Really good. Great staff and super location. 10 minute walk into Winchelsea via footpath in the lay-by. Excellent parking and dog friendly rooms available.

Lovely clean friendly place with restaurant and bar onsite. Bit like a travelodge but more personal. Rooms clean and comfortable but otherwise basic. Slept really well but decided to skip the buffet breakfast and go to a cafe nearby

Place was ok all in all. Good location, parking was tricky. They don't take peoples car registration so on first night had someone working there knock on the door waking us at 10.45pm asking if a car was ours that had blocked the entrance. Poor thing had to knock on everyone's doors and wake them up to go home. Same thing at breakfast, someone had parked inconsiderately and people couldn't leave. Rooms are ok but tired, clearly able to hear neighbouring rooms. Bathroom shower from the 70's but water pressure good. Electric shower sounded like an aircraft trying to take off. Breakfast poor. Not enough staff to clear tables or restock. Telling people, - no you will have to wait for me to clear tables and now I am too busy" may be honest, but gave a really poor impression. Outside between rooms are quite nice, but the fountain is covered in slime so heavy that run over the edges.

Relaxing stay and wish we had stayed longer and commuted to other destinations. Staff very helpful, breakfast met all of our expectations and more! Easy free parking on site a plus. Swan suite well appointed

We arrived Friday night & were warmly greeted, explained how everything works etc & given access to the WiFi which was very good. It’s a lovely hotel, all the staff are very friendly staff, very clean, nice bar selection & food too! For Friday night dinner we ate in the hotel restaurant Spikes, I had the beef burrito & my husband had the mixed kebab, both cooked freshly, chips & slaw were good too. On Saturday morning we ordered the full English which was freshly cooked, the continental selection was brilliant, cold meats, cheeses, plenty of fruit & good bread selection, lots of fresh juice, tea & coffee etc. Our room was very nice, very clean & usual accompaniments like tea, coffee, biscuits, hairdryer, towels, hair & body wash provided too. Our only little thing is we came for breakfast at 9:35 Sunday morning & they were already packing up the continental selection for the carvery. We were still able to have cereals, toast & juice etc & was still offered a hot breakfast from the menu too but I would maybe suggest to see which rooms are yet to arrive for breakfast & if anyone had not yet come, maybe wait until the stated 10:00 finish time to then start packing away. It just felt as if we were causing a bit of inconvenience tbh. We only ordered sausage sandwiches & they came out freshly cooked but unfortunately the bread wasn’t buttered & not cut either. It was a bit of a disappointing Sunday but only a minor setback to a lovely weekend. Thanks to all staff, we will return!

Great welcome from Ollie and Lee, breakfast was usual (excellent!) standard and room comfortable & clean. The new beer garden is really taking shape and loved spending the evening socialising around the fire pit with other guests. Can’t rate the lodge highly enough - never disappoints!

Just the kind of stay we wanted as a couples night away. It was quiet, views were amazing and did have some sunshine too. The rooms were great with the patio. We had a fabulous evening meal here at the onsite restaurant and breakfast which was great. Service was excellent. The only niggles were the fridge in our room needed a clean inside and we could not get any service on bedroom tv for netflix. Appreciating that we stayed at the end of the season, the beautiful pots on the patio could have been weeded or plants in, as the front of the properties plants were well maintained. The views are amazing and even empty pots would have been better.

Breakfast was good. Sleepingroom was o.k., bathroom needs refurbishment, specially for the price of the room.

Beautiful location, lovely rooms, really clean, location is great, great friendly staff, very welcoming place to stay. I would definately recommend this place, comfy beds, lovely shower/bathroom. quiet groundfloor room with lovely water feature, plants and decor. Breakfast is lovely, so much choice with yoghurt and fruit included (which I love). There is a cooked breakfast, toast, juices, pastries etc.......I could go on and on as so much choice. Cant wait to visit again. Outstanding, 10/10

