Meeting Street Inn

We had a wonderful stay at the Meeting Street Inn. We loved watching the sun rise and the moon at night from our private balcony. The hot tub provided a means to relax at the end of a busy day and the breakfast with different main courses each day was delicious. We also enjoyed the daily wine and cheese gatherings and the cookies at night. The beds were super comfortable, too. My only complaints are that the exhaust fan in the bathroom did not work well (steamy room after a shower) and the air conditioner was quite noisy. But we loved it here regardless.

Loved the private balcony! The room was very clean and good sized. Friendly, helpful staff and perfect location. Loved the wine and cheese reception every evening! Parking was easy, about a block away. Will definitely be booking again!

Great location. Parking a few blocks away is a minor inconveenience.

Parking lot is three blocks away. Six blocks round trip. I real pain. As nice as the place was I probably wouldn’t stay again.

They advertise a hot tub still on things but it was not heated the entire time we were there and no explanation was given as to why

Pretty old hotel, wood floors, ceiling fans, and breakfast bar. Great location. No on site parking. Wine social in the evening.

Super location. One block from market Street and King Street shopping. Complementary wine and cheese happy hour was very nice. Staff were great. Only disappointment was hot tub was only 88 degrees.

The hot tub was not really a hot tub, I think they say it's heated to maybe 95 degrees, but the water felt COLD! That was disappointing as it was a key reason we chose this accommodation versus another. That said, the staff were very friendly, we were very happy with the breakfast options, and the location was absolutely perfect for us - so walkable to everything we wanted to do!

Beautiful Inn. Walking distance to a lot of attractions and shopping. I loved the wine and cheese they had every night. Everything was very clean. Staff was very polite. We enjoyed our stay

The inn is beautiful and the staff was wonderful. The wine and cheese receptions and the continental breakfasts were exceptional. The room was lovely, but the bed was terribly uncomfortable, mainly because of the springs and instability of the mattress. There were shaving clippings along the back of the bathroom sink, so obviously the bathroom was not thoroughly cleaned. The television was small and the media cabinet doors did not fully open. Overall, the inn is lovely but the mattresses need rethinking and housekeeping needs to be thorough.

It is in a great location, however the rooms were not very clean…mold in the shower, something smeared on the wall, dusty. It is an old building.

We booked a 4 night stay but checked out after one night. Unlike the promotional photos which show wood floors with area rugs, our room had wall to wall carpet which was heavily stained. The in wall climate control unit (heat and A/C) did not function properly. If you changed the temperature it switched from one mode to the other. The only way to stop it was to unplug it. The room had an unpleasant musty smell. The bathroom was updated, but the shower had an inadequate glass barrier which resulted in a soaked floor.

The hotel staff wasn’t the friendliest. Rooms were not clean. The AC was so loud we couldn’t hear the TV when it was on and we had the TV at its highest volume (70). Water pressure was low. The glass on the walk-in shower isn’t wide enough to keep water from puddling the floor. There are paint droppings all over the wooden floor. The rug under the beds was very dirty. Overpriced. The location was okay.

My main complaint with The Meeting Street Inn was the poor ventilation and the air conditioner was so LOUD and smelly, its filter needs changing. The carpet smelled moldy and was filthy, definitely the carpet needs to be replaced with hard service flooring.

Small inn close to many tourist spots for a reasonable price. We were happily provided happy hour wine and cheese, late night cookies and breakfast each day of our stay. The inn has updated bathrooms, the beds and pillows are comfy and everything was clean and tidy. The staff is helpful.

Staff was kind and accommodating. They agreed to cancel remaining nights and discounted our 1 night stay.

Overall, my stay was good. The property is nice. The outdoor patio was lovely. My room was nice. The best part of the inn is the location. Since it is an old building, I did hear the people above me walking around their room. It wouldn’t have been bad, except that they were walking around in the middle of the night, which would wake me up. The people working there were very nice and helpful, except for one woman working behind the front desk. She was more interested in reading her book then helping. I have never seen anyone who has worked at a hotel or any other property do that. Hospitality, apparently, is not the best job for this woman.

