Spencer Court

Parking was very difficult but that is what it is. Should have been told that it would be difficult. Parked 2 streets away.

Location perfect. Condition of the building...the place is falling apart...however:(It is a late Georgian/Regency period house) Bed comfy. Shower good. Room warm and dry. Cleanliness good. Hospitality good. Breakfast good.On street parking available. You get what you pay for.

Meal deal for breakfast, uncomfortable, diffecult to find parking space on the roads and noisy scaffolding covered in sheeting opposite my room.

The place cannot be described as a hotel. It is a B&B and a pretty basic one. The building itself was very rundown and in need of renovation. Our room had a nice view and a comfortable bed but we did not like the idea of the sink being in the actual bedroom instead of the bathroom. There was only a cupboard to hang clothes but no drawer space. We think it is misrepresented on your site as stating having a garden and free self parking. This implies that the hotel has parking facilities but it was just actually street parking. All in all not a great experience.

Room was comfortable, nice full English breakfast freshly cooked to order. The premises would benefit form some tlc. Located 10 minutes walk from the harbour. Parking would be a problem as all the local streets have cars on them. Staff very friendly and helpful

Great location, a five minute walk from the harbour, free parking, room had a few issues,you had to put the kettle on the floor , extension lead behind the bed , broken bath room door, cracked window pane never worth £100 a night

Spencer court hotel is a very nice old building.rooms are very clean and comfortable. ramsgate harbour is about 15min walk. my room over looked the front of property,had a nice view of the sea.very quiet at night and mornings.breakfast is very nice,staff very polite. Parking is random,you have park in side roads if you can't park in spencer court. I would definitely stay here again.

This is an old building and that was reflected in the facilities. Cleanliness minimal but bed was pristine and very comfortable. Nowhere to sit in the room, only on the bed. Guest sitting room, tired and minimal furnishing. There was a fridge with free bottled water. Owner welcoming. Breakfast very good, cooked to order. OK experience.

The location and host were excellent, however the room needed a proper clean. Everywhere was dusty, used soap left in the shower along with the previous users hair. Plug socket hanging off the wall and a window that could not be closed. Breakfast was amazing as was the comfy bed. All in all a pleasant stay but just needs a good clean.

Friendly staff, decent sized room, clean bathroom, good price, but stains on the sheets and needed a good vacuum in the corners.

Firstly, the staff member who I met whilst checking in was very polite, informative and kindly showed me to my room and carried my suitcase. The 'hotel' is in a nice position near the seafront on an attractive square in which Vincent Van Gogh once lived! Breakfast was ok. Not the best, but not the worst either. Helpful to have a mini fridge in my room too to store milk and drinks. Unfortunately the 'hotel', which it really isn't, hostel would be a better description, is in serious need of renovation. Whilst some attempt has been made to 'freshen it up' in recent years, i.e paper over the cracks, slap some white paint over plus some dodgy DIY bathroom fitting, it has been badly done and needs a proper overhaul. I was given room 10 in the attic, up a tight little spiral staircase. It was advertised as having a private bathroom, but I wasn't expecting it to be separate from the room, back down the stairs to some grubby little hole! The bedroom was covered in dated artex which had white paint roughly slapped over. The furniture was the cheapest you could buy and there were electric cables trailing everywhere! But the most frustrating thing was the windows didn't shut properly and the wind and rain whistled through all night and I didn't sleep well. The funniest thing was that I noticed the hotel had a framed 'commended' award given by the council proudly hanging on the wall by reception. It was dated November 1991! Says it all! Hopefully this place gets the TLC it needs one day.

Very tired and rundown hotel. Needs money spending on to bring it to the standard of similarly priced hotels.

Stayed with the purpose of doing the Pegwell bay parkrun the following day. The bed was noisy and old. Creaked with ever move. And despite my partner and I both being slim we sort of dipped into the middle of the bed. To add insult to injury one of the other (less savoury guests) were shouting their heads off at 4am and as a finale pee’d out the window directly outside of our window…. We could literally smell it. Definately a memorable experience, though defo not one id want to repeat.

Very good value and the breakfast is a bargain. Visiting in a heatwave, it perhaps wasn't ideal to be in one of the south facing bay window rooms with a sea view as it got quite hot, but any other time of year would be fine. The shower was a little on the small side but worked fine.

Loved the view over park. Centre of Spencer close and tennis courts. Lovely and clean with 2 comfortable chairs in the room. A little concerned about the condition of the decking for the small balcony. The kettle lead did not reach the plug from dressing table. 14 steep stairs. To help with this a hand rail is required.

However I was right at the top and the final short staircase is very steep narrow and twisted and on the way to the shower on Saturday morning I fell and wretched my arm trying to break my fall.

Great location, extremely friendly check in staff, lovely area. Comfortable bed and niceand quiet. Basic, but eveything that was needed. Free water bottles and chocolates in the lounge area was a lovely though

The hotel allowed us to check in about 45 minutes early The room was basic with a double bed and a shower/toilet room and a wash hand basin in the main room

Shared bathroom not ideal and up 2 flights of stairs. Condition of furniture in room poor. Cup and saucer and all the condiments to make a hot drink hut NO kettle. Room decor really poor. The only good thing was yound lad making and serving the breakfasts in the morning and doing it solo. He is a credit to spencer court. The breakfast was also very good.

Even though i only booked a single room, the owner did up grade me free of charge, but for the money i paid, i was very disappointed .

I enjoyed the location as so close to the harbour and seafront in Ramsgate. My room was comfortable and I slept well. The service was very friendly and efficient. The only thing I can say that the breakfast time was too late to fit into my day so I had to forgo it. I needed to be in Pegwell Bay Country Park at 8.30am.

Lovely setting, you become part of history as the building and the square has so much history. Breakfast was freshly cooked and you had many choices if you did not fancy a full English. Ramsgate is a piece of France in the UK with a lovely harbour and fine restaurants to be found. Ramsgate has a lot history and lovely buildings that date back many hundreds of years. Great bus service to plan days in neighbouring villages and towns.

I love these type of B&B’s. This B&B is steeped in history built in the 18th century, On the land owned by the Spencer family, Vincent Van Gogh also lived on the square, so this is not a modern hotel if that’s what you’re looking for, it has steep stairs and smallish rooms, but is full of character, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the hospitality was fantastic and the breakfast was delicious, the pub on the corner is very friendly and only a short walk to the beach.

Genuinely baffling that this place is considered 3* by anyone. On arrival, we were shown to room 7 (photos attached) - buckets on the floor to catch the rain coming through the ceiling, a massive water stain on the bed, a bathroom door that only opened from the outside (girlfriend was glad she wasn't staying on her own!) and a curtain rail falling off so you couldn't shut the curtains. The guy who checked us in was nice and friendly and moved us, but given they have 10 rooms and there was only 1 other couple there over the weekend, baffling they put us in there initially. Bit of a farce at breakfast too - partially my fault as I'd not read the blurb to say breakfast cost extra. We saw it was a B&B from the outside so thought we'd make the most of it. Only when we were eating were we informed that the (pretty grim, incorrect items of) breakfast we'd ordered were chargeable at £10 each! We'd have gone elsewhere if we'd known it was chargeable. Again, staff on the day were lovely and just felt bad for her having to be the face of such a poor place. Honestly baffling how this place functions. Would HIGHLY recommend finding somewhere else.
