Gretna Hall Hotel

Friendly staff and all reasonably modern. Room was comfortable but small with frosted glass windows. Booked based on presence of EV chargers but they wouldn’t work, leading to inconvenience. Breakfast could have done with being a little earlier.

Overnight stop on a trip to Inverness. Very comfy hotel- great bar. Nice breakfast, staff were excellent

Nice room, standard size hotel room, but beds are good. Bar and restaurant are nice. Probably good to check if there’s a wedding on, obviously this is a wedding hotspot, two on during our stay but we weren’t really affected by them.

Hadn't been to the hotel for about 8 years what a difference in this time bar area restaurant and rooms have been updated to a lovely standard and the staff are all dressed in there smart uniforms This is not to say we didn't enjoy ourselves 8 years ago it was just nice to go back and get a lovely surprise how much it had been updated As for our stay we had a warm welcome at reception and then with the bar and restaurant staff thay were all nice over our 2 day Stay Only concern would be the prices at the bar we noticed some of the people going out to the nearest bars to drink wasn't like that 8 year ago it was more in line with the bars around the area and was away busy in the hotel Other than this thanks for a lovely time

Very good overnight spot. Easy parking, interesting location. Decent breakfast. The hallway had lots of small staircases which was tricky with a pram and baby luggage. The bathroom in the room had a very mysterious heat source behind the mirror that was inescapable during the heatwave on the day. No obvious way to turn it off. But it was ok with the door closed.

Lovely reception at the desk. Lovely rooms and comfortable beds. But lots of stairs. Good selection of drinks at the bar, and not badly priced. Restaurant food was delicious but wine was expensive. Only downside was breakfast. It seemed to be short staffed (or maybe too many wedding guests for the number of staff) and therefore the selection of available foods was variable. So close but easy to improve.

It was OK. We were wedding guests so it was chosen by the bride. We travelled a long way so stayed two nights. Our bed was a standard double. I'm still getting over it,how did we ever cope before getting our king size. The shower doors were missing a runner so the bathroom flooded and the lift was broken and our room was on the second floor so we had to carry the luggage up, and then down again when we checked out. Breakfast buffet was good though

We booked our 3 night stay for our Wedding Anniversary. 30 years!! It was a lovely relaxing break. The staff are all amazing. Courteous, competent, friendly, professional and always willing to help. The lady who seems to be in charge of the restaurant (can't quite remember her name but she has been working at the hotel for many years) is so good at her job and seems to be so aware and supportive of the needs of both the clients and staff. The staff all go over and above to maintain the welcoming environment in the hotel. Our criticism would be;- The bathroom needs somewhere to hang the towels. The basic room was very small, making it very difficult getting round the bed without banging your knees on the dressing table. The mattress was a little uncomfortable with corded ridges. Very flat,basic pillows could be a little more luxurious!!! We reported, on day 1 that the bathroom radiator wasn't working but this still needs remedial work. If this was fixed you would save on heating costs as it would be sufficient without using the main radiator in the bedroom. Overall we had a lovely stay at the hotel, which was over and above with regard to cleanliness. The double glazing was also very good. We will return (and recommend your hotel to friends) but maybe in a larger room.

The experience wasn’t brilliant due to a small room which wasn’t cleaned thoroughly. There were coffee stains on the wall, dirt on the carpet and the bare was extremely small. Guest gather outside the hotel door to smoke which was directly below or window resulting in cigarette smoke smells in the room. The breakfast room was chaotic with only one toaster and coffee machine for all guests, resulting in long queues and cold food.

Staff brilliant. Breakfast good. Wedding meal Luke warm, bland, dry tasteless. Empty salt sellers. Felt like a bridal conveyer belt. Carpets in rooms dirty. Marks on all walls. Not the romantic wedding venue we expected. Not a four star hotel. More like a basic 3 star.

Didn't like : Cracked sink, mould in the bathroom. Bar staff condescending. The outside render is falling off and looks run down.

Room was nicely decorated, comfortable. Good tv. Shower room ideal for our needs. Breakfast was good, lots of choice and fresh. Only slight fault was noise of traffic as we had window open

We enjoyed our stay. Lots of weddings going on, as you would expect, so music tends to go on to midnight - best to have a room furthest away from the wedding reception. Good cooked breakfast with some other choices. Nice grounds and friendly staff.

Great service from all staff, spacious family room with great breakfast. We were on an overnight stay to break up a long journey - pity the family room is placed so close to the function room where we heard the thud of music for hours from a wedding reception.

The food was pretty good. The staff was amazing. Great story, but the rooms are no bigger than a very small dorm room and needs serious updates. Pillows are old and flat. The room was not big enough to even put two suitcases down on the floor. The bathroom was so small. I couldn’t even take a shower in there because I was so claustrophobic. With that said. The staff is amazing.

Very convenient stop when travelling on long journey between North and South. Comfortable bedroom with the tiniest shower room, truly tight even for the average sized person.

Really friendly staff that can’t do enough to help you. Hotel was clean and tidy as was the room. We had a family room which was spacious and comfortable. My only suggestion would be to freshen up the mattress on the sofa beds as it wasn’t the comfiest sofa bed I’ve ever slept on.

We went for our 5 year anniversary as we married in that hotel 29.11.20. We advised the hotel of this st the time if booking. We were given an adjoining room to a suite and although the door was locked you could hear everything ! Breakfast was limited they ran out of items. No ketchup at all.

We were in 101 which was compact but first impressions was it was clean, neat and tidy, but no controls for the heating so was very hot during the night and when you opened the window the traffic noises was so loud and so we didn't have much sleep by then the room was claustrophobic

Staff could be a little more friendly and smiley, but overall stay was lovely.

We had a small family room and the sofabed was very uncomfortable and basically the springs are damaged. We received an email from the hotel asking if we were interested in an upgrade. I emailed and asked about the offer but the hotel didn't respond to me.

There was confusion on room availability after a very late booking, the staff were very apologetic and helpful. They helped resolve the issue very quickly.

We only stayed one night en route to the highlands, but this was enugh for us to know the hotel is in a good location (near the outlet), the staff is helpful and the room was and clean.

What a beautiful place to stay. It exceeded our expectations. 5 minutes walk to the Blacksmith shop. Rooms were comfy clean spacious and very well equipped. The service outstanding and breakfast the best I've had for a very long time. I would love to visit again. Thank you

Food was a very good standard! Prawn cocktail and shin of beef were lovely. Good hot buffet in the morning also. The bed and pillows were very comfortable.. slept really well. If I am ever needing to stay in Gretna again, I would stay here.
