Loved the lodge-style restaurant so much we ate there all three nights and the location near the national park was great. Only complaint: windows very drafty and it was quite chilly when we visited at the end of November. Only one of two hot tubs was working and it was weak.

We recently stayed here for a short trip and overall had a good experience. On arrival, the staff were friendly, professional, and made check-in a breeze. Our room was clean and had everything we needed for the trip, though it was a little smaller than expected. The location is great. The town itself isn’t very big, so everything is within walking distance. The hotel’s restaurant was a highlight. It’s clean, welcoming, and serves great food. During our stay, breakfast was offered as a buffet due to the number of guests, and it didn’t disappoint. In the evening, we enjoyed a few drinks and a delicious pizza by the cozy fireplace. Service was friendly and quick, which made it a lovely experience. That being said, there were a few downsides. We wanted to relax in the TV room one evening, but the remote didn’t work and DVDs were scattered everywhere, some without cases. The rooms could use some maintenance, our bathroom sliding door’s bottom guide was loose, causing it to jam, and the toilet paper holder was barely attached. The bedside table drawers also didn’t close properly unless slammed. The property is older, which means quite a bit of creaking at night. Sound travels easily from the unit above, and footsteps were particularly loud. Overall, the warm service, great location, and restaurant made it an enjoyable stay, but a few maintenance fixes would make a big difference.

Third time staying here as it has been a convenient stopover on long drives to charge the EV. Unfortunately the hotel EV charger was out of action, I hope this will be reinstated

SPA needs to be fixed or additional HOT Tub could be installed.

WOW! What a hidden treasure! This is what I was expect to stay at in this kinda location. A very small locally owned hotel that has incredibly friendly and warm staff. Everyone was so patient and helpful with our questions and things to do in the area! Having a laundry room was so helpful cause we got so wet during our hike in the rain.

Friendly and helpful staff. Would have liked a smart tv in the room and more spa facilities as only one was operational which meant there was always a queue. However we enjoyed our stay,the food was amazing, the restaurant's atmosphere was fantastic and the kids really enjoyed the dessert.

This is a gem of a hotel in the National Park Village. We loved the location, Spiral Restaurant and the communal gathering areas in the restaurant and bar. Everything was super clean, staff were capable and friendly. The views of the mountains at sunset in front of the hotel are special.

Overall nice stay, and would stay again. The staff and the restaurant were nice. Only one spa was going. The beds were comfortable. The cleaning needs a bit of upkeep perhaps.. there were live larvae and dead larvae shells under our beds. We noticed this as our daughter lost an earring so we had to move the bed to find it… wish we hadn’t of done that. Otherwise nice place, handy to the mountain and great facilities close by.

WC was taking ages to fill water, toilet was too tiny, and carpet was causing rashes. Not a pleasant stay. Housekeeping was also not done, despite the promise to do so

This was fine for our one night stay as we moved through the country. I have owned/operated my own cleaning company for 27+ years so it's true that I may be a little over the top but I did feel like the corners and places that matter could have been a bit cleaner. The rooms are pretty small but the beds were comfortable. The doors are on the cheaper side and a little drafty. If someone wanted to get into a room, the door wouldn't be much to stop them. Thankfully it doesn't seem to be that kind of place. Most of the staff was friendly. Just a couple who did seem like they were a bit put out w/their job. Again, it's fine for a night but that's about it.

You can tell the rooms are a bit worn down but still functional. The room I was in had a very strong body odor scent that made the stay somewhat unpleasant. The restaurant onsite is amazing and the food was incredible. Hotel is also near gas station/convenience store, coffee/food truck with really cool owners, and a couple other restaurants. The town is really small so you can’t expect too much but for what it is it was a great time!

It’s a ski hotel. Convenient for the Whakapapa ski field. Each room has one oil heater.

The bathroom is a bit small.

I was disappointed with my stay at the park hotel. The room itself was warm with the radiator on, nice shower and comfy bed. However, the main issue was with the noise. You could hear absolutely everyone walking about the place and it was really loud at all times of the night. This led to a poor night's sleep and being tired the next morning for a long walk. I wouldn't recommend staying here

The room was quite noisy due to people moving around upstairs. Otherwise the staff was very helpful with planningand booking the alpine crossing.

Great stay. Just be aware that bathroom is small, which makes dressing after a shower near impossible. Friendly Reception and Bar staff, lovely meals in the Restaurant.

