Such a beautiful hotel check in process was lovely, rooms interconnecting as requested, staff so absolutely lovely. The pool area is flawless - massive choice of pools, lovely warm water, good food and drink choice round the pool. Also open 24 hours so we went for a starlit float down the lazy river which was magic. We ate at every restaurant - Russell in the main restaurant was the nicest guy ever and made it so special, we loved stevesons library, loved tidepools, loved all the shops - just perfect. Yes it’s expensive but worth it. Thank you for the most perfect end to our stay on your beautiful island.

Grand Hyatt is massive in size but well managed with attentive and friendly service. It's an exclusive resort, you don't see many guests, except for breakfast time. Gardens and pools are so beautiful, clean and well designed. (Adults pools near the outside bars, lazy river, jacuzzi, kids'pools, sea water lagoon, with a direct access to the Shipwreck beach. It's an ideal place for family, couples, seniors. There are some great dining options nearby (highly recommend to make an reservation in advance).

Absolutely beautiful property. The landscaping is overwhelming and in excellent condition. The pools are perfect and enormous. The beach is pretty but not for swimming. The hotel location is pretty much ideal, right near the Mahaulepu heritage trail, Poipu beach and Koloa.

The resort was exceptional. Beautiful setting, gorgeous landscaping, fabulous pools and salt water lagoon! All the staff were friendly, helpful and made you feel welcome from the moment we got there until the moment we left. We will certainly stay again if we have the chance.

Very large property, lots of options for swimming. Staff was very helpful and friendly despite a snafu with our reservation via Expedia. Breakfast buffet advance purchase is advised. Room was clean and comfortable with great streaming options to TV.

Stunning resort in an even more stunning location. Super expensive, so you just have to decide whether it’s worth the money or not. We stayed for 6 nights. Would likely only stay for 3 next time and split it up a little. Pros: - probably the best place on the island to stay. The island itself is hands down fabulous. - 5 min drive to a few nice restaurants like Brenneke’s, Keoki and Isola Cucina. - loved the lagoon. Nice to hear the ocean but still be in the resort. The whole pool area is really excellent from the fun lazy river to the lagoon. We are a family of four with a ten and twelve year old. The pool options were great for us. - pool waiting staff were really good, particularly Ian and Katelyn. - beds were really comfortable. All of us slept really well. Cons: - really over priced, particularly evening dinner options for families - room was okay. Nothing wrong with it but just needs upgrading, especially bathrooms. - no matter how many times we asked for shampoo and conditioner, they did not replace it. Not ideal when coming in from the beach. Gave up and bought some. Small things that were more an inconvenience, but definitely didn’t spoil our stay. Overall, we would definitely stay here again.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful grounds and pool, with exquisite landscaping and a heavenly salt water pool/lagoon! Clean, quiet room with comfortable beds and a terrific view (partial ocean). We enjoyed the nightly entertainment, 24 hr pool access, and our delicious meal at Tidepools restaurant. This was our second stay at the Grand Hyatt, and it was a wonderful experience. We look forward to returning again!

I stayed at a beautiful resort for three nights. There was a nice hiking trail just 3 minutes away from the resort with stunning views. I also rented a car to go on another hike and was blown away by the beautiful views. However, the bathroom in our room was the worst part of our stay. It had a terrible smell. I was also disappointed to find out that the ocean was not swim-able. I wish I had done more research. Without a car, it would have been difficult to get around.

The staff at the Hyatt was amazing. Atela, one of the front desk staff members, was welcoming and knowledgeable about the property when i checked in with my wife. After mentioning that I was celebrating my honeymoon, Atela asked if I wanted to celebrate with some cider or some champagne without skipping a beat. It was a very thoughtful gesture not only from her but from the hotel. Ben (from Minneapolis, MN) was awesome too when we checked out. He was able to chat with my wife and I about life in Hawaii briefly before we left. Now that we got all the good stuff out of the way, the reason I didn't enjoy my stay and why I scored an overall 4 stars was because the shower in the bathroom had a mildew smell when we arrived. Needless to say, the housekeeping staff or the managers really need to fix this issue because I had read comments on this prior to booking but, I didn't expect that this would be an issue for my wife and I. I was wrong. The unpleasant smell lasted the entire trip. Hopefully, this comment helps others in evaluating their choices when visiting Kauai

The grounds are beautiful, but the room was terrible. The room was very old and dirty (discoloration of bathroom floor, hairs that were not ours in bathroom, as well as bugs in bathroom). The grounds were beautiful, but because of how bad the room was we would not come back. Also, one of the restaurants was terrible and made me sick. The other dining options were good though.

The facility is very outdated and in need of maintenance and remodeling. Our room smelled like mold. Everything seemed worn out and run down. No snacks in room. No shower cap. Extremely long dark halls to walk through to find your drab room. Never again will I stay at a Hyatt!

The property is in need of some TLC. Repaint and repair in many areas. Rugs in hallways in need of replacement. Two areas that need improvement: 1. Friendliness of staff. I walked by countless number of workers around the property and not one made eye contact or said hello. 2. Room services dirty dishes being left outside rooms. They remained outside in the hallways we walked down for 12-24 hours.

