Breakfast was great, some were just happy with the buffet, cereal, fruit yoghurt, toast, juices but the full english was really good and you could choose any combination of the full english, cooked fresh specially to your order. We only ate in one evening and the food was ample and beautifully cooked. Bar prices were good, not near as expensive as many hotels so nice to stay in on an evening. The original features of the hotel are wonderful, some reviews suggest modernising but that would ruin such a historic building. The only downside for me was the mattress and pillow's could use an upgrade and I prefer carpeted room but minor niggles. We will definately return.

The property is unique with an interesting history. The staff were friendly and helpful, decent large bath towels, oh what joy! Stunning views including the dolphins. Peaceful & quiet away from the bustle of town. Delicious meal, well maintained property. Not much choice for non alcoholic non fizzy drinks. No elderflower for instance.

Nice one-night stay in room with brilliant sea views. Pleasant owners and staff, very good and plentiful breakfast too. Pub grub style evening meals nothing fancy, but tasty and good portions. Room fairly small but nicely decorated. Some of the communal areas retain attractive historic features, but some aspects are now just dated rather historic. A few areas where maintenance is needed, e.g. several blown glazing panels in the conservatory dining area and also some aspects of the car park and grounds. Overall, more 2 to 3 star rather than the 4 star but had a good time and would recommend and return.

This is a small hotel - about 10-12 rooms. Very limited menu and very basic choice for breakfast (I suppose you can’t have a big choice if there are only a handful of guests!). The restaurant is open for breakfast for about an hour and also for about an hour in the evening for dinner. The small restaurant/bar has very limited seating - so you’re asked to move/make way for others if you’re only having a beer! Nice view of the sea from restaurant. Viktor the waiter definitely wins in his work - he is the only person morning & night that serves you - and he serves you well. Overall, this is a small hotel that is a 3-star at best. Not sure why Expedia would rate it as a 4-star! The rooms are dated but acceptable. There’s ample parking for the small hotel.

Very pleased with the service, excellent. Comfortable down stairs around the bar and dining area. Again service very professional. My only concern was the bedroom and bathroom are very small. Difficult to access and function and out of scale with the rest of hotel. Lovely views over bay.

Lovely old fashioned hotel in a great position for incredible sweeping sea views and also proximity to Barmouth ( 15 min walk). Owners can’t do enough to ensure you enjoy stay without being over the top. Room was very comfortable and breakfast was tasty. Bar/ conservatory is a lively place for a pre dinner drink.

Nice hotel, friendly owners with car parking. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent. The room was a bit "compact", not much room to move around and the bathroom was tiny. I would certainly recommend the hotel, nice location high above the town.

Although the room was not cheap, the bathroom was unclean and the overall condition of the room was very tired. Pillows were flat, windows were grubby. Breakfast options were very limited, with few healthy choices available. Most concerning was the sheer number of cameras throughout the property, which felt intrusive and quite unsettling.

Our room was extremely tired and dated, desperately in need of some tlc. Plaster from the ceiling had fallen down and was caught in the dirty blood stained linen that draped around the four poster bed, had the linen not been there then the lucky person lying underneath it would have had a nasty wake up call!! Undeniably the castle has spectacular views which is what you are paying for.

Enjoyed our stay at the lovely location. We had a good evening meal and breakfast which were both good quality and freshy cooked. The hotel is very clean but the shower is very small in the no 2 turret room. Plus the bed is very hard .

The hotel was lovely, it reminded us of a national trust property and the stained glass and the views over the coastline were amazing. The staff could not have been more helpful, the room had a four poster bed in an actual turret and beautiful views of the coast out of both large windows. The breakfast had buffet options and the food itself was very good quality. Highly recommended.

We had a nice stay at this hotel; friendly staff, nice food, good sized bedroom and lovely views. We had a standard turret bedroom and whilst it was spacious, the en suite was really small and felt like a shower had been squeezed into a room that used to be a toilet room. There was no space to swing an earwig let alone a cat! The toilet had a cigarette burn on it and the lid on the plastic cistern didn’t fit on the tank. There were no towel rails and no comfortable space to get dry after a shower or get dressed. The state of the fixture and fittings in the en suite was dated and in need of updating. We DID have a nice stay at this hotel.

We enjoyed our 3 night break in room 5. The views were spectacular from all 3 windows. Bed was comfortable and room a good size . I have marked it slightly down for 2 reasons. 1. The bathroom is tiny, quite difficult to manoeuvre, but functional enough. 2. Breakfast. The choice of cooked breakfast was limited to full breakfast or parts thereof. Porridge was available but not on the menu. Eggs were undercooked until we asked for them more well done. It’s a lovely location , good parking ( if the other residents park considerately). Easy to get into town with a nice walk though a nature reserve to the beach.

