One elevator broken and the other elevator incredibly slow. Rooms need an upgrade. Bathrooms are terrible with a shower that floods due to an outdated/poorly designed curtain rail. Should be glass doors! Rooms are tardy and dark. Poor window coverage from morning light.

Paid for a suite with three beds. Ended up with a king and adjoining room with two futons. Had to check into both rooms at totally separate times and place two different deposits despite having paid in full for our suite before we stayed. Great lobby but rooms are moderately clean, elevators are awful. Ended up having to use stairs most of the time. Not worth the money. Time to stop resting on the hipster laurels of your hotel and update some of your issues. Definitely start with training the front desk.

The Ace Hotel and staff made our stay so memorable. Such a cool spot with easy access to everything you need and would want to see in New York. The bar was slick and the bartender was excellent. Two days I was lucky enough to have space in the gym for yoga. Morning coffees and pastries were delicious and the daily cleaning service always made the room so inviting at the end of a long sightseeing day. I would recommend the Ace Hotel to all. Thanks New York. Til next time. D

The Ace, while I still enjoy it, is showing its age. The toilet did not flush and could be heard running overnight. The bath sink fixtures were wobbly. The luggage rack was wobbly. There was nowhere to park a car with a validated discount. Our room had scaffolding outside the window and the room was dark with no sunlight. There were large groups of bike delivery people loitering outside the hotel. Their lobby, location and overall vibe remain a favorite.

Fun decor, very masculine vibe. Smells like leather, very dark in lobby. Good location. Bed comfortable but base a bit futon like. I liked that there was a gym and bagel shop on site. Clean and I enjoyed pigeon visitors at window!

Despite what the listing says, there is only air conditioning AFTER May 31st. So during my recent stay, on an 80-degree day, I was informed the best I could hope for was a fan which they would provide. I waited two days and never got a fan before the end of my stay. There were two nights I was sweating in the room. The windows in the hotel do little to block out street noise, so earplugs are necessary for me to sleep. There is a reason why their price is so competitive. It’s a cool hotel with a great lobby, excellent shops and restaurants nearby, and the rooms have an appealing decor. That said, I think the hotel is long overdue for updating, refreshing, and configuring with climate control.

I’ve stayed at many an Ace hotel. On a family trip this time, we chose the Ace. I think I would have chocked it up to a bad room in a great hotel, except our family were in different rooms and everyone had the same complaints. Everything at the hotel seemed to be out of order, from the lobby Photo Booth to the ice machines. There was no hot water in any of our rooms, our faucet was hanging on by a thread (if you touched it the wrong way it was about ready to fall off). There is an accessible entrance but it’s locked all the time it seems so good luck to you if you need it. I think the low lighting is to hide how dingy the hotel has become. I do like how housekeeping comes every day and they did a great job. This is just no longer worth the price you’re paying. There are hotels that are nicer for a similar price.

The air conditioning was broken for the entire building through the entirety of my stay. The room was almost unbearably hot. And then there was no running water for a large part of one of the days. Not a great experience; recommend staying somewhere that's been better maintained.

Some basic details would have helped this hotel go from a very marginal experience to better. The first would be some sound proofing- we stayed on the 12th floor and could hear every street noise because the windows were old and not sound proofed. The second would be the condition of the elevators. With every trip up or down, the elevators grind and clink and there is a real fear ofbeing trapped. Finally, the "gym" was VERY hot and they had a peloton tread- while nice, required a code, was very rarely able to be connected to the internet, or working.

Thought this would be a cool spot as it was in a great location but it was extremely disappointing. Dark, dank and mildewy. Our room was really big but the bathroom was so tiny. The tub barely drained and was a mini tub. The carpet was really dark and dirty. Window didn’t close. Everything felt damp and smelled mildewy. It was a confusing place — do people live in the building as well? The lobby was cool and I think ultimately what draws people in. Really wanted to like the place as it was close walking to a lot of places but we hated it. Staff was lovely so not their fault but I would say not for us or a return visit, ever.

Its a total dump! It needs a MAJOR upgrade. The first room they put us in had NO windows. The second room had windows but old carpets and smelled musty. The whole place felt so dirty and dark. I'll never stay there again!

The room was filthy and I was too tired to say something. The dust was disgusting like dust the sliding door Needed to call at 8 am for a bath stop for the drain took 1/2 to get to me and I had to leave for my appointment. Last time I will stay at the ace as it's been my go to throughout the yrs

The lights in the bathroom did not work - we had 0 lighting in the bathroom and had to keep all the doors open and move a lamp into the room from the bedside for light. There was stained splatter on the wall next to the toilet in the bathroom. The tub wouldn’t drain properly and we were standing in a pool of water while we showered. The shampoo, conditioner and body wash bottles were not full in the shower. There was no coffee in the room. The mattress was uncomfortable. The room was extremely dark (aside from bathroom) and it was hard to do makeup anywhere in the room in the evenings. For $1500 for 4 nights we expected a much more comfortable stay than this, with much better amenities. The space felt dim, dingy and in need of lots of attention.

Quality of rooms continues to decline. This time the room was "bombed" with a cheap air freshener/carpet powder upon entry, heat was uncontrollably hot, roach scurried across my desk as I worked at computer.

