The only thing that was so disappointing was that they said the indoor pool was 83 degrees and that was not true. We went for my husband to be able to swim for exercise after major surgery. It was so cold that he could not even go in the pool and there were other people there in the hot tub because the pool was not warm at all and also seemed a bit cloudy. Hotel was nice but we were very disappointed.

The hot tub was gross. Had brown stuff floating in it. The pool was cold even though it’s heated. The hotel could use some updating in the rooms but for the price it was average.

The property itself is beautiful but the pool was less than luxurious. It was sandy and filthy. The pool and swim area were packed. It appears you can get day passes which for people who pay good money to stay there is disappointing. There were never any towels available at the outside or indoor pool. The staff checking us in was less than enthusiastic and did not give us any information about the property even after telling her it was our first time being there. The house keeping and maintenance staff were very friendly every day! The room itself was clean and cozy.

It is not a cheap hotel at all! Overall, the money you pay deserves much more! The ground of the hotel is really nice; you don't need to go outside at all! The grass area, private beach, few restaurants, bars.... Thats why we booked the hotel. Having a private beach is great, but beach chairs and beach towels could be much better. On Sunday, there was just 1 waiter for the beach service, and beach was totally full. The pool was very disappointing, very shallow, like it is just for kids! I really like the bar area, and the live music. Food was okay at the Seaview Bistro, I ordered steak frites, instead of fries they serve potato wedges, that was weird! When it comes to SPA, we had a massage, it is spa hotel so I assume it would be nicer, the relaxation room was like doctor's office waiting room :( Massage was okay.

Girl's weekend started off well with an early arrival and access to our room and the beach and pool, then it was primarily DOWNHILL from there. No towels or a Limit of 1 towel per person at the beach run by mostly uninterested teenagers. Overcrowded beach and pool areas. Apparently they provide day passes to all of their timeshare owners. We were also told by someone at the pool that she snuck in. When the hotel is close to capacity there should be limited day passes available. They clearly could not provide proper attention to the customers with such large crowds. The next afternoon we came back to shower before dinner and were welcomed to a saturated rug due to a leak in the ceiling. We were promised a new room once we finished with dinner. We were offered one bed with a pullout sofa in another building. The entire experience kept us without a room for 4 hours and cost us additional time to pack, wait for help with our luggage to move and then unpacking for the 2nd time. We were offered breakfast or lunch for our troubles. After being told that they had no rooms with 2 beds I went on to the Expedia app and found that this was not at all true. The woman at the front desk finally offered us a room that was appropriate for 3 adults and we tried to enjoy the night and the next am before we checked out. Housekeeping rang the doorbell and knocked at exactly 12:00 and told us if we were not out in 5 minutes then we would have to pay for an additional night.

Beautiful grounds, well maintained property. Our room was clean and comfortable. Definitely want to come back and extend our stay with family and friends. It’s a beautiful escape on the East Coast

The property is very nice as well as the staff. My main concern was cleanliness. My room was not very clean when I first arrived. The carpet had apparently not been vacuumed. There were Cheerios, beads, and band-aid wrappers on the floor. There were food stains on the wall. I wonder what else was not clean.

The room faces the parking lot and you cannot block the lights from coming into the room. The walls are extremely thin. I am not in the main building and neither Expedia nor the hotel could fix this. There is no elevator in this building. The heat is extremely loud. It is a junior suite but there is NOTHING in the kitchen: no towels, silverware, glasses, nothing. The TVs are tiny and ancient. Overall, not worth the price and didn't work well with Expedia.

Outdoor grounds, pool and beach area were outstanding. However our room was not. While spacious, the air conditioning was very loud and cycled on and off what seemed like every 10 minutes, all night, waking us up frequently. Plus when the neighbors took a late night shower, their exhaust fan sounded like it was in our room. Very noisy. Our room had an attached patio with dirty furniture- it would have been nice to sit out there. Pool and beach were wonderful as are the grounds and view.

Everything was excellent, especially the beach and walking areas. The only downside was that the walls were thin so if the adjacent rooms are full you can hear everything going on next door. Other than that, very happy with everything.

