Statham Lodge Hotel

Lovely grounds, nice styling to the hotel with comfy sofas and shabby chic A bit worn in places Lovely staff and delicious breakfast with all variations- cooked, fresh cut fruit, fresh toast, very good quality pastries all to order Comfy bed and numerous pillows VERY powerful shower! Had to turn it down Just small negatives- near the M6 is very convenient but of course you can hear it outside!! Curtain barely covers the window No hairdryer ( haven’t asked at reception as brought my own just in case) Would come again!

Stains on carpet in room and decor needs a ‘refresh’ paint but overall fine. Large comfy bed but couldn’t get radiator to get warm and duvet a bit thin now it’s going cooler. Tv fine. WiFi good. Kettle getting old and needs replacing. Basic tea/coffee/milk provided. Plenty of parking. Breakfast fine but in a ‘cold’ room. Pleasant staff. Shower very powerful .

Friendly and informative welcome. Setting was excellent (gardens superb). Food was very good, I had both dinner and breakfast Room had been recently freshened and eas very comfortable of note was the excellent shower. Only thing missing (it was very hot at the time of review) was a/c but I was aware that the hotel rooms didn't have this when I booked.

Lovely hotel in beautiful grounds and well kept gardens with outdoor seating with tables. Rooms light and bright, large comfortable bed, bath, shower everything that you need. Decor throughout hotel was excellent with dining area for evening meal with good choice of menu. Breakfast room was light and airy with pleasant views to the gardens. Staff always seemed very pleasant and helpful, rooms cleaned and fresh towels and bed linen. An enjoyable stay.

Hotel decor was good, food in the bar was nice and good value. Rooms have no air con and stayed on 1st floors where windows have safety stop so unable to open them more than an inch. No fans in room so I might as well of slept in an oven. Really bad in hot weather…

We were staying for a wedding on site so booked as it was convenient. Booked and paid online including breakfast. We arranged for an early check in for 1pm and was told £30. We arrived about 1.35pm and our room wasn't ready, despite us paying, which turned out to be £20. Our friends called to arrange the same and were told it was free and could go even earlier from 12pm which is inconsistent. Then the receptionist asked me for payment, which was for the full reservation cost again which I had already paid. Good job I noticed or would have been charged twice for the room. Not a good first impression. To be fair we only waited 5-10 mins in the end and were told our room was ready so not long. We then got ready and had a lovely day. It is a great wedding venue and it's nice to have a wedding outside in pretty gardens. Breakfast was lovely, hot and served to order and the waiting on staff were great. The hotel looks very pretty on arrival and the gardens really make this place. I'm guessing the hotel makes it money from the weddings they hold. The rooms and facilities are a bit dated so probably wouldn't come again as not really to our taste. We like it a bit more modern when it comes to a hotel room, the rooms, carpets could do with being updated and would prefer a pool, spa etc, there is nothing else that would draw me to it to want to stay again unless for another wedding. Overall a good stay but a few things could be improved and probably won't bother returning.

Ideal location for our overnight stay en route from Scotland to friends further south. Close to M6 but set in quiet leafy grounds close to area with plenty of pubs/restaurants for dining out. Spacious room with comfortable bed. Traditional furniture with modern bathroom (shower over bath). All very clean. Basic toiletries and no hairdryer (apparently can request one at reception, very odd), but otherwise all facilities needed for a nights stay. Breakfast excellent with varied buffet for fruit, yogurts, cereals & juices plus great choice of hot food cooked to order & served promptly. Self service machine for good coffee (or wide selection of teas). All quality ingredients and very tasty, served in newly decorated atmospheric bar area with views of the gardens. Enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

An older property in park-like surroundings. Comfortable room and excellent breakfast. Unfortunately a band was playing until midnight in a reception room on the ground floor, so we could not get to sleep until the music stopped.

Nice wee hotel, sadly I probably got the worse room (Rm 3) no view , no air as opening my window would give others access to my room. Tv didn’t work…. Staff are lovely as are the gardens

The facility really needs an update. We appreciated a room for disabled but unfortunately things like hooks on the back of the wet-room door was too high to be reached. Also no hand rail for disabled assistance.

The gardens were beautifully kept. Unfortunately the room smelt damp, it was clean however. The minimal supply of toiletries (one tiny bottle between two) was disappointing, as was the coffee, only a couple of milks left per day. You can ask for more but you shouldn’t have to. Breakfast was lovely though, the cooked breakfast really good but again, sadly the waiting staff weren’t welcoming and happy. Customer service training wouldn’t go amiss! The bathroom had no towel rail for damp towel and the wet room held water so it was a soggy walk in the middle of the night if you needed to use the toilet. All in all you get what you pay for so I guess I wasn’t surprised, but the room was nothing like advertised.

The room was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. Staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming. The grounds were immaculately kept. If you're outside you'll be aware of the noise from the M6 but it wasn't a problem inside the hotel

The property is lacking in Several areas that i noted, staff are unaware of their duties, there is a lack of understanding of things needing attention, the attention to detail is 0. Fawlty Towers comes to mind. Breakfast haphazard, things available only if the dairy man has been. Staff unaware of what foods are on menus that arnt available. Summer bedding on beds in harsh cold weather, hairdryer available on request! Bedroom carpets very dusty around edges, clothe headboard full of dust, walls marked and dirty. An unkempt feeling of the property, could be spectacular with the right people in charge. I would not stay again.

Room was clean , the staff were lovely especially those on the breakfast rota. Food was good too .

