Great stay at this location on W 40st. We arrived late around midnight. Check in was quick and easy. Attendant was ok but we received no information about the hotel/facilities. She only asked us to sign credit card form. Nothing else uttered. Spacious room. Not tiny box as some other NYC hotel rooms. No foul odors. Clean. Were a few soap scum stains within shower grout. Bleach may help with that, but overall very clean. The toilet is very low, just as other reviewers stated. There is a full shower door in our room on 10th floor. So the shower did not have a half door as others stated. Fridge was helpful to keep our food/drinks. We used microwave in lobby to warm leftovers. The toilet clogged once and engineering came within 15mins. Location is great! Towards left is Bryant park, turn right is Times Square/Theater district. We did not use their restaurant. Laundry washer and dryer was great, $3 each if i remember correctly. We felt safe night or day. But its NYC so be cautious. Bed was comfortable. Heat worked perfectly and kept us warm in January weather. Housekeeping did a great job cleaning our room. Door men were friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay again if the price is right!

This hotel was old, but clean, and there was no smell in the room. My family stayed for 4 nights and we could sleep in a pleasant room every day. The location is also a big advantage of this hotel. The only bad thing was that there was a lot of lint on the towel and it got on my body after wiping. Overall, I was satisfied. Oh, one more thing to watch out for is the parking fee. The hotel staff introduced us to a parking lot nearby, and guests at this hotel can get a discount. But it cost more than we expected. Be prepared if your car is suv.

We had a pleasant stay overall—the location is excellent, and the staff was friendly and helpful. However, we did experience a couple of inconveniences. The AC in our room occasionally stopped working during the night, which made it uncomfortable at times. Also, one of the elevators broke down twice during our stay, causing longer wait times since only one was operational. Still, aside from these issues, the hotel served us well for our trip.

Stayed for the weekend and overall enjoyed our stay. Clean property, comfortable beds and pillows. Room is small but to be expected in NYC. Bathroom doors don’t have a lock and the shower/tub combo only has a half glass stationary partition (no shower curtain or sliding glass door) so the floor gets wet. Breakfast options were limited but good, reasonably priced and available until noon. Parking is a couple blocks away but you can park in front of hotel to check in and drop your bags off.

The hallway outside our room always smelled musty and like dirty feet. The room smelled damp at first but wasn’t too bad once we went “nose blind” to it. A pair of dirty mens y-front underwear was stuck to the ironing board. Disgusting. One day only one of our beds was made up by housekeeping, the other completely ignored. No shampoo in the bottle on the wall in the shower which wax something I didn’t notice until I was in there with my hair soaking and it was too late to do anything about it. My daughter had a book shipped to the hotel, it was signed for by “Karen” at front desk but never materialized in the room or anywhere. Our asking about it seemed to merely frustrate them so we walked away from the situation with it being unresolved. Cheap enough for downtown and the position close to Bryant park was great. But I’d pay a little more for something not so dingy or with smell/ housekeeping issues. Front desk staff were friendly.

The shower had hair in it upon arrival. The boxing around the bed is dated, the bathroom door is ridiculously heavy and the room was too warm despite having the a/c on at 63 degrees. The closet and refrigerator area is so worn out. The bathrooms need vents, the room is too musty after a shower.

Rooms had heavy smell of mold upon staying found spot with heavy mold had two rooms and made staff aware and was put into new rooms but also found mold was n those rooms brought it up to management with emails and pictures never received any response back poor customer service.

The Courtyard New York Manhattan/Times Square is a well-located hotel right on the edge of Times Square. I traveled alone to the city in conjunction with a business trip. Walking around at all times of morning, afternoon, evening through to midnight, I felt safe (though like any person traveling alone in New York, I encourage cautioun and awareness of surroundings). The subway is right at the end of the block where the hotel is. The people who work in the hotel were uniformly professional, helpful, and kind. The room was clean (the entire hotel was clean) and much more spacious than other hotels whose rooms I considered for my stay in NYC. The bed was firm but not hard, which was perfect for me. The city noise, which is continual in NYC, did not permeate the room. The room contained plenty of towels, especially for a solo traveler, and I did not need to use housekeeping during my 2-1/2 day stay. The room contained a refrigerator and a Keurig machine. The only slightly inconvenient aspect of the hotel was that the ice machine was on the Lower Level of the hotel rather than on my floor or a floor nearer my room. It was not a hardship, though. I really recommend the Courtyard New York Manhattan/Times Square. It's not a luxury hotel, but when you're in NYC, you're not usually spending a lot of time in your hotel room. For visitors who are interested in a conveniently located hotel that is clean, well-managed, and comfortable, this is an excellent choice.

The location is phenomenal and we had a lovely stay until on the morning of our checkout we found an enormous cockroach in the bathroom. Made me horrified our bags were left open over night and we might find a nasty surprise when unpacking.

