This hotel needs some serious upgrades with no elevators, a pool that needs to be cleaned, and carpets that need to be replaced. It was a gem in its heyday but has fallen into disrepair. We were under a boil water order during our stay.

We had a very nice stay at the Lucerne Inn. We slept well because the beds were comfortable and it was quiet. Dinner was excellent and the staff was accommodating and genial. Considering the amazing location of the inn, my only disappointment was due to the fact that our window looked out into an enclosed wedding venue. I will look forward to staying there again.

The setting was wonderful and nice views. Hiking trails a short drive away. The staff were very nice. The hotel is quaint but lacks amenities. The TV was old and difficult to watch. Bed was comfortable. There was a small pool. Looks like a great place to host a wedding.

Can’t really comment on the surrounding area as it was very foggy, but looks like it could be lovely view! And too bad so cool temps as the pool would have been nice for a morning swim. Staff were great; breakfast plentiful, beds and linens comfy. Only question: we were on the ground floor and outside our large window was a huge party tent attached to the building, presumably for events; and the lights inside the tent are on 24/7, which meant we had to close the heavy curtains completely (normally we like a bit of natural light and airflow). So, wondering why lights can’t be turned off? Also waste of electricity when tent is empty. Other than that, recommend staying.

A lovely property in a beautiful area. Our room in the Carriage House building was pleasant with great beds and air conditioning. We enjoyed the pool and gazebos. We didn’t have a chance to eat at the hotel-owned food truck but I saw a chicken Caesar wrap with curly fries that looked excellent. Highly recommend!

The property was what we needed. It is a nice older hotel. Most of the issues are stated upfront like no elevator. The downsides are the lighting at the street is not very good and if you are not familiar with the area it challenging turning in at night. The hotel does not staff someone at the breakfast to add dishes etc. They are very attentive if you go to the desk and ask for help.

Booked hotel in August for October vacation and the main reason for staying was restaurant and bar onsite. However the restaurant and bar were closed on the night we stayed despite the advertised signs saying open nightly from 5-9. Our room was not in main hotel instead located in adjacent building. The breakfast was limited food options from 7-9 am. I would NOT RECOMMEND this hotel for these reasons - very disappointed.

However, the lack of soundproofing was a major downside — I could hear both the neighbors and the traffic clearly. Also, be aware that there’s no elevator, so if your room is in the cottage rather than the main building, you’ll need to walk up 2-3 floors by foot, which could be inconvenient for some guests.

Older inn needs some upgrades. Carpeting old and dirty/stained, especially on stairs. They must use an artificial scent cleaner for the carpeting - strong and unpleasant smell. Bed wasn’t comfortable. Continental breakfast was pathetic. Would not recommend.

Love this place. We stay here once or twice a year. The only thing this time we found little black hairs under the toilet seat. Like alot. Like someone shaved themselves and left the hairs there. Beds are great and the male owner is not really friendly but I am not there to hang with him. I dont think I have ever seen the woman who owns it now

The bathroom sink didn't drain, the bathroom fan was very noisy, & the shower head wasn't adjustable even though it was supposed to be. Shower curtain had a few black specs - mold? Linens were clean, convenient to restaurant - good food. Good continental breakfast.

First night I found the bed was lumpy and made alot of noise with every movements, I requested another room which they accommodated me but was told all beds bought same time and probably would be the same, bed was fine for the remaining 3 nights although smaller then a queen, was alittle hard to get use to.The continental breakfast was frozen jimmy dean sandwich in a plastic wrap to be microwave, cantaloupe, and box cereal. Coffee was very good.That was ok for one day but the rest of stay we went out for breakfast. It was odd to walk through dining room with your luggage to go to our room. Very quite place. Staff and owners very nice and pleasant , except for bartender who wanted to go home at 8:00 pm. Apparently he had a long day. We would probably not stay there again

Unique "old style" hotel located about 40 mins from Acadia National Park. Nice view of the lake from the room. While clean, the room just wasn't very enjoyable for us. We didn't sleep well as it seemed the mattresses left us tossing and turning. Older TV, and furniture seemed worn out. Staff was friendly and checkin/checkout process was straight forward.

Pros: Big room. Thick towels. Nice breakfast. Beautiful grounds and view. Cons: The building is pretty old. The floors squeak very loudly and there is quite a bit of traffic noise, but we had the fan running on the air conditioner to drown it out and slept well.

We were given a room on the basement level on a back hallway. We had to empty a dehumidifier twice that was in the room and the desk chair was ripped and dirty. Our view was of tables with chairs stacked and an event tent blocked any view. The shower was old and shower curtain rod was rusty and caked with lime. The cabinet door was falling off. The dining room above was noisy until 10pm. Steep stairs to traverse to room.