There were some areas that needed upgrading, such as the carpet in the room was pretty old, etc. Service staff were very good. Entertainment was good. It’s a big resort with lots of stairs which could prove difficult for people with mobility issues. Over all though we had a great time and it was lovely.

This hotel is just gorgeous. We have stayed there twice. The pools are amazing and I loved the swings overlooking the ocean. Our room had a great oceanfront view and a double sink vanity which is huge with teenage children. Note: It is quite a walk to your room depending on which tower you are in. But the hotel is lovely overall- we didn’t think any of the dining options onsite were worth the cost though.

Our family stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Poipu for half our vacation and the other half at the Sheraton in Coconut Beach. Overall we preferred the Sheraton. At the Sheraton we had bigger and newer rooms, with a much better ocean view, at half the price. Sure, the grounds at the Grand Hyatt are nicer, and there are more pools, a slide, and a "lazy river". But the place is just too big. It takes too long to get to your room, the pools, your car. Making it less relaxing and more of a planned chore. The Sheraton felt more "intimate" and relaxed. The ocean is way closer to the rooms, so you get the nice breezes and sound of the waves. They don't charge you for every little thing the Grand Hyatt does. The food was better. Lastly, there was a notable difference in the staff. Except the person who checked us in, almost every other staff member we ran into at the Grand Hyatt seemed unhappy to be working there. At the Sheraton, they all seemed to be working together like a family. Laughing and enjoying their job, which was confirmed by the multiple ones we asked. Our server, Kaisha, at The Crooked Surf was excellent.

Pros: Pools and beaches were nearly pristine; the ocean view from the room was spectacular; room was spacious and buffered neighbors’ noise relatively well; quality of the food and beverages was good; pools are open 24/7. Cons: The room was dated and showing signs of age; eating options were limited - of the few restaurants, one was booked for 5 weeks out; very limited options offered for activities with respect to other Kauai resorts.

Lovely property. The staff are excellent, helpful, accommodating. In room dining is very good (excellent for the majority of our meals). The views are stunning. The bathrooms are very nice - could probably use an update one day soon, but not bad. I would definitely come here again - this resort is tough to beat.

Had a partial Ocean View that was amazing. Room with spacious and well set up. Staff was very helpful with everything we asked for

Stunning resort in an even more stunning location. Super expensive, so you just have to decide whether it’s worth the money or not. We stayed for 6 nights. Would likely only stay for 3 next time and split it up a little. Pros: - probably the best place on the island to stay. The island itself is hands down fabulous. - 5 min drive to a few nice restaurants like Brenneke’s, Keoki and Isola Cucina. - loved the lagoon. Nice to hear the ocean but still be in the resort. The whole pool area is really excellent from the fun lazy river to the lagoon. We are a family of four with a ten and twelve year old. The pool options were great for us. - pool waiting staff were really good, particularly Ian and Katelyn. - beds were really comfortable. All of us slept really well. Cons: - really over priced, particularly evening dinner options for families - room was okay. Nothing wrong with it but just needs upgrading, especially bathrooms. - no matter how many times we asked for shampoo and conditioner, they did not replace it. Not ideal when coming in from the beach. Gave up and bought some. Small things that were more an inconvenience, but definitely didn’t spoil our stay. Overall, we would definitely stay here again.

The property, grounds, pools, were all so beautiful and well maintained. The view from our lanai of the ocean and grounds were really gorgeous. The room was comfortable, quiet and clean. The res I would say the only ortdrawback would be inconsistent service. My 5yo daughter loved feeding the Koi at Tidepools and the Macaws in the atrium off the lobby, along with the great lagoon and pools! We may stay here again when staying in poipu,but hope they work on enhancing the service.

The resort was nice and had all the amenities you would expect. The concierge, however, led us astray. We booked an expensive boat ride, and the concierge told us breakfast and lunch would be served and even took our lunch orders. Neither meal was served and our party (including children) was uncomfortable and hungry.

I can’t speak highly enough about this hotel. It was excellent in every way. This is a hotel that is luxurious in its amenities and accommodations but also one that is personable and inviting. Staff go out of their way to be helpful and the vibe is accepting. The pool area is exceptional and there are plenty of dining options both on site and nearby. The concierge was able to get us on tours and adventures that I was not able to book online. We will be back!

The property is in need of some TLC. Repaint and repair in many areas. Rugs in hallways in need of replacement. Two areas that need improvement: 1. Friendliness of staff. I walked by countless number of workers around the property and not one made eye contact or said hello. 2. Room services dirty dishes being left outside rooms. Staff from the front desk to the sundries store were NOT customer service stars at all, there was an undertone of job misery throughout, which is terrible to be around. I would also say that, while billed (and billed $$) as a luxury resort, this Grand Hyatt needs to do better - everything from the door to our room to the poolside chairs need some updating - it’s getting a little old/tattered. This is basically a cruise ship on land and anything besides ice and water were extra charges - FYI. Breakfast buffet was really good with so many options besides just “breakfast food”. The resort is family friendly which is great, but lots of babies and little kids through out all pools (including the “adult” pool). Overall this place doesn’t live up to expectations or price - just being honest. Kauai and it’s weather and scenery were certainly 5 stars though!

