Lovely location and beautiful rooms and the Spa is a must … one piece of advice is to make sure you do not stay when the fire drill is taking place. We were forewarned but not to the extent of Turning the gas off in the restaurants so no service, all for safety and fire drills but rather extreme when paying guest are in residence and have pre booked.

Armathwaite Hall is primarily a spa, which detracts from the atmosphere of the Castle/ Hall. The Indian restaurant in the Castle doesn't make things any better.

Our second visit to Armathwaite and just as enjoyable as our first. From the moment we were welcomed in reception we felt right at home, and I immediately felt my stress levels drop! The team are excellent, always on hand to help and they enjoy a bit of banter too, there’s a real sense of fun and friendliness. Our waiter in particular was superb, he looked after us both nights as we tried the new Indian restaurant “Zaika”as well as in the Fine Dining Restaurant. Other meals were outstanding. (We didn’t catch his name, he’s been working at Bassenthwaite for 4 years, he told us he is originally from India, and very attentive!). Housekeeping were so efficient that our bedroom was freshened up whilst we had breakfast (overlooking spectacular gardens down to Bassenthwaite lake). Even the hotel cat was friendly! The environment and gardens are incredible, we were blessed with clear blue skies over the May Bank Holiday. Finally, the EV charging experience was very straightforward, and very reasonable. Our favourite Lakeland hotel, thank you to the team for such an enjoyable and relaxing stay.
