Hampton Inn Manhattan-35th St/Empire State Bldg

Not enough dining space for breakfast; only one elevator working - other elevator out of service - wait took too long for 20 floors!!

This Hampton was very clean. The only issue is it's 20 floors and 1 elevator was out of service for half the time we were there. It took a long time to get on as it was always full. I was on the 11th floor so I did go down the stairs but I wasn't going to walk up!

Front Staff during checkin were very good. The Lobby and Space was well maintained and the breakfast space was well attended by those staying at the hotel but food was provided and well maintained. Two points on maintanance which i would raise. This is a 20 story Hotel with 2 elevators. Over the 3 day visit - one elevator went out of service and management placed a sign on the door. So - for the entire 3 days, everyone only had 1 elevator to go up/down (it would easily take 15min of waiting on your floor to get down to the lobby in the morning or around checkout time. The out-of-order sign was still there when i checked out. A second point - was that the AC in my room never seemed to work - even when the "cool" setting was set - the unit pumped out warm air all the time. I would complement the staff responsible for cleaning the rooms - they did an excellent job and were always friendly and helpful.

Good stay with amazing team of staff, only potential downsides are not enough elevators and breakfast room is maybe not big enough for the amount of guests at the hotel

Excellent place to stay close to everything, Staff was great. Wonderful continental breakfast. Would stay again. The only thing is the parking situation is confusing, You have to park in the lot a block away. The hotel only validates a $5 discount. So it still $45 out of pocket overnight. No in and out privileges!

Front desk very helpful but one of the elevators broke down and it took two days to get repaired unacceptable in a city like New York.

Excellent for convenience, transits few doors down and great breakfast. The staff is nice and always willing to assist and answer questions. Fresh delicious cookies at check in, teas, coffee, hot chocolate complimentary at any time of day in the lobby. There is a vending machine with some snacks and noodle bowls. Microwave available in lobby. Downfall they are strict with 11am check out, doors self slam to their rooms so you are guaranteed to hear them throughout the day depending on who your neighbours are. Elevators are packed around 9:15/9:30am as everyone is running down for the last hour of free breakfast. Black out drapes and a seated patio in front of the hotel is great.

My only issue was the fitness center. Working out is very important to me when I am in a hotel. The elliptical is in very poor shape, very noisy. The peloton is not working correctly at all. There was no TV remote that I could find and at one point both sets were on on different channels at high volume. The elliptical was louder than both. The facilily was clean. It could have more equipment.

Other than the location, there is nothing appealing about this hotel. Rooms, linens, everything is very dirty. Hotel for one time.

This was not a $300 per night room given unusually small size, lack of cleanliness (others hairs in shower) and dysfuctional a/c unit.

The location of the hotel was centrally located, and the desk agent was friendly each day. As a budget hotel room, it did have a good amount of room space and lots of outlets. The room seemed relatively clean, but the bathroom had some hair in the shower when we arrived, very slow moving drains and an inconsistent toilet. The beds were very uncomfortable (hard, squeaky, wire frame pushing up.) It’s all relative, but in my opinion this hotel cost more than it was worth.

Rooms were ready before check in time which was great but overall the rooms weren’t really clean there was dust all over the floors and pillows. Check in staff was nice and welcoming.

Two of us stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and experienced several issues. Our first room, 303, had a lot of street noise all night long. We changed rooms to the 10th floor the next 2 nights. It was quieter, but we requested a room with a view since this was our first trip to NYC, but got rooms with a view of an office building next door. There are no towel racks in the bathrooms. The beds are noisy and not very comfortable and the sheets in the second room were too small for the bed. We had Wi-Fi issues after we changed rooms. Our last morning there was no hot water and the front desk said it would be a couple of hours before hot water is available, then offered a mere $5 refund for the inconvenience. The A/C thermostat would not adjust. The breakfast area is too small for the number of guests and is always very crowded. The hotel location is very close to a subway, but otherwise not the greatest location. We will not stay here again.

You can’t beat the location it’s right in Herald Square which is a great place to stay because it’s convenient to everything I will say that this hotel is pretty old and if you’re looking for comfort, especially as it relates to your bed this is maybe not the place for you

Its conveniently located 10 mins from the times square. Clean and quite rooms. Small like most rooms in NYC. But most room views are blocked with a building in front. Even if you select city view, that does not guarantee open view. You need to be on floor 17 to 20 only. Even though they promised me an open view, I only got floor 16! Also breakfast is very very basic. Do not consider breakfast as choosing criteria, its not worth it.

Hotel is NOT sound proof. Nights are miserable.

