I loved how beautiful the property is along the river. You can sit and enjoy a meal or drink in Adirondack chairs, or at the restaurant, or play cornhole, or sit by the fire ring. I loved the beautiful, mostly shaded trail system & the free bike rentals. We saw frogs & turtles & deer! The place was clean & friendly.

Our room was fantastic. The renovation is stunning. We have stayed at the Royal Park Hotel more times than I can count, in fact our daughter’s wedding and reception were held there! Our only complaint is the ridiculous fees added when you checkout. There is a $20 nightly fee to SELF park and an “amenity fee” of $15.90 which covers virtually nothing other than 2 “free” bottles of water. We always leave feeling buckled and dimed. The hotel is quite expensive, so these added charges feel unnecessary

Check in was easy, you are given two drink vouchers to use at hotel bar which was nice. They can be used towards any drink up to $10. Quick service at the bar as well. The room was recently renovated, the bed was comfortable. The bathroom also renovated needed to be cleaned better. Overall this is a nice hotel-however if you plan on parking and staying when there is an event going on(wedding, etc). You will have a hard time finding a spot after 10pm. We found this extremely frustrating since we are paying hotel guests and paid for parking. We had to drive around awhile before a spot opened up. Not acceptable for the amount of money we spent on the room.

The staff is really terrific. Would like to call out Rebecca at the front desk for being a true professional, very helpful, positive and a good presence to have at the front desk. Struggled finding a hot cup of coffee. The staff was very accommodating to my need but never did feel satisfied with the coffee I received. Nice health club. Very quiet property, which is nice. Love the location.

Having stayed for our anniversary a few years ago and having a top notch experience, we decided to do it again for our tenth. Ownership and management has changed since then, and we noticed a decline in multiple ways. #1 greeting at check in was much less staffed, no anniversary greeting (although I messaged ahead of time), no welcome cocktail as previous stay, no room upgrade either for our platinum status or tenth anniversary celebration, no in room acknowledgement or welcome( last time they had a welcome basket with champagne and chocolate). The hotel in general was not as cleanly or upkept for a luxury category property. The room had no coffee maker so we looked to order room service breakfast. No menus or mention of it in room or on tv that I could find. I pushed the room service button on phone for it not to be answered. Finally I got an operator who put me through to restaurant. I ordered and it was delivered like grub hub in paper bags and plastic ware. No tray, no silverware, no class. Not what you would expect for such a property. The one perk we might have received due to our platinum status was a later checkout, but the maid busted in before that and said she was not notified. While walking to our car on our way out, they had their garbage area open with sewage smelling water flowing across walkway that we had to dodge/get around. Also forgot there was what looked like pee on top of toilet tank. Not like it used to be.

I’ve stayed at the Royal Park approximately 15x over the last few years. It used to be worth every penny. This stay makes me question how it could possibly remain a 4 star hotel. Cons: filthy room. I stayed in a large terrace king room. The lamps, headboard, base boards, doors, cords, and every corner was CAKED with dust. No coffee or room service available. The restaurant operates separately from the hotel so don’t even attempt room service. I’ve learned from the past and bring my own coffee when I stay. Restaurant kitchen closes at 10 pm, even on the weekends. They’ve got this new $20 parking fee. Honestly, don’t bother. Park at the library across the street. The hotel has a MASSIVE on site parking lot and free self park has always been available. Charging guests $20 to park during the week when the lot is dead is robbery. A $150 pet “cleaning fee”. I paid $150 for a cleaning fee for my pet, when my room was dirty and I’m sure they aren’t going to deep clean my room for the next guest. So that $150 fee is a money grab. Typically high end hotels roll the cost into the room rates. Hiltons charge fees, not 4 star hotels. Lastly, and this is a huge issue, people smoke cigs on their private terraces. The terraces are all connected. I wasn’t able to go outside on my terrace at night because other guests were chain smoking on theirs. I know smoking isn’t “allowed”, but this policy should be enforced and guest of terrace rooms should be reminded upon checking in.

