Courtyard by Marriott Portland City Center

Though the 2 lines looked long for check in, staff were fast, friendly and efficient! Our room was very clean, and bed was very comfy. Didnt use the $52/night parking. Instead, we paid $14 for parking that was about a 10 min walk away. Other than the ridiculous price for parking, our stay was fabulous and we'd book here again.

Be aware of the $52 a day parking fee. Nice hotel but a lot of homeless around. Staff was nice.

Bed and room were nice and it was helpful to have water and coffee in the lobby. Gym is somewhat basic. Good overall stay though.

Central location and I felt safe. The valet service was not cheap but convenient and the car was brought to the front by the time we got downstairs. There is a water filling station in the lobby so that was a plus.

Good hotel in downtown Portland. Walking distance to shopping and dining. Valet parking is expensive at $55/night. Rooms and spacious but starting to show a lot of wear

It is a nice hotel, I was sad to find out they didn’t have a pool and no parking unless you want to pay $48 for valet each use or you can park on the street which is limited because it is downtown. I found parking at a car park for $18 a day but it would have been nice to know the parking situation before I went. Also no free breakfast. It was very clean and comfy and the staff was great. The location is great and close to a lot.

Coffee maker had a used moist filter still in it. Hasn't been cleaned. Found what appeared to be rat droppings in the sheets. Chips in flooring, caulking moldy, discolored and peeling

The room was very clean as was the bathroom. Nice tv selection and beds and pillows were super comfortable. The restaurant food was very tasty. The staff were all super nice. Over all a very enjoyable stay!

Usually a satisfying and nice clean stay when we are here, this was suprising. Housekeeping and inspectors need to be a little more meticulous and time allowed to scrutinize the room with flashlights. Dirty carpet around the edges of room, bed especially having crumbs underneath. Dirty bathtub, hairs in tub and on floor. Some areas in need of dusting but otherwise a nice stay. Coffee carafe in lobby ran out fast, thankyou to staff for offering to grab us to-go cups from restaurant right away. Great valet service.

The room was dusty and the washroom is not clean.

The location is great and the staff are very friendly. The only issue we had was that the room was not cleaned thoroughly prior to our arrival. There was hair in the bath tub and some trash had been left behind.

I am writing to express my concern regarding the condition of the room we were assigned during our recent stay. Upon entering, we immediately noticed that the room was covered in dust. The shower had visible hair and a pink residue around it, which was quite unhygienic. Additionally, it was clear that the carpet had not been vacuumed, as there was noticeable debris throughout. This level of cleanliness is not what we expected and did not meet the standards we associate with your establishment. I kindly request that this matter be addressed, and I would appreciate it if you could take the necessary steps to ensure it does not happen again — either for us or for future guests.

Had a horrible stay here. My wife and I were there for 3 nights and the maid service never came to clean our room. On the last day all they did was empty our trash and throw a stack of towels on our sink. Didn't even bother to take away the dirty towels. Did not make the bed or tidy up. Also room had a musty smell. Spoke to manager did not offer us anything. Would never stay here again. There is a parking garage around the corner at Union Bank Tower, much cheaper and safe.

Quick and friendly staff. Room was pretty clean but the sheets were stained yellow when I came in.

The staff were all very friendly. The coffee bar in the room was dirty and the coffee maker was filled with old coffee grounds.

The bed was so nice I wanted to pack it in my suitcase

This place is in a great location and the staff are all amazing. Check in is easy, the people are so friendly and it's a quick walk to all the places I like to go in Portland. It's just such a good atmosphere! My issue is with the room itself--It was tiny. Like almost Europe tiny. That would have been ok but because it was so small the a/c vent blew air directly onto my face all night and I couldn't get away from it. The only solution was to turn off the thermostat. It's not my first time staying here and I remember thinking the same thing last time LOL. Not sure why I booked it again...

Normally, I opt to stay away from downtown Portland, however, I wanted to give the Marriott a shot. The room was quiet, clean and welcoming. The TV only allowed cable TV without the ability to stream from the phone. Not a big deal as I wasn't in the room much and didn't need the distraction. The hotel is situated perfectly for exploring downtown Portland with restaurants and coffee extremely close. Downtown Portland is getting better, however, walking around after dark can be a little sketchy with the high amount of homeless people. This was not an issue for me as I'm used to traveling solo with my head on a swivel. However, if traveling with small children, I'd opt for a different location.

WiFi was not good

The room is very clean and comfortable. Depending on the room, poor insulation to noise outside (close to the interstate) unfortunately. Would bring earplugs And WiFi is basically unusable, even the premium (would not recommend buying it). Had to leave for a coffee shop to work.

