The Emperor wears no clothes. For the price, one can expect a lot. A luxurious experience in the proximity to lake Toya, views over mt Yotei. To some degree this is true. The view is simply magnificent, however, and the hotel makes so that almost every room has a view over the mountain and lake. Yet, this does not compensate for the faults at hand. I came here for two days as a solo traveller. Initially, the first experience is with workers who know english quite well. However, that could be quite impolite, rather wanting to treat other customers that they belive more priveleaged. The room itself at first glance was marvelous, but looking closer, it is decayed. One pillow in the bed, and it did not support the neck. Two armchairs, but both quite frayed. And it did not take long until you could hear the neighbours. I sleept with earplugs in, as to cancel out the noise of the tv in the next room over. On their website it talks prominantly about how they smoke their own meat, and make their own cheese. Neither of theese make an apperance on the breakfast table. For a very large breakfast, it did not include that much variety and speciality, but rather felt like what they could do. The hotel includes no coffee, even if there is a coffee shop attached. You can use a swimming pool, but the equipment must be rented. The entire experience, feels for paying a lot for location, but not for the luxurious hotel that it presents itself, that costs more.