Checked in and they gave me the wrong room. They fixed it but the new room had a horrible view and musty smell. had to keep the window open the whole time

Very convenient location with subway station just steps away and Herald Square also around the block. The property itself is a average. Our AC was not cooling well and they couldn’t fix it and won’t even give a fan to help us keep cool so it was bit difficult 3 nights with kids. Breakfast is good but it’s a very small space and gets really crowded so if you are not there early before 730 good luck finding place to sit and have a peaceful breakfast.

Room was clean, bed very comfortable, very well air conditioned on a hot day. Good shower pressure and temp. Check in was super quick and convenient. Only downside is that sounds travels very easily. I was apparently on a busy floor, and heard noise from next door and in the halls.

Great location - convenient to multiple subway stops, easy walk to Times Square and Empire State Building. Bed was fine, but not the most comfortable I've ever had.

Wonderful room with a great view of the Empire State building. Beds were comfy and the room size was perfect for our needs. Breakfast was plentiful and hot. Front desk staff was very friendly and went above and beyond to help out. Will definitely stay here again.

The staff were very helpful. Anything we asked for they were quick to take care of and were happy to do it. Breakfast was really good and the facility was clean and safe. The elevators were a little slow at times like in the morning when everyone was heading to breakfast but that wasn’t really that bad either. I would stay here again. It was convenient to all the activities we had planned as well as subway access right at the corner.

Terrible experience. The systems collapsed and there was zero empathy from the staff. They were dismissive and actually asked us to come back when their check-in system worked! Ridiculous. And zero effort for a service recovery too.

Guest arrival welcome was top notch! Gentleman let me store my luggage before my room became available for check in. Staff was friendly and supportive. Plus they offered cookies at check in!

Very much enjoyed my stay at the Hampton Inn. Got a room upgrade when I checked it which was a bonus. The staff was accommodating and even let me check in early. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay.

Not at all great check in experience, Were made to wait even at 2PM for check in, was not given higher floor, alll because booking was done with 3rd party.

The staff were exceptional in all areas! The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to many highlights. I liked that there was a dining area with water, coffee and tea 24/7 as well as a microwave which allowed for quick meals on the go when I didn’t want to spend the time to dine in a restaurant.

Everyone from the front desk, breakfast attendant (Louis) and maintenance was so helpful, friendly and attentive. The location was great for everything we wanted to do in Manhattan. Would happily stay again if we are in the area!

We loved the hotel's location. It was a 17-minute walk to Times Square, 5 minutes from the Empire State Building, and a short subway ride to the Battery and 9/11. The hotel and staff were great, but the location rocked.

This is a fantastic location. Just steps away from a main subway terminal. The included breakfast is decent and the hotel is always clean and the staff are very friendly. Tons to do within walking distance or a quick subway ride.

It was perfect location for everything we wanted to do. Min walk to everything from Central Park, Radio City and the subway.

The hotel exceeded all expectations. The staff was exceptional, the beds were immaculate, and the breakfast was delectable. It is an ideal hotel for first-time visitors to New York City.

Breakfast just ok

Not so special that it can be called a unique hotel - but the cross-section of visiting guests made it an interesting and pleasant stay; many foreign speaking visitors, all pleasant to meet. Nobody with their noses in the air like I have experienced at other, pricier hotels. Breakfast was good, just get there early... I will stay there again.

We went a bit early but they told us the room has not ready yet, also they offered to keep our luggages until we come back for check-in. Thats good. Small room, cleaned well except a few hair on bed.. A/C is EXTREMELY loud even when its off. Breakfast is standard, but the breakfast area is very crowded every morning. You probably cannot find an empty table to sit. Hotel has 2 elevators which is not enough, you should wait in the line at least 5-10 minutes to get in.

First time to NYC. Spent 4 nights at this hotel. Excellent breakfast every morning…it gets busy but they keep everything replenished, clean and lots of seating options…just need to be patient. Eggs, different breakfast meat every morning, hashbrowns, cereal, bread and bagels, waffles and really good coffee. Staff are always happy and helpful. Great with directions and advice. Room is clean and well laid out…there is some road noise but where doesn’t this exist in NYC! We had a great view of the Empire state building. The location is excellent - short walk to Empire, Macy’s (amazing at Xmas) , NYC library , Times, Rockefeller, St Pats , grand Central. Subway to get anywhere is literally at end of the street. We used it to reach Museum of Natural History, Met museum and ferry to Statue of Liberty. It can be confusing but after a 5 min explanation from the seasoned subway rider last at the front desk it helped simplify. I really appreciated the time they took to walk me over through all the options. Note that you can just tap your credit card every time you go onto the subway…loved that feature. We used the parking just down the street…great service and no damage to the car….it is $55/day with the hotel validating the ticket. Many great spots to eat nearby - highly recommend Roma pizza around the corner if you want a great New York pizza slice or two. We went back twice!