This was my first time at the facility; I will return. The staff was solicitous, the food was good, and the facility is a great hotel. The housekeeping staff, on the other hand, was not up to par. In fact, one day they completely forgot to clean the room. In spite of this, when in Rochester, I recommend the Royal Park Hotel.

Unfortunately, this stay was different that my previous stays which were very good. A renovation design of the bathroom has a big flaw. They installed a giant soaking bath that took up too much space. The shower was extremely small for the the three water jets or to even get one of them to work properly. Thus, water goes everywhere. After alerting maintenance that one of the TV remotes was broken, it was never replaced. I returned one evening to find no air conditioning in two of the rooms. Maintenance came up, returned with a ladder and fixed the HVAC. I later realized the HVAC was dripping water soaking the carpet. Only a tissue was in the HVAC vent to supposedly ?? soak up all the water. The front desk person was wonderful. He offered to help move me to another room.

While he wa sin our room, heard on his call scanner that another room was having to switch rooms because the fireplace wasn't working. Front desk staff so unhelpful, and didn't even want to acknowledge you. Did the bare minimum of their job, was like pulling teeth trying to get any information.

Checkin process, service, room, restaurant, hotel itself all very good to excellent. The issue we had was on Saturday night; My wife and I reserved our stay expecting a relaxing and quiet time for our anniversary. Unfortunately, there was a wedding directly below us on Saturday and the music, reverberation and pounding bass for hours made the night absolutely miserable. I considered going to inform the front desk how irritated we were about this, but did not as I know it's not practical or realistic to expect them to ask the wedding to tone it down. The other option was to request a different room away from the noise, but both of us were tired after eating dinner downstairs and neither of us wanted to pack up our things to relocate. I'm trying to be fair in my review, but Saturday was so bad that it tarnished the entire two day stay. I'm certain that a hotel of this caliber would have had to address something like this in the past, so frankly, very disappointing they put someone in a room directly above a wedding. Very poor decision.

The hotel is beautiful, in a quiet location with lovely views. Everything was beautifully decorated for the winter holidays. My room was spacious, elegant and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and efficient, and I especially enjoyed the welcome cocktail upon arrival. Parking was a challenge, as there were two large weddings happening in the hotel the evening I checked in. I didn’t expect to need to valet park my car, but nearly all of the available parking spaces were reserved for valet parking, and remained so for the weekend. However, the attendants were quick and efficient. Overall a very nice stay; if ever in the area again I would return!

Did not have enough staff at front desk. We had to take our bags to our room, there were no porters at check in. Room was newly renovated which was nice but doors would stick and require a good shove to open. Terrace door lock was loose. Restaurant was nice and food was very good.

We were given drink tokens at check in to use at the on site bar. When we got to the half full bar for dinner and drinks, the hostess looked me up and down before smuggly saying “We don’t serve walk-ins.”. My wife and I were dressed casually (jeans and a t-shirt), but so were several of the patrons seated at the bar. So I’m guessing it wasn’t a dress policy. I was later told that the bar/restaurant is sometimes reservation only during peak hours. If that was the case, the hostess’s method was a terrible way to tell a guest of her hotel about that policy. Definitely won’t be back.

The hotel is nice and in a very walkable location in downtown rochester. The room was great as were the housekeeping staff. I don't recommend the bar or restaurant. Staff were extremely slow and uninterested in providing service. There are many better options within walking distance.

Restaurant manager assured us that the food would be safe for celiac kids. It was far from it and the service staff had no idea about the dangers of a mistake. $60 breakfast was a nightmare. Bed was hard as a rock. Front desk staff was not helping when trying to discuss a night refund and then the manager of the hotel denied my request for a one night refund. They forced me to pay for a night we could no longer stay for. Overall very disappointed because the hotel came highly recommended. I will not be staying here again.
