Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Richmond by IHG

We were planning to have out grandkids swim in the pool which was closed. They were very disappointed.

Highly recommend this hotel. Had a minor TV issue that was quickly resolved. Indoor pool, adequate fitness room and an included breakfast with plenty of options. Comfortable bed and great shower. Only complaint is lack of info on service information on breakfast times, pool times in room. Staff friendly and professional.

This property is under major construction. The outside is being ripped apart along with the inside being gutted. While this is extremely needed, it was no where noted on the hotels listing. The ice machines didn’t work, vending was not cold and ate our money. The gym was also closed and there was hardly any seating for breakfast. The pool area was dirty and could use a good deep clean dirty. Thankfully we had clean bedding in our room. I’m glad the building is being updated but amenities shouldn’t be completely removed.

Convenient location - the hotel is right off the freeway and down the street from EKU. It’s what I expected from Holiday Inn Express - clean, quiet, nice size rooms and plenty of parking. Also, the kids enjoyed the indoor pool. I enjoyed the Starbucks across the street.

Would be 5 stars,currently under remodel,and no business center

The bed and sheets were super soft and comfortable. The room was a good size. Breakfast was great. The only things I didn't like were the fact there's only one elevator, its not very big and it takes awhile. Also the night we were there the parking lot was packed, every single space was taken.

I believe the whole property was under renovation, so that might explain some of the issues we had. The one and only elevator in the hotel wasn't working when we checked in so we had to carry our luggage to the 3rd floor via the stairs. The room felt a little like a prison cell/dorm room. No pictures on the wall, no mirrors (except for one in the bathroom), empty spaces where it looked like something should have been there, furniture that didn't match, fluorescent lighting, towels with holes in them, etc... The hotel had very good reviews when we booked, so we were a bit surprised by our experience. The shower was nice, the beds were okay, and the breakfast was good. We didn't spend much time at the hotel, so it served its purpose. I probably wouldn't choose to stay there again if I came back to the Richmond area again though. Perhaps once renovations are completed the hotel will once again match the previous good reviews.

Be aware that this property is undergoing renovation. The management iis doing the best they can to keep the hotel running while work is being done. Our room was clean and comfortable, but there are crates of buillding supplies in the hallway, which may throw some people off. Breakfast was in a small conference room. I'm sure the property will be very nice when done.

The pool was closed for renovation. I wish that couldve been posted before I booked the 2 rooms. Otherwise, this was a great hotel to spend 1 night on our way home to Ohio.

The hotel was under construction which we have dealt with before, but the room we had was obviously not ready for guests. It had just been painted and the door was propped open upon arrival. There was not a closet or anywhere to hang clothes, no chair, and no towel rods in the bathroom. The associate who checked us in said there was nothing she could do and that we could talk to the manager about getting a partial refund seeing as the room was not up to the standard we have come to expect from Holiday Inn Express. The manager was not available until the day we checked out and she said there was nothing she could do as far as a partial refund or a partial credit for a future stay. The whole experience was quite disappointing especially as Holiday Inn Express is our go-to hotel for all our road trips. We feel the manager could have worked with us a little bit, but she made it sound like it was our fault for choosing a hotel that was going through renovations.

Our room was immaculate! The staff was friendly and welcoming. We had a great night of sleep, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom spacious and clean. Breakfast was okay but I am not a huge breakfast fan anyway.

Clean and simple

Didn’t realize that the property was in renovation. Our room was old, floors very dirty, blinds were broken and cabinets were pretty worn and banged up. Even the hallways looked pretty rough with paint chips on the corners of the walls and dirty carpets. For the price it would have been nice to get a newly renovated room. Likely will not return to that location.

This was the worst hotel we’ve ever stayed at. The rooms had hair in the bathroom and the bathroom sink leaked. The walls are thin and so you could hear everything. We called down to the front office because people were screaming & slamming doors until 3 in the morning. We came for one night to rest on our road trip home and will never stay again.

