Rodeway Inn Richmond West End

The staff was not very friendly and I lost money in vending machines and not even told how to get the money back...

Even thought we booked the room well ahead and paid in full, I was advised upon check-in that a $50 "security deposit" was required, which was totally unexpected. I was assured that it would be returned as soon as I checked out. When I checked out, I was told that the deposit would be returned to my card "in a few days". Not happy about that whole thing. If I had $ to spare, I wouldn't be staying at the Rodeway Inn to begin with. As to the room itself, it was reasonably clean, but had that air of "lipstick on a pig" - if you looked close, there were some pretty questionable elements, like a microwave with the interior shielding broken off and rust underneath (ewwww). The bed was clean and fairly comfortable, and all-in-all for a quick stay (we were only there one night), it was doable, but if I had to stay longer, I would pick another hotel. On the upside - even though we didn't go swimming, the pool looked really clean and sparkly, and the area around it seemed to be nice. One last thing - if you book a stay here, be warned - finding the entrance into the hotel is challenging, as it is not well marked. The Rodeway Inn shares the lot with the Econolodge, which is closest to the road. Look for the Econolodge sign on the front of the building, and turn in there.

Great. Loved the pool.

Pros - most of the staff was nice Beds where comfy Water pressure was good Pool was clean Breakfast was ok waffels, fruit, cereal and bread Frig and freezer in room Air conditioner worked great Cons - wouldn't let us bring waffels back to the room for the sleeping children so i had to wake the 3 of them up Pillows where tiny you only get 2 per bed Beds where tiny not queen size Onky 2 towels per room had to ask for more since there was 4 of us in one room

The checkin was horrible the guy was rude and hateful like he didn’t want us there. Also the picture showed a working pool which is why we wanted to stay. The pool wasn’t even half full of water and very dirty

My reservation was changed from travel lodge to Econolodge when I checked in. The more time I looked at the room the more dirt I saw. The floor was sticky and filthy. The room was filthy. There was grime on the headboard. The TV guide, the tv, the counters, EVERYTHING was sticky. Filth of some sort on a large portion of the main picture frame. The mounted soap dispenser had dirt and grime on it. The shower head fell apart the first time I used it. The door seal was non-existent letting light and moisture through. The room felt damp at all times, no matter what fabric you touched. The bagels were rock hard, the breakfast area uncleaned The level of gross was amazing.

Booked as Rodeway Inn but when arrived booking was a EconoLodge. Walls, doors and baseboards grimy, bedding had red stains, Holes in wall where stacking patio style chair instead of upholstered chair had bashed into wall. Bathroom was clean, breakfast was on par with most motels.

I had to get one of my rooms changed because there were BUGS in it and the bathroom was disgusting to start off. When I asked to change rooms I was given an attitude about it by the staff member up front. And yet the second one still needed new linens but when asked for linens the same staff member said “they did not have a key and could not get linens”. To top it off the other room we had had a couch in it that had MOLD all in and on it! My husband is disabled and it is DANGEROUS for him to be around things like that for prolonged periods! And not to mention another dirty bathroom , dirt all behind the toilet and on the toilet , a ring of dirt on the bathtub , used toilet paper and even a used soap bar still in the bathtub. And it doesn’t end there ! Pull back the sheets and find stains on the linens as well as some green powder in the corners of the bed for god knows what. I would never go back to this hotel and I was completely disgusted with the entire stay. Let’s not even begin to mention the noise levels all times of the night, we barely were able to get any sleep because of people fighting and screaming next door and people running around outside back and forth. I didn’t even get a working microwave and one of the rooms didn’t have a pull out couch like it was supposed to. I didn’t even feel safe here !

Was what we expected for the price. We did find 1 cockroach in the bathroom.

There was mold on the walls and in the bathroom .

