The Olde Mill Inn Basking Ridge

Beautiful historic grounds reminded us of some B&Bs in Cape Cod. The hotel restaurant, The Grain House, was built in 1764 and painstakingly restored.

Beautiful inn with a quaint restaurant on site. We loved the dinner there and the room was clean and updated. We enjoyed our stay.

This hotel is a gem among other local gems. It is underrated in my opinion as it is a hotel that has been updated but with the realization that its charm is in its architecture and public spaces to be enjoyed and taken in. The room was very nice but hanging out in the hotels public spaces made the stay very memorable. The Breakfast needs some improvement but it was adequate and free

Nice traditional inn, very English in style. On a quiet road. Restaurant was hosting wedding so we had to drive out for supper as no room service - nice taco bar close by. Breakfast was ok - no bacon or hot food. Bit motel quality food which let the place down.

Lovely old hotel which has been updated. By the highway and busy roads but you don't hear the traffic inside. Nice free breakfast 70's is inappropriate and distracting. Staff is friendly and helpful. Piano available to play in upstairs lounge. Nice garden. Upscale restaurant on the other end of the parking lot.

Beautiful public sitting rooms. Comfortable room. Loved the l'Occitaine toiletries! Love the small deck overlooking the courtyard. Would definitely go back.

Nice, clean place but right off the highway, so there is road noise. Restaurant across the parking lot had great burgers and a fun pub feel. We came back to the hotel and sat by the outdoor fire in the courtyard- very cute and relaxing, but would have been nicer if there was a bar in the hotel (or we had thought to bring a bottle of wine).

Olde Mill Inn facility was a nice enough property. However, they had a wedding scheduled and we were given a room within the group of wedding party guests, and even worse it was above the venue/event space. The music was extremely loud. And when I called the desk after 10PM, I was told we shouldn’t have been placed there but it happened sometimes, and the music should stop by 11PM. It did, but there were wedding party guests in the talking in hallway until after 2AM. We checked out at 6AM, but the clerk said she wasn’t able to do anything to make up for our terrible stay and she’d have the Front Desk Manager call. He and I did speak. He make a weak apology, but he said he was unable to make any adjustments to my charge for the unfortunate stay because I had booked through Expedia. Never again.

This is a very attractively landscaped and appointed motel. Nice contrast to the modern trend of prison-like Spartan-like quarters. We were pleasantly surprised.

The staff was friendly a check-in was good however, the room bathroom has a terrible sewage smell. The phone doesn’t work. I was very disappointed with the cost of the room and those factors.

Front desk employees are excellent. When my card wasn't working Michael Boye went above and beyond to ensure the issue was resolved in a timely manner with minimal inconvenience. He was very courteous and helpful. The hotel room was very clean and well maintained.

My wife and I really appreciated how comfortable our room was. Perfectly clean and fresh. Very generous and thoughtful toiletries and towels.

Rooms were very clean and had plenty of towels and soaps. Staff was friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was fresh and good.

Perhaps because of late booking our room was ground floor facing a busy highway. It smelled of cigarette smoke and air freshener. Other settings here seem far lovelier.

The ambience is excellent. Beautiful property. Outstanding restaurant within walking distance. Only detractor was our beds in room 244 were kind of bouncy. Shaky frame or old springs -either way clean, but bed could have been more comfortable. Inconsistent with the otherwise outstanding accommodations.

This place is quaint, nice, and fantastic. QWe went to a wedding celebration and the staff really made us feel well. The rooms are fantastic, I was honestly impressed with the quality of the rooms!

The inn is beautiful from the outside. Went there for a wedding. The reception for a different wedding was a few floors under our room. It was extremely loud until after 11:00 PM. The air conditioner kept going on and off. We couldn’t get a good night sleep.

Despite a wedding, and being right next to major highways, our room was so quiet! I was pleasantly surprised how sound proofed it was. The courtyard view was nice too and clearly buffered the noise of the roads.

