The room and guest areas were clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. It was nice to have a fridge and microwave in the room. Complimentary breakfast was good compared to similar hotels. On the downside, the bed was average at best- the pillows were heavy and not particularly comfortable. Also the room furniture was dark, worn and dated. Parking was limited.

We walked in to stains on the carpet, wall next to the bed, the tile, dead bugs amassed in the corners of the room, and even one (a large one) walking across the floor. We were so uncomfortable that we left, communicated that the the front desk-with no attempt to repair-and neither Holiday Inn Express nor Hotels.com would give us a refund. Do not stay here. It’s gross.

There were tow nail clippings left on bedside floor. The light lamp cover covered in dust. The chair had crumbs along crack. The shower curtain was ripped, i could see foot pronts from precious renters imprinted on bathroom floor.

This hotel was extremely dirty. The pool’s women’s bathroom was the most disgusting bathroom I’ve ever been in. Little piles of hair everywhere. The pool floor had bugs and hair and the water was cold. The room furniture was old but it did have a working refrigerator. The shower ceiling was full of mold. The sheets seemed clean but the lack of cleaning everywhere else made me wonder just how clean they were. There were ants on the napkins for the free breakfast. When I notified staff that the pancake machine was out of batter the girl first ignored me then waved her hand at me and said someone else should be coming. She didn’t get anyone and kind of rolled her eyes at me. About 20 min later someone did show up but filled everything else first. She knew I was waiting but didn’t care. The only helpful employees were the two that checked us in. I only saw them that one time. The rest seemed bored and like they didn’t want to be working there. The floors throughout the hotel were filthy including the elevator. Will not be back.

My husband and I always stay in Novi every few months just to go shopping so the shopping is always great. This time we stayed at the Holiday Inn express it was OK. The bathroom tub had hair in it and a little stains on the carpet the night sleep was not good because the people above us allowed their kids to jump around till 3 AM but it’s not the hotels fault.

Guests on 3rd floor keep stomping on the floor at night time around 11 pm and we complained few times to the front desk. The staff said they will attend the complain but guests still keep making noise and banging on the floor. We could not sleep till almost 1 AM.

The hotel is old and not kept up very well. Wallpaper was coming off the wall in the room. The water was cold both days when taking a shower. The noise from the people above was horrible and when I called the front desk to notify them the noise got worse. It was so loud it made our beds shake.

Manager and staff (Lisa) at desk was absolutely nasty. Hung up in my face and was plain rude when I asked for an explanation. Gave me misinformation and was flat out disrespectful. Manager sided with staff (Lisa) and made excuses for her. Will never stay here. Blamed Expedia for the wrong information given.

Absolutely horrible. Got to the hotel at 530pm. Stood in line for 45 minutes with the one lady working the desk. Only for her to say that they had no room that was available. They stated they were still “cleaning rooms”. Check in was for 3pm. We were told there was nothing they could do and we would have to wait for housekeeping to clean rooms. Absolutely unacceptable. Asked for a manager only to be told they aren’t available. We ended up missing the dinner that we were here for because we couldn’t get ready in our room. Horrible experience. Never ever stay here.

The hotel is great. Although they overbooked people so people were showing up that their reservations were cancelled and they didn’t tell them about it. Myself included. We had 2 rooms luckily were able to cram everyone in the one room that wasn’t cancelled. We made it work but we’re never notified that the one room was cancelled. Kind of upsetting.

Stayed 3 nights. Had 2 separate rooms. Key cards to get into our room literally would only work 1-2 times. Visiting to see a 2 night concert in Detroit, so we would get back to the hotel late, around 1-2 am. First night, we had to go to the front desk 4 times to get new key cards because they would not unlock our door. And every time after that we had to get new cards. Very frustrating. Both of our rooms had this issue. The counter person advised us to not put the cards by phones or by other cards in a wallet. Still they did not work more than once. Next, they checked us out of our rooms 2 days early and charged my card for both rooms. I did not want to use this particular card for payment, only to hold the rooms. Then charged the card I wanted to use twice for both rooms. Over $900 total. It took lots of back and forth (over 3 weeks) with multiple people to get refunded for this. Very disappointing. Poor communication. Nobody would call back when they said they would. No email when promised. Lastly, the breakfast was disappointing as well. Containers left empty. The woman taking care of this was not friendly at all. Wearing earbuds so you could not ask for her to refill any of the food. Did not smile or greet. Overall seems pretty typical of Detroit area and I’m not surprised. We won’t be staying here again.

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn located in a quiet suburban area. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by Amir, the desk clerk, who was truly exceptional. Amir was not only professional and efficient but also incredibly pleasant and hospitable throughout my stay. He made check-in smooth and took the time to answer any questions with a genuine smile. His positive attitude was a bright spot and truly set the tone for the experience. The hotel itself was very clean and well-maintained, with comfortable accommodations and convenient amenities. It’s clear the staff works hard to keep the space welcoming and orderly. Unfortunately, one downside to the stay was the behavior of some of the guests. Being a person of color, I found certain interactions with fellow guests to be uninviting and at times, subtly racist. It’s disappointing to encounter this kind of atmosphere, especially in a setting meant for relaxation and hospitality. That said, my overall experience was good thanks to the cleanliness of the hotel and the professionalism of the staff—especially Amir, who deserves special recognition for his outstanding service. With more inclusive guest experiences, this Holiday Inn has the potential to be a truly excellent destination.

Check-in was 3pm and I go in at around 3:30pm. They tell me the room is not ready yet and will take about 30 min so I said ok no problem i will be back. I come back at 4pm and he(Lorenzo) tells me it’s not ready yet and I ask him do you know how long it would take or are there any other rooms available i can pay more if needed. He says there are no rooms at all and does not know how long it will take…..am i supposed to just wait in the car for who knows how long? He(lorenzo), the entire time, would give me attitude and roll his eyes when I did my best to talk nicely and said sorry, but could you check how long it would take. Luckily, I think another worker or the manager was on his way out and asked me if i was being helped and I said not really and told him what was going on. He finally got me a room and i’m very thankful to him for being so kind but the person at the desk was just awful.

We are really disappointed with this Hotel. I was on a trip with my family for 2 days and the cleanliness of our room was below expectations. On top of that, on our first day, I came to the breakfast room at 9:20 am (breakfast was supposed to be served until 10 am), and there was NO hot food. Nothing. I was with my 2 years old and he was hungry with nothing hot to eat. The second day was the same - no hot food and no milk! The receptionist was so uninterested in our complaint. I did not recommend this hotel to anybody!
