The good: Dog friendly Big private patio Budget price in expensive area Has the basics The bad: No elevator Thin walls Old depressing furnishings Flickering lights in the hallway broken the entire stay. Hot shower water available on 2/3 mornings. Not offered any compensation. Small old fridge froze all my food. If you smell long enough you can feel it used to be a smoking room.

It was not good to go to the rooms with the luggage, because it did not have and elevator, floor was very dirty and the air condition unit was inside the room, you cannot sleep with the Noice

Such a cute little hotel right on the beach! We got the upgraded room with the balcony. Room was clean and has microwave, mini fridge, and smart tv so you can log into netflix if you wish. Hotel doesnt have many amenities like a gym or pool or anything but the view and relaxing ambiance makes up for it. They have a water machine in the lobby. We had a wonderful stay and the staff was so nice and accommodating! It has complimentary parking, is right next door to the cheesecake factory and is a few minute drive from venice beach. Would definitely stay again!

The beach view was unobstructed and peaceful. There was always plenty of safe, easy parking with no extra parking fees. The staff was always ready to help. The walls are a bit thin and the place is a little outdated, which was no issue for me. Great stay! I would highly recommended staying at the Foghorn and I will definitely be back.

We were given a room that was not serviced. The sheets were off and the garbage was full. We were assigned another room. The new assigned room was neat but the sheets were not clean. We were booked for 2 days but decided to check out one day early. We went to another hotel away from the area because there were too many transients around that area. Positive note is that it was next to Cheesecake Factory restaurant.

My first room, I walked in and it smelled like urine, very strong. Asked for a new room and the second room didn’t smell. However, it had its other issues. The room did not offer a secondary lock, the door was loose, and you could tell all the spackle that was used for hole fills and mold cover up. The bed sat so far off the floor had to jump a little to get on. The only great part of the room was the patio facing the harbor.

The motel is directly on Mother's Beach and we had a great patio, Cheesecake Factory is next door. Room had a microwave and mini fridge, beds were comfortable but no house keeping unless you ask for it (front desk should explain that at check in). The property is old, needs updating of carpets, freshen up with painted hallways, etc. Would make a better impression

The hotel is on the older side, but you can tell the staff truly care for it. Everything is well-maintained – nothing was broken, everything worked as it should. The cleanliness was outstanding: the room, bathroom, towels, and linens were all spotless, and there was absolutely no unpleasant smell anywhere. The room itself was spacious and offered a lovely view of the waterfront and the city beach. Having a Cheesecake Factory right next door was convenient. One minor drawback is the abandoned store building next to the hotel – it’s not the most pleasant sight and at first gave a slight sense of unease, but during our stay everything felt safe and quiet. Breakfast is light, mostly snacks, so you might want to follow it up with something more filling at Starbucks. Overall comfortable and safe, though the price feels high for what it is.

The staff was amazing! The facility is run down and the room wasn’t very clean. While it serviced its purpose and the location is great I likely wouldn’t stay again due to feeling like it wasn’t clean enough for me.

The bedding was filthy with fresh stains and hairs from the prior guests. I immediately left and stayed elsewhere. Received a refund but worry about others who might contract a disease. Aside issue, this inn is on a busy road which is very noisy. Hope this helps fellow travelers.

This place makes the motel in my name is earl look to notch, things are rusty in the bathroom, the room smelled , it early needs a paint job and repairs. Location is good, but it a very average motel for the price

Renovated property! Room is beautiful. Memory foam Mattress, nook reading or texting chair, comfy new, clean bedding. Smart mirrors ….different lighting settings, anti fog in bathroom. Clean, cheerful staff, bkfst included. Patio with a view of the beach and marina. Highly recommend.

It's definitely dated, but you can't beat the price at this location. It was nice to have a view of the marina, but please be aware that it faces a public beach and can be quite loud at times. They offer free "breakfast" but it's not worth bothering with. There is free self-serve coffee 24 hours a day, which is nice. I would stay here again if I am ever back in the area.

I love the Foghorn Inn and stay there every time I come to LA for the film business. Beautiful view and amazing location at the lowest price in the area. The motel is older but well maintained. I wish they would update a few things but with over 20 trips to the city, I don't know a better place for the money.

It was fine as a basic stay for a couple nights. The shower was only "scalding"on the first day (couldn't make it cooler) but fine the next two mornings, and it would be nice to have a coffee machine in the room, but, it was a cheaper price compared to other hotels nearby, so you get what you pay for! Parking was convenient, the bed was very comfy, and you're right next to the marina and beach. It was surprisingly quiet other than a bit of noise from music from a party yacht on a Saturday evening, but that shut off by 10 or 11 anyhow. All in all, was decent for a few nights' basic stay.