Awesome price. Awesome location . Anytime you can stay in downtown Charleston for under $200 per night it’s a good deal. Hard time sleeping because the AC is a wall unit and very loud.

Generous wine event at 5. Check out at 12! Air conditioner in room was TOO LOUD!

Could not shower without flooding the floor, poor design. Breakfast was mediocre. Location was excellent, close to everything. Furniture was in poor condition.

Generally nice hotel in a walkable convenient location. Lovely courtyard area and complimentary happy hour with wine and snacks and 8:00pm cookies and milk. Only complaint was the awkward shower enclosure - absolutely no way to keep the bathroom floor from getting wet.

Great location. Property could use a sprucing up. Peeling paint on our ceiling. Old and noisy air conditioning units.

The location was perfect and the staff was friendly. The included breakfast and happy hour is a nice touch. The rooms have a little bit of cosmetic wear and tear but we would definitely stay here again.

It is a very old building and it was very noisy as far as hearing people above you in their room--every step was heard. Location was great. Lobby seemed dated and furniture over used.

Dated but cute. The Inn has a great ambiance to it however it is very dated and needs updating. The location is perfect and we walked to everything. The staff were amazing and extremely helpful - even providing an umbrella when needed. The AC unit in the room was very difficult to adjust and extremely loud all night. So we were very cold as it ran constantly no matter how we tried to adjust. The room had a moldy musty smell to it that they tried to cover up with a spray smell. Hard on the nose The breakfast was great and the wine and cheese reception a nice touch We were a little heartbroken when the leftover food was dumped into the garbage at the end. There was so much food not touched that could easily be put in the fridge for the next day. This upset some of the others as well. Overall a nice place with a great location. The AC, condition and smell of the room were a real turn off for us. For the money, I would look somewhere else next time.

Great place and the staff is amazing. You can walk to just about anywhere. Definitely use the valet parking.

First impressions are everything. When you’re trying to check in after a long drive, but you have to interrupt the front person from their Chinese dinner, then having her help you with rice in her chest & mouth = unsay. I wish people wouldn’t deceive others in their reviews. Keep scrolling for another place.

Very accommodating. Our flight was very delayed and we didn’t Check in till 1 am. They were waiting for us with a key and took care of the car. Very friendly and helpful

Arrived early and asked about valet parking our car. Diamond at the front stated they could park it but they no room in the “closet” for our bags. So we had to leave our luggage in the car. The valet, Johnnie, then followed us out and said we could leave our bags out in the lobby to prevent him from having to bring our car back and unload bags later. He did not want to be bothered with moving the car. We declined his offer. When we returned around 5pm to check in it was a nightmare. They couldn’t find our car and couldn’t get in touch with the workers who were there earlier to find out where it was. We waited for an hour for them to find our car, my husband had to unload all of our luggage. We missed our 6pm dinner reservation for our anniversary due to waiting on our bags in the car. The next morning at check out Diamond was back and said “sorry about your car last night, I had to get out of here and don’t leave a note about where your car was”. She said “we didn’t charge you for parking”. Mind blown at her tone and disrespectful attitude. We tried to go with a smaller boutique hotel versus Charleston Place where we usually stay for relatively the same price. I do not recommend this hotel, other than location everything else is terrible.

I really really liked the wine & cheese hour and the hot chocolate and cookie service at night. Breakfast was just okay. I would have liked more hot food options. I would have liked to check out the hot tub, but it was pretty cold at night, and the water seemed just lukewarm. I was really put off by two things: #1. At check-in, the desk person was kind of rude or maybe just indifferent. She didn’t seem to want to be there or care that I was there. Later, I asked the same person for another pillow (only 2 in the room?!), and she told me that a lot of people requested pillows, so I might not get one. What?! It just seems unbelievable that a hotel wouldn’t have enough pillows. And guess what? I didn’t get one the first night. I will say, however, we stayed for two more nights, and that person was never at the desk again. Every other staff person I encountered was absolutely lovely and went out of their way to be accommodating. (I did finally get my extra pillow!) #2: The parking lot for the hotel is blocks away. This would definitely be really challenging for people with limited mobility. It was also expensive. There was a pay lot right behind the building (not managed by the hotel), and I didn’t check, but I wonder if it would have been cheaper or similarly priced. It certainly would have been more convenient. I would probably stay at this hotel again if the rates were reasonable.