Fast easy check in. The rooms were clean and very nice. The faculty was very friendly. They would smile and say hi every time they passed you. Made you feel welcomed there.

Newly remodeled property! The room was beautiful and clean. Only concern neither TVs worked but when we mentioned it the staff when checking out they were very apologetic and made it right. I’d say overall it was an excellent property to stay at and already booked our rooms for family weekend!

I seemed to smell cigarettes and marijuana Also the bedsheets were cheap awful and uncomfortable. Amenities were dollar store cheap

I wasn’t aware of the renovations at the property. Our room was definitely not finished it was odd…. Only stayed for a night so I didn’t mind but missing lights and furniture…. Just surprised they let someone use a room like that

Heating / cooling in room had no control, temperature required experimentation. Took all night to get temperature correct.

They were working on the remodeling and our room was on the floor they were working on the smell was very strong with either paint or plaster smell. Our room had some marks on the floor that didn’t look as being cleaned.

Our stay was for one evening passing through on our way home to Canada from Florida. Hotel was very clean and quiet. The bed was very comfortable and bathrooms clean and modern. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and it was nice to have coffee and tea available when we arrived. I didn’t give 5 stars only because we had a room on the main floor and kept the curtains closed due to facing out to the pool and a walkway. Also our refrigerator kept making a loud humming noise. But these are very minor and just room related. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Floor in room was vinyl no carpet. Shower floor was so slick it was hard not to slip and fall. No bath soap bottle was completely empty.

This is the 3rd time I’ve started at this hotel and was very disappointed this time. To start with, I didn’t book until after 5 pm day of stay and checked on this hotel and others in the area. This hotel had highest rating on site and also most expensive. My daughter likes this hotel and wanted to start here but I told her it was quite pricey at $450 for 2 nights. I was upset because price had dropped and I figured it was due to time of day but then jumped right back up a minute later. That’s a hotels.com thing not the hotel but they also quoted the price with using my key rewards and I thought prove worlds be lower once I used points but points were ahead automatically deducted which seems misleading The main at the desk was very nice and helpful and hotel was clean. There were 4 in our party and only 3 towels so I walked to desk for more towels. Needs were not comfortable. Breakfast was ok with lots of choices but just ok. The next morning the housekeepers were cleaning rooms across from us and asked something and I thought she meant were we leaving so I told her we are leaving for the day so it was ok to clean. Came back that night v and room was not cleaned and again was without towels and had to b go to desk v and get more. I realize some hotels no longer clean daily but v I saw no sign in room that they wouldn’t b clean and certainly most people take daily showers. For the b price paid out didn’t seem like good service at all and 2 desk workers smoking 3’ from door

The property was nice and well kept. We checked out Sunday but had requested a late check out. We were denied the late check out. We were disappointed.

Front desk check in was great and check out. Both front desk employees were friendly and helpful. Makes your stay so much better when greeted with a smile as we were.

Nice hotel in the middle of many with lots of dining options

Clean and comfortable and easily accessible from the I75.

Comfortable beds. Large shower. Clean. Nice amount of selections for breakfast. Concurrent location to EKU.

Richmond is an hour away from SUP Kentucky and an hour away from the Ark Encounter. city is big enough to have multiple restaurant options but small enough that traffic is not a nightmare

My wife and I were traveling to Tennessee with 5 of our grandchildren. The room and hotel were clean and the beds were comfortable. The staff was kind and welcoming! I noticed at check in that they seemed a little tired so I asked if it was a tough day and they said super busy, every room booked! With that in mind you would think that someone would have notified the breakfast team! Breakfast was a disaster! They ran out of coffee and their only hot food was some tiny sausage biscuits, I honestly have never seen them this small! They were bite size! No pancakes or waffles! No regular oatmeal, just the instant packages and some bread! We just left and went to a restaurant!

This hotel was so nice. Had a great feel about it. Not overdone...like so many are. Breakfast was nice. Beds were comfy. Price was great. Would stay there again.