Fabulous stay as always. Nice warm welcome. Nothing is too much trouble. We had a lovely evening meal. This is why we keep coming back! And also for the Great views!😍

Really friendly welcome and throughout our stay. Made to feel really comfortable. The room was amazing, with seaviews. Restaurant was relaxing and the food really good. Including the breakfast. Great location for exploring the area and only a short walk into Barmouth.

Lovely characterful castle with stunning views and car parking. About a 15 minute walk into the centre of Barmouth. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Good breakfast and friendly, welcoming staff. I would stay here again.

Lovely old fashioned hotel in a great position for incredible sweeping sea views and also proximity to Barmouth ( 15 min walk). Owners can’t do enough to ensure you enjoy stay without being over the top. Room was very comfortable and breakfast was tasty. Bar/ conservatory is a lively place for a pre dinner drink.

Nice hotel, friendly owners with car parking. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent. The room was a bit "compact", not much room to move around and the bathroom was tiny. I would certainly recommend the hotel, nice location high above the town.

Unusual Victoria hotel high on the hillside above Barmouth and the sea. Splendid views out to sea and across the the Llŷn Peninsula. Loved our stay here.

Wonderful view out to sea, lovely staff and absolutely perfectly cooked breakfast. Hotel location is about 15min walk from centre of town and up a hill although there is a bus stop close by so it would not be hard to take a bus instead of walking.

Breakfast was great, some were just happy with the buffet, cereal, fruit yoghurt, toast, juices but the full english was really good and you could choose any combination of the full english, cooked fresh specially to your order. We only ate in one evening and the food was ample and beautifully cooked. Bar prices were good, not near as expensive as many hotels so nice to stay in on an evening. The original features of the hotel are wonderful, some reviews suggest modernising but that would ruin such a historic building. The only downside for me was the mattress and pillow's could use an upgrade and I prefer carpeted room but minor niggles. We will definately return.

Although the room was not cheap, the bathroom was unclean and the overall condition of the room was very tired. Pillows were flat, windows were grubby. Breakfast options were very limited, with few healthy choices available. Most concerning was the sheer number of cameras throughout the property, which felt intrusive and quite unsettling.

Lovely overnight stay here. We ate in the restaurant and the food was first class. Nothing fancy, just simple food, generous portions, cooked fresh tasted delicious. Breakfast was excellent too. Service also excellent. Only reason for 4* for comfort was because the mattress was too hard for our liking - but this is purely a subjective view. We would stay here again.

This is a small hotel - about 10-12 rooms. Very limited menu and very basic choice for breakfast (I suppose you can’t have a big choice if there are only a handful of guests!). The restaurant is open for breakfast for about an hour and also for about an hour in the evening for dinner. The small restaurant/bar has very limited seating - so you’re asked to move/make way for others if you’re only having a beer! Nice view of the sea from restaurant. Viktor the waiter definitely wins in his work - he is the only person morning & night that serves you - and he serves you well. Overall, this is a small hotel that is a 3-star at best. The hotel was lovely, it reminded us of a national trust property and the stained glass and the views over the coastline were amazing. The staff could not have been more helpful, the room had a four poster bed in an actual turret and beautiful views of the coast out of both large windows. The breakfast had buffet options and the food itself was very good quality. Highly recommended.

Great hotel on the outskirts of Barmouth. Quirky, with lots of carved wood and panelling. Service excellent, cleanliness good. All staff very friendly.Had three evening meals, all good and very reasonably priced. Cooked breakfast good, adequate cold buffet. Would certainly return.

What a find - very quirky property with an old world feel. Fabulous views, lovely friendly hosts. A well presented and tasty cooked breakfast along with plentiful selection of help yoursel, toast yougurts, cereal and fruit was served in the pretty conservatory with amazing sea views over Barmouth bay. Our room whilst quite small had everything we needed and a patio door out onto the balcony which again had fantastic views. The entrance to the property with its large studded door is very impressive leading into a victorian hall with stained glass windows, tiled floor and a magnificent wooden stairway. Just a couple of things to note, wallpaper in bedroom had a couple of loose areas, Main door to first floor very squeeky and we could hear it from our room. However this did not mar our stay. A littls PS a couple of chairs and a table on the beautiful balcony would have been the icing on the cake.