Our first floor, ocean & garden view was delightful. We could see the Luau from our lanai. We enjoyed meals at Ilima Terrace (Eugene & Tom or Tim? were great!), also meala at Stevenson's Library, poolside, and, best of all, Tidepools (where Clark & Ridge served us wonderfully). Ben at the front desk helped us so often, too. The complimentary champagne (celebrating our 50th) was so lovely! Mahalo. I enjoyed hula lessons and lei making with Moani so very much. I was sad that the Hawaiian history & culture movie was cancelled but that was my only disappointment. Having the sunrise walk cancelled was not a problem; I took my own walk alone...very peaceful. Poolside for me is heaven on earth. Thank you (and everyone else) so much for making this place my eternal "happy place."

I stayed at a beautiful resort for three nights. There was a nice hiking trail just 3 minutes away from the resort with stunning views. I also rented a car to go on another hike and was blown away by the beautiful views. However, the bathroom in our room was the worst part of our stay. It had a terrible smell. I was also disappointed to find out that the ocean was not swim-able. I wish I had done more research. Without a car, it would have been difficult to get around.

Showed up in November around Thanksgiving and the weather is perfect and everything Is still open and lots to do. The Grand Hyatt truly is a wonderful vacation spot with lots of swimming, lots of ocean and easy access to multiple locations from the resort.

Absolutely beautiful property. The landscaping is overwhelming and in excellent condition. The pools are perfect and enormous. The beach is pretty but not for swimming. The hotel location is pretty much ideal, right near the Mahaulepu heritage trail, Poipu beach and Koloa.

The Hyatt property is beautiful! The pools are amazing, but the restaurants are limited and not kid friendly. The view terrace restaurant was horrible! My husband and I sent our food back it was so bad and the service was awful. We were very disappointed in how rude all the food staff was to us. The Hyatt staff was kind and friendly though. The beach front is great, but too rocky and waves to go in it. I don’t think we’ll stay here again.

The facility, location and staff are great. A really enjoyable resort to stay. Would return. Only disappointment is that some of the prices for meals, like the breakfast buffet, are unjustifiable and have the flavour of price gouging.

This hotel is just gorgeous. We have stayed there twice. The pools are amazing and I loved the swings overlooking the ocean. Our room had a great oceanfront view and a double sink vanity which is huge with teenage children. Note: It is quite a walk to your room depending on which tower you are in. But the hotel is lovely overall- we didn’t think any of the dining options onsite were worth the cost though.

The property was gorgeous and I loved everything about my stay except the food. The buffet breakfasts were the best. The Tidepool restaurant was a great disappointment; expensive and the food selection was not great. The other restaurant's food selections were too similar, not enough variety. Staff were wonderful and very helpful.

Great resort - the rooms, common areas, outside areas, service, activities. Fantastic. Everything was top notch other than the food - the sushi place, in particular, needs to use stickier rice and improve their offerings. We found better dining options outside the resort. Beautiful property and great for kids. The only problem is the cost. They charge you for everything, and I mean everything. For a property of this caliber, I expect to have more included in the $65 daily resort fee. Also, the best restaurant for kids closes at 5:30 pm, so you have to watch the time.

This is an amazing property (staff, location, amenities), but the food and beverage quality is sorely lacking. Overall: Every drink is at least $16. Mind you, this is a no-frills mixed drink marketed as a cocktail. I use the word "cocktail" here very loosely. I guess this is to be expected; you're on an island. Seaview Terrace: Food was served on plastic plates (unclear why; it's nowhere near the pool) and was served lukewarm. Ilima Terrace (breakfast buffet): $52 per person and everything's cold (you may start to see a pattern here). Weirdly, specialty coffees (like cappuccinos) are limited to 1 per person. Salmon Wellington was not. I guess the margin is made on the coffee? Stevenson's Library: No risk of cold food here ('cause sushi). We’re used to Grand Velas and their top sites. But this Grand Hyatt is right there as a top resort. The pools are the best we’ve seen. No issues. Seeing the parrots each day was a plus. And the on site restaurants were very good too. Our only advice. If you get an Uber to the resort, keep your driver’s cell number and schedule your rides and pay them cash. Otherwise getting rides to and from the resort can be very difficult. We were almost stranded in Lihue one time.
We’re used to Grand Velas and their top sites. But this Grand Hyatt is right there as a top resort. The pools are the best we’ve seen. No issues. Seeing the parrots each day was a plus. And the on site restaurants were very good too. Our only advice. If you get an Uber to the resort, keep your driver’s cell number and schedule your rides and pay them cash. Otherwise getting rides to and from the resort can be very difficult. We were almost stranded in Lihue one time.
