Gym was below par. Machines broken. The room smelled terrible. Really bad mildew odor. If I was staying more than 1 night, I would have asked for a different room. The hall ways and ceilings need serious updates. When checking in there was no one at the desk. I waited about 10 minutes for the person to come to the desk (with a plate of food in her hands).

The reason I chose that hotel was because it had a pool and then found out when we got there that the pool was closed…even though it looked perfectly fine and filled with water. The staff didn’t tell me either, I read it on a sign. There should be some compensation for my stay since it was advertised as operational but was not.

We have stayed at this hotel the last 3 years- very convenient location, decent price, clean, and a lovely outdoor pool- which we love to use. This past trip the pool was closed- the person at check-in apologized but said "that info is on the website". I checked- no mention of the closure. In fact on the hotel website they state "enjoy the pool". Shouldn't i receive a discount?

Gym lacked almost everything a gym should have, if a grandma wanted to grab 15 minutes of cardio, that would be about sufficient. Most of the breakfast was cold, especially the very thin egg patties, which I ended up throwing out. Maybe the warmer was broken? The mattress was pretty firm compared to other places I stayed at. Also, the fridge didn’t work, my leftovers went bad because the fridge was either unplugged or broken. As for the positives, room was very modern and nice, looked pretty clean but you never know with hotels, I didn’t go as far as to black light everything. The staff was very nice, probably the best part of my visit was interacting with both the front desk lady and the cleaning staff. Although the hotel is pretty nice, it’s definitely not worth $200 a night!

Arrived to find that pool had been closed for two days and would be closed indefinitely. Upon check-in at 5 PM, I was not informed that Middletown Township was in blackout and that the hotel was operating on a generator. The generator failed at 6:15 PM with no estimate on when power would be restored. The property was uninhabitable. I checked out and moved to the Holiday Inn in Hazlet.

2 issues: 1) The outside door at the far end of the building is always unlocked. 2) The walls allow a lot of sound to pass through - I could hear people in the next room on the telephone. 1 Attaboy: The breakfast had "real" food, (eggs, meats, waffles, fruit, etc) which tasted fine and was fresh.

Everything I read in all the good reviews was exactly what we experienced. Clean rooms, nice staff. We checked in after midnight and even the night staff was lovely. Nice feature- there's a coffee/hot cocoa bar in the lobby available 24/7. Will definitely stay here again.

All was well until i took sheets off bed. Blood on mattress cover. Took pictures and showed them tried telling me it was makeup. I told them NO i know what blood and makeup looks like. Doesn't matter they should of been changed period. Only problem we had. Otherwise very nice. Room 231. Waited 1/2 hour for them to open pool to get belongings.

We had to switch rooms because there was an infestation of ants in our room. Told the staff and while they switched us to another room there was no a single apology with the staff seeming like this is a common occurrence at this hotel. The entire room and hotel was dirty looking. The next morning we even noticed more bugs in the bathroom of our second room. Absolutely an awful overall experience!!

Found and killed a cockroach in my room. When I brought it up to the front desk the clerk said. What would you like me to do about it.. it’s 2am. Customer service is a big factor for me and this was awful. When you pay 332 for a 1 night stay I would think this would have been handled way different.

The bathroom was very dirty. I saw several hairs on the bathroom floor and in the shower. In the pool area there were people making a lot of noise shouting profanities, that made it look bad. But overall the hotel is good, but I expected more. The staff in the lobby was very friendly. 👍

Had a problem with ants in bathroom and by bed area near night stand. Told the staff member who came out with some bug pesticide and sprayed. Problem by night stand continued. We left the next day not wanting to stay there with this problem

We’ve stayed at The Hub in Middletown, NJ twice. We love it! The rooms are QUIET, clean, very comfortable beds. All of the rooms have patios. The breakfast is great, hot eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, & so much more, perfect for families! All of the employees from front desk to maintenance to housekeeping were friendly/helpful. There are many stores nearby, perfect if you forgot/need anything. We have family in the area, we’ll be staying at The Hub every time!

The AC unit blows directly at the bed - very noisy and uncomfortable and it wasn’t just our room. Friends had the same issue. Vents should be directed upward. Put a pile of pillows on the bed trying to block it- didn’t work!

Beds were so comfortable I was surprised at how many pillows we had, the patio was great we had the basketball court right outside the door where the kids played, breakfast was good, coffee 24/7 would stay there again.

It was overall a nice place. It may have just been the time of year we stayed (7/3-7/5), but it was loud. They also had us directly by the door to the pool as well as our back door facing the pool. It was very loud due to people bbq’g and enjoying the pool. Next time I’d request not to be downstairs if I’m near the pool. We just left the TV on to kill the noise. Another issue was towels…specifically wash cloths. 2 washcloths for 2 people staying 2 days is not enough! It was really difficult to get more. I had to request them 4 times. Eventually my husband had to go to the lobby. Once a washcloth is used in the shower on intimate parts I do NOT want to then use it to wash my face. MORE WASHCLOTHS please. Towels aren’t as big a deal, but more washcloths are necessary. For what they charge nightly, that shouldn’t be an issue! Another issue that occurred was I had a random worker sitting on our back patio. We were downstairs and this hotel has sliding glass doors (which is lovely). What isn’t appropriate is a random worker sitting on our patio chair. I paid almost $600 for 2 nights. That patio and the furniture was mine while I was there. It was really creepy to look out the glass door and just see some random employee sitting there. What’s worse is there is a language barrier, so he didn’t understand me. Most of the maids are super sweet, but if you don’t speak Spanish it’s very difficult to communicate your needs with them. Altogether a nice hotel and I’d stay again!