Valet parking was expensive but seemed much more secure than any of the parking garages in the area. Our room was a very strange shape and due to location let in literally no light with blinds open (1218) but was clean and the bed was comfortable.

We booked our trip over a month in advance on 7/6 for a two night stay. Arrived in Portland around 11:30PM after a five hour travel on 8/31 (we left in the special instructions we would be arriving late) after waiting in the check in line for approximately 40 minutes we we were told there were no rooms available (the people in front of us in line were sold an “available room” cause of a reservation mix up we are convinced this was our room. After asking if this was the case the woman at the front desk did not give us a straight answer and said it was a “computer glitch” We were told to visit a sister property and we could stay there instead. The stay was paid for us for inconvenience but I would like to express how frustrating and scary this is to travel out of state at night and be told upon arrival our reservation was no longer available. Imagine if there wasn’t a sister property to fall back on we would have been stranded for 2 days. However the sister property the Bidwell a couple blocks away was amazing and took great care of us my review is specifically for the original location that sold our room out from under us. 100% will be staying at the bidwell again. I suggest figuring out your online system and verifying rooms are available before selling them especially when people are traveling from out of state.

The staff at the hotel may have been the friendliest hotel staff I have ever been around. They would greet me when I was coming in or leaving, open doors for me, and seemed to remember me.

Receptionist was very rude and unhelpful …. Asked about breakfast and he said the restaurant was nothing to do with hotel so couldn’t tell us how much breakfast was 😳😳 parking valet was very rude when asked a question about alternative parking …….

The hotel is not in Avery good part of town. Many of the shops and stores around are boarded up. One street over is a homeless area. People sleeping on sidewalks and in tents on sidewalks. Walking outside the door of hotel confronts you with repugnant odours.

Excellent and convenient location. Walkable to everything. Staff was personable and helpful. Loved the food truck/biergarten a block away.

No issues with the hotel. Unfortunately Downtown Portland is filled with homeless people and drug use.

There was a lot of homeless

Great location and great value. Comfortable room and friendly staff. Short walk to the pleasant Midtown Beer Garden with multiple options for a quick lunch or dinner. Also not far from the MAX Light Rail stop on the line to the airport.

Great property = very walkable to everything in Portland.

Central location but sketchy area

Fantastic location for everything downtown. Like 5 minutes of walking to Saturday market, powells book store, the mall, and more! Also directly next to the beer garden with great food options all day. Staff were great and super helpful!

Location is perfect for downtown exploration however exercise caution when exploring alone and late at night in downtown Portland. Walkable to trains and bus stops. Room has one small window compared to other hotel rooms we're used to. Good bed and linens. Staff are courteous and attentive.

Great location clean and nice lounge for drinks and eats excellent service

My day was OK. The staff was very friendly when seen face-to-face, however numerous times I’ve tried to call down from my hotel room and did not get any answer. Anyone on the phone ice machine nowhere to be found and there was so many unhoused individuals who made the walk to and from the cornervery terrifying. Also, the bar closes at 9:30. Absolutely ridiculous. I wanted to grab a drink and a bite to eat and when I went downstairs because I was calling to see what time they close and didn’t get any answer so when I eventually walked downstairs, they had the sign that they were closed.

All positive experience except for restaurant staff who was easily irritated and was obvious about it and all I had asked for was extra sugar and milk ..

Everyone, from bartender to car valet, was friendly and helpful. Location is walking distance from places I am interested in (Paell’s, restaurants). My room was super clean,with lots of towels. The only downside is the restaurant is terrible. I hear it will be under new management soon, however.

Rooms were not ready when we arrived at 3:30. Check in was 3pm, room finally ready about 5. Apologized but no compensation. Housekeeping was late. Staff was kind and polite but still no room when needed. Rooms were clean with nice view. Valet service was quick although expensive. Restaurant was closed even though we were told breakfast would be available. Had to go elsewhere to eat breakfast.

The staff was very attentive, especially the valet service. The restaurant was great and the service was excellent. Downtown Portland was clean, and there were many restaurants in walking distance.

Good amenities and helpful staff. The restaurant downstairs was just what we wanted after a long day. A little dodgy walking from Amtrak, consider a quick cab.

The hotel is good value, and the staff are attentive. On site restaurant does a good breakfast at a reasonable price. Great start to the day. Talking with staff, it looks and sounds like the neighbourhood is improving. It has suffered the past few years, not unlike many other urban centres. Be aware of your surroundings and you should be fine. Great central location for many activities downtown. I would definitely stay again, and wish the neighbourhood continued improvement in the coming years. I’ll be back!