I stay at Statham Lodge every week due to work. Staff are always helpful & welcoming. Food is great. Not had a bad meal yet. Beds are really comfortable & I always sleep well. Only downside is some rooms have a musty smell , but generally the rooms are great. I am happy staying here, it works well for me.

Room smelt damp on entry, once in bed sheets felt damp. Food was good, breakfast was average, breakfast area had no atmosphere very quite and awkward. Staff were very pleasant though i must say

Lovely old building. But it was cold and they could not put the heating on and the last portable heater had already been given to another guest

On arrival we were really pleased with the hotel setting, appearance, amount of parking and friendliness of the check in staff. The room was clean and a good size although lacking slightly in shelf/worktop/storage space, this wasn’t a major issue. Breakfast was great. The food and staff were lovely. It would be helpful for there to be a sign telling guests to seat themselves, save them standing around when they arrive. Unfortunately the room was incredibly noisy and prevented us getting the good nights sleep we had booked it for. My daughter ended up sleeping with her AirPods in trying to drown out the noise. Our room was just by the function room and “public”toilets and both evenings we were disturbed by guests coming in and out of the room and doors banging, making ours rattle. The second night was even worse than the first with music and guest noise until the early hours. We were woken early in the morning by staff going in and out of the building. I believe we were very unlucky to be assigned a room so close to an entrance to the building and the function room, without being a guest of the events. Our stay would have been wonderful I’m sure if we had stayed the other end of the hotel. It would be much better for the rooms in this location to be assigned to guests attending these events rather than those trying to have a quiet weekend away. I was initially thinking this would be a great base next time we visit the area. Now I’m not so sure.

Hotel and restaurant was good and very reasonable for the price point. However my room must have been above an extract unit or something and there was a constant on/off mechanical drone all night, resulting in a poor nights sleep. Other rooms may not have this issue but mine certainly did.

Rooms was a bit dated, but nice and clean. Comfy beds, couldnt complain. Was worried it might be too cold as window was a bit draughty due to age, but once the central heating came on, it was very cosy. Cooked breakfast was along alongwith a selection of pastries, cereals, juices and hot beverages

Good hotel and nice to look at. Interior good and classy decor. Quiet location given proximity to M6. Food and bar a nice place to be and breakfast excellent for the price! Walls quite thin so noisy and windows need secondary glazing. Otherwise all good.

Lovely place, though the rooms are a little dated with some of the features. Staff are friendly and helpful, area is very pleasant. Not the greatest aerial signal for the TV. WiFi definitely came in helpful as the phone signal there is barely existent. Tasty breakfast and a great price for the stay.

The room was very small very old fashioned and cold due to the old single glazed windows. No hairdryer in the room. The room is badly in need of an upgrade. Fortunately we were only there for 1 night and didnt arrive until late.

Excellent stay for a short family break after a day at Gulliver's, around 15 minutes away. We stayed as an extra treat for Easter weekend, although home is only around an hour away.The hotel and grounds are well looked after and worth a look around including the hidden paths, good for exploring with our two young children. Breakfast setvice from the team was excellent, evening service the previous night was good but could be better, plates were quickly left on our table with staff rushing off without checking if we wanted anything else. When staying, spend some time looking at the history if that is your thing. We will be back in the future.

I booked this hotel for friends who attended my husband’s 80th birthday. They were very happy and really impressed with the rooms and service. Staff were really helpful. They will visit again.

Our experience was excellent except 24 hour room service was advertised and when we arrived at 9:30pm after driving delays, we were told the kitchen was closed. The reception person directed us to a takeaway in the village which we did, but would have preferred to stay in after our long drive. Breakfast and staff were delightful.

Lovely friendy hotel. Great comfy room. Excellent value and very convenient for the M6.

This hotel is in a beautiful setting. Very serene and quiet. Lymm village is absolutely stunning. We stayed here because of proximity to the airport not realizing how stunning the area is. Lymm really is one of my favourite villages in the UK.

Wonderful staff, service and location

This was a one-night stop over travelling from north to south. It's a short journey from the M6 and very close to Lymm. It's got lovely gardens, comfortable bed, nice bar and excellent breakfast. Ample car parking as well. Recommended.

Nice hotel, within easy walking distance of Lymm town. Friendly staff and lovely room, but windows wouldn't stay open , so had to use coathanger to keep it open as was very hot. Fab shower and bathroom. Would book again .

Excellent all round. Friendly, clean, great breakfast.

Nice enough place with good parking, but the food is peculiar. Rib eye steak swimming (and I mean swimming) in a strangely flavoured butter. No salad, vegetable, tomato, mushrooms or other accompaniment, just a side plate of chips. The starter was wild mushrooms on an inch thick hunk of sourdough. The mushrooms were nice enough, but the quirky "marmite butter" detracts massively. Umami doesn't need to be with umami. Just odd.

Gorgeous hotel. Astonishingly expensive eggs for breakfast.

Menu limited if staying for a few nights. If paying by card you could not add a gratuity as it did not go to the staff. I thought I had completed the forms for goods ordered to be put on my account but it seems I didn’t and only found out when we went to our room and got a phone call to say we had to pay immediately.

The breakfast was very good with different options and freshly made by the kitchen.

Beautiful grounds, delicious evening menu in restaurant (though very limited for vegetarians) and at breakfast, very comfortable bed and pillow. Only negative is that if you are eating on your own in the restaurant you are given the darkest seats facing a pillar whereas couples who are so busy chatting to each other that they don’t notice the views, are given the window seats.
