisy with window open, so not ideal. That said, it was reasonably priced, so not too bad all in all.

The hotel rooms are run down, there was only warm or hot water available in the taps (no cold water from either the sink or the shower!). Staff were ok, but seemed pretty disinterested. Pub attached seemed quite nice. I have been overcharged for the booking, and it's proving incredibly difficult to get the refund sorted. Hotels.com have been useless.

Fantastic hotel right in the centre of Worcester. Staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough to help you. I left something in my room on departure and they called me straight away and organised to return to me. Amazing service, will definitely stay again

Lovely and clean, on the edge of the Town centre, opposite the Cathedral. Great for walking into the Centre and quiet at night, apart from the noise of people staying in the Talbot. An old coaching inn, with plenty of character and a warren of walks to get to some rooms. The room we had was a bit dark, but coped with the lights as we were visiting family, who lived local. Staff were lovely from the guys checking us in to the housekeepers cleaning the rooms. Would stay again

The staff that checked me in was lazy and uninterested in guiding me to my room. Abd i got lost inside so many time. You will have to wait till eternity at the reception before someone comes to answer you. The building was very old and looked very dirty, my toilet wasn't flushing very well. The heaters weren't working. No telephone gadget to reach out to the reception where necessary.

We had to wait for the receptionist on check in.When we walked to the room my heart sank the decore and condition of the hallway was seedy and grubby.Frayed Threadbare carpet held down with tape.Scuffed and dirty paint work etc. The itself was ok if a little tired ,however it was stiflingly hot . We switched the radiator off and opened the windows and then went out for the evening When we returned to the room 3 hours later it was still too hot. The noise from the road outside our window made sleep almost impossible even with the windows closed and the still too warm room , but this isn’t the worst bit . We could here some body rattling the doors of the rooms on our floor , this went on for hours until the young woman started rattling the door on our room . I went to the door and said loudly , what are you doing whilst looking through the spy hole. I saw a woman in her mid twenties clearly under the influence of drugs and or alcohol stood there . She backed away from the door . A while later 4 police officers came and took her away , having parked the police car outside our window and talking for some minutes about the situation . At around 6 am we the heard 3 street sweeper vehicles coming past our room . One of them reversing with the beep beep noise. After such a terrible night we decided to cut short my wife’s birthday treat and went to check out . We used the locator on the reception several times but had to go and find someone. Emma the team leader apologised

Great place to stay, location is good for both shopping and transport links and the staff are all very helpful. The breakfast was amazing but you need to book in advance as we left it too late on one day and as they were fully booked we had to go elsewhere.

Walking distance from train station.cheap and cheerful. Very good value for money. We usually stay here when we visit Worcester

It was in the old centre of the city, and walking distance which was brilliant. Also close to the river and cathedral which we liked visiting.