Nicer than I was expecting. The room was spacious. The quick interactions I had with the staff were pleasant. Check-in was very quick. The room had a small sitting area (facing the parking lot) via a sliding door. The furniture is contemporary. The mattress was harder than I like and the platform/box spring would squeak getting in or out or sitting on the bed. Loudly. The remote for the TV didn’t work. The toilet tank was not properly connected to the bowl and would move when flushing. Didn’t use the following: food services, shower, refrigerator, microwave, body towels, dresser, armorie. The lobby was decorated nicely but the halls and rug are dated.

Extremely thin walls, so much so that I could hear my neighbors literally whispering. Very tiny showers. Sliding bathroom doors that allow for no privacy. No fan in the bathroom so moisture lingers and filled the room with mustiness.

Free coffee station at Reception. Bus stop just outside the hotel Supermarket next door Pros: Spotty wifi, if you can get it. Very Thin walls. You can hear all the noise from inside the building and outside. Not good if you're a light sleeper. That's about it. Only a couple of negatives which is not a deal breaker. I'm sure if you ask the reception to set you up in a more quiet part of the building, you'd be alright. And the wifi signal is strongest at the lobby.

The front desk was a mess. The people working there did not know what they were doing. I was charged multiple times for multiple rooms. All got settled but it was chaos, not to mention the night desk person does not speak english and my son-in-law had to use google translate to check in. Also the outdoor pool looked amazing but it was closed...and it was 90*.

Gym was below par. Machines broken. The room smelled terrible. Really bad mildew odor. If I was staying more than 1 night, I would have asked for a different room. The hall ways and ceilings need serious updates. When checking in there was no one at the desk. I waited about 10 minutes for the person to come to the desk (with a plate of food in her hands).

Found and killed a cockroach in my room. When I brought it up to the front desk the clerk said. What would you like me to do about it.. it’s 2am. Customer service is a big factor for me and this was awful. When you pay 332 for a 1 night stay I would think this would have been handled way different.

I’ve been traveling to this hotel site for about 30 years. Thru the years the hotels have changed. The Hub has updated the hotel and has made many improvements. What I don’t like is they are not amenable to early check ins. For that reason I may have to look for another hotel.

This was a terrible choice. We were in NJ for a funeral and we chose the HUB Middletown based on photos and recent reviews but the experience was awful. We were in the first room off the front desk right next to private entrance. This private entrance says key required but it was never locked which made me feel very unsafe. The room was directly below a very loud party that went on most of the night up and down the stairs as well as in and out this unlocked door. There were numerous people arguing very loudly in the parking lot just outside of our room. There were numerous bugs in the room and the bed was covered in plastic under the bedding. When we checked out after the first night no one even asked why we were leaving a day early. We will never stay there again!!! Staff was rude and unprofessional. We were advised we are not eligible for a refund no matter the circumstances as we chose to stay 1 out of 2nights. We are from NC and now after my aunt’s funeral we were seeking a new place to stay. Very stressful and upsetting!

Great Staff, and great breakfast. My only complaint is I wish there was more lighting in the rooms. It’s a great location though. Super close to the ferry if you’re planning on going into NYC at all.

I really enjoyed this hotel. I was able to take the bus to Smodcastle in Atlantic Highlands. It’s not far from the Middletown train station. I was there during the week so it was very quiet. Breakfast was very nice. Check in & out were very easy. There’s a grocery store within walking distance.

Everything I read in all the good reviews was exactly what we experienced. Clean rooms, nice staff. We checked in after midnight and even the night staff was lovely. Nice feature- there's a coffee/hot cocoa bar in the lobby available 24/7. Will definitely stay here again.

Beds were so comfortable I was surprised at how many pillows we had, the patio was great we had the basketball court right outside the door where the kids played, breakfast was good, coffee 24/7 would stay there again.

Gym lacked almost everything a gym should have, if a grandma wanted to grab 15 minutes of cardio, that would be about sufficient. Most of the breakfast was cold, especially the very thin egg patties, which I ended up throwing out. Maybe the warmer was broken? The mattress was pretty firm compared to other places I stayed at. Also, the fridge didn’t work, my leftovers went bad because the fridge was either unplugged or broken. As for the positives, room was very modern and nice, looked pretty clean but you never know with hotels, I didn’t go as far as to black light everything. The staff was very nice, probably the best part of my visit was interacting with both the front desk lady and the cleaning staff. Although the hotel is pretty nice, it’s definitely not worth $200 a night!

The rooms are nicely appointed and very clean. The pool is very nice with a lap pool area including floating lounges. Really relaxing. All of the staff are pleasant and helpful. The free breakfast which includes making your own waffles is delicious.
