Best Western Beachside Inn

Advertised pool and it was closed. Overpowering “cover-up-smell;” smelled like sweet carpet cleaner powder everywhere. Carpet in our room was wet (I t think coming from leak shower floor) evidence of previous repair. Properly location was a GREAT plus. Nice walk to beach.

Elevator broken, ice maker broken. Room dirty, and strong Pinesol smell, like hiden something.

Large room, nice hot tub by the pool, basic breakfast.

The location served us well. Frequently items were not available and took several days to replenish. No recycling and dispensers in bathroom were not used, requiring many small one use non recycling containers. The room and hallways worn. Hot tub was excellent for two days and then was not working for the rest of our stay. Variety at breakfast was minimal.

Short walk to the beach and hot tub was a plus.

There is no central a/c for this property, the only a/c units are in the individual hotel rooms and some individual units by the front door and kitchen area in the lobby. Prepare to sweat while leaving and entering your room, especially if you’re on the 2nd and 3rd floor. The hallways are very warm and humid. The a/c units in the hallways are broken and do not work. The ice machines on the 2nd and 3rd floor do not work. The complimentary breakfast was gross, the eggs and sausage are steamed in water and have zero flavor.

The lamp was broken. The TV was broken no AC in the Gym room Gym equipment broken. Ceiling was leaking in the bathroom and flooded the room. They told us there’s nothing they could do about it and just gave us another room for our last day.

It was a wonderful visit and stay, but the staff during check in was rude and unfriendly. Both the pool and hot tub were filthy. Additionally, there were no toiletries of any sort in the bathroom and the bathroom was slightly dirty.

The jacuzzi was not working.

The jacuzzi didn’t work The ice machine on our floor didnt work. The telephone in our room didn’t work and when we tried to call the desk on our cell phone, no one answered. The breakfast workers were very nice.

This stay was so disappointing. The noise was awful, the sheets must have been 10 years old, the soap dispenser in the shower was empty, the tray to set your wash cloth on was rusted, the green chairs in the room were torn up, and the carpets in the room were dirty.

The grout in my shower was black in many spots and my towels were dingy. The breakfast offerings were meager. The staff was excellent and the location to the beach was good.

It was quiet and peaceful. My room had a pretty bad smell, and the floor felt like it needed to be shampooed. It was nothing special, but it wasn’t bad.

Hotel needs renovation, it’s old and rusty. Bathroom sink pipe smells terrible. Towels are old and rough. We saw a roach come from under the door of our room. I will NOT stay there again.

We had a room with two queen beds. One was much better than the other. The poor one, you could feel the springs. As for cleanliness, don't wear white socks in the room. Mine were black on the bottom after about a half-hour walking around. They need to either extract the carpets once in awhile or change the flooring to hard surface. Their breakfast was good, typical eggs, sausage, waffles etc.. Staff was friendly.

This was a quick get away for my birthday. The room was great our view of the awnings was great. We loved that it was a suite so there was a separate area just to relax and not be on the bed. Breakfast was good and fresh. We asked the front desk for dinner recommendations and they did not disappoint. The staff was great and even though it was a trek to the beach it was worth booking Best Western Beachside Inn.

The hotel was good value, for a 2 star. The first room we were given was a bit smelly and the mattress felt to old and saggy. However, they promptly offered to swap for another room which was ok in the end. We also enjoyed the complimentary breakfast.

At check in, the girl used the absolute minimun words possible. Our room was musty smelling and there was something spilled on the floor by the bed. The door to the bathroom was suoer loud and would stick when opening or closing. The remote didnt work with the tv. We called down and she was at least quick to bring us the correct remote. After the first couple nights, the ac went out. The girl at the desk this time was far more pleasant. They quickly switched us to a different room. The new room was much better than the first. Everything worked and it even had more pillows on the beds. The obly downside was that it was next door to the guest laundry, and someone must have been drying tennis shoes early in the morning.

The exercise room was hot. The carpet in our room was damp; the room seemed humid. The air conditioner was too noisy, the shower leaked. The bed was uncomfortable.

We stayed in the 300 floor. You can hear through the door teenagers talking and hanging out in the hallway from 1 am to 5 am. My family didnt get any sleep that night. I wouldnt come back here again.

