Hotel & Spa Poco a Poco - Costa Rica

Great location and very nice resort/spa. All the Staff were great and very accommodating to requests. One thing to note is that there is no air conditioning in the rooms which was not an issue since temperatures were cool except that your wet clothing (it rained a lot when I was there) would not dry out. It was an easy walk to many shops, restuarants, etc. Biggest negative was that the hot tub was not hot and the jets were not working some of the time.

We loved our stay at Hotel Poco a Poco! The location is perfect—close to town but still peaceful—and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with recommendations. Our room was clean and cozy, and the restaurant served excellent meals. The only downside was that the pool and jacuzzi were under renovation during our visit, but everything else more than made up for it. Highly recommended for a Monteverde stay!

The road from La Fortuna to Monteverde is an adventure in and if itself! Very drivable but bumpy! The cloudforest sits atop the mountains! Poco a Poco has beautiful rooms on beautiful property. We walked the paths on site with flowers, forestry, and butterflies! We had a wonderful relaxing massage at the Spa. I would definitely recommend!

The staff at Poco a Poco were so incredibly kind and accommodating, they were a pleasure every time we had a question or needed something. The amenities of the property were clean and well-maintained, having a covered pool and hot tub was such a big plus for us since we visited during the rainy season. The property even has a walking trail on its grounds where you can see capuchin monkeys in the trees above you! They're also in the process of updating and revamping the interiors of some of the units, so I can only imagine how much better the property will be after! I would definitely recommend this hotel and plan to stay again during my next time in Monteverde!

Clean property. But it was too loud as some construction was going on. The nature walk around the property was great. Breakfast was good. Shopping nearby and plenty of restaurants at walkable distance.

Our family of 4 had a wonderful stay here. It was a beautiful property with a nice path through their gardens and some wilderness, that was home to a variety of singing birds. They have a fire pit with marshmallows our kids enjoyed roasting. Service was spectacular and every worked was very friendly. Breakfast was yummy too. It’s just a couple minute walk to a nice grocery store (to fill up the fridge they give you for the room), many restaurants, and a bakery if your heart desires. We would definitely come back.

I really enjoyed staying at Poco a Poco. The pool is great, it's warm so we enjoyed it at night after walking all day. Breakfast is really good.👍

It’s a nice little hotel tucked away in the small town of Monteverde. It has a nice pool and close proximity to the area attractions and dining options. Safe, clean and a decent breakfast spread.

The hotel is well maintained around the grounds with a nice walking trail. The staff were helpful and friendly. The room was mostly nice except some ants crawling around the coffee maker and the mattress in our room was very used and old; I could feel the springs coming through. I can sleep on the ground w/o issues but someone with back problems wouldn't do well there.

The staff was super friendly, the drinks were good. However there was a strange smell in our room both nights that we have not experienced anywhere else. We thought it might be the drain, but we closed the washroom door and it was not that. We had to open the windows for a bit to let it air out but the smell came back. We do not know what it was from and since it was our second and last night there we did not inform the property. We faintly smelled it the first night but it was more pronounced the second night. The food at the restaurant was okay (compared to the other places we have been to) but the staff were super friendly so that was nice.

Room was spotless and very comfortable. All the staff were kind and helpful.

Absolutely loved staying at Poco a Poco. Would stay here again in a heartbeat if I’m back in Monteverde. The room was clean and very comfortable (AC, comfy bed, great bathroom). The property itself is gorgeous with amazing views. The staff are extremely nice. If you’re considering it, go ahead and book.

Trabalhadores da manutenção me acordaram assustada às 5:30 da manhã, batendo portas, pisando e falando alto bem ao lado do nosso quarto. Passaram o dia inteiro circulando entre os hóspedes fazendo pequenos serviços que não tinham urgência, utilizando equipamentos barulhentos e encaravam os hóspedes como se estivéssemos os atrapalhando, mexiam nos equipamentos da jacuzzi enquanto havia hóspedes dentro, e ainda compartilhavam do café da manhã junto aos hóspedes, com suas roupas sujas de serviço, o que achei bem inadequado. A administração do lugar não teve qualquer bom senso em dar andamento a uma reforma com os hóspedes dentro e ainda ignoraram nossa primeira reclamação. Chegamos no domingo e parecia um sonho; quadro aconchegante com cama, banho, iluminação, móveis, toalhas revestimentos…tudo perfeito, apenas achei meio esquisita a varanda com vista para o telhado. Entretanto, o sonho virou um pesadelo; fiquei extremamente irritada com o ruído, até que resolveram nos agradar com um (ótimo) jantar e nos acomodar em uma silenciosa suíte “superior” onde o colchão era mole (detesto), não tinha box no banheiro, que molhava inteiro e cheirava a mofo devido a falta de janelas. Rapaz do omelete muito gentil, mas absurdamente lento e confuso. Hotel com muito potencial e extremamente mal gerenciado.

Bromelia room had no airconditioning and what made it worse was the main window by the door was mostly fixed glass so air flow in unit was poor. As soon as we would get in the room we left the door open to bring in some fresh air. Also there are no proper closets in this room. On the plus side gardens are beautiful to walk around in the morning with lots of birda and also an agouti.

Wir wurden freundlich empfangen und hatten 2 Zimmer gebucht. Beide Räume waren wie zuvor beschrieben. Unser Studio war riesig, ebenso das Bad. Das ganze Personal war sehr freundlich. Frühstück gab’s nicht als Buffet, sondern wurde frisch zubereitet. Der Pool ist angenehm groß.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. Our room had a great layout that included a minibar, in room hot tub and walkout patio. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and the breakfast had great options for everyone!