Place is ok. Clean and beds were comfortable. View and location are great. Free parking excellent but the room is very old and dated. Needs a remodel. No coffee maker in room. Budget friendly but could be a bit more updated. Very old and kind of beat up. Would stay again but I would request one of the updated rooms next time.

We had a lovely stay at Foghorn Harbor Inn in February. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The room was a little bit dated, but very clean and cozy. Loved backing onto the little private beach. Area is not super central, but we did walk to a lovely little area of Venice Beach! Overall, it was a great budget stay and I would definitely recommend.

Check in was easy, Ceasar was a great help. He was very friendly and helpful. Each staff member I spoke with was as well. The room was clean, the bed was fine, nice view of the beach. Just what I was looking for for my purposes.

My partner and our son stayed here for 3 nights in August. The hotel staff were friendly and efficient, our room was spacious and comfortable (with a lovely balcony overlooking the marina) and the free parking lot was incredibly useful. Great value, would recommend!

Did not have hot water in the morning to take a shower. Was attending a funeral and did not shower , water was super cold being near the beach. No cable tv , random channel. Don’t care about the tv but not being able to shower didn’t make my wife happy. Reception did not really care , tough luck . Was expecting a call from the manager but they never called .

The property is well located, old but clean and the rooms are OK. The staff at the front desk was cordial and helpful. The issue I had was with the water heater that was broken one of the days I stayed and I had to take a cold bath early in the morning. The hotel did nothing about it, after several attempts to talk to the manager in person, phone calls later or emails. I haven’t received a reply yet. Not good management…

I was going to write a stellar review because I loved the location, the room was bright, the outside patio was great and the staff was very nice. Then while checking on my bank account I saw $100 total of extra charges from the hotel. When I called to ask about this the phone answered indicating that no one was available to take the call and unable to take a message as it had never been set up. How terribly convenient fr them. So I emailed them and they responded advising me that we left behind badly stained bedding and towels that they were unable to clean and had to replace. I responded that my sister fell asleep while holding chocolate, but that should wash out easily. I have yet to hear back from them. My next question to them will be what kind of washing machine fare you using and possibly THAT is what needs to be replaced. And also the detergent, please let me know so I don’t buy or use it. And lastly, just how clean are your rooms (bedding, sheets , etc) if you are incapable of washing chocolate out of them.

Foghorn is at great location close to Venice beach, we walked there. Great view to bay area and marina, rooms are worn out but suotable for sleeping. Only minus for European is the breakfast with everything in plastic wrap.

In an area surrounded by expensive hotels, it’s good to find a “budget” one that offers clean and comfortable rooms, hot water, good coffee and nice views of the marina. Very nice staff, and 15 min walking distance to Venice pier. Thank you for having us!

Good proximity to Venice beach, good neighborhood but the hotel needs a modernisation. Rooms have a fridge and a microwave. Nice view over the harbour. Free parking on site. No beach towels despite being on the beach.

Beach view getaway! Loved the marina view with balcony. Clean comfortable room with balcony. Free parki ng. Close to the beaches, steps to the water. Cheesecake factory next door. Bonus, dining with marina view! My only complaint, there's no coffee maker in the rooms. However, they have instant coffee and green tea in the lobby. We'll definitely be back! Friendly staff too!

Beds and room were nice. But some simple fixes could have made this better - bathroom sink looks like it was tore off wall so repaired about 80%. Quick plaster and paint and would have been perfect. - ‘Breakfast included’ was false. Be more accurate. 3 granola bars, oatmeal packs and some fruit isn’t even continental breakfast. - no creamer for coffee. Desk said ‘waiting on delivery’. Cream is $5 at store. One of the three front desk people sitting around, get up and go get it. Excellent location though. Rest was good.

Great view of Mother's Beach, the private patio is a bonus. Fridge and microwave made it nice for a longer stay. The staff was excellent!!! What could improve is outdated bathroom and included breakfast items. Overall great experience thank you!

Staff was friendly, breakfast is a quick granola bar and nothing much. Coffee was good. The location is safe, and there were some nice bars to see around; however, they close early. View is towards the Harbor. No cable TV, just air stations. I did not feel as comfortable as advertised for the price, and the location is farther away from the beach than I thought. Just a nice harbor stay.

We booked this hotel based on breakfast availability but there was no coffee or breakfast available except few oranges…we checked around 7-8 am. Room service was also not good, they gave only 1 towel for 2 night stay for 3 people, so wiered.

Pretty basic property. "Breakfast" as advertised was a bottle of instant coffee. Room repair adequate, just. Hot water in my room was 5 minutes away. Wonderful location, served my needs, but if you are looking for something comfortable beyond a clean bed, this might not be it.