The check-in staff were enthusiastic, but offered no real help when I didn’t have a physical credit card to check in with. (Even tiny guesthouses in rural India were able to enter the details manually!) The public areas of the hotel are GORGEOUS. The guest floors and rooms are dingy and tiny. The room is as wide as the length of a double bed. The tv is mounted right at your feet. No remote control was provided so the welcome screen glowed at me all night. Bathroom tap was leaking. Shower was rusty. Tiny patch of floor space the only place to put your suitcase. Thankful I was travelling solo! Not thankful for the exorbitant nightly fee, considering all of the above.

Room was very hot with thermostat and A/C not working. Room was tiny & difficult to get to far side of bed. Stayed on 5th floor & it took 10 minutes or more to get hot water. Lighting in room is inadequate and difficult to operate. View from room was back side of same building & rooftop with HVC & ductwork. Very expensive for a crappy room. I will not stay here again.

Large rooms, funky cool decor, lively and fun lobby. If you want to stay in Hilton with fancy mattress pads and oversize pillows, this isn’t your spot. But if you want a giant room with a turntable and records, guitar, Pendleton blankets ,full size retro frig PLUS a killer view of the Empire State Building. That and all the hipster action in the lobby make this 74 year old dude very happy. Plus my 27 year old son’s 1st trip to the Big Apple!

In mid May, when New York is sweltering, their policy is not to allow the air conditioner on in guest rooms until June 1. The room is like a furnace. There are solution was to offer me a fan to blow more warm air. The room is also quite small and not at all will lit. I suppose the fact that there’s a guitar in the room and a vintage fridge is supposed to overcome these deficiencies, but it didn’t work for me. Staff is excellent. But the whole hotel is dark1 even the lobby all day long is very dark and really in my opinion not very pleasant.

I’ve had great experiences at other Ace Hotels, unfortunately this one fell short. Booked a medium king and room was a decent size but there was barely any lighting so one corner of the room was virtually unusable. Bathroom was super dingy, cracked tiles, bad repair work. Shower was sooooo small and awkward. Street noise was crazy loud. Found someone else’s socks in the room under a table which made me question the cleanliness. Not all bad though. Bed was amazingly comfortable. All the employees at the hotel were helpful and kind. Good centralized location with easy access to subways. Overall, it was a decent stay but unimpressive compared to other Ace experiences. Feels like it’s maybe gone downhill.

Room was a lot smaller than expected. Air condition wasn’t working properly and room was very dimly lit. Could hear several other guests all night while trying to sleep. Wasn’t a relaxing experience at all. Probably the last time staying here. Has gone quite downhill from what it was.

Bathrooms are horrible. No ventilation. Shower curtains are short so by the time you're done, there is a pool outside. Needed to use new towels everyday to prevent water from entering into the room. Note: cleaning staff are aware and dont mind giving out extra towels for that reason.

Fantastic stay once again! Freddy at the front desk (in particular) is friendly and warm; all staff are the same! Clean as a pin, comfy bed. Lighting is mood. Terrific location for getting uptown or downtown, east or west. Recommend.

Paid for a suite with three beds. Ended up with a king and adjoining room with two futons. Had to check into both rooms at totally separate times and place two different deposits despite having paid in full for our suite before we stayed. Great lobby but rooms are moderately clean, elevators are awful. Ended up having to use stairs most of the time. Not worth the money. Time to stop resting on the hipster laurels of your hotel and update some of your issues. Definitely start with training the front desk.

The Ace Hotel and staff made our stay so memorable. Such a cool spot with easy access to everything you need and would want to see in New York. The bar was slick and the bartender was excellent. Two days I was lucky enough to have space in the gym for yoga. Morning coffees and pastries were delicious and the daily cleaning service always made the room so inviting at the end of a long sightseeing day. I would recommend the Ace Hotel to all. Thanks New York. Til next time. D

The check-in was a mess. We tried to check in at 2:30 and no rooms were ready so the lobby was packed. At 3 pm when rooms were finally ready there was a huge line to check in and get your bags. It’s unbelievable that they couldn’t check in a single party early.

Incredibly disappointed in my recent stay at the Ace Hotel New York. Before I even arrived, the front desk aggressively answered the phone, then left me on hold to never return. Experienced this during my stay with no one answering the front desk or housekeeping twice as well. The condition of the hotel has deteriorated significantly. Beat up furniture, stained carpet, crumbling grout. All 3 of the windows in our room seemed to be broken, allowing a steady breeze to come in from outside at all times. It was a cold stay. Both elevators were a bit dirty and did not smell good. Some of the staff I came across were fabulous - fantastic and friendly bartenders and a helpful and friendly guy helping with checked luggage. Overall though, I was incredibly disappointed with this most recent stay at the Ace New York with both the property and the staff experience. I've had great experiences at Ace Hotels in the past, but I definitely will be reconsidering any future plans.

I'd stayed at the ACE Hotel before and I enjoy coming back. When I asked Freddy at the front desk if our family could have a room with a view to the Empire State Building, he went out of his way to make it happen. The 28th street subway station is right around the corner, the Stumptown Cafe in the lobby is great and it's walkable to Times Square. And to top it off, I love the record player and album selections in the room. I will stay there again.

It was a great fun hotel. Very clean. It definitely is boutique with a curated old fashioned look to the rooms and bathrooms which is nice change from the standard chain hotels. Great atmospheric lobby with bar and coffee counter. Location that can't be beat either. Staff very attentive and helpful.

This is an amazing hotel, we loved staying here. The location is ideal, only 1 block away from the subway, 5th avenue and surrounded with amazing food options. We had drinks and dinner at the hotel and the experience was great too. The staff is great and always ready to help. Would definitely stay here again. My only comment is that the surfaces of the room were a bit dusty.