The over all property was outstanding. My only complaint is that the room I had was out dated. Not a USB port anywhere in the room and the tv in the room was small, not a smart tv with a remote that was hard to make work correctly

Nice beach front resort for New England. Water very murky, beach area is small, but pool was nice. Just over crowded with little kids. Loved when the little boy told his mom he was peeing in the pool, and the mother just laughed. Beds were awful. Pillows were so hard and uncomfortable. Could barely move our necks when we got up. Bed was also very springy. Italian restaurant - one waiter to the entire outdoor section. Never checked on us, not once, food took over an hour. Not much of Italian food on menu, one pasta dish. Food was good though, once we finally got it. We ended up getting appetizer with main dish. Not sure if the food was never put in, or what happened, but no one ever said a thing to us, not until we finally got the waiters attention…after an hour. Seaside grill, love the outdoor atmosphere, menu was very limited to hand held and appetizers, pricey for what is it. Overall, not bad. Property is nice, just needs new beds and better menus at restaurants. If you’re looking to relax at a nice New England resort, probably not the best since it’s a very family oriented place, lots of kids.

Quick impromptu perfect get away the night before Easter. I've stayed here before in the main building, and wasn't a huge fan..... Staying in the building on the LI sound was spectacular! It was beautiful, updated, and had all the luxury comforts of home. Full size kitchen, washer and dryer, wine fridge, gas stove, microwave, & fireplace. I loved falling asleep while listening to the waves hitting the shoreline at night, & the bed was extremely comfortable! My daughter met me with my grandchildren, and the hotel staff brought a crib to the room. Even the crib was beautiful!!! Dinner at the hotel was outstanding, the surf and turf came out perfect....Waters Edge exceeded my every expectation this trip, I'm so glad I decided to come!

The resort itself was beautiful, with average amenities and a wonderful location. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by repeated negative interactions with a front desk staff member, Leanne Susie Moy. On four separate occasions, including in front of other guests and staff, her tone and demeanor were unwelcoming and disrespectful. At one point, when I asked if she was the same person who had checked us in, she came out and loudly announced her full name and last name, then slammed paperwork on the front desk. This behavior turned what was meant to be a special mother–daughter getaway into a disappointing experience. Because of this, we will not be returning to the property. I’m sharing this feedback so it can be addressed for the benefit of future guests.

Great local place to get some beach time. nice facility but on Labor Day weekend they were really short staffed, and the service was not up to the standard expected. Single staffer working the beach bar was fantastic although customers waited 20 minutes to get served because of the lack of staff. Same with the patio bar. Dinner service was slightly better. After dinner, at the inside fancy bar, the bartenders were oblivious to us so we left without getting a drink. I reported that at checkout with the usual response about reporting it to management. I heard other customers complaining about service also.

The check in was not great as they pre authorized by credit card twice then told me the transactions failed despite my showing them the text that said it was cleared. I was on the phone with my Amex to prove to them that the charges went through and they refused me saying loudly that the transaction failed twice. I was displeased with the front desk all together.

Dinner service was awful. Reservation for 7:00 served dinner at 8;15. Had a glass of wine would have enjoyed another but one person was doing everything. Asked for manager which took over half hour. Richard was condescending. Met others after dinner, nobody was happy. Asked at checkout for discount but since I didn't bill to room, they could not credit to room bill. Next time I am billing to room wherever I go

Do not stay at this hotel if you have any mobility issues. The hotel does does respect guests with any handicap issues. No access to a few restaurants and no one from the staff to help. The staff needs to be trained in hospitality. Happy to elaborate more.

It was fine for me and my wife but terrible for my friends ,my friend is handicapped and it was horrible for him to get around in his motor vehicle , plus he had very little help from employees from Resort.

I love that this is (like its name) right by the water's edge, with a private beach. I appreciate having different options between the indoor and outdoor pool and the beach. The grounds are beautifully kept and the staff are very friendly.

Charming New England resort with a restaurant and a great bar on propriety. We were here off season but the property has beautiful grounds and a private pool and beach as well and would be wonderful to visit in the summer. Old saybrook has a cute downtown with nice restaurants and shops and it’s only about half an hour from Mystic and it’s historic downtown.

My boyfriend and I came here for the first time for a little getaway for his birthday and we had such a lovely time. Everything was perfect! Spa, the private beach area & Datillo’s restaurant is top tier. Thank you Water Edge for a fantastic stay! We will be back again!

Thus was our 1st time staying overnight. We enjoyed our experience overall. Only issue was the quality of my dinner was only ok. I ordered the Bucatini Frutti Di Mare. The taste was very bland. I found myself enjoying the rolls with butter the most. I wasn't able to enjoy all the amenities unfortunately but the time didn't allow it.

We only stayed for one day but it was excellent. The grounds were fantastic with great views of the Long Island Sound even from the beach side pool. The restaurants were a very convenient amenity and the dinner and breakfast there was good. Nice place.

It was our first time at Waters Edge. What a beautiful property! We loved having the beach within walking distance of our room. We ate lunch and breakfast at the hotel. Both were delicious. I am looking forward to our next little get away.