Two people at desk when i arrived and neither addressed me. The phone rang and one of them answered it. A few more minutes passed and i was ignored. Another couple walked up and one employee looks up and asks if they need help checking in! Ridiculous and unprofessional. Room smelled bad. Wall unit A/C. Humid room. Uncomfortable bed and linens.

I was so disappointed in this property, the AC was broken and we were up all Night sweating in 100 degree weather. When I told the front desk they laughed about it and blamed us. This was a pretty pricey room for a broken AC unit.

The hotel is right across from the City Market and in the middle of top-rated restaurants. It's walkable from most of the places-to-visit - Nathaniel Russell House, White Point Garden, Joe Riley Waterfront Park, SC Aquarium, Rainbow Row, Liberty Square, etc. Rooms are big, has character, very clean. The courtyard is charming. Breakfast was minimal, but was adequate for us. We missed the wine & cheese hour, but the hot chocolate and cookies were awesome at the end of the day! Staff were cordial and helpful. Parking is 25$/day and the lot is 2-3mins down the street. It wasn't an issue for us, but could be for other people. Definitely recommend this place!!

We are repeat customers of this charming, well maintained Inn befitting historic Charleston. It is super conveniently located, you can walk to all the sites and best restaurants. Lovely fountained garden to sip your coffee, meet people or enjoy the afternoon glass of wine and cheese. We highly recommend it.

Great stay in a great location

Lovely central hotel, staff very helpful and friendly. Great breakfast, beautiful older building which has been very well maintained- definitely recommend.

Very convenient location-walkable to most things. We had an issue with air conditioning/shower not draining, but it was handled quickly and we were moved to another room. We highly recommend this property.

Meeting Street Inn was wonderful! In the heart of town for easy and fast walkability, just minutes to our concert at The Riviera Theatre. Very clean and very nice staff. We would stay there again.

Great location! Easy to walk to several activity start points, restaurants or easy to get a pick up by bike taxi or ride share. Front desk helpful. Continental breakfast was cereal, fruit, yogurt, sweetrolls, and rotating hot option (eggs, bacon, mini omlettes, etc.). Room was clean, comfy bed, extra pillows available. I would definitely stay here again.

Staff was amazing! So friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was good, loved the wine & cheese afternoons and the cookies and milk at night. Bed was so comfy. Awesome location for walking to every place we wanted to see.

Staff at the hotel were lovely and very helpful. We also loved the breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese gatherings. We met wonderful people at these gatherings where we shared stories of tours and restaurants. We enjoyed Charleston and the Meeting Street Inn, that we booked an extra day!

Wonderful and breakfast is great

The property offers nice perks, like breakfast, wine & cheese at happy hour, and even cookies and milk at 8 PM every day. This makes you want to hang around a bit more, and not just a place to crash.

Being advertised as including breakfast, it was disappointing that when we got downstairs before 9, there was nothing left and speaking to other guests, this was not the first time. It would have been nice if there was replenishing of the actual breakfast food so that all guests could get what they paid for.

The location is excellent for a visit to Charleston. Rooms were well-maintained though I didn't like the shower enclosure (one of those half glass enclosures that allows a lot of spillage to the floor), The evening wine and cheese and hot chocolate and coolies were a nice touch. The breakfast was okay. The yogurt was excellent.

The Inn is quaint. Lovely courtyard and reception hour was an added bonus, but it is first come first served and they do not restock the food items beyond what is put out, so if you don’t get there early, there is no appetizers left. The continental breakfast was lacking too. A few fresh fruits were offered such as bananas and oranges. And some packets of oatmeal were offered. There was a couple hot items such as paper thin bacon and French toast that was too tough to cut with a knife. Luckily, the inn is within walking distance to several restaurants.

Breakfast on the loggia was wonderful, although the breakfast selection was a bit pedestrian.
