La Quinta by Wyndham Kansas City Airport

I rarely leave one star reviews because I am business owner as well. I get that things do not always go as planned. However, if you advertise on Expedia that you have a pool - and you’re a traveler focused hotel right off the interstate - I expect the pool to be working. Being a high turnover hotel, you could literally say every day, “Oops, just broke today…” and never actually have a working pool. And I chose this hotel based upon the pictures of a nice indoor pool for the kids to blow off steam after traveling all day. Also, come on, the digital locks with the mag keys - update them. The locks are trash. They don’t work. You have to pray to whatever deity to get your door to even open. Really nice after a long day traveling to not have the doors work, and I had two rooms. Both did not work, and the front desk could have cared less. I would like a refund. This was entirely not as advertised. The beds were comfortable enough and breakfast the usual continental fare - no problems there. Otherwise, do not stay here if you have kids or want to easily access your room without the aggravation of your keys not working.

This is a wonderful place to stay for a while! Breakfast is always good and cheerful staff. The bicycle in the gym currently isn't working but overall the hotel is in great condition!:)

Comfortable beds, clean room, pet friendly for a fee. Friendly employees, however, my only complaints are with the swimming pool. There are no swim towels and the tiles on the side of the pool needs cleaning as there is dirt on the tiles.

Experience was not so good. When we got to our room, the toilet seat was completely off the toilet and the desk chair seat was loose (it was missing two screws). They did immediately respond and repaired the toilet and desk chair. That was much appreciated but indicates that their Housekeeping doesn't monitor the condition of the rooms. We were also there for three days; and the last night there they did not perform any housekeeping. The elevator was also not operational for a few hours since it was under repair. Seems that they need some updating of their facility.

Booked for a quick get away with the kids and liked they had a pool. Room was ok and location was fine. The pool had paint chips and dead bugs floating in it plus looked a little cloudy. The 3rd floor hallways are small.

WATER ISSUES - couldn’t shower or use toilets for some reason!? No offer of compensation for inconveniences.

The pool was freezing

The bathroom was dirty. Elevator clearly hadnt been cleaned. It appeared that the bare minimum was done as far as cleaning.

I am sorry to report that the dryer was not working. There is a sign on it and for the 5 days we were there it was broken. The trouble is I was there for business and needed to wash sports official pants and shirts, thus having to go to a laundromat. I don’t usually write reviews, but after a five-night stay, I felt it was important to share my experience. Unfortunately, the hotel did not meet the expectations set by the photos when I booked. The cleanliness was a major concern. The floors throughout the property were dirty, and the first floor had a strong odor that reminded me of a wet animal. The treadmill in the workout room did not work, and the condition of the fitness center floor (see photo) reflected poor maintenance. I also had to request a new TV remote twice because the batteries didn’t work—neither time were the batteries replaced. Instead, staff gave me the remote they were using at the front desk. The breakfast was below average, and even the main entryway appeared unclean. I’ve attached photos of the elevator floor corner and the workout facility floor to show the level of upkeep I observed. Since I couldn’t cancel without being charged for all five nights, I had no option but to stay. As a Wyndham property, I truly expected better care and maintenance. This experience left me disappointed and sadly will not book again when in the area. (photos of elevator floor and workout room floor, however this is what I experienced all over)

Staff was great and room was comfortable. Breakfast was good which included some fruit. Complimentary airline shuttle on site. Yes I will certainly stay there again.

Found bed bugs and refused refund.

On the first night we found bedbugs. After letting the front desk know that they gave us a new room. The day we were to leave we found bedbugs in the new room. We left at 4:00 am due to this. When I told the clerk he responded with “ do you want a receipt “. Will never stay at a Wyndom hotel again.

Checked in at about 10pm and waited awhile for someone to come to the front desk and check us in a room. The room was nice at first glance but as I pulled back the sheets to lay down I started noticing stains, there was a big blood spot on the mattress cover, a yellow stain on the top sheet, and a bunch of weird black and grey marks on some of the other linen. I Went downstairs to see if anything could be done but once again there was no one at the front desk. Ended up having to rip off all the sheets and bed cover and sleep on top of just the bubble as that seemed to be the only thing clean and with the blanket I brought. The jacuzzi was nice but not enough to excuse the blood. We ended up coming to a super 8 to extend our stay.

Bathroom vent fan was extremely dirty. I don't know that it's ever been cleaned. Poor Smell throughout the hotel, including room and lobby. Fire Alarm was going off in 5-10 second bursts throughout Saturday afternoon, into the overnight hours. Breakfast was only available until 9 am.

Rooms are not clean, my sheets had hair on them and cigarette burns, the base boards had stains all over. There was construction going on and they started work early in the morning.

The place stunk like animals in the hallway and room and it was disgusting I took a shower before bed and had to take another in the morning because the bed and sheets felt dirty and stank, but the towels did smell clean

Bedbugs at this location. Video of one crawling on the top cover of the bed. Still haven't received refund. Didn’t stay a night.

The sheets were dirty, there was something all over the wall and curtains. We stripped the beds and gave the linen to housekeeping. They said the would remake the bed with clean linen. We left and came back 7 hours later to no linen on the bed. Called down to the front desk and they made us get the linen out of the room make our own bed.

Our room was filthy. The floor did not look like it had been vacuumed, there was residue left on the counters. The screen in the window had a big hole in it. Nothing looked like it had been cleaned at all. All the luggage carts were falling apart so you could barely move it without the bars coming apart.

Dirty floors. Holes in doors. Mild in ac unit. Smoke from outside pulled into room by ac unit.