Rooms are comfortable and cosy. Oil heater kept the rooms warm and when off, room kept it’s temperature. Value for money with a great restaurant in the complex if required. A good base if you are wanting to be close to activities and the mountains.

We stayed in a ground floor room. Unfortunately we could hear everystep the people above us made, which made for a vert noisey stay. Other than that it was excellent. I would not stay again if we had to havd a ground floor room

Nice staff. Ok location. The room has zero noise proof. We can hear neighbours conversation.

When we booked the room, there was no clear indication that children would be required to have their own beds or that they couldn’t share a room with parents. We stayed the first night without any issue, and only on the second day were we told we must pay for another full-priced room, or leave. We did not stay the second night, and yet we were charged. The hotel’s failure to communicate this policy at check-in, combined with Expedia’s lack of clarity during booking, resulted in significant stress and additional cost to our family.

Friendly helpful staff who provided info on local area. Comfortable reasonably priced variety of rooms with access to free drying room after coming from snow. Will definitely stay again & highly recommended

A guy entered our room around 2:15am. I open my eyes a little bit to see his face but I can't recognized it. I was so nervous and scared that time so I didn't ask for help from my parents coz the first thing in my mind is that what if he has a knife or gun that he can use to kill us. He sat to our bed where I and my son sleeping. After that he stand up and turn on the light and open the door for about 2-5mins and then he go upstairs where my parents are sleeping, I don't know if what he is looking for. After a few minutes he went downstairs and leave our room. After he leave our room I immediately locked again the door and went upstairs to wake up my father and I told him that there is another person who entered our room. My father immediately went to reception but no one is on duty, he also ring the manager's number twice or thrice but the manager didn't pick up the phone to answer my father's call. So my father decided to call 155 at first and then the staff told to my father that he should call 111 for immediate response of an officer. The officer arrived in a minute and he also tried to ring the manager's number but still he didn't pick up the call. We went to our room with the officer and explained everything. Until now we are waiting for the update of cctv footage from the hotel. It's the first time I've encountered that kind of situation. My son was traumatized on what happened earlier, he don't want to sleep that time and he is crying thinking about what happened.

Friend locked car key in the back trunk and staff were nice trying to help. They let us go back in the restaurant to wait for AA person to arrive for a straight two hours and opened the bar to make coffee for us.

Staff were friendly and really helpful arranging schuttle to Tongariro. Food and bar is good.Nice cosy atmosphere.

Hotel is ok but fairly basic, sadly a very bad experience with the waitress resulted in us eating elsewhere.

Fantastic location, amazing staff.

Excellent service from the moment we stepped in the door. A dining issue was remedied with efficiency, When we could not get the TV to work help arrived straight away, and because it was not immediately fixable, we were offered a choice of another room or free breakfast. Any issues were dealt with immediately and efficiently. So that's a 10 out of 5 for me.

Was a lovely stay. The staff were so helpful and polite dispite staff shortages in the resterant and inability to service everyone to the high standard i am sure they would have liked. A big well done for keeping positive and friendly. Not an easy job. Will be back again dispite this. Thankyou to the lovely ladies at the desk - big smiles when we arrived, happy cleaners, calm friendly waiting staff.

Great Hotel Centrally located for National Park. Perfect for a short stay or longer. Access to Tongariro National Park skiing, or local walks. Staff were exceptionally friendly good service. I'll certainly stay again when visiting the area

The hotel rooms are clean, but tiny and spartan. The restaurant was very good and the laundry was convenient. The location is remote, which isn't a surprise, so dining choices are limited.

The Park Hotel in National Park was well located, cozy stay for the two of us. The bathroom was very compact but well appointed. It was handy to have a small fridge and easy to make hot drinks. We also had dinner at the restaurant and enjoyed the view across to the mountains. Service was excellent from check in, dinner service and check out. Would stay again

Remote hotel that's good for one nights stay or if you go ski in the winter with your buddy's. Below average as a family hotel - but given the location with nothing else within miles it's okay.

We had to wait 90 minutes for our dinner. My Asian salad was leaves with child sauce on with a small amount of beef. Noisey room next to a stair case. Wouldn't recommend a stay.

It was a great place to break our journey and the spa pool was lovely after a day of driving. The restaurant was convenient but staff need more training to make it a more refined experience. Given the prices were not cheap the presentation of meals was poor. A bit of effort would go a long way. Also the waitress got the drinks order wrong so I had to go to the bar to exchange for what I'd really ordered. An okay experience but could be so much better.