There was a very pretty view from our room. Bed was comfortable. The room air freshener was toxic. My eyes itched and I had trouble breathing. We kept the windows wide open. The fireplace didn’t work. The TV was fuzzy. The continental breakfast was not impressive and there was no water available for tea (of which there were only 2 bags, one of which was decaf). The staff person was very curt about providing it and then it was not hot. We were disappointed. For the price, even Best Western was better.

The staff was friendly and accommodating when we needed to leave a vehicle there after checkout, so that we could take one car to a graduation. They also allowed us to borrow umbrellas in case we needed to wait in the rain to get into the event.

Front desk lady, wow very rude…scolded me and my wife of 47 years like we were kids or more so beneath her. Started out the inn has a carousel horse on the deck….my wife sat on it, no signs or ropes saying do not touch. Walked back into bar/restaurant area and that is where she unloaded on us. Went back to our room to pack up, came back up and ask her name but she said she doesn’t give her name out found out who she was at check-out, the front desk lady, the older one. Traveled a lot, one of the rudest people I’ve ever met. I would NOT stay there just because you might run in to her. Ruined our stay at a nice place.

Purchased with online with orbitz and Lucerne Inn was aware and receptive when we got there less than an hour later. I say this because I’ve booked and showed up like this before and 3/4s of the time the hotel will say “we don’t have you in our system”, meaning they aren’t keeping themselves up to date. Lucerne staff was welcoming. Even upon returning later from a movie, reception asked, “so did you have a fun evening?” as we walked through the front door at around 11pm. We would definitely use Lucerne as our place to stay when in the area of Bangor again.

I enjoyed this place. I think the word for it is charming, maybe quaint. The owners have put a lot into it. The morning staff was grumpy while the evening staff were mostly charming. But in their defense, a lot of the morning staff was also the evening staff!

There was no hot water to use the whirlpool bath tub. When we went up to brunch office staff ignored us. My husband had to ask where the brunch was. We were told no brunch and they keep talking amongst themselves. Free continental breakfast was included and we couldn’t even get that. The staff was simply horrific. Will never go back again.

The setting is breathtaking no matter what season you are there. The service, however, is lacking. They offer continental breakfast daily (except when there too few guests) but never tell you that or change prices when they don't offer that. The staff was not apologetic nor accomodating when asked about this. No big glaring issues but the small details tend to add up.

We got there late, but the staff was super sweet. They did charge extra for having a 5th person even though i booked one room for 5 people on expedia. Also, their was no hot water. They said it was being worked on at 11:30pm when we arrived, but it was not fixed the next mornimg before we left (around 10am). I would have appreciated it if they would have at least waived the additional charge for the 5th person or at least a verbal appology for the inconvenience, but they did not. However the property is unique and the back yard views are gorgeous. So inspite of no hot water and the unexpected additional charge, it was a good place to stay between the airport and Bar Harbor.

We chose the Lucerne Inn for our visit to Bar Harbor and Acadia Nat'l Park. Although it was a good 30 minutes away, the drive was well worth it. The property is just gorgeous, both outside and in. The staff goes out of their way to be helpful. And the price for the room is very reasonable considering what you get. Highly recommend.

This was a really cute spot to stay in on our anniversary trip to Bar Harbor. The room had everything we needed. The view was great! It is a decent distance from Bar Harbor so an easy drive into town with lots of cool spots to check out along the way. Quick drive into Bangor as well. Everything was really clean and the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating! Gorgeous property.

High on nostalgic charm and beautiful surroundings. But that’s it. Hotel suffers from a need of maintenance and updates. No elevator made for a difficult climb up 2 flights with heavy luggage and no offer of assistance. Room had no fridge, no microwave. Very limited TV and WiFi was so bad we had to use cellular for any online activity. Continental breakfast consisted of a few pieces of fruit and a couple of cereal choices. Had to lift up on room door to get it to lock. Furnishings were old and run down. Extremely disappointed all the way around. A shadow of its former glory.

Wonderful Inn, convenient location to local attractions. Drop dead views! Onsite restaurant with terrific pricing and plenty of options from pub fare to an 8 oz. filet! Room was clean and quaint. Too cold this time of year to enjoy the outdoor options but they include decks, gazebo and a pool. Looking forward to another stay this coming summer!

Just wanted to get away for a few days. Reasonably priced. Unbeknownst to us, the owner checked us in himself. Very friendly. The restaurant wasn't open when we arrived due to the season, but he gave us some recommendations in the area. They were great. We ate in the Lucurne's restaurant on our last night. They were very busy. The staff was very friendly . The food was outstanding.
