4 star hotel but the rooms are quite tired and need a refurbishment. The bath had mould and bath panel wood was badly swollen due to water damage and this was a premier room. The Tv is tiny especially if you’re trying to watch from your bed. The staff are all very pleasant. I ate in the restaurant and the food was very good. Parking is charged at £12 per night and spaces are very limited.

We usually stay in Premier Inns but decided to stay in Stevenage's Holiday Inn this time. Pros. The building is kept very clean and the room we had was spacious, bed was comfortable and we had a very nice walk-in shower room. The air conditioning was excellent. Room had plenty of storage and a safe for any valuables. The staff were all very friendly and helpful ( especially the young lady who booked us in ) You get two key cards and you need one to activate the electricity in the room...the card holder is just inside the door. The breakfast was extra, £10 for a full English breakfast which was very good. There is very little parking and it costs £12 to park on site overnight but there is a multi-storey car park across the other side of the dual carriageway which is cheaper. Cons. The hotel was nice and clean. The rooms were a really good size for 2. Food and drink was a quite pricey but good quality and tasty. My only issue really was …and wasn’t parking. There are a select number of about 15 parking spots on site that are first-come-first-serve. But across a main dual carriageway road is a multi-storey that’s really cheap. So not a dealbreaker but not as convenient. And may suck a little during winter.

Good stay with friendly staff. We had opted in for breakfast for one of the mornings. Wasn’t that great in terms of choices and variety. Specially the coffee was poor. Rest was pretty ok. The rooms let sound from the neighbouring rooms. Thats a bit annoying. The hotel parking costs GBP 12 and hard to find a spot.

Nice hotel, just what I needed and convenient for football stadium. I made sure I got there earlier to ensure parking space as there’s not many. Wasn’t aware of £12 parking fee. Had accessible room which was spacious. Not a very nice view from room.

From arriving to leaving the hotel staff were welcoming and helpful. The staff are definitely a credit to the hotel. Modern and spotlessly clean. Enjoyed our breakfast each morning during our three nights stay, lots of choice and well presented. We definitely recommend this hotel.

Air conditioning didn't work on one of the hottest nights of the year . Reported it to reception on returning from a family celebration at11.30 pm and was told to give it time to work. The lovely girl on reception on checkout apologised and said he should have rebooted it . The bed and the pillows were also really hard . Had an uncomfortable night even though we were given a fan.

First thing on this review I'd like to highlight is the staff. The staff all went above and beyond to help us with the issues we had during our stay. All staff we helpful, polite and welcoming. The room This is where the issue started. After a long day travelling we unpacked and looked forwrds to a nice hot shower. The shower only ran freezing cold. We reported this to reception who sent somebidy immediately to inspect the shower to see if this could be rectified. U unfortunately this could not be fixed and we was asked if we could change rooms. This meant repacking to move. We got into the second room and checked the hot water tap and it was running hot, so we unpacked. My partner got in the shower and notice that the shower fittings around the bath were lose and after a few minutes this shower also ran cold. Again this was reported to reception who were super apologetic. We was moved for the 3rd time this time to an upgraded room with a hot shower. We was also provided with complementary food and drinks for our troubles and a complementary night. The staff really did help the best they could. Check the shower temp before you unpack. I am going on from here, to another holiday inn elsewhere in the country and got to say I'm a little apprehensive.

I stayed at this hotel recently and unfortunately had an issue that significantly affected my comfort. The bathroom did not have a motorized ventilator or fan, which meant there was no proper airflow. As a result, unpleasant odors from the bathroom lingered throughout the entire room. While the staff were courteous and the room itself was otherwise clean, the lack of proper ventilation is a basic amenity I expected, and it made the stay uncomfortable. I hope the management considers installing bathroom exhaust fans or improving air circulation in the rooms, as this would greatly improve the guest experience.

I placed an order with room service that took a while. When I called and spoke to the same lady again she told me there was no order for my room. When it arrived they had waived the tray charge and provided me a soft drink FOC. I stated in one of the recently refurbished rooms. It was spacious and comfortable. However the noise from the street outside was quite bad. I would have thought that the windows would have been sound proofed. Staff were very pleasant and friendly. I was in a rush at breakfast but the choice and quality was a good standard.