It was really close to everything and had quick access to the subway and grand central station. The employees were all very polite and professional. My only complaint was the room itself was not in great condition. The bathroom was dated and it was obvious they had done a lot of parches and repairs to water damage. The sliding door to the bathroom was peeling so you could see the flakes at the bottom of the bathroom flooor. The carpet was frayed and was in need of replacement. The beds and the cleanliness of the room was good, it just needs to be updated. But the trade off is that you are near everything and realistically you're not in the room the majority if the time. I would definitely visit again. We stayed on the 7th floor, I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

We stayed for 3 nights and had a great time. The room was larger than I was expecting for a NYC hotel room. Very convenient to hop on the subway. Would definitely stay here again. The room with the view of the Empire State Building was great!

I find the location of this hotel great for our family: a few minutes walk to the Grand Central Station and subway stations, to One Vanderbilt, Chrysler Tower, Fifth Avenue shops & Bryant Park, to Times Square & the theatres, to Macy's and Empire State Building and to Korea Town. We were upgraded to a room with the Empire State Building. Thanks to the management. We were initially given a room with a ridiculous partial view of the iconic building. I then requested if we could get a room with the full view of the Empire State and we were gladly transferred. I was so happy and thankful. However, some minor issues were: AC was not working properly in our room. Even if we set it to our ideal temp of 68F it would not set to the lower temp and would always set back to the warmer mid 70s. We did not report this in our two nights stay (other night was booked direct with the hotel and not with hotels.com) as we thought it would adjust overnight but it did not. Also at night we could hear the thumping bass sound of a night club for hours from the 31st floor! I am a light sleeper so it was an inconvenience for me. I emailed the GM about this issue but I did not get any reply. Despite the minor issues, I would still recommend this hotel as it is a gem just next to Bryant Park.

This hotel is in an excellent location and is very walkable to area attractions. It is totally acceptable and our stay here was good. Our room was adequate. We did find someone else’s dirty socks in our room and our air conditioning didn’t work. It got really stuffy in our room so we had to open our window for some fresh air. Also, the shower configuration is a little weird and we got water on the floor. The shower head points straight at the glass door. Anyway, it was not a bad stay at all. Just a few little things. We felt safe here and it was a perfect location for us. The price was also reasonable for the location.

First, let me say the hotel is beautiful, in a great location, and the front desk staff were pleasant. However…. The air conditioning on our floor didn’t work from the time we checked in and it still didn’t work 4 days later when we checked out. The city is experiencing a heat wave, and they knew the AC was out, yet they were willing to charge full price for 4 nights. We informed the front desk and management, who sent a maintenance man who did some work in the room and declared it fixed, but it wasn’t. They told us they’d comp the stay, then they said they’d comp half the stay. In the end, they comped 1 night, meaning they were happy to charge us full price for 3 nights with no AC in the room. They told us housekeeping would send up a portable fan, yet 6 hours later it hadn’t arrived. The next day we asked about it and were told it was delivered. When the housekeeper was asked, she admitted taking it to the wrong room, claiming the hotel had changed the room numbers on the doors and she got confused. Even with a portable fan, the room was 80 degrees or more at night. Several front desk staff were informed, and they were trying to be helpful, but the management dropped the ball. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel, and had I known the AC wasn’t working and they were going to charge me for 3 nights while doing nothing to fix the issue, I never would’ve stayed here.

Furqhan was polite, friendly, and check-in was fast. No long conversations. Not overly friendly, smile was genuine, was not curt, perfect for reception area. I swear a lot of hotels do not make an effort to hire the right people sometimes and it’s a surprise when they do. This time, they did great! Hire more poeple like him!

Housekeeping was kind and very helpful. Most of the front desk employees were kind and helpful, with one exception. I was traveling with family, but had reserved an extra night in the hotel, so I could see two more Broadway musicals. I spoke to a helpful young man at the front desk about the logistics of switching rooms, a couple days before. He assured me that I wouldn’t have to switch rooms, confirmed my reservation, and told me I would just need to provide a credit card for incidentals and get new key cards for the room. When I followed his directions, Linda, the front desk employee was rude and condescending. She spoke to me like I was a stupid, annoying cockroach. I don’t know if Linda speaks to all baby boomers that way, but it was very disturbing. Perhaps the general manager of the hotel needs to provide kindness and empathy training for the front desk staff, like they do at the cancer center where I’m currently receiving treatment.

The room was dirty, dust in several places and the water from the coffee maker was dirty. There was even a forgotten wine from someone else who was in place before me. I paid for breakfast but they couldn't explain to me how it worked and I left without taking it. I expected more for the amount I paid. I just have nothing to complain about the check-in service, which was great.

The hotel provided us a great base for our holiday to explore. Very clean and the reception staff were super helpful. The cleaning staff were brilliant and our room was cleaned daily. The only negative I had was the staff in the kitchen area were not the most helpful and rather rude when asked a questions Otherwise our stay was fantastic and we would stay again!

I enjoyed my staff. The hotel is around the corner from my office so it is super convenient. The Starbucks in the lobby was very convenient. I grabbed coffee, yogurt and fruit in the morning. Offering an egg white wrap would be a nice edition to the menu. The guy at the front desk was extremely nice when I came down requesting a room not close to the elevator. He quickly changed my room and followed with my in the morning when I checked out. I wish I remembered his name because he was remarkable.