Beautiful, faciltiy. We stayed in the Forest Deluxe room which was larger and a bit further back from the road. The grounds are well maintained, the breakfast service was great and the staff was friendly. Just across the street are some decent restaurants and a grocery store. It's a short 2-3 block walk to the town square.

Our room was across from the hotel restaurants kitchen so we could hear that noise whenever they we open. There was also construction just outside of our room which was quite loud. The room itself had two tiny windows that opened, no air conditioning or even a bathroom fan so when we showered the whole space steamed up and only somewhat dried if we opened the main door. By the time we left all of our clothes felt damp even if we hadn’t worn them. Some of the staff were very helpful while others were not at all—a young woman at the check in desk seemed bothered to look up shuttle times/costs for us. The restaurant was overpriced for the quality of the food/drinks. The jacuzzi was not warm. Overall I would not recommend this spot even though it is cute and convenient.

Notre chambre, la plus chère de notre séjour, était extrêmement sombre, avec quasiment aucune fenêtre. Lumière indispensable même en journée. Aucune vue. Piscine sous un abris. Au final très mécontent du rapport qualité prix.

Great service. Excellent breakfast buffet and good restaurant. There is a lot of dining option in a walking distance also. Nice tropical garden where we can observe hummingbirds and a toucan. The only bothering thing was that the breaker of the A/C had to be repaired twice in 2 days (it get very humid in the room without ventilation even if it is not that warm) but we had service for it has soon as requested

Great location to shops and restaurants. No AC in the rooms and our room didn’t have a fan. Also, very loud property - could hear every vehicle drive by, especially with having to have windows open because room was warm.

Only complaint was room not air conditioned. Some rooms have AC some don’t.

Outside room away from main was nice and quiet. Reception staff (thank you Lilly and Benjamin!) was super helpful and kind, they made the stay! Also loved the live musician one night with a delicious dinner.

Our stay at the hotel Poco a Poco was an incredibly positive experience. From the very beginning, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The hotel was exceptionally clean, which added to our comfort. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time thanks to the attentive service. The staff arranged cars for us and booked our tours, making our stay hassle-free. The food in the restaurant was top-notch, offering a wide variety of delicious dishes. The selection of cocktails was impressive, and we enjoyed trying different ones each evening. The surrounding nature was beautiful, providing a serene backdrop to our stay. The pool was clean and inviting, making it a perfect spot to relax. Overall, we had an amazing experience and highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent staff We forgot pasports and $$ in locker. the staff were very nice and couriered it to our next destination for the next day.. (all intact) kudos…

Beautiful property with great views and beautiful gardens. Close walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Nice pool and spa. Delicious food at the restaurant. Short drive to the Monteverde cloud forest. If renting a car be prepared for some rough roads glad we were there during the dry season.

Wonderful location near multiple rainforest/suspended bridges/zipline options. Don Juan coffee plantation only minutes away too. Excellent breakfasts included. Don’t miss the focus tree bridge 200m away!

The property was beautiful and clean. Location was great, with lots of walkable activities nearby. Additionally all of our booked tours offered free pickup from the hotel which made everything easier.

Stayed for 2 nights. Buffet style breakfast which was excellent. Fantastic pool and grounds. Staff excellent. Some lovely restaurants in Monteverde but not an easy walk if you have any mobility issues. We loved it. Also 5 minute walk to the “ficus tree”. Would recommend doing the San Juan, sugar cane, chocolate and coffee tour and the hanging bridges.

We absolutely loved our stay here! The views were incredible, the gardens were so nice to walk around in. The staff was very friendly and hospitable. The hotel was definitely walkable to shops and restaurants, although if you go to the main town area, you will have to walk up a fairly steep hill on the way back. We would stay here again if we are lucky enough to come back!

Stayed one night and overall was nice. Staff is friendly. Rooms are a bit small but comfortable. Avoid the restaurant if you can. Food not as fresh. Haf to return the fish and steak was not cooked right. Swimming pool is very small and covered(no sun).

The location was very convenient, with plenty of dining options within walking distance, and the town was easily accessible. Parking was available for guests, which was a nice perk. However, since it was the low season, there was ongoing construction that was quite noisy, particularly outside our hotel room. The work continued until around 7-8pm each day, which made it difficult to relax. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and even welcomed us with a small treat for our honeymoon and assisted in booking a tour. The free breakfast, however, was inconsistent. Some items were cold, other days some items were missing, and the portions were small. The food never seemed fresh. One morning, when we asked for both juice and coffee, they initially said no, but the next day they gave us both without issue. Perhaps in high season it would be better.

Great hotel! Breakfast was excellent, but the cost of the Restaraunt was very high! Would highly recommend and go back!

The hotel’s restaurant, Otocuma, and its staff is simply amazing. No beed to go out and search for restaurants, you will want to eat there. We had some of the best meals of our trip there. The hotel’s yard and surrounding are so beautiful and relaxing. Perfect after a day of excursions in Monteverde. The room was clean, quiet, perfect for a 2 night stay. We loved our stay at Hotel Poco a Poco.

The restaurant was excellent because they used fresh ingredients that they grew in a garden. Excellent free sit-down breakfast. All the food tasted amazing. The staff is super friendly and ready to help with anything (e.g. tours rearrangement, transport arrangements etc.) Super eco friendly too! Great location in the town. We would highly recommend this hotel.