Overall the property is ok ..staff nice… nice location easily accessible to lots of areas near the coast. Walls are a bit thin and our bathroom was dated and a bit dirty

the breakfasts were good, could have our choice of cooked food ( cooked to order) and all food was well presented. The bedroom was okay though the mattress and pillows were hard. Although the hotel is on a busy road the room was quiet. However the bathroom was tired; the washbasin was coming off the wall, the radiator was rusty and there was some mould in the shower. When we arrived, we were advised that they were short of housekeeping staff but if inbetween times we ran out of toilet rolls etc, should ask at reception. When after 2 days we did ask at reception for more toilet rolls and clean mugs, we were told fairly abruptly, that it was their policy not to service rooms during a stay due to covid, nothing about short of staff. We have stayed at several hotels since covid started and have not come across this before. We felt bad about having to ask. I thnk they are generally short of staff as one guy seemed to be doing everything. In conclusion the food was good and while their current housekeeping policy in in place okay for a one night stay.

The bathroom is a wet room which is fine however mould in the grout lines was taking hold, probably due to being short staffed. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay again. (For a third visit)

Absolutely disappointing stay. The room was incredibly cramped — barely enough space to move around. The beds felt cheap and flimsy, with uncomfortable mattresses where you could feel the springs digging into your back. The bathroom was basic to the point of being bare — leaking taps, barely any water pressure, and just generally poor maintenance. We requested a standard midday checkout, which most places offer without fuss, but the staff were unhelpful and insisted on an 11am checkout, which felt petty and rigid. For £118 a night, the experience was nowhere near worth it — I’ve had far better stays at Travelodge or Premier Inn for less than half the price. Overall, not recommended. Save your money and book elsewhere.

Lovely placd with restaurant and bar on sute which was good as there was nothing within walking distance. The room was vefy modern and comfortable the bathroom coukd do with updating but considering how much time you spend in there it's not really a problem. We had room 17 which was first floor and on the end so we had a balcony which was nice to sit out at night but there was no light.

The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. The rooms were tidy, clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was very good with a good selection.

Stayed for one night only whilst travelling down the coast. Nice property, very convenient. Checkout however was a bit tricky as needed to leave very early, but reception was closed...

The staff and owner made our stay memorable, their attention to making sure their customers needs were met, the rooms were very clean, the restaurant menu was very good and was freshly cooked. This is an ideal place for artists and bird watchers the view from the room is unbelievable, also the bird life sight and sound is brilliant. Can't recommend the Lodge enough. There are places

The hotel staff,especially Violet, went above and beyond to accommodate us and make our stay pleasant. Breakfast is cooked to order and extremely generous. Fresh fruit and variety of juices are available. Fields behind have a swan.

Nice and quaint. Service in restaurant was very slow but waitresses were really good and explained the wait when we sat down and kept us informed so they were brilliant, however over and hour and a half to wait for 2 meals was unacceptable.

Disgraceful hotel management!!! My colleagues arrived at the hotel to find it completely closed, all the were lights off, nobody was in the hotel and there were cones across the car park! We had to book into a different hotel. 30 minutes later the hotel manager called my colleagues to say he had opened the hotel by which time it was too late! He then declined to refund our booking and told me that my colleagues were lying, my colleagues have stayed there in the past and it was at their request that we booked this particular hotel, there is absolutely no reason for them to lie! The hotel manager spoke to me like dirt and for this reason we will never stay there again!

The property was in an easy place to find ,very near to the main road . Rooms were away. From the road noise . Breakfast was very good the sausages were very tasty , I didn’t like the toilet roll holder,not good ,but roll ok.

Convenient for Rye.

I didn't think the food in the evening was up to expectation but the breakfast was very nice . The room was very nice and clean .

The room we had was at the rear overlooking fields the bar and restaurant were comfortable and the food was good

Hotel is nicely situated for Rye and the surrounding area. Comfortable, friendly, and stayed for 3 nights. Food is good, and the breakfast sausages are exceptionally good! Looked forward to them! Evening meals are of good quality and quantity and discovered a really great lager that was new to me called Madri, which you might think is a Spanish lager, but it's, a joint venture and brewed in Tadcaster, Yorkshire! Would recommend the Hotel for a friendly, adequate and convenient place to stay. Great for couples, its quiet and staff and management friendly.

We had a great stay! It was a last-minute booking and ended up being such a nice surprise. The room was lovely, and the breakfast was amazing—easily one of the best we’ve had in the UK. The staff were super friendly. We really enjoyed our time there and would definitely come back.