I grew up in this area of NJ and now live in Colorado. I come back to visit/take care of my parents and this hotel is close to where they live. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

All staff was friendly, a fellow from the front desk even helped me with my laptop getting it connected to the Wifi.

Property is pretty, very quaint and clean. Restaurant is not attached. You either have to drive over or take a nice walk. Depending on the weather, it may not be so nice of a walk. Service was subpar in restaurant and hotel at best. There was a wedding there during our stay so it was quite chaotic. All guest facilities were unattainable because the wedding was using the space. Ridiculous. We were able to use the gym or sit in the lobby area, that was it. Wish I would’ve known that before I booked as there was not much to do. Unfortunately, our room was right above the wedding reception. We listened to & felt the vibration of the DJ till almost midnight. Room was clean, decent size. Dined at the detached restaurant. Did not enjoy the walk over. Restaurant closes early. Our entrées were quite bland. Nothing special. Service was unprofessional. I asked the waiter if I could substitute the vegetable that came with my entrée for a different vegetable, his reply was “I don’t care” When we asked if there was a specific type of condiment at the bar, he laughed and said, “I doubt it.” One cocktail each, 2 appetizers, 4 entrées and a dessert cost $280 w tip. Complementary buffet breakfast included. Nice spread but very small space. Maybe 8 to 10 tables. So if the hotel is full be prepared to stand w your coffee & pastry. Also, breakfast staff not friendly. Asked employee to help w coffee urn, under her breath, she called me stupido. Pretty place at best but don’t think I’d return.

The inn is lovely, a welcome respite off the highway. The restaurant is good, nice variety of offerings. The breakfast at the inn was adequate: fresh fruit was welcome, eggs tasted rehydrated. The inn is surrounded by highways so it’s quite noisy on the grounds and no sidewalks for walking in the area.

The old mill inn was a beautiful stay close to the highway but away from noises. Traveling all over the east coast it was a nice surprise to find an old classic gem. We will stay there again for sure.

The Olde Mill Inn is quiet, comfortable, and a lovely place to stay. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. The front desk staff is always nice. I've stayed here several times and would highly recommend it.

It's such a lovely place. It's where I stay when I go to one of the magnificent Ross farm music programs, which has been running for 10 years now at the historic Ross farm not a mile from this facility. They have national acts each summer and it's a joy to be there. Staying here makes it all the more grand. The only thing I missed this year was that beautiful wooden pencil or pen that they leave in the room that is so reminiscent of this fine establishment.

From the pictures, I thought this was a quaint little place, not quite like the usual motel/hotel that you find by the freeway. It has history, but the rooms and the setup is essentially just like any other motel next to a freeway. The rooms were on the chilly side, with no way to adjust that I could find. I think I'll just go to the usual places by the freeway next time -- not an unpleasant place, just not quite as special as I expected from the name and the pictures. Everything was competent and professional, no complaints there.

The hotel was very nice. Wish there had been a hot breakfast on the weekend days. Enjoyed the Copperpot pub and the ambience of the hotel. The bed was too soft for my liking. But overall a good stay and I would stay there again.

My wife and I have enjoyed the Olde Mill Inn for many years when visiting family. It is a pleasant hotel that above all makes you feel at home. It offers a great breakfast to start your day, we just wish the old breakfast offers are brought back after it was scaled down as a result of Covid.

We loved our stay and would highly recommend this property. The rooms and staff are top notch. The breakfast is much more than a standard continental offering. Also the associated restaurant is a must visit. Everything we were served was creative and full of flavor. Look no further. Book in here!

Really nice historic hotel. The staff was nice and the grounds were beautiful. My only complaint was the breakfast was underwhelming in comparison to the cost of the room.

We got to the hotel at 830pm was told the tavern was serving until 9 got there at 845 ask to be seated workers arguing because they wanted to out at 900 did this right in front of us, walked out
