Only issue for us was parking

Our second stay at The Ship. We had a cosy double which was comfortable although quite small for 2 adults and a dog for 3 nights - next time I would book a larger room. Very dog friendly - our dog was very welcomed by all. Service was good and we were well looked after with our favourite table reserved for us in front of the fire. Bathroom was a little dated although clean, and the shower tray did not drain quickly and became a bit blocked (although in fairness we did not raise this to housekeeping to get it fixed). The room was quite warm and overnight did get a bit stuffy - on Saturday night it wasn't an option to have the window open due to some outside pub seats below our window which did mean some noise during open hours. Housekeeping were absolutely lovely and let us have a slightly flexible check out on our last day as my husband's work call ran over (they also put off hoovering the pub until his call was finished). Lovely location and a short walk to the cafes, pubs and shops of Rye. Parking is not included and nearest car park The Strand is £7.30 a day or £4.30 for 4 hours (8am to 7pm every day) - you can buy/top up on Ring-go so don't have to go down each morning at 8am. Free on street parking on Sunday.

Great location in Rye. Staff friendly. Nice room. No parking (although entry on Expedia site says there is). No chair in room.

Excellent breakfast, friendly staff. Two flights of fairly steep stairs, not a problem for us but maybe difficult for some people.

Everything is great, walking distance to everything. Parking not super easy given the limited spaces available around the property, and you have to pay for it - around 8 pounds a day.

Excellent stay , hotel is clean and staff are excellent. Only issue is it shows on Hotels.com free parking but it’s not got a car park therefore you pay to park on the street or car park unless it’s a Sunday

Rooms are well-appointed, very clean and have tea and coffee-making facilities. Due to the age of the building it is not air conditioned so can get hot on a warm night, although the hotel supplies fans.

Conveniently located at the foot of Mermaid Street, the street you are coming to Rye for if you are a tourist, the Ship Inn is a great place to stay when visiting this charming old town. We had a wonderful Family room with two bedrooms and a beautiful bathroom. Staff was friendly and we felt very comfortable.They have a lovely dinner menu, and if you are staying for a longer time, there is a little Italian restaurant right next door for variety and another dining option. The only quirk is that if you are driving, you have to park in the park and display next to the hotel. It's free overnight. So you need to pay again in the morning or there is an option to purchase parking for the next day. A minor hassle for such a nice place to stay , though.

Likes: Conveniently located to high street. Staff were most pleasent. Nice bar/pub. Dislikes: Room could do with a chair. No on site parking at the Ship Inn itself, but near by public car parks.

We had a couple comfortable nights stay at The Ship Inn. The room was very spacious and clean. The bed was a little too soft for us, but that's just our own personal preference. Food in the restaurant was amazing with friendly staff and prompt customer service.

We were welcomed by a lovely hostess who showed us to our room. The room was comfortable, clean and spacious- with everything we needed for a nights stay. We had breakfast the next morning, which was hot, fresh and tasty. The only minor criticism was the hostess serving breakfast. She appeared sullen and was less than welcoming. Once our breakfast was delivered she did not return once to see if we wanted anything else. A little bit of a let down. We had late checkout, meeting with Helen the Head Housekeeper- who was incredibly helpful and friendly.

Lovely hotel in pub. Friendly staff. Nice room, fun decor. Clean bathroom. Real coffee in the room. Pub has nice selection drinks.

Room was immaculate and breakfast was really enjoyable. The ship inn was also in a great location with nearby parking.

I wish I had liked this inn more. When my train was delayed by a few hours, they willingly accommodated a late check-in. However, I was disappointed by the room. First, there is mildew in the shower. Second, they left the service door next to my room open to facilitate housekeeping, but that meant that all the cooking smells from the kitchen below entered my room. Because the windows can’t be opened more than a few inches, there was no way to air the room. I had to clean the fan before I could use it since it was furry with dust. I loved Rye, but not this inn.

Flawless. We loved our stay at The Ship Inn and I strongly recommend it for any stay in Rye. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of town. The pub is beautiful and historic and the room itself modern and faultlessly clean. Some little details I really appreciated: tea and coffee and kettle in the room (with oat milk sachets!), a deep bath, tv, desk fan and a very comfy, spacious bed. 10/10

Situated in a good position within walking distance off all the Town's attractions. Excellent Breakfasts, set you up for the day. The room was clean and comfortable with good en-suite bathroom, with shower. Would use again on next visit.