Continental Breakfast wasn't great, didn't expect it to be. Coffee was lousy, too many noisy neighbors. Housekeeping was inefficient, I usually keep to myself and clean my own mess. Bed was ok, but not very comfortable

Amazing, just as before. The rooms are spacious, the ac/heat always works well, the sheets are soft and fresh, and I love the in room desk area (it’s big enough to hold both of my monitors and work computer. 10/10, will book again for sure.

People left their dogs in the rooms barking for hours. You can hear EVERYTHING in rooms from the side rooms to the room above.

The staff was pretty nice and friendly, but the bed didn't seem like it was properly made, and there were some hairs on the bed when we checked in, and the build was outdated.\xa0

had a short but comfortable stay at this property. The hotel is located in a quiet, safe area, with clean and well-maintained facilities. Even though I arrived late at night, the check-in process was quick and easy. They offer online check-in, which helps speed things up upon arrival. The room included a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, temperature control, a TV with plenty of channels, and reliable Wi-Fi. I didn’t use all the amenities like the pool or gym, but they were available and appeared to be in good condition. Breakfast is included. The dining area looked clean and organized, with a good variety of options. The room was generally very clean. I did notice a small towel in the shower and faint marks on one towel and some linens. It seemed like a minor oversight and didn’t affect my overall experience. Overall, the hotel is a nice and comfortable place to rest. I would stay here again.

This hotel was nice but you could tell that it was older and had been fixed up. The hotel was clean and the beds were soft. We had a room with 3 Queen beds which was perfect for the number of people we had. I’ve never heard of 3 Queens in a room before. The walls and ceiling were thin though. It took us a long time to fall asleep because we could hear every footstep from the people above us and the room was warm despite turning the temperature down quite a bit. The pool was nice, and breakfast was great. The hotel is near quite a few good food options and only 10 minutes from the airport. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

They need to pay mire attention to the conditions of their beds. Our king bed had a severe dip in the muddle and slanted head down. Also empty liquor bottle under edge of bed.

The staff were helpful and polite. The room was okay except the window blinds had holes in them and didn’t close all the way. Being on the first floor this was unnerving.

Everything was great, nice size room but the bed was horrible.

Very noisy with guests taking their arguments to the hallway. Went on till 3am in the morning. Front desk morning shift worker was rude when my husband entered the restroom which was not locked and encountered worker brushing his teeth. Made my husband very uncomfortable.

Absolutely, the worst experience in a hotel (and, we travel, OFTEN!) Room service/housekeeping had been requested, directly, to frnt desk staff on FOUR consecutive days - AMAZINGLY, they failed EACH DAY! Though our stay was to have been 6 nights, we checked into a newer & much nicer hotel around the corner, after the 4th day. As well, property was run down and common areas were decrepit. The room was small, phone did not work and this was addressed, in-person to hotel staff who stated "the manager would contact me and provide compensation." That DID NOT occur! In fact, they lie about his presence! Very unfortunate! DO NOT STAY HERE!

I wouldn’t stay here again. The hotel didn’t seem the cleanest, the breakfast was TERRIBLE. And every time o went to the ‘front desk,’ if you want to even call it that, the staff was over sitting on a couch or table about to fall asleep. Not professional and just awkward and weird.

There was some confusion about my reservation that the front desk was able to clear up quickly. Room was clean, place was quiet, staff was polite. All I could ask for!

We stay in this hotel because the shuttle service to the airport is really good. This trip, the room was quite dirty and we had to change our own bed sheets. No toilet paper, carpet had not been vacuumed, sink and mirror were dirty and no personal care amenities on the tray. Sad because the location is great for folks needing to fly out of MCI Airport.

Smelled funny, and was not very accommodating on making reservations, ended up standing in the hobby and making them online for a cheaper price

Stayed Wednesday to following Tuesday and got room cleaned twice, had to request the second one. Dirty sock behind nightstand was a nice welcome. Fitness room is a disgrace. I could only drum up the courage to try a bagel at breakfast. The eggs and sausage looked disgusting. Price was right, but you get what you pay for. I went with the LaQuinta brand, have stayed in several over the years and they were great. This property fell well below expectations.

Nice hotel especially for the price. Offered extras most hotels at that price point don't. Excellent front desk service.

Was a good place to stay close to downtown but not downtown, close to airport, fastfood or shopping and restaurants casinos you name it you was minutes away. Quite rooms, big room, and breakfast was good never used the pool but looked good alot of tv channels to choose from. Close to highway I would stay there again.

For being right next to the airport, I didn't hear any planes overnight. I love that it has an option for 3 queen beds.

My room was clean and smelled good, unless someone was cooking in their room and then it stunk up the whole floor. Sketchy people hanging outside of the building.

Breakfast was cold by 6:30. It didn't start still 6:00. Potatoes and sausage were cold. Eggs were luke warm at best. Not a good fruit option.

Whatever you do, keep driving. King size bed sinks. As if they stuck 2 twin beds together but the middle literally rolls in. The weirdest smell throughout the hallway and our bathroom. Cat meowing........Only reason we booked was decent reviews on hotels.com plus their breakfast was highly rated. It's unfortunate when you pay $188 for one night and it feels like a $65 room. I should have dug deeper in the reviews prior to booking. Someone wrote that they found a wet hand towel in their bathroom when they first arrived to their room and we experienced the same thing. Odd. Pushed through the night to try and sleep. In the morning we went to get the breakfast that was included. Terrible. The gravy for the biscuits was cold. The whole thing was just not good, we had 3 bites and decided to simply check out at 7:30am. Huge bummer. Never again.

Wow! This place was great! Our room was huge and spotless. The bed was really comfortable, the linens were good, the staff were personable, the breakfast was much better and bigger than expected and the price was great. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Could use a better guide for the TV channels. Shower could use a makeover & water pressure was not very good. Great breakfast selections with friendly staff.