I have rarely stayed anywhere, where there are so many roaches and the room was not clean

The room was clean and comfortable. The room ac unit had dial readings that had been worn off so it was hard to guess how to set the temp. Nothing fancy here, just simple. But everything you need for a stay. Had refrig and microwave. And the water was hot.

Very comfortable bed, but frame was a noisy tinny box. A/C and heater worked well. 42” TV but very limited Hi Def channels, the rest were terrible lo def. Refrigerator worked well and there was a microwave, but wasn’t used. Awesome water pressure in shower and toilet and sink were good. Hotel is located on a busy street, but located far enough away from road that noise wasn’t a problem. Breakfast was minimal and I didn’t partake except for morning coffee, which was good. Other offerings were: juice; bagel; cereal; and a waffle maker. Fresh towels and wash clothes were given every day of my stay and bed was made up every other day. Wasn’t anything fancy, but served my needs well.

Signs of homeless camps by the vacant lot in the front of the property. Creepers who watched me as I unloaded stuff from my car. They just stood in the parking lot and stared at me. Staff family members looked at us in a way that we felt unwelcome and out of place. When I woke up the next morning, I noticed there was some brown, hard stuff stuck to the wall by where I was sleeping. I can make a guess on what it was, but won't type that guess here. Dirty. A quick glance under the bed found dead bugs (not bed bugs, but obvious that the room isn't very thoroughly cleaned). The tv was snowy. I hadn't seen reception like that since the 1970s. Wifi was slow and unpredictable. I would never, ever stay here again.

Pretty surprised at how decent this place was. The AC was cold, the bed was pretty comfortable. It was really quiet too. Will stay here when i return to Richmond.

I’ve stayed here five times already and each time has been great. Live that’s its quiet! No complaints

I asked for a ground floor room and was told there were no ground floor rooms... and yet when I drove to the building, it has a whole ground floor. HUH??? Then the lock on the door didn't work well. The room was nice and clean, had a microwave and a fridge. At checkout I wasn't allowed to take my breakfast out, so threw it away. Silly rule.

Noah was a great help during my stay!

My wife and I stopped for the night on the way to a family vacation to Myrtle Beach and didn't want to drive the full 14 hours trip from CT. Checked in at 11p and was gone before 9a, and I was rudely spoke to by the gentleman at the desk. When I asked to speak to the manager, he snobbly told me that he was the manager, and I told him I would be calling and speaking to someone else.

The people were very rude! No continental breakfast. Lied to us about being booked up.

The staff was very accommodating when I requested a change of rooms when I detected hints of smoking in a previously assigned room. The surroundings are safe, the location is walkable to a strip mall with lots of dining options. Breakfast was decent. Worth the one night stay on the way to NC.

It was convenient flr an overnight stay because it wa snear a venue for a concert and i needed somewhere to stay overnight so luckily i found this place over a minth ago and booked ir because the room was for a very good price and it wa ssuoer spacious clean and nice overall, with great ac we surelt needed it, and it was quiet too

The place needs a really deep cleaning. The rooms were not as what they projected online. There were people hanging out everywhere drugs everywhere it was horrible. It was just me and my kids.

I’m new to the area, and I checked in a little after midnight, I noticed random people walking around the parking lot. One guy watched me get out of the car and walk to my room. I am a female and was by myself. Once I got into the room, the latch for the door was broken off. The staff were nice and refunded me for the rest of the stay because I felt unsafe.

House Keeping was EXCELLENT. Give them a Five Star. Woman at check in desk was "testy" and apparently did not want to be bothered. Give her a Minus Three star. She was leaving and the man who stepped up was a Five Star. Breakfast was only bagels, cereal and waffle. No protein. Stayed five nights.

About what you'd expect for the price. They change your towels but don't make the beds. They have a breakfast--but it kind of sucks: I'm not fussy about bagel quality, but they were really terrible. Vague smell of weed in our room. Still... it was dirt cheap and I was buying rooms for a number of students, trying to save the families money... so we got what we paid for.
