Kauai Coast Resort at the Beach Boy

The property was right on the coast, but in an area too dangerous to allow beach/ ocean access. It had a woefully inadequate pool. The pool was too small and too shallow to swim in. There was no excuse for this given the size of the surrounding grounds and the fact that they already had a baby pool and a hot tub. The lodging was dated, which I generally don’t care about. What I did care about was the lack of sound-proofing. The herd of elephants in the room above was quite annoying in the evenings and first thing in the morning. The flooring appeared new. Why couldn’t they have soundproofed?

The pool is nicer than the pictures, they do have a pool bar which opens daily between 12-6, which is nice. They are open up the pool and Jacuzzi up until late - 10PM. I wish they would leave the Jacuzzi at least open later and have more convenient sitting places for night time for those who enjoy the nights (not that popular in Hawaii apparently) The kitchen was well equipped, which was important for us for a long stay. They also have a dryer and washer in the room and supply the powder for that which is great! They don't have a lot of "attractions" things to do on property, adding a pool table, ping pong, video games for kids could be a nice addition. They do have large 4 in a row game and "bags". Anyone can wonder into the property and I suspect that some locals actually do, I saw one of the sellers from a nearby shop enjoy the Jacuzzi one evening - but Aloha. It didn't bother us. This is the case with all of the coastline resorts, some give your bracelet to "fight" these phenomena. All in all was a great place to stay for a family of 6.

We enjoyed the rooms, the pool, hot tub and the walking paths. Great sunrise views. We also liked being so close to the shopping center across the street. Very convenient.

Pool and jacuzzi open late.

The front desk was amazing. We appreciated the ability to text our needs. The resort was quiet which we loved. Our room smelled very musty. We came home with a suitcase full of clothes that had inherited that smell even though I had done the laundry before we left. The bed was worn out and I couldn’t sleep the first night. Maintenance did bring a board for under the mattress which helped a little. Difficult to enjoy vacation when you cannot get a good nights sleep. The hot tub was lukewarm. We asked for it to be repaired but it appeared no one fixed it. Disappointing! We had stayed at this resort years ago and it was lovely. The quality has definitely declined and therefore we will not be returning.

The pools and hot tub were excellent. Great coffee bar in the morning and water and juice in the afternoon. Excellent parking and great proximity to the Coconut Market Place. Very comfortable beds. The only negative was that the tv channel guide provided did not match the tv channels. And there was no guide on the tv itself.

Pros: washer and dryer in suites. Convenient location. Lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Great shopping center right across property. Plenty of parking and it’s free. Plenty of clean grills around property. Kids friendly. Cons: property very outdated. No elevators, had to carry my suitcases up 3 flights of stairs. Timeshare sales pitch upon check in.

Elija at the front desk was very helpful, and always super friendly. Beauiful property grounds, and close to the ocean. Need to add elevator to buildings.

My wife and I both loved staying. The location was great. There is a beautiful beach just steps from our room. The grounds were well maintained and there was plenty for everyone. Pools, a hot tub, outdoor showers, public BBQs, games, and plenty of lounge chairs. There is a cute mall area right across the road with plenty of shopping and dining options. All easily walkable. Our room was very nice. The full kitchen was well equipped. The bathroom with double sinks was a nice bonus. The unit as a whole was a little dated, but otherwise very nice. A few issues we had were that the balcony doors were both sticky and difficult to open. Also, the balcony door in the bedroom didn't shut properly so the sensor for the AC in there didn't work consistently. Also, some of drawers on the bedroom furniture were wonky and made them difficult to open or close. Beyond that, though it was a wonderful unit. We're pretty self-sustaining so we didn't deal with the staff too much, but those that we did were very pleasant and happy to help. I definitely recommend getting a room key bracelet as it was much more convenient than carrying the default card key.

Had a great stay! Clean room and beautiful grounds. Right next door to a wonderful marketplace with several shops.

Convenient location. Room was surface looking clean but there was mold in the bathroom and roaches in the kitchen.

From the time we arrived the staff on site was kind and courteous. Room was clean and everything was in good working condition. We loved the large lanai off our 2nd story room. The pool and grounds where well kept and there was always someone tending to the landscaping which was beautiful. There where several dining option within walking distance. We had dinner at the Hukilau Lanai and it was excellent. We will be staying there again when we return to Kauai

First of all, we really liked the location of this resort and the property itself was really well kept and beautiful. However, the particular room we were assigned (#3109 in Canoe building) was not great. When we first entered the room we were welcomed with an overwhelming pungent odor of mold/mildew/mustiness. The front desk was contacted and they replaced the air filter and put an ionizer in the room while we were not in it. This did help the smell decrease over time, but it was very apparent that the staff knew this was an issue with our specific room. I'm not sure why a complete remodel/overhaul of this room in particular is not being done to alleviate this known issue (the smell was really bad inside the dishwasher so that may be the culprit). There were some other issues with the room such as the closet door in the twin bed room was wonky and the door of that same bedroom would not stay open unless propped. Otherwise the Coconut Marketplace right next door was a really nice to walk around at and the location on the island to get to both sides pretty easily was also a bonus. The Lava Lava Beach Club at the property right next door was a great place for dinner!