We’ve stayed at this hotel before so we knew somethings about it in advance. Clean comfortable rooms and friendly helpful staff. Special mention must go to restaurant staff member George who went out and got my wife gluten free bread for breakfast as they didn’t have any that morning. Together with a lovely lady called Sue breakfast was tasty pleasant and fun! Reception staff were very polite and professional. We would use this hotel again if the need arose.

My checkin was fast & efficient. I was offered an early checkin for a small additional cost & was given a free upgrade. The staff were friendly & welcoming. The room had all the basic amenities but what delighted me was the fact that they not only provided shower gel & shampoo but the best hair conditioner I’ve ever had in a hotel stay. The bed & pillows were comfortable. Convenient location to town & the shops. Mine was a good 1 night stay. Would be happy to stay here again.

Arriving earlier than expected from Sunderland, the hotel reception team quickly provided us with options to pass the time, whilst working with housekeeping to have a room prepared, leave our luggage and park the car. Doesn’t sound like the extra mile, but after such a long journey, it was very comforting to have somebody take control and manage the situation. In the restaurant, the breakfast team provided excellent customer service, were friendly, polite and courteous, attending to our needs (even providing train timetables and advice on tickets) and of course an excellent breakfast.

Due to excellent rail service into London we chose Stevenage hotels instead of central London to stay as they were far cheaper. This Holiday Inn is convenient and value for money and just a 5-10 minute walk to the railway station. Trains very frequent and can be in central London within half an hour. Would do again.

Considering I was not looking forward to Stevenage the hotel had to be good. I wasn't disappointed. Although it's near a main road it was quite quiet and I was on a low floor. It is perfectly placed right next to the small, but interesting museum and the underpass that takes you straight into town. The staff are welcoming and warm and I was very pleased with how spacious and well decorated my room was. The restaurant open most of the day until 10 is really rather good, and a well stocked bar, neither of which I would consider pricey. It was a great stay in all and I even warmed up to Stevenage. I'm not planning a trip to Stevenage any time soon, but I would certainly stay again, if that changes.

While the hotel can’t control external factors they’ve chosen their location, the dual carriageway main road the hotel sits on is the nicer than Stevenage town centre! Walking through it at night it’s literally full of rats from the dirt & debris. It’s all very concrete and oppressive, a place in urgent need of rejuvenation to match the quality of the hotel.

We usually stay in Premier Inns but decided to stay in Stevenage's Holiday Inn this time. Pros. The building is kept very clean and the room we had was spacious, bed was comfortable and we had a very nice walk-in shower room. The air conditioning was excellent. Room had plenty of storage and a safe for any valuables. The staff were all very friendly and helpful ( especially the young lady who booked us in ) You get two key cards and you need one to activate the electricity in the room...the card holder is just inside the door. The breakfast was extra, £10 for a full English breakfast which was very good. There is very little parking and it costs £12 to park on site overnight but there is a multi-storey car park across the other side of the dual carriageway which is cheaper. Cons. The shower room had a very noisy drain. You could hear loud gurgling when the rooms beside, or above,were using their showers. Walls could have had better sound-proofing perhaps. Apart from those two niggles, we were very impressed. Will book again.

Good stay with friendly staff. We had opted in for breakfast for one of the mornings. Wasn’t that great in terms of choices and variety. Specially the coffee was poor. Rest was pretty ok. The rooms let sound from the neighbouring rooms. Thats a bit annoying. The hotel parking costs GBP 12 and hard to find a spot.

Tiny room, swivel chair losing covering, bedside light sparking and sizzling - dangerous. Not allowed to eat in dining room as had been used for private function and not cleaned. Had to have the limited bar menu. Carpet in bar covered in food debris. Was rather disappointed as expected better. Steaks were good, though.

Very happy with our weekend stay. Room and bathroom were clean. Air con was a welcome addition in the summer. We were provided with bath and face towels, extra pillows, iron, ironing board, hangers, a safe and two chairs. Also had the usual tea/coffee and kettle. The included breakfast was very good with a good range of options. On site parking is limited and it’s £12/night. But the council-run parking across the road is larger and £7 per use for hotel guests (validated by the reception every time you want to exit). Only improvement I would suggest is to have an additional hook in the bathroom to hang a second towel or to hang clothes.