Room 218. 2 queen beds, both on the stiff side. First night was bearable , second night my back was killing me. One elevator for 3 floors. Cramped breakfast area. Electrical outlets to charge phones need replacing as the charging heads would fall out. Bath towels were run thin, they need to buy new ones. I figured the price we paid was due to the off season but after staying two nights the price reflected the conditions of the property.

The night we stayed there, there was a storm. I don’t know if the roof was metal or not, but the rain was loud. My suggestion is to ask for a room on the first floor. The room itself was fine although the bathroom showed signs of wear. The room had a cushioned bench seat in front of the window which was a cozy place to just chill. Breakfast included sausage, eggs, Texas shaped waffles, etc.

Staff was very friendly and the room was clean and made up for us when we arrived. Definitely would book again for another weekend in the future.

Front office lady was not pleasant. Every time we spoke to her she acted like we were bothering her. We were only given 3 towels with 4 guests in the room and were told we had to swap out towels to get an additional towel. We stayed for 3 nights and our room was never visited for clean towels , toilet paper refills etc. The lady that served breakfast on July 11th was extremely friendly and pleasant!

We checked in for 2 hours and decided to stay elsewhere and they charged us for a day. How it got 8.6 rating is suspect. The room was not bad though. They said they didn't have body wash only little shampoos and conditioners. Wouldn't bring anything to the room. There was an annoying beeping going on in another room that they gave excuses about being able to fix. Need something go down and get it yourself. I read the reviews prior which is why I booked and was very disappointed. Only bar soap available despite having places in the bathroom for dispensers which were empty.

Staff was always friendly, helpful and respectful. They offered help at all times. Manager was extremely helpful and easy going

I had an emergency work trip that could not be helped. I booked the room last minute as I was on my way in. The trip kept me up and awake for over 30 hours which is what it is. However, I had a quick break to go to the hotel for hopefully a nap before getting back to work. The manager refused to give me a room until 3pm. I explained the situation and they could care less, I explained this was my only chance for the next several hours to sleep, and just need a room, which had already been paid for. They refused. I told them to cancel the room, they refused, and then said that if they did cancel it I would not get money back. I told them they were not going to charge me for a bed that they refused to give me. The kid working the desk when I arrived was polite and it was not his fault, his boss however, not so much. later in the morning I was afraid the trip looked like it would be extended, I asked the manager who was there if she could please look at extending the stay, because I need to rush out right then and there and just wanted to make sure were all good before it was too late to extend it. She snarky looked at me and said no I'm eating my lunch. I just looked at her, and said I needed to rush, if she could please just check. To which she said, "oh you're the one who caused problems cause you wanted to be here early." No one plans for these things, but when a customer has already purchased a room, and it's a rush, provide the service.

Upon checkin my and 2 friends rooms had only 2 towels & no wash cloths or hand towels. We asked front desk for those items amd was curtly told “That’s all we have” I asked “Do you mean you don’t provide these items here” & again curtly was told “Oh we have but none are available right now”. This was at 5:45pm, a fairly normal checkin time, and they don’t have any available. I pushed a little and was able 2 get 2 washcloths at 8pm. Also, the room is booked was to have a handicap accessible Bathroom. It had a safety rail by the toilet but no rails, handles or anything to assist around the tub. Clerk said that’s all that was available and I’d need to talk to the third party vendor who booked my room. The front desk clerk fairly non-communicative during all this and showed no interest in our issues. Everything else with our stay was pretty nice. Excellent breakfast

The staff at the front desk was very nice. We were there for 3 nights and never had our room cleaned. My husband saw them in the hallway and said they could come in as we were leaving and she said no.

The hotel is very convenient to restaurants and shopping. The room was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was great each morning. The hotel is only a very short walk from the beach.

This hotel is centrally located in South Padre. It is in between the bay side and the beach side. I would not say the island is walkable unless you really like walking. You can walk to the beach easy and a few gift shops. We did end up using Uber a lot to get around so if your thinking of getting a car or not I would definitely get a car.

The sign at the hotel says it's beach side inn. it's not at the beach. its in the middle of the island.. Not that I minded, but we had to walk a little ways to get to the beach. Aside from that, it wasn't bad.

User friendly, really nice pool setting, convenient, pleasant staff, great hot breakfast, great access to the beach and everywhere else. We will come again.....for sure!