Pretty much everything about this place is fantastic and it was a very relaxing stay. Lots of easy parking close by, right on the beach with a well maintained pool and hot tub with tiki torches around it, a very spacious room, quiet air conditioning, very comfortable mattresses, light blocking curtains, in-suite laundry, and everything was clean. Overall, excellent value for what we paid. My only minor complaints is the dryer was very slow. After an hour and 30 minutes of drying time on medium heat we gave up and took our clothes home damp. I suspect the dryer vent may be partially blocked.

It's a nice property right on the beach. The water is a bit rough to swim in, but a 10 minute drive down the street, you can go swimming/snorkeling in calmer waters. We enjoyed catching the morning sunrise and running on the beach. It's located in the middle of Kauai, easy access to the north shore or the south shore. Convenient to shopping centers and restaurants. Walking distance to the Coconut Marketplace and excursions if you want to book one. I like the full kitchen. We made our own breakfast every morning and even grilled burgers one night. What I dislike, is the interior is a bit outdated. It was annoying needing to get their wristband (it's a time share property). They made it inconvenient to get it. You can only get it from 2:30pm-7pm. My family and I are out exploring during this time. The hotel room could have been cleaned a bit better when we first got there. They were sand on the floor, strands of hair in the shower, and cups that were not cleaned. Aside from theses issues, we had a great stay, and would come back.

Good location to travel north, south, and west of island. Coconut marketplace covenient for dining options. Rooms are outdated, musty smell maybe due to humid weather and AC in rooms but nonetheless still smelled not sure if common issue with other places on island and we did encounter a cockroach during our stay. Nice path way to walk through nearby and Lae Nani beach is walking distance too.

Really loved how the place is right on the ocean, beautiful sunrises each morning. The amenities are a bit dated and the floors could use a deep scrubbing but overall we very much enjoyed our stay. Loved the central island location and the Coconut Mall next door. I would visit again.

Very clean

Not the 9 rating I expected. Room smelled like mold and mildew. Broken parts on dryer and dishwasher. Low shower water pressure. Good mattress on bed. Comfortable couch hide a bed. Sheets were not comfortable and had hair in them from someone else. Close to ocean but no beach. Swimming pool is shallow. Nice restaurant on sight.

Staff were friendly and the room had everything you’d need to have a great stay. Only problem is the sound. The room above us must of had 1 or 2 little ones. You could hear they all day long as they ran across the floor.

Spacious rooms and excellent location.

We had a 1 bedroom unit for 4 persons and rollaway beds were not available.They offered a futon instead which was very uncomfortable. The property was well maintained and an excellent location.

This place was definitely older and needs major updates. Staff was nice. TV in 3210 in master has 3 lines on broken screen which was very annoying at night to watch any tv when it was raining. 3 sliding doors were rusty and some wouldnt even lock which did not give any peace to sleep. You could hear everyone walk in the hallway on the 3rd floor and the roosters sounded like they were in the room because the glass and walls so thin. Lanai's were sketchy and railings unsafe to touch. Pool was great. Shops and food nice and close.

The resort is beautiful. The location is halfway to all beaches of interest and activities. The beds and rooms are so comfortable. Slept like a baby! Staff were amazing. Can’t say enough of the beauty of this place.

We stayed 4 nights and had a great stay. It's more of a long term time-share resort, so no daily services but we were able to get everything we needed from housekeeping, etc. The other reviews were spot on, and the rooms are a bit dated but just fine. The resort location was great and we loved being on the coast. Having Coconut Marketplace nextdoor was great, and the central location was ideal for everything on the island. We'd definitely come back, especially because of the low cost compared to other options!

The balcony overlooking the ocean was incredible.

The conditions of the property weren’t that good: the toaster didn’t toast the bread nicely, it just warmed it up. Also the bed was very creaky, although the mattress was pretty comfy. Also, the doors dividing the kitchen/ first bedroom and the second bedroom at night sounded like someone was trying to break in because of the wind blowing against them. Overall, the condition of the room was 3.5 stars.

For the most part tha stay was great. The room has a 3 zone air conditioner. The zone for the master bedroom was inoperable. We were able to compensate for it by making the living room section much colder though.

For my short visit to the island the room was perfect. The staff were helpful, professional and addressed my needs in a timely manner. The facility was clean and welcoming. I enjoyed the amenities and the close location to the beach and Coconut Marketplace. Being in Kapa’a made visiting my family very easy. I will consider returning to Kauai Coast at the Beachboy.

