I liked the parking and onsite EV charging and nearby Loch for a nice walk weather permitting. It was also to get into Glasgow and or Edinburgh. The hotel is showing its age and could do with some refurbishment but overall good experience. They did try to charge me again although had paid Expedia in advance.

Lovely hotel with a beautiful breakfast. Hotel has nice bar in reception. Also across the street from a park with beautiful trail for a nice walk. Attached to a fun center for family fun and more food options Will stay again when in the area

Very nice hotel and the guy on reception was very helpful. Buffet breakfast is good and the rooms are well maintained. Only issue was that there was a wedding reception taking place. Loads of noise until after midnight.

Magic for a family wedding and I have hosted business functions here before too. Downstairs is a wonderful space for up to 50 for dinner and many more for a buffet. All our guests loved it and it surpassed our expectations.

We received a warm and helpful welcome on arrival, and were kindly informed that there was a wedding taking place at the hotel that evening and that it may be a bit noisy - needless to say we didn't hear a thing! Our room was spacious and clean, beds were comfy and bathroom was spotless. Great view of the grounds and loch. Breakfast buffet was delicious and fresh, and again staff were lovely, same goes for when we checked out. We will definitely stay again as we want to come back and do more in the area during the summer :)

Arrived at 9pm as we were stopping over having just come off holiday. I have stayed in this hotel over 12 times and never been asked for my credit card before, having been defrauded by at least a couple of hotels I was very reluctant. There was a function on that ended at 12.30am which meant there was no sleep till after that time. I like this hotel but on this occasion I was not impressed

I have stayed in the Alona over a dozen times and this will probably be my last. First of all the room which was supposed to be deluxe hadn’t been cleaned properly ,there was no plug in the bath. They charged me the amount for my stay and when I left told me it was payment for one night although the receipt said two, so had to pay again. The prices have really shot up but unfortunately the standard has remained pretty low

Good location friendly staff Carpets need a clean, lots of stains in corridor & bedroom Tables in breakfast room get a spray with crumbs/ food bits still on table, then crumbs etc get wiped onto floor Coach party arrived and bus reversed up to our bedroom window, didn’t appreciate the driver sitting with the engine running at 7.15am

Overall it's ok - but I personally wouldn't go back. Room felt grubby. There were dead insects on the blind - I complained, moved to another room, but it was the same. On taking a shower, there was a really bad drainage smell. Breakfast had variety but there was a lot of grease.

Really enjoyed our stay at Alona Hotel for what was a last minute booking. Staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again with Bellshill Train Station a 5 min drive away with plenty of parking available there to enjoy the train into Glasgow. We only had a couple of minor issues with our room. Firstly, the outside windows of our room (309) were very dirty and could do with a clean. Lastly, the rainfall shower head wasn't working although the handheld shower was. The water tended to gather at the bottom of the shower which made it very wet but minor complaints really.

Not sure how this is a 4* hotel. It was filthy. Stains on the furniture and bedding. The camp bed wasn’t set up for my toddler. The only nice thing was the buffet breakfast but you are limited for choice.

We booked a Superior Double Room as our first stop over on a road trip around Scotland. The hotel is conveniently located just off the motorway and in the Strathclyde Country Park with free parking. Our allocated ground floor room was large, clean, modern and comfortable. The breakfast the next day was a Full Scottish cooked buffet style breakfast which, although plentiful, was disappointingly rather cold. Overall we were happy with the Alona Hotel as a reasonably priced accommodation for a one night stay.

Staff were very polite. Rooms very hot, only way for ventilation was opening windows but there was a notice on unit saying not to open due to flies. Room should have slept 4 the sofa bed could only sleep 1 and was VERY u comfortable. We went down for breakfast and there was hardly anything left as a bus load of indians had got there before us. I asked staff for a yogurt but they had run out. Very noisy outside through the night therefore i had to sleep in my car for a few hours.

Staff were great, particularly Gary on the front desk. Room was lovely and big, but window didn’t open and it was very hot! Breakfast was very busy and a little disappointing. Don’t think there was enough staff on to keep everything topped up and clean - hotel fully booked for the Royal Highland Show but they must have been aware this would be an issue

We had a lovely 2 night stay at the property. The room was spacious and , bathroom clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant and both were very good. The staff were amazing, extremely helpful and Gary the Reception Supervisor was 5 star in service. I broke my ankle earlier on the day we arrived and he did everything possible to make me comfortable during our stay. Well deserved recognition for service excellence.

No fridge in room. No food available after 9pm. No one at reception after 9pm and no night porter available. I had to struggle from car park with a suitcase and two flight bags . When I told the receptionist I had luggage she informed me “ There was a lift” No help offered. The bed felt as if the mattress was full of rocks. Very poor customer service.

Room good apart from temperamental television. Unfortunately food in restaurant poor. Ordered a vegetable and rice dish. Vegetables turned out to be deep fried in batter and covered with salt. So everything being deep fried in Scotland is not a joke. Staff very nice and offered alternative which was chicken potato and two veg. More works canteen than 4 star hotel. To my surprise they didn’t charge me which suggests that they know that the food isn’t very good

Room was spacious and clean but tired. Roast dinner was served cold - clearly reheated from the lunch leftovers. Stale scone substituted for the mini pavlova ordered as part of a trio of mini deserts.

We booked into a wheelchair accessible room as I had my severely disabled daughter with me. The doors are so narrow we just fitted and no more (she doesn’t have a wide wheelchair. Room was a good size and well laid out. Breakfast had a good selection of food. The hot food however was quite dried up and the tomatoes & mushrooms looked awful. Fresh fruit, yogurt, Danish pastries were all fresh.

Our stay was just one night. The hotel is large, with a huge reception area, a bit like a shopping mall. The staff were pleasant, but seemed worn out, perhaps because it was late at night. A single coffee machine was insufficient to cope with breakfast diners