Room spotless

Room: Luke's Tree - very pretty decorated room - huge bed - lovely French rattan style - good location - by river, accessible by foot to rest of Rye - cheaper prices than most other B&B's/ Hotels - nice friendly staff - good comms from hotel before booking - Good TV with Netflix app Cons (some nit-picking but worth mentioning) - very warm room overnight - there was a desk fan in the room which is usually a sign of a place knowing the room gets too hot (no built in air-con) . The old-fashions sash windows do open but the noise from the street traffic made it too annoying to leave open in the end. - no luggage rack to unpack in room, used bed in end - only 1 double socket accessible in room. Another was hidden behind bed. - hooks in room were hung above the hospitality console table so could only use one hook for jacket or other clothes would have been draped over the tea/kettle etc. - bathroom roller blind - missing beaded chain cord to raise/ lower - room was beside the hallway entrance/ stairwell so noisy with guests coming/going at all hours late and in morning so not very peaceful nights sleep. - random noises in night - maybe plumbing/ pipes or machinery/ facilities but woke suddenly a few time to noises. Bad nights sleep. - large gap under door so had hallway light creeping in at night and probably adds to noise heard. I covered gap with blanket in end. - Very thin walls - next door guests stumbled in around midnight and proceeded to chat/ plug in things

Good standard bedrooms in the pub, small but well finished rooms.

Lovely stay on New Year’s Day after working the whole of Christmas. Staff were friendly and professional. Room was lovely and spacious with a comfortable bed and powerful shower. Informative booklet about the winery behind the pub in rooms with useful information about local walks etc. no problems at all

Really lovely suite. Good pub food and brilliant staff. Recommended if a family needs to stay in one room in Rye. Only negative wansa little pub noise in the evening but absolutely to be expected

The room had a kitchen extract running within the floor below and it was incredibly noisy. Creaking plumbing and slamming doors. Needs building mechanics upgrading

Lovely shabby chic building and style. Good quality room, we had a nice stay! Where does it lose a mark? Pillows were waaaay too soft & breakfast although hearty, over cooked, burnt toast - such a shame. Tidy those points up, and it would be full marks! 😃

Very positive experience. Staff were welcoming, friendly and made me feel at home from the moment that I walked in. I called beforehand to check on something and they were really helpful. The room was pleasantly decorated, nice big tv, very clean and well appointed, with tea, coffee and bottled water. Central location. Dog friendly establishment. This is somewhere that I would definitely recommend and will return to when I'm the area.

The room was fine except the bathroom sink light didn't work which I reported but they did nothing. Dinner was OK but service VERY brusque and eating elsewhere in Rye much better. Had the cheek to add 10%for service As for breakfasts then abysmal ! NO cereals and poached eggs on a bun - little choice and VERY expensive for anyone visiting - better to breakfast elsewhere -they are clearly not interested.

Beautiful old Inn in a perfect location for exploring historic Rye. Very comfortable room. Comfortable bed, fluffy pillows and luxury touches such as quality toiletries, Nespresso machine with quality coffee pods and selection of up market teas. Delicious breakfast included. Great value for money for this area. We would certainly stay here again. Very nice food and great drinks selection including good cask ales. Cheap car parking not far away as well as Rye Station 5 minutes walk away.

The room itself was nice, but the restaurant experience was confusing and frustrating. Service is inconsistent—one side of the restaurant has table service, the other doesn’t, but this wasn’t explained until after we sat down. No food between 10 AM and noon, which was unexpected and inconvenient. The menu tries to be super fancy with dishes that are meant to be comforting, which felt a bit misleading. Ordered carrot soup three times, and it never came—at least they didn’t charge for it. Loved the cider! Overall, the stay was fine, but the restaurant could use clearer communication and better service.

Excellent stay. Staff, food and atmosphere were super. Charlie and the ladies made us feel very welcome and took great care of us.

Great hotel / Pub, room was lovely and very friendly staff. Parking just around the corner and in a great location just a short walk to the high street. Would certainly stay again.

We enjoyed staying at The Ship as it was not far to walk to train station and hosted several performances as part of the Rye Jazz & Blues Festival. We dropped our luggage off to check other gig locations and returned for lunch. Their Sunday Roast was delicious, accompanied with Yorkshire Puddings, roast veg and gravy and a good chpice of locally produced wines and beer. The staff were friendly, knowledgable and efficient and I'd definitely stay there again.

Rooms were extremely hot due to the weather. We were supplied a fan which helped, but if they had a small A/C unit it would have been a more enjoyable stay. Downside was the kitchen ran out of food at 8.30pm so we had to seek dinner elsewhere.

Lovely place to stay . Very welcoming and dog friendly . The food was really good , we had dinner in the eve and the complimentary breakfast was perfect also . Our dog loved it too . Great location also . There is parking next to hotel but we didn’t realise until after we had parked over the road at the strand which was 24 hours for about £4. I believe it was up to 23 hrs by the hotel but only a few spaces and more expensive more like £7 for anything over 4 hours .