The room was clean & spacious. We only stayed 2 nights. Unfortunately, our 1st night was full of loud drama for hours. I was putting my kid to bed when we heard two women hysterically screaming in hallway that they lost their kids. After the screaming went on for a long time, my kid got scared that there was a kidnapper (I assured her that the kids had probably just wandered off) but to reassure her, I texted the front desk. The front desk texted back shortly after to say that the children had been found and that it is just a misunderstanding. A while after that situation was resolved, more screaming ensued. A man & woman were fighting loudly with each other in the hallway outside our room. They were both very intoxicated. This went on for at least 30 minutes and finally I heard the man yell, "I guess I'm going back to jail!" and then it became silent finally (after what had now been two hours of screaming from differing parties, late at night, which made it impossible to sleep). The next day the pool was nice. However, the poolside bartender Tamera was a real downer. She kept talking out loud to an off-duty co-worker about how she "wanted out" and her vibe was depressing. She also acted offered when I said that there had been a lot of drama the night before (even though every other person at the bar instantly agreed that they had heard it all too). She was so unpleasant to interact with that we started walking to the market to buy drinks instead.

The staff was very friendly and immediately accommodated my late check out request upon arrival! They went above and beyond to insure my stay was pleasant:) I will definitely be returning and highly recommend!

Beautiful location and the sea view room was amazing. The room itself was huge with a comfortable bed and had everything we needed - though a tv with ability to cast would have been appreciated. We were a bit disappointed that there was no cleaning service during our stay as it felt more like an airbnb than a resort hotel. The staff we met were all pleasant but we did have to ask several times for a bed for my daughter when I had requested it upon booking. Also - what is the point of talking to the concierge for the wrist bands? It just made us more frustrated as again we tried about 3 times before we even got to speak to her. The pool area is nice and the grounds are well maintained. For what we paid it fell a little flat.

When we arrived there was an employee working in the bathroom. I presume that he was replacing the washer and dryer. I was a bit surprised to see him as we were not told at the desk when checking in that there were employees still in the room. This was at approximately 6:00 pm so it was 2 hrs after check in. We later found out the washer was not connected. When checking out the clerk gave us a discount which was appreciated. Otherwise the stay was fabulous. We enjoyed the views, the pool, and the friendly bartender!

I treated myself to a mini vaca. The service at the front desk, pool bar and housekeeping staff were awesome! The location allowed gorgeous views of the gardens as well as the ocean. The carpeting on the stairs and hallway are ages and warn. That was the only thing I felt needed attention. I’ll stay there again!’

its close to everything

This place was amazing and a great value for the location. The 2 BR was very spacious and had a great view of the ocean. The pool at the complex was also great.

Security was great. Nice, well maintained property. Everyone was friendly and the layout was easy. Plenty of parking. Rooms had nice layout. Clean, air-conditioned, dishwashers and washer and dryer. Would definitely recommend. Downfalls beach directly behind isn't good for swimming.

It was within walking distance to coconut marketplace. Everything I needed was very close by. Only thing we didn’t like was there were no elevators and the stairways could use some sweeping/cleaning.

My family and I had such a great time in Kauai. The condo we stayed was clean and spacious. There are walkable restaurants and shops. The beach is close by but not safe for young ones. I would recommend Lydgate Beach or the one towards the bridge where it’s protected for the little ones. We were able to use this as home base and drove around the island.

Great location.

Absolutely amazing. I could not recommend this place enough. My husband and I have stayed at several resorts, even all inclusive resorts, and this place exceeded our expectations. Quiet, safe, walkable to a lot of shops. ABC store right across the street. Lots of good & coffee places within walkable distance. Resort also has their own coffee daily and a 24/7 gift shop for smaller items. Beach you can swim at if you walk one minute on the walking path. Staff was excellent and helpful for all of our requests. Pool bar closes early, but it’s Kauai everything closed early. Central to both sides of the island so it’s about 40 minutes to popular destinations on both sides of island. Rooms are very spacious, and highly recommend booking one with the kitchen. Staff kept the grounds very clean.

We really loved the location. We were really happy with the kitchen amenities - it had everything we needed to cook from home. Pool bar was really chill and the restaurant was delicious! Overall, we would be happy to come back and stay here again.

We LOVED our 7 night stay at the Beach Boy Resort and can't wait to return. It was clean, affordable, beautiful, close to a great market area, and had a delicious restaurant for evening dining. It was exactly everything we wanted.

Absolutely loved this place! Beautiful landscaping! Loved watching the sunrise on the ocean every morning. Restraunt was so good we ate there twice even though it's on the expensive side. Would love to stay again!

Very nice room, pool, etc. Would have like to have rental bikes, and no one could help jump start a car, which seemed odd. Restaurant is expensive and has very limited hours, and pool bar has extremely limited choices, so we went off site for all meals.

Staff was great as well as the restaurant on premises was great. The resort was clean and well kept and the room was clean.

Wonderful stay. Great staff. Right on the beach. Amazing restaurant. Outstanding male bartender. Highly recommend
